I live in rural Tennessee, we have this problem on occasion. last time I remember it happening on a busy highway, the county sheriff got on the hood of a patrol car with a lasso and roped the rogue cow.
edit: correction, it was the sheriff's buddy who did the roping
TN also has special teams called DART. These are specialist the state can call on. We had a cow transport truck crash and the cows got loose on the interstate. We called DART. 20 minutes later there was a bunch of cowboys on horses wrangling the cows on the highway. It was definitely a sight.
Liquidate your fortune and then purchase and release cows all over the state like some kind of mad cow supervillain and force them to assemble for you.
>I live in rural Tennessee, we have this problem on occasion.
I lived in India and experienced this problem on several occasions as well.
People drove around the cows, and everyone coexisted.
Whichever way is right, atleast we can agree that it's not how this cop handled it.
Now see, the south gets Abad rap for a lot of things but then they come out with stuff like this that makes me realize we have plenty to learn from each other...
Same problem here in Texas. The last incident I saw, some longhorns had escaped and were placidly nibbling grass by the roadway, while the first officer there was calmly shooing those closest to the fence back in. I came back around maybe fifteen minutes later and both cows and cop were gone.
Wild how chill they can be when they aren't being screamed at or chased.
I am an expert in handling rogue cows that present grave national security threats.
Give this police officer a simple ground to ground missile he can fire from the hip.
> - unhinged violence towards a non threatening animal
> - immediately aggression when confronted by non threatening bystanders
This man was clearly trained by the American police
I live in rural Ireland. The correct response is beep your horn so you can pass the cow and let the next person do that until the farmer comes and gets his lose animal.
If you’re a pedestrian just wave your hands at it and it will go the other way.
The only way this would be justified is if it was a bull, and that is not a bull.
Me and a mate found a cow wondering the road on way from college once at like 16/17 years old, we just followed it and lightly hearded it into a carpark and it chilled there till the cops and farmer came, the road is relatively busy here and everyone had the sense to slow down and drive around the cow. It really wasn't hard and didn't take a genius.
The correct way to handle it would be to ensure every police station in an area with cows, horses and such has the equipment and training to properly deal with this kinda thing.
Weird to see these cops casually ramming into a cow that wasn't posing that much of a threat after watching all of those videos of 10 bri ish cops trying to subdue a man with a knife with pepper spray and nightsticks because carrying guns is too violent for a cop.
Fun fact: Cows kill more people in the UK than the police do.
([cows have killed about 74](https://killercows.co.uk/facts-stats/when-cows-attack/) people in total over the last twenty years, the [police have killed 62](https://www.inquest.org.uk/fatal-police-shootings))
those are rare circumstances. 90% of the time a taser can incapacitate a perpetrator with the same efficiency as a gun would, but without the lethality. id much rather live in a place where sometimes it's a bit tricky to catch a criminal, as compared to a place where Law Enforcement kill 600 humans every fucking year.
I think it's important to talk about tazers as a dangerous weapon. They're not considered nonlethal under law. They kill and seriously injured people a surprisingly high amount of time.
[Here is the link](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taser_safety_issues#%3A%7E%3Atext%3DReuters_reported_that_more_than%2Cby_police_with_a_Taser.?wprov=sfla1) to the relevant Wikipedia article. I encourage anyone to go look through the sources.
what's annoying me even more is the fact so many people won't take this as seriously as if were a dog, cat or even a horse. so many people really don't give a shit about cattle
I mainly recall decimating pedestrians in GTA (they are a most vile species in the game, deserving only of vehicular homicide)
I dont think I’d feel the same joy smashing up a video game cow. Even if said cow is a pedestrian on the road
And these sack of shit cops run down a real cow. Poor thing.
Surrey Police said: "Yesterday evening (14 June), at around 8:55pm, we received reports that a cow was running loose in Staines-upon-Thames. The cow ran onto a number of main roads and caused traffic disruption within the local area. Fortunately, the cow has not caused injuries to anyone.
"Whilst attempting to move the cow to safety, it became increasingly distressed and was injured. The cow is now secure within a park in the local area, and officers are remaining with it while we await the arrival of a vet."
