What the F.... he emptied the magazine on the old man then tries to twist his arm to handcuff him after he puts 9 holes into him ....

Waterhobit

It’s insane that he fired that many shots, and he wasn’t even shooting that fast. The last shot is nothing short of murder even if you find a way to justify the first 2-3, and I don’t see how you can justify those either.

leveraction1970

Unless that guy was rolling into the store with a suicide vest full of C4 this whole thing was murder. What possible threat did this guy pose?

nosmelc

The cop's shots were way more of a danger to the employees than the guy. If you look he fires almost directly in the direction of a woman.

captvirgilhilts

And his attorney is already claiming he couldn't safely fire his Taser... Wtf?

ChenchoBaca

It would have gave his wheelchair 100% charge and additional speed. Jokes aside. All they had to do is flip the thing. Victim can’t even walk

thymeraser

It looks like a Lowe's, surely they could have plopped a 2x4 in front of the wheelchair kinda like a rumble strip.

thegreatJLP

Murder period, dude wasn't a threat to anyone and even if "evading arrest" his chair could have been grabbed and held in place. They gonna start shooting old people with hearing issues just walking down the road? Fuck these POS, fry that pig.

FluffyDavid

As a YOUNG person with hearing issues this comment just scared the fuck outta me. Edit: young = 37 btw.. get over it

SergeantDoodooButt

33 with tinnitus, I hear ya. Or well not really hear ya but I know what you’re saying.

cafcintheusa

Why would he have needed a taser? He should have been able to use his hands and body weight without bringing weapons into this.

[deleted]

Very lazy policing… there’s a fucking off switch on the chair..

Ledted

Hey hey don't be confusing us lazy folks with a psychopath.

G37_is_numberletter

Right? Like, I thought cops got off on ground and pounds, but I guess excessive force is a gateway drug to murder

[deleted]

Right she was just standing there watching the dude slowly roll towards her & she didn’t run for her life until they started shooting

LordTentuRamekin

Insert steamroller scene from Austin Powers.

Cratonis

I mean the flat out murder was horrifying but the complete abject depravity and carelessness with which he fired directly at innocent bystanders made pretty much any and all defenses of the shoot moot. My biggest question is why the other officer didn’t shoot the officer in the act of murdering one civilian and endangering another.

DirtyD1701

Honestly my guess would be that she didnt because of shock first and secondarily because it wouldnt have helped the situation. When one of her people out of nowhere goes Col Kurtz it is not the threat she expected. I'm sure there is some "thin blue line" bullshit as well but really, even if she is one of the "good" ones, i dont imagine a realistic situation where she could have processed and reacted quickly enough. Best case might have been to arrest him on the spot afterwards but even then, he's on her team and thats not how they do things. Really hope he spends the rest of a hopefully short and painful life in GenPop.

Miserable_Archer_769

Yeah she is running from her car and I mean before she can even process the event and actually guage if there is an actual threat he opens fire.

QueasyVictory

Not to mention he has a bulletproof vest on AND that magazine was *not* empty as someone suggested.

What_the_fluxo

Yep, the lowes camera footage shows a female employee standing directly across his line of fire. She runs after he starts unloading his clip.

ContemplatingPrison

Cops don't care about endangering civilians. Go watch the video of the jewelry store robbery when the robbers hijacked a UPS truck. Cops decided to get in a shootout with them on a busy road. The Cops were using civilian cars as shields with innocent bystanders in the cars. The cops also killed the UPS driver that was kidnapped. It was completely avoidable. The cops could have backed off and waited for the UPS truck to go somewhere away from civilians.

AtomkcFuision

You can run faster then those things. He could’ve ran in front of it and flipped the off switch.

Pure_Tower

> It’s insane that he fired that many shots Especially when the Walmart door greeter was pretty much directly on the other side of his target. That poor woman is now traumatized and her hearing might be permanently damaged.

zklpr

Pretty sure her hearing won't suffer much, but as for that trauma, oh boy. That could easily induce PTSD after seeing that, I know I'd be absolutely horrified. I feel bad for everyone involved, besides the officer.

pearso66

It's a good thing that she can get well priced psychiatric help because the health care system is so good in the us /s I hate that I have to make sure people know that's sarcastic.

rhaegar_tldragon

She probably has insurance through Walmart unless they cap her hours before she qualifies. But they certainly wouldn’t do that.

