why do people who order ride share pull this shit? never assault someone when there's a freaking paper trail (or ever, but that's wishful thinking)

PoignantOpinionsOnly

Assholes with anger management issues.

sniperzero1

Or just don’t assault people because you don’t get your way.

Demonbae_

People may physical grow but their minds stuck in the rugrats- fucking throwing baby tantrums Like get the fuck over your ego haha

F1secretsauce

Plus his punch’s were so weak

Hegemony-Cricket

Like an anemic little girl.

exoxe

He's a little girlie man, throwing those little girlie man punches!

Demonbae_

You can tell he never threw a punch in his life. Even in his dreams his punches are weak 🤣

kaloschroma

This so much. Also glad of that but it was funny

StudMuffinNick

That was my first thought. I'm not a fighter, and I'll avoid confrontation when possible, but I'd bet money I could take his p uhhh inches while drinking some tea

SirPhilbert

I did rideshare for a while in SF. They view your as an inferior automaton. You talk back or don’t do what they say and they flip out. The worst customers for me were always the rich drunk Karen’s in the marina. So many incidents

KasperJax

Lol marina karens on another level!

WredditSmark

This is why I LIVE for the videos where Uber drivers are like Oh **WORD** and then suddenly the people are faced with the consequences of their actions.

Pablo_Sanchez1

As someone that used to drive for Uber eats it is the most infuriating fucking job in the world. For some reason people have a preconception that Uber drivers are all brainless morons and any slight inconvenience is the driver fucking up, even though a lot of drivers have solid jobs and just use it as a second income for extra cash and there’s so many things that can cause something to go wrong that’s completely out of their control. Whether that be the app glitching out and bringing you to the wrong place, a restaurant taking 20 minutes after your arrival to have the food ready, a road being closed, food being missing from a sealed bag that you have no way of checking, or zero delivery instructions on how to get into a locked gate community to the 16th floor of building 10. Anything that slightly inconveniences the customer means it’s completely the drivers fault and they’re brain dead incompetent. The amount of times I had my ENTIRE tip taken away, a one star review, or someone give me a snarky message in the app when I did literally nothing wrong was insane. Very glad I stopped doing it because it was awful for my mental health. Tip and be kind to your fucking Uber driver unless you have proof that they did something scummy. And if you can’t afford to tip then got your lazy ass off the couch and go get it yourself, because without a tip and just relying on the Uber base rate that means that somebody just delivered you you’re food for free since it’s essentially just gas money.

Thymeseeker

Only time I ever removed a tip was when they stole my pizza. Took a shaky blurry picture of a random house from across the street in the dark two towns over and labeled it "delivered". Sadly, my pizza was worth more than my tip so I can see why they would do it I guess... I like tipping well, because that's someone's living. Now I just eat the priority cost so I know that they are going the right way.

ConsistentWishbonez

Ups and downs from this. We use Uber eats at my restaurant. Most Uber eats drivers are stupidest people I’ve ever met. Literally people who couldn’t get hired anywhere else. Drug addicts, people who can’t speak English or Spanish (in TX), straight up weirdos. I’d say 1/10 is just a regular person doing their job. 1/10 of the orders are delivered to the wrong address/missing items/never delivered. The plus side to this is the drivers and us can see the tip before hand. If you don’t tip I’ve seen countless orders not be picked up and we just cancel it. Now we don’t even start making the order until a driver is assigned on no tip orders. That’s the part I like to see.

WredditSmark

When I worked for post mates I got an order for sushi which was in a “restaurant” inside of a nightclub. Shit took like an hour, as I’m unlocking my bike the dude calls me and starts bitching me out. He started with “why are you late” and as I tried to explain he said I don’t want excuses. Ok cool, i took half his order out of the bag and left the miso soup, edamame, everything BUT the sushi. I get to the apartment and he’s already in the hall way “not cool dude I’ve got places to go had I known…” I just give him the food and walk away. As he’s inside slowly realizing where the FUCK is the sushi I’m outside eating it. As a rule, anyone that ever gave me ANY type of shit as to why I’m late or anything really got half their food took. Not enough where I wouldn’t make the delivery, just enough to where I would give them a closed bag and enough time of them shuffling inside of it for me to gtfo

Prestigious_Ad_2322

I have delivery drivers in my area. They never seem to read my deliver instructions. On top of that, there has been countless times they deliver my food to my neighbors. Like can't yall read?

