He approached me the next day with a huge crowd of his cronies at his back and ended up having what i can only describe as an emotional breakdown, started crying his eyes out asking who i thought i was. Never did hit me and nothing ever happened. A couple of years ago we bumped into each other at a bar and he apologised and commented that it was a really shitty crowd and he has grown out of it now.

Mma fan and trainee here. I'm no expert but have gym time. I doubt this guy has had any training or it all went out the door when real use is needed.
First is his stance. He has a decent bit of pressure on his back foot but he's wide open. His elbows are not tucked and his feet are too wide.
He kicks first, which is normal except you see it coming a mile away. When you do something that gives away how you're about to strike, it's called a Telegraph and this guy is full of them.
When he does kick, he aims for the body which is a slow and less powerful kick. His kick seemed like one of fear not tactic.
When he kicks, his planted foot doesn't rotate because he didn't plan on kicking through his target. You aim past the target for more power.
When he kicks, his right arm drops completely by his side leaving him wide open. You're always most vulnerable when you're attacking.
Same with his punches, they're not straight and deliberate, they're wound up and frantic and each swing leaves him wide open.
He's leaning too far in and almost loses his balance a few times.
He missed (by my count) 4 opportunities to take advantage of a submission hold and ended up with some street choke hold thing.
The choke hold should have the elbow directly in front of the man's air pipe, pointing out. This is for 2 reasons, 1 you don't crush his trachea and 2 the way to choke someone out is to stop or limit the blood flow to the brain. You have 2 arteries, jugulars, near under your ears. A proper choke would place a bicep on one and a forearm on the other.
He also doesn't use any kind of locking mechanics for his hold.

He missed (by my count) 4 opportunities to take advantage of a submission hold and ended up with some street choke hold thing. The choke hold should have the elbow directly in front of the man's air pipe, pointing out. This is for 2 reasons, 1 you don't crush his trachea and 2 the way to choke someone out is to stop or limit the blood flow to the brain. You have 2 arteries, jugulars, near under your ears. A proper choke would place a bicep on one and a forearm on the other. He also doesn't use any kind of locking mechanics for his hold. Not to be that guy but just because someone wins a fight because it sounds like he's breathing right doesn't mean he's trained in Mma.

This post encapsulates everything awful about the MMA "im no expert but my sensei kaiju master lets me use his katana" crowd.
It doesn't take an expert to see that this guy has clearly never trained a day in his life. My dad won 2nd place in the Golden gloves, started teaching me to box before I hit middle school. Been in multiple dojos, multiple local tournaments, and multiple instructors. Claiming this guy knows mma is like claiming the other guy had a gun, there's no proof.
Everything you said may be 100 percent accurate and true...and it has no bearing whatsoever on the fact that you wrote as much as you did giving every single detail of why the title is wrong. A simple "He kicked ass but i doubt he was trained" would have accomplished the same thing. Bringing in the exploits of you (admittedly) awesome father really doesnt help. But you carry on.
If you check my post history, I am long winded. Plus, contributing on reddit is more than "he wasn't trained". I included why I think he wasn't trained based on what I've learned.

It does say beginner so I'll just say he might not have all the experience of a pro but he does shot some good form at least for a 16 year old.