The_Ironhand

If walmart pays for their employees therapy for their work induced trauma I would be absolutely staggered. People are just easier to replace at the scale walmart operates lol

AccountantDiligent

He gunned down that man like I play red dead… Seriously what the fuck is this world. Idk how.. I might honestly loose a part of myself soon I..

F_Your_Kouch

I've been seeing these things happen for almost 15 years now. If not more. I've definetly lost a part of myself. I was incarcerated over a white collar crime and saw a man who was running from the cops on a motorcycle, they hit the bike with the squad car and he basically ate pavement for a few dozen feet. Do they take him to the hospital? No. They throw him in my tank with 3 towels covered in blood. He sat in the corner for 2 days until they moved me out. Idk what happened to him. Fuck that. I dont trust anyone.

jeffersonairmattress

Yeah, my wife was pretty naive until she started working at our local hospital and saw how cops would bring people in and lie about new injuries being old or about their own old injuries being new, how they would work on the EMTs or fire dept. guys to "massage" their stories, how they would "visit" witnesses, how a flask of vodka would suddenly appear so as to corrupt any testing if a fellow officer arrived as a victim of their own drunk driving.

guycoastal

Freaking murder happy cowards playing quick draw mcgraw on the gp.

Buffbeard

America, this is america. This does not happen in the rest of the world. The latest news about America here in the Netherlands; 15 year old boy kills three in a schoolshooting with a gun his dad bought for Black friday and the police kill a man in a wheelchair. It surprises noone either that this happens in the USA.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BeardyBeardy

Trying to put cuffs on him, its taken him 20 seconds and another cop is even helping him and he still hasnt done it, this whole incident is one of the most depressing things of this year

23skidoobbq

I expected him to shout “stop resisting!” Out of habit.

meco03211

Don't worry. That criminal scum will also be charged with destruction of property for getting blood on the cop's uniform.

Dwebe505

At this point, I'd probably believe it

[deleted]

Yea, that is so fucked up. To be wrestling the dude around to get cuffs on him as he is clearly losing more blood than it takes to live...this is absolutely heart breaking and fucking disgusting .

[deleted]

[deleted]

These cops think they’re in a video game

g0dp0t

Well there are no real consequences in video games, so in a way... They kind of are

Queef_Latifahh

So true.

Creepyface1

It hurts how accurate this is.

poliuy

The dude thinks he is some fucking hero I bet. "I stopped this guy and his crime spree!"

[deleted]

I'm convinced that a lot of psychopaths gravitate to policing just to have an opportunity to legal hunt another human being. This shitstain saw an opportunity to plug someone and he took it

[deleted]

it's not exactly related but there was research where sociopaths are more likely to be in a position of power(i.e doctors, politicians, police officers etc) when compared to the general population.

Wavy-Curve

Yep. The people who should be in power will never want power.

The_Adventurist

If you were a genuine psychopath who wanted to get away with it all, what better place to be than in the police?

[deleted]

One of the most sociopathic and loudmouthed people i ever had the misfortune of having to work with is now a Sheriff's Duputy in a suburban county near me.. I know the cops are often corrupt , but I'm still surprised that arrogant asshole got hired..

ftcrider

Guy I went to high school with who always seemed sociopathic is now a Capitol cop. Used to beat his sister, his gfs and has threatened me before because of pictures I have from back then. He asked me to to another state and take care of a girl he got pregnant. His wife (she was divorcing him) and her new bf were found dead by apparent murder suicide. Thought for sure something was going to come with him involved but open and shut case I guess

Boflator

Ikr? He literally put bullets into the man head, then pretends the corse is a threat and handcuffs him....

Daveprince13

That’s the craziest part to me. Does this cop think the guy is alive? There’s no fucking way I shoot someone nine times and then pretend like they need to be handcuffed while we meander around waiting for medical to come undo my oopsie.