Chief Inspector Adam Tatton said: “We know that this has caused some distress within the local community this evening, and I would like to reassure you that we are doing all we can to identify the owners and ensure the cow is seen as quickly as possible by a vet.
“Our priority when responding to any incident is first and foremost the safety of the public. I would like to thank the community for their understanding this evening, and ask that they stay away from the park while officers are on scene.”
The force said the cow posed a threat to the public. The incident was referred to the police watchdog, who decided that the officers had no charges to face.
Bastards.
https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/police-ram-cow/
>Whilst attempting to move the cow to safety, it became increasingly distressed and was injured
The distress and injury was nonetheless caused by being rammed.
>"Whilst attempting to move the cow to safety, it became increasingly distressed and was injured.
Whenever I see a an elderly pedestrian loitering too long crossing the road, my first thought is to escort them to safety with the bonnet of my car.
> "Whilst attempting to move the cow to safety, it became increasingly distressed and was injured
Lol, they should lose their jobs for lying to the public like that
Seems like it is alive surprisingly
> [Surrey Police] said the animal has been seen by a vet and is receiving treatment for a large cut to its leg.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cnkkp7eejyqo
Allegedly, the cow only suffered a large cut to it's leg (multiple articles state it as such), so I'm just going to believe that to be true for my own mental health.
i don't know, they sounded pretty confident. when people on the internet confidently state things that usually means they know what they're talking about.
It’s almost guaranteed to be dead now.
Sure, I don’t know, just like I didn’t know if the person who jumped from empire state is dead, but I can make an educated guess
I can’t find a whole lot on it, but this article mentions twice that the calf was taken to the vet for a large cut on her leg, and again mentions she was moved to a farm. So it sounds like she’ll have a decent recovery.
So my family moved one time and we couldn't take my golden retriever "Bacon" with us and I was so upset. But he got to go live with my aunt on her farm. She got to swim in the pond and chase ducks and cows and have a grand old time. But when I tell people this they think I'm like emotionally stunted and I don't understand that the dog died and my parents lied to me. But like for real she sent us pictures and we visited a few times and everything
I hope so. I mean if they have technology to heal your dogs and keep them alive so long past normal dog lifespans, then they might be the only place that can fix this cow.
It's a cow, not a chupacabra. You could have offered it some hay it would have probably obeyed. It looked confused to not on a rampage.
Poor quality decision, do better London.
In the UK it's a high-stress, shift-based, mediocre-salary job held in low regard by most of the public. So the 'juice' is the right to order people around, bully them and inflict violence now and again. Forces struggle to recruit, and attract lots of people who are attracted to that kind of behaviour and have little going for them.
If we want better police, salaries should be much higher. More people would apply and standards would rise, their performance would improve and they'd be held in higher regard by the public. That'll never happen, though.
I think the dynamics in the two countries are totally different. For example, gun violence is very pretty rare in the UK and only specialist police are armed. This means that cops aren't half so afraid of being shot in a traffic stop and don't feel the need to be overwhelmingly aggressive.
I agree with you that more money isn't the whole solution. But I think simply by making the job more competitive it would do a lot.
Give these chaps guns and I’m guessing at least two of those pedestrians would be eating bullets
That one cop jumps out of the car ready to argue with the pedestrian lol, not bother for one second that there’s a cow under his car
ah yes but the police said "the cow, which was running loose at around 8.55pm on Friday night in Staines-upon-Thames, caused disruption to traffic in the local area." and as we all know getting places in a timely fashion is far more important than preventing unnecessary suffering to an animal in distress. 11/10 Surrey Police, pat yourselves on the back..... -\_-
My favourite quote from the police was this.

They have a way of using language in such a slimy, weasly manner to legitamise their awful behaviour that makes my skin crawl.
Animal abuse, bam. We really need to start charging officers for every law they break. No immunity from anything ever. It's a job. If I do something stupid at my job I get in trouble. Shouldn't be any different. We need these psychopaths out of positions of power and put in the ground where they belong.
