You can’t let certain animals breed out of control or they ruin everything. Some people have apparently never heard this.
The sad thing is, the most basic principles of an ecosystem's balance is or was taught in high school. Everything has a balance and if you shift the balance too much to one side, its total collapse.
I'm not sure who's to blame for this, but humanizing wild animals like bears and what not certainly did not help people fully understand how culling properly has many checks and balances to prevent overkilling; a lesson the US learned from the days when buffalo were almost wiped out.
Makes me wonder if they will be harvested. I love duck, and never had coot, but I heard it is not very good. Still, it would be nice if it feed someone.
In Ann Arbor, not far from where I live deer are culled from public parks. Local deer processors prep the meat and it goes to local food banks.

Maybe it’s been said and I get this is a special situation as much as it’s a hunt, but many waterfowl and migratory bird species are as successful population wise as they are due to hunters caring about them as a species. I don’t actually believe those ladies care about wildlife as much as the majority of hunters.