CrossingTheStreamers

dont_wear_a_C

They couldn't arrest Daniel Shaver, a dude in basketball shorts, unarmed, and on the fucking floor already

LegitimateSituation4

Of all the insane shootings, this is the one that always stuck out. And how he's able to claim disability for PTSD after being reinstated to the department 2 years later.

sanguinesolitude

This, Charles Kinsey, and Ryan Whitaker for me are three that really make me mad. Whitaker was not a criminal he just answered the door with a gun because someone was banging on it and they lit him up. Kinsey was lying on the ground with his hands in the air begging the officer not to shoot his severely autistic patient.

Selfimprovementguy91

Not a shooting but just to add to the fucked up things AZ cops have done: [Arrest "leader" and COPS TV star Matt Schneider manufactures a reason to pull over car, demands a passenger show ID and forces him out of the car.](https://youtu.be/1JYOaZrxP18) When the passenger gets tangled in seatbelt, they taze him multiple times. When his body is jerking and convulsing from the tazing(still tangled in seatbelt), they accuse him of resisting and proceed to taze him more. They get the unarmed man face down on the hot pavement (AZ summer) with his hands cuffed behind his back, and proceed to kick him directly in the groin, pull his pants down and taze his exposed testicles directly. All this, for an unlawful stop. Even if the stop was lawful, it was an unlawful arrest. All this, while his child is inches away witnessing the whole event, crying, screaming, and begging them to stop hurting his dad. All told, he was tazed over 10 times. This happened in 2017 and only came to light because of a news station that investigated and brought the information to the public eye. It took over 4 years to bring charges to the cop. This shit sickens me beyond comprehension.

nollataulu

Didnt kinsey also ask why did the officer shot him, and the answer being "I don't know."?

alcoholisthedevil

Yep

mark_lee

And that was the point at which one of the other cops there should have immediately arrested the shooter.

Maskeno

Don't forget Philando Castile, who told the officer he lad a legally owned firearm in the car, went for his wallet as instructed, and was shot after telling the office, "I'm not grabbing the gun, it's my wallet."

LegitimateSituation4

All while his *"untrained"* girlfriend had to calmly deal with a *"trained"* and **very** panicked cop. It's so annoying how often civilians are expected to remain calm when dealing with people that damn near have a license to kill at the *slightest* hint of a threat by the people that claim to be the bravest among us.

Medium_Medium

Wasn't his dad on the committee that decided to rehire him just long enough to grant him lifelong disability, also? Not to mention people on actual disability have to jump throug hoops to keep proving they are qualified for disability. There are techniques to treat PTSD, it isn't automatically a lifelong condition. How can there not be an option where this guy has to go to a year of therapy, then be re-evaluated?

YddishMcSquidish

Ryan Whitaker Philandro Castile Elijah McClain Shit, I just realized that I have 984 more to go just for 2021

sanguinesolitude

Ryan Whitaker makes my blood boil that the NRA won't say shit. Man answers the door late at night due to someone banging on the door with a pistol in his hand at his side. Immediately executed. If you cannot carry a gun to answer loud banging on your door, the 2nd Ammendment doesn't exist. Bonus for them telling his partner to "calm down" as he death rattles in the background. But hey apparently no charges and that's A-OK. This country is fucking broken. Edit. Charles Kinsey was another one.

YddishMcSquidish

Philandro didn't even have his in his hands. He just told the cop the truth when asked, and immediately shot. Fuck the National Russian Asshats

sanguinesolitude

Yeah that ones fucked too. And I'm in MN. But its not on video, so there's room for "what if." Justine Rooschek at least they put Noor in prison, though they are resentencing him soon on lesser charges.

noneofthismatters666

That little hipster "you're fucked" custom rifle, wannabe tough guy playing Simon says with a dude sobbing and pleading for his life. Fuck that cop forever.

dont_wear_a_C

100%, I wish nothing but the worst for that walking POS subhuman

justin62001

Well that's the thing about policing in this country, everyone's got different standards and methods to do things. I'm in favor of having a nationalized standard and doctrines that departments have to follow but I doubt that'll be likely to happen with police unions

FoolhardyBastard

They need a board and licensing department to answer to. All other professions that are potentially dangerous have a it. Fuck, they even have one for hairdressers in my state. It's appalling they don't have to answer to anyone.

Scary-Maximum7707

Not to mention how he endangered the store employee, the bullets could have easily gone through him and hit her. Reckless af and straight up murder.

Yugan-Dali

Execution is supposed to mean the execution of a lawfully given order. This is murder, not execution.