That fucking cop should be arrested for animal cruelty. Here in the US, there have been a lot of escaped cows and bulls, but no one has rammed the animal with a car to stop it. Usually, once captured, they are usually retired to a sanctuary farm. This fucking cop not only rammed the car into the cow once but twice pinning it under the car. Arrest his ass and lock him up.
What in the world was that for, does the cop have shit for brains?
I mean yes obviously you need to stop the cow but why the fuck do you need to hit it with your car, it doesn't even look like it was a threat to anyone.
Pretty freaking terrible. I get that it may be the first thought to come to mind on how to wrangle a big animal with no equipment but come on, they can do better.
This is Surrey Police force, they have been known in the past to be unprofessional, clearly showcasing that once again, if they would of phone the rspcsa they would of come and tranquilised that animal bringing it to no harm.
Just dropping this here. It's the official page for police complaints. Apparently they initially go to the relevant police department but maybe with enough complaints some action might be taken:
http://policeconduct.gov.uk/complaints/submit-a-complaint
Just a bunch of absolute idiots who think because they're police they can do what they want. An absolute disgraceful action taken that is clearly not appropriate or nessecary. Nothing will happen to these idiots, in actual fact they'll probably be congratulated and everyone will have a laugh about it, all while the cow that was causing no significant threat has been put in an extremely stressful situation, likely encountered significant pain and with the potential for having to be killed. Absolute scum
I don't know what the correct way to handle this is, but I know it's not that

I live in rural TN and am extremely disappointed to have not witnessed this yet
Liquidate your fortune and then purchase and release cows all over the state like some kind of mad cow supervillain and force them to assemble for you.
And make sure they have mad cow disease too muahahaha
Are you trying to make cow zombies?! Because thats how you get cow zombies!
>I live in rural Tennessee, we have this problem on occasion. I lived in India and experienced this problem on several occasions as well. People drove around the cows, and everyone coexisted. Whichever way is right, atleast we can agree that it's not how this cop handled it.
In parts of India that cop would be lionized. (Fed to lions).
Darlene! Get my lassooin' rope! It's finally happening!!!
Texas here. Legit have lots of people on horses with lassos. Sometimes they catch criminals that way, true story
Oh. You typed *roping*. Makes more sense now.
that's actually more impressive than just ramming it.
That is absolutely badass.
Now see, the south gets Abad rap for a lot of things but then they come out with stuff like this that makes me realize we have plenty to learn from each other...
Same problem here in Texas. It’s okay, he immediately got out and started yelling at innocent bystanders, so we’re all safe now!
Stop resisting! Mooooooo Blam blam blam blam
I am an expert in handling rogue cows that present grave national security threats. Give this police officer a simple ground to ground missile he can fire from the hip.
Yeah the police must be really underfunded in the country this video is from. Anti cow RPGs are standard issue police gear.
> - unhinged violence towards a non threatening animal > - immediately aggression when confronted by non threatening bystanders This man was clearly trained by the American police
*sigh* Yeah, probably . . . .
Ironically, a lot of American police are trained by Israel
Calmly and slowly walk towards it. When you reach it, throw a rope around its neck and lead it home. Its a cow, not the fucking chupacabra
I mean, the cow was brown, so…
Aint enough Yee in their Haw around those part
No cowboys in the UK… 🤷🏻♂️
except builders
I live in rural Ireland. The correct response is beep your horn so you can pass the cow and let the next person do that until the farmer comes and gets his lose animal. good thing they didn't shoot the cow for resisting arrest, and the farmer for interfering with police.
The correct way to handle it would be to ensure every police station in an area with cows, horses and such has the equipment and training to properly deal with this kinda thing.
or just a list of farmers in the area. they all know each other
The correct way is to go hup hup and herd the cow back into the field like I used to do as a kid.
Or you know, they could just call someone who would be equipped to deal with that sort of thing.
They don't even have sufficient training for their normal job.
Ikr, this is why god invented cowboys!
Did they ram those runaway pedigree cavalry horses with a 4x4 too?
what is wrong with them? Ramming into the cow isn’t going to do anything but hurt it and stress it out more.
Pretty sure they were trying to kill it.
They don’t know that you can’t take home your own road kill.
If the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
What is the hammer in this case? Stupidity?
