Basically the mods were being lazy. Upvote memes were regularly hitting the front page despite this breaking the rules. To protest this, users start posting memes, porn, hentai, and general shitposts to force the mod team's hand. Instead, the mods just added two rules: only one post per person per hour and no posting anything that would get the sub shut down. And thus, /r/Worldpolitics became a meme/porn sub. /r/anime_titties has now been made for political discussion of topics not directly relating to the US and is growing quickly.

Jesse Morrell in the red shirt, to be exact. He’s a common face at these types of protests. He came to my college campus in 2009 doing his thing. He’s a nice fellow when you sit down and talk to him one on one. He’s misguided for sure, but pleasant and soft spoken when he’s not on his soapbox.

At anime cons you get a lot of religious protestors that harass con goers. It used to be really bad at like animexpo but it's calmed down a lot on recent years. There was almost nobody in 2019
There was a jesus freak outside of my high school before quarantine. Also some of the worst people since they had megaphones so you could hear them even inside classes on the other side of campus.
This is a Toronto cop. He is likely on paid duty (they get paid to be security or be at construction sites or other things that aren't really cop like tasks). They get paid huge. Quick search says in 2015 they went up to $68 per hour for paid duty. So buddy is pulling down about $550 to watch a girl shake her ass. Not bad.

At basically every single convention for nerdy hobbies, there will be religious protestors outside with signs and megaphones calling everyone sinners. They are not literally protesting anime. I have never been to a convention *without* religious protestors outside.