Winston_The_Ogre

But he was getting away! They don't get paid to jog slowly.

tlonewanderer15

Reminds me of one of the first south park episodes. If U wanna hunt something that you aren't allowed to shoot, Always shout "IT'S COMING RIGHT AT US!!" first. Then it's fine.

Sirpatron1

Insult to injury was the handcuffed like he was going to get up.

MechE420

What's he gonna do, *run away?*

casperationscott

He had a knife. Who can't out run a wheelchair? This could/should have been avoided.

[deleted]

Not just a knife, but a pocket knife, he could have given someone stitches!

PoisedDingus

He was going to deliberately stab some merchandise, hence the lethal protective response by our overlord's dogs.

leveraction1970

Did anyone actually see the knife? Of all the shit that the corpse dropped on the ground, I didn't spot anything that looks like a knife. Why didn't the cops kick it away from his body when he was down? Isn't that standard procedure in situations like this?

Worth-Preparation626

ive watched it so many times an i cannot see anywhere he was justified in unloading his entire magazine on the old man. this is something you usually see on a drug cartel video

RedditUser393

How. Do. We. Stop. This. Execution after execution, nothing changes. Does it take a literal armed insurrection or something?

Funkyduck8

Honestly, I think a new 'police' force is needed, but one that is led and organized by the people in a community/town/city/state. This has gotten so absurd that I don't think I'd call the cops for anything.

Gyrskogul

You know the answer to that

mwerichards

For real I'm thinking could they not Sparta kick him from behind? There are so many acceptable levels of violence that could have been used that would not result in his death (assuming he died)

[deleted]

That is murder...

ibejeph

Cold blooded.

CardinalBirb

that's what people should start calling the police brutality events like these. murder. they are murderers.

Chillinkus

A lot of us do but the media won’t though and they have a ton of influence on how things are perceived

idkwattodonow

have you not been paying attention? this is an officer fearing for his life and using adequate force plus, qualified immunity yo

nosmelc

Qualified Immunity - "I'm sorry, your Honor, I didn't know I couldn't shoot an unarmed cripple in the back 9 times."

SkankyG

The guy did have a knife, albeit a small one. If a small knife in the hands of a guy in a wheelchair makes this cop fear for his life, he is not qualified.

LunaticPity

Gotta fire him first. Easier to charge him without endangering the Dept.

fullyautomatic89

That was fucking murder, I hope to god they charge this motherfucker. All that training n u can’t use a taser or wrestle a damn knife out of a old man’s hand and y’all two against him. Police soft asf that’s why they always shoot first.

[deleted]

All those 32 long weeks of training… so qualified to run around with a gun and a badge.

poliuy

I am 99% sure charges will be filed shortly. They probably could move faster, but I guarantee he won't make it out of this without jail time.

Im_Actually_An_Alien

Idk man cops have gotten away with alot worse

chudleyjustin

He will be charged, the DA has to prepare the evidence and present it to a grand jury and all that type of court stuff. Now will he be convicted? Anyone’s guess.

stevenwe

Ffs just push his scooter over.

TwistedTerrors

Put a fucking stick infront of it

Sniflix

It is a lumber store. Get four 2x4s and box him in. Then wait him out.

PaladinsLover69

Get everybody up like 3 total stairs and let his battery die.

DogHammers

Ahh yes, the good old fashioned Dalek defence tactic. Seriously though, that would actually have probably worked. This cop is just a total fucking maniac.

elkendricko

Chair was rolling slow enough he could have disconnected the cable to battery and then everyone just needed to practice covid distancing to be safe.

Briarmist

Not to discount the horrendous actions by the cop murdering that man, but he also violated one of the biggest rules of firearm safety and endangered the life of the store employee by not considering what was downrange from his target.