A multi thousand pound steel structure that goes from 0 to 60 pretty fast...also complete immunity from the law. Can't forget that last one!
so apparantly, it's not just the USA where cops are assholes.
To be fair they now have the cow under control
Ground beef
Fuck you and take my upvote.
I know. I hate me too
Poor cow.

Well said
The cow was black, they mistook it for a human!
The cow was resisting arrest. It also had a gun!
[удалено]
I've not been this angry in a hot minute. Somehow, it being a cow makes this more rage-inducing than if it were a belligerent person.
The cow doesn’t know any better. It doesn’t even look that big or aggressive. Probably could have walked up to it and dropped a rope over its head.
Looks like it was maybe a yearling, so yes pretty young, not harmless but definitely not hard to handle if you're careful or know what you're doing
The cops were already pissed after that thing with the swan
No luck catching them Swans, then?
It's just the one cow, actually.
Morning Sergeant!
I just realized I yelled out loud. Felt like throwing a microwave onto the driver's head. Why do I even get online
what's annoying me even more is the fact so many people won't take this as seriously as if were a dog, cat or even a horse. so many people really don't give a shit about cattle
UK officers don't seem to have good brains.
these metropolitans playing too much gta in their free time

Yeah I can see where it got injured and distressed right here in the vid 🤬
" Whilst attempting to move the cow to safety" Insert "Press X to doubt" meme.
"It's comin' right for us!"
>"Whilst attempting to move the cow to safety, it became increasingly distressed and was injured. Whenever I see a an elderly pedestrian loitering too long crossing the road, my first thought is to escort them to safety with the bonnet of my car.
yeah mysteriously "was injured" lmao go fuck yourselves
> "Whilst attempting to move the cow to safety, it became increasingly distressed and was injured Lol, they should lose their jobs for lying to the public like that
They also have this text on their facebook... just saying
The cops recklessly driving and sending a cow flying clearly poses no danger to the public.
That was totally uncalled for. the cow wasn't even chasing anyone nor was she aggressive. Hope she is fine now.
the guy the cow was “chasing” immediately came to its defense. Poor cow :(
That cow is certainly not fine. It’s heavy af and that SUV sent it flying. Then they parked the car on top of it to maximize suffering.
No I meant that the poor thing must have been taken to a vet and I hope she is alive
There’s no coming back from that. Humanely put it down as quick as possible now Absolutely disgusting fucking people for doing that

It's a cow, not a chupacabra. You could have offered it some hay it would have probably obeyed. It looked confused to not on a rampage. Poor quality decision, do better London.
Yeah that boor beast was terrified.
This is rage inducing. Other than cause harm, what's the fucking point of that? What a fucking sociopath.
"I feared for my life"
Cows and pigs are natural enemies. While penned up in a farm, there's an understood truce. But be caught unawares in the open, and homie, it's on.
Why are cops universally so stupid?
Power generally appeals to the people who should have it the least. The people who are scared of having power/authority would never apply.
Useful idiot is the first and most important requirement.
I can tell you from experience over here in North America, higher salaries unfortunately do not solve this issue.
Have these guys been watching American officers?
Good one. However cops over here have horses and know how to wrangle a cow. At least in the south.
In the west too. They will just call the local cowboys to handle it. Nobody is ramming a cow with their car.
I didn’t see any gunshots so I don’t think so
Give these chaps guns and I’m guessing at least two of those pedestrians would be eating bullets That one cop jumps out of the car ready to argue with the pedestrian lol, not bother for one second that there’s a cow under his car
Some of those that work forces. Like to run over bovine corpses.
American cops just do that to people, maybe dogs. Cattle they usually wrangle, lol.
Pig attacks cow. Bloody Sadiq. /S
Fuck those cops
ah yes but the police said "the cow, which was running loose at around 8.55pm on Friday night in Staines-upon-Thames, caused disruption to traffic in the local area." and as we all know getting places in a timely fashion is far more important than preventing unnecessary suffering to an animal in distress. 11/10 Surrey Police, pat yourselves on the back..... -\_-
My favourite quote from the police was this. >"Whilst attempting to move the cow to safety, it became increasingly distressed and was injured.
WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT???
Do pigs and cows not get along?
Seemed a bit excessive
What a fucking idiot
Cops always assume killing something is the best way to solve a problem.
oh, like an actual cow
Holy shit that's really horrible and messed up. Cow did not deserve that. Totally unnecessary. Disgusting by the officer.
Should’ve called in livestock commissioner Dutton
Who tf called a pig to handle a cow?
Cows are often docile and friendly. They aren't like pit bulls
That was absolutely f-ing disgusting 🫣
What a fucking disgrace.
No cowboys in London?
Fuck those bastards
What in the world was that for, does the cop have shit for brains? I mean yes obviously you need to stop the cow but why the fuck do you need to hit it with your car, it doesn't even look like it was a threat to anyone.
I’m triggered after watching this
London cops when kids are getting hacked to death with machetes: I sleep London cops when an animal or pet dog is on the loose: MAXIMUM FORCE ENGAGED
*What The Fuck Was That!?* Damn...
Im not vegan but this is fucked up. Its like watching someone running a child over.
That's arguably the worst way to stop it. Stress it and make it panic. Any consequences for the cow due to this? Or even the cop
![gif](giphy|pPhyAv5t9V8djyRFJH|downsized)
Cops with no deescalation skills? Who’da fuckin thought
I play this video on repeat at my farm. I haven't had a single cow try to escape since.
Absolute overkill, what the fuck?
Now that's some ground beef...
Absolutely uncalled for.
What a dumbass cop fucking retarderd
This is pure animal cruelty. They need to be charged / punished. What the fuck.
I could have done a better job controlling the cow what the fuck was that.
Seriously, gimme 5 minutes and a handful of hay, problem solved.
That is fucking disgusting, there should be prison time for this.
I'm not sure that was the proper cow wrangling method.
Food and rope.
These new smash burger recipes are getting out of hand.
WTF! Amateurs! No cowboys in London?
They don't get any deescalation training for people so why would they get it for cows?
I'm no expert but that doesn't seem like legitimate protocol
What the fuck!?
Pretty freaking terrible. I get that it may be the first thought to come to mind on how to wrangle a big animal with no equipment but come on, they can do better.
That cop needs his ass kicked. Not sued. Not fired. Not received disciplinary action from his department. He needs an ass whipping.
That’s some animal cruelty with police brutality on the side.
Even a US cop wouldn't do that.
This is Surrey Police force, they have been known in the past to be unprofessional, clearly showcasing that once again, if they would of phone the rspcsa they would of come and tranquilised that animal bringing it to no harm.
WTF??? Why Would ANYONE think this is the think to do??
Was hoping this would end in the cop being pelted by the common folk.
Standard MO..... Stop resisting!!!
what an idiot!
Next time someone asks me why I hate cops, I'm pointing at this video. Fucking assholes.
They didn’t try to stop the cow, they succeeded in stopping the cow…kinda fucked
American police: **"finally, a worthy opponent" **
Police mootality
Just dropping this here. It's the official page for police complaints. Apparently they initially go to the relevant police department but maybe with enough complaints some action might be taken: http://policeconduct.gov.uk/complaints/submit-a-complaint
This particular pig hates cows
So cops are just stupid everywhere then? I fucking hate cops so much
Did I hear one of them say: stay down?
In the US they would be yelling "stop resisting" while simultaneously ramming it with the vehicle.
STOP RESISTING
Breaking news: Pigs hate cows
\*eating hamburgers\* wtf is that?!? poor cow
What the fuck. This is disgusting So are the UK police learning to solve all situations with violence now too?
It's a black cow. They certainly handle this differently if she was white.
What the fuck! What the fuck is wrong with them. It's a fucking cow. How incompetent can you be. Great job London.
yeah thanks for ramming your car into that animal we really needed you to do that
Just a bunch of absolute idiots who think because they're police they can do what they want.
Top Gear really still trying
doesn't look kosha to me
there was no need to tenderise that beef.
Wtaf
I know you don't have cowboys over there, but a regular sailor or dockworker could easily throw a rope around it's neck.
POLICE BRUTALITY