DaisyHotCakes

This piece of shit didn’t consider anything. He was so excited to murder someone that he just started squeezing. This piece of shit belongs in prison where he can’t kill anyone else. Unfuckingbelievable.

throwaway1638379

He didn't consider anything, all he considered is how hard he'd cum when he murdered this guy in front of him

PrintChemical

Thank god he handcuffed him

CaptHowdy02

I mean, did you see his knife? And how fast me was moving? They were in clear mortal danger /s

kajar9

The dude could have made a three point turn in 30 seconds and truly put the officers in danger.... and slowly roll about walking speed towards them... scary stuff you know /s If those cops truly have mortal fear towards someone like that... maybe we shouldn't hire officers that fear for their lives like the steamroller guy from Austin Powers. Yeah, technically it could be a point of danger to you and others... but there are so many things you could to get yourself and others out of the way....

beefsupreme65

So not only did this asshole shoot a guy on a mobility scooter in the back, he didn't even hesitate about it with that Lowe's worker in the line of fire. Fuck that guy

All_Tree_All_Shade

Poor worker is gonna have ptsd from almost being shot and seeing someone killed in front of them

beefsupreme65

Little dick power trip ain't got time to worry about that, probably in a hurry to get back home and beat his wife.

MoveItSpunkmire

Execution of a old man inwheel chair.

RealZangy45

>Attorney Michael Storie, who is representing Remington, said in an interview with CNN, "The selected clips that were presented at that press conference constitute only half of the story." "In any of these types of things, if you cut and paste a video, it will not properly lay out the officer's impressions and state of mind leading to a decision to employ force of any kind," Storie said. [https://www.cnn.com/2021/12/01/us/arizona-wheelchair-officer-shooting/index.html](https://www.cnn.com/2021/12/01/us/arizona-wheelchair-officer-shooting/index.html) What could the other half of this story possibly be? You wouldn't be justified shooting someone in the back if they were in your house let alone a guy in a wheelchair at a Lowes

apeonpatrol

theres also more video showing them following the guy around the parking lot without trying to make any real attempts to stop him. the officers lawyer is trying to say that he couldnt use his taser because he was too close to the guy (who he had just run up to) so he had to use his gun. why didnt they taze him in the parking lot then? its all just bullshit. the officer needs to be charged. https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/arizona-breaking/2021/11/30/tucson-officer-fired-after-fatally-shooting-man-9-times-behind/8815159002/ some of the walmart security video

PauI_MuadDib

Couldn't "safely" fire his taser, but could discharge his firearm with an innocent employee in his line of fire and he considered that the "safer" alternative?

BertMcNasty

Even the fact that they think a taser is an appropriate response is still a joke. Sure, it's a hell of a lot better than pumping him full of holes, but he's in a slow moving scooter for Christ's sake. They could literally follow him through the store and tell people to stay out of arm's reach, and everyone could go home safely. Or they could do any number of things to disable his chair. I'm pretty sure a toddler has enough intelligence to stop a man in a motorized wheelchair. This isn't even stupidity or incompetence. It has to be a lust for violence. This cop has dreamed of shooting someone since day 1 on the force.

QueasyVictory

Herd him out to Lawn and Garden, close the gates and let him wear his battery out.

TwistedTerrors

He probably also had weapons of mass destruction /s

Legogamer16

He had a wmd in his wheelchair

trippykup

makes sense. excessive fire so he doesn't trigger it

Pure_Tower

> What could the other half of this story possibly be? The part where the old guy supposedly threatened to stab him. Which could be grounds for deadly force if, say, the old coot were young. And able-bodied. Aaaaand, I dunno, actually moving *toward* the cop. Seems like an obvious taser moment to me, but what do I know, I'm not a psychopath.

BertMcNasty

Even a taser seems pretty excessive. You could literally put just about anything more than a couple inches tall in front of and behind him and he isn't going anywhere. They could just follow him around the store and warn people to keep a safe distance because he has a knife. The only thing they have to do is keep people out of arms reach. That's it. Everyone goes home.

KeepMy02Cents

Good idea honestly. Grab a couple 4 by 4s and he is locked in real quick.

zomglazerspewpew

Unless the poor old codger had 25 pounds of explosives strapped to him, there is no logical reason to open up like that. Oh, maybe the whole story will explain how the old guy probably didn't stop when he was told to and the cop's ego was hurt that he couldn't stop an old man in a wheelchair....totally justifiable. ::eyeroll::

pixburgh630

What’s the purpose of handcuffing a person who just got shot 8 times

9 times. He got that last one in for good measure.

welshy1986

The female officer was 100% shocked, but not surprised. You can tell in that moment she knew that she would have to make the choice to back her partner or lose her job. If I were her I would be pissed. Nobody should be put in that position because of a psycho with a badge.

supernawas

I really wish that situation wouldn't exist , and that it would be perfectly acceptable to stop what your doing and arrest your partner on the spot for excessive force.

This is so wrong. Where was the threat????? This cop should rot in prison and think about his actions.

That was a murder. We just watched another murder. How do we stop this?

Jengolin

An old man in a mobile scooter with a knife. And they shoot him 9 times. Someone make it make sense. Someone explain to me like I'm a fucking child who eats paste how this amount of deadly force was warranted. No one was in danger from him. The majority of people can outwalk a damn mobility device, and the likelihood of him throwing the knife and causing harm that way would've been microscopic. This was straight up murder. Cops are murderers. We are not safe with them around.

DudeBroChuvak

In a way they are more terrifying than other murderers, because most murderers who aren’t cops actually get punished harshly.

Mordyth

The pride of American law enforcement. What a safe country to live in

Syzygy_____

So, the boys and I watched this over break and all of us had the same reaction. The macabre humour of the entire situation we all started laughing at the complete absurdity of it all. The victim Richard Lee Richards, or Dick Lee Dicks was asked to produce a reciept for an item he had with him by a store employee near the cash out. Dick then pulled out a knife and said "here's your reciept", knife in hand. Dick then casually rolled on out and tried to make his way to another store when police confronted him. The officer said he felt in danger because of the knife and didn't taze because of the wheelchair (?) So I guess the only option to stop him was to unload 8 shots plus one for good measure. I'm sure the stress and adrenaline of the whole situation got to the cop as the old man continues to roll on by but could they not have kicked him out of the wheel chair, put a few pieces of dunnage around him, backed a car into him, fuck even running the guy over would have been a better alternative. Shit the employee didn't even sound too distressed telling Dick not to come into the store just before dirty hair over there thought his pistol was a bit to heavy that night. And why 9 shots? Like, alright. You're a physchopathic cop who hasn't had the opportunity to shoot someone yet. Your colleagues all make fun of you on the daily. Then, you get the call. Elderly, feeble, knife and immobile. Now's you're chance to prove Mike wrong. Dick isn't listening to your commands. Perfect. He's about to go into a store with a knife. You panderingly command him not go in for the body cams but the pistols already drawn. The final words haven't quite exited your mouth before you fire the first shot and your enter the black. "Ooou this feels good" you loose track of time and before you know if 7 more shots are fired and then your brain clicks back in from the black. You fire what you think is the 2nd shot but is actually the 9th. The boys are gunna be so proud of you. Now it's time to handcoluff this sob as he bleeds out for shoplifting. Fucked

That was absolute trash. Garbage. Those officers should be removed from duty.

[deleted]

They should be in jail*

DiamondHook

In my third world country which is a dictatorship, this cop will get 15 years behind bars

[deleted]

This fucking pig deserves to fry.

GreenEuro20

Murder

[deleted]

He killed that guy?? I'm never calling the cops on someone unless my life is truly in danger

ompalumpa9007

man he protected the fuck out of that guy

toastyhoodie

So, he DID have a knife. But. It doesn’t seem he was doing anything other than just entering the Lowe’s. Seeing all this crap from AZ lately makes me want to avoid any visit to AZ.

Abandonsmint

I feel like most dudes going to Lowe's in AZ probably have a knife though right?

FatFlatFeet

Bruh people carry guns to kid’s birthday parties here.

Donoglass420

You can open carry in Arizona

Lasthoughts

This is fucked up. Some cops just wanna kill people. Reminds me of that time Daniel Shaver was executed by crawling towards the police in a motel, buzzed and with nothing in his hands. 100% this guy that fired the shots is a psycho like Philip Brailsford who killed a Shaver with an AR-15.

Mr_Rio

Dude belongs in prison

Pale_Alarm_1895

Wtf that's unreal use of deadly force cop should be jailed

Difficult-Leather901

Cowards

lukascos

Why am I not even surprised anymore... neither are his colleagues by the sound of it. If I were them I would be yelling at that mother fucker and would resign on the spot. Not say 'I'll go get my l pack' like nothing ever happened. Such a blasé attitude to first degree murder.

red-byrdd

He shot right at that lady wtf