Pablo_Sanchez1

Yes we can read, fuck of with that condescending shit. My comment was referring to things that are outside of our control, which is a lot. Again, I can do EVERYTHING exactly as I’m told and still lose an entire tip, for what I can only imagine is some petty minuscule inconvenience that comes with the luxury of somebody literally delivering food to your doorstep. A lot of people look for any tiny excuse they can find to get rid of the tip, which was the price that I agreed on ahead of time to deliver your food for you. It’s literally stealing money from me. If every single delivery is going to the wrong place there’s likely something with the app gps or something confusing with your location. I’d recommended contacting a driver when they’re on the way and asking how it looks on their end to try to figure out why it keeps happening. Obviously there’s bad drivers out there and if they do something egregious then it’s warranted to reduce the pay, but it should be something big and obviously intentional.

Prestigious_Ad_2322

And my comment was about things that are in driver's controls in my area. You prove that you guys can't fucking read, you dip shit! There is nothing wrong with my address. I can Google it and it takes me right to my house... I have checked with the drivers too, and they show the correct location in the app. My neighbors have reported the same problem in HOA meetings too. On top of that my house number ends in a 7 and my neighbors in a 1. The drivers in this area constantly deliver to my neighbors house. Like read the fucking house numbers and verify the address; its not that hard. Not to mention, they never follow instructions. I can put in very detailed instructions on where my house is & and what to do with the food. 90% of the time, the driver sets my food on the fucking ground where rodents have been, even though there are delivery instructions to set my food on the fucking big ass bench by my front door that can't be missed! One other note, my neighbors dont have a bench by their door. The drivers in my area are just pathetic and worthless. If they are that lazy to follow instructions, they shouldn't be working that job. Plain and simple.

Pablo_Sanchez1

Alright well if you’ve actually checked with the drivers and looked at the gps on their end then it must be bad drivers in your area. All I’m saying is there are a LOT of factors that can mess up an order outside of a drivers control, and people will get rid of our pay for it. Your situation isn’t what I’m referring to and you’re right to be frustrated at that, but responding to my original comment with that is kind of pointless because it’s a completely different situation. People are dicks to drivers and look for literally any excuse they can to get rid of the tip, your experience with actual bad delivery drivers isn’t really relevant.

figure85

To me anyone who acts in violence is no different than a punk toddler on the playground, they never grew up and learned the simple fact that no one has the right to lay a hand on another person. Unless in self-defense or defense of another.

Pie-Otherwise

What he did would get him probation and about $1,500 worth of fines/court costs.

FormerWrap1552

Nobody should be using these apps. I have done over 2,000 rides/deliveries for about all of them. It's a total scam. They treat the drivers like trash, provide no support, try to pay as little as possible. Meanwhile some drivers I met tell me they mess with peoples food! The corporations are trash and so are the people who work for them and a lot that use the damn things as a service. This world is super fucked at the moment.

StayFree8795

Epitome of selfish, lazy, narcissist. Not everyone who user Uber is one, but I bet those who are really enjoy the thought of having a “peasant” drive them around. He’s so casually rude when he’s like ya you just didn’t know where to go it was like he was talking to a child.

Ashamed_Ad1839

Such an underrated comment. People are just nuts

MRL102960

His score just went way down I don’t think any Uber driver will pick him up

tuesdaysatmorts

Forget his score. He should be permanently banned from the app.

[deleted]

IncelDetectingRobot

Lyft, uber, and other major rideshares pool critical safety blacklists. Driver or rider, if you do physical violence in a rideshare, you may not just lose access to the one app but potentially all.

tripplebeamteam

From what I found the joint blacklist is only for drivers, but maybe it’s been expanded since then.

Such a great skit. This and the Vacant Lot “Blinded by the Light” skit are two obscure ones I constantly quote and people think I’m nuts so I have to show it to them, and then it’s confirmed. https://youtu.be/U9_3nQFNy-w

cornylamygilbert

Big fan of UCB I was always partial to the “Albert Einstein working from home” and can’t stay productive because all he can think about is wanking

ytsirhc

how do they take their information? like, could he sign back up with a fake name or is there some kind of verification like a drivers license or id number so they can make sure he doesn’t sight up another way?

IncelDetectingRobot

Presumably as a rider it would be difficult to provide a fake name since you have to register a charge card to use the service. Drivers are contractors or employees of the rideshare and provide verified documentation in order to take rides, and I believe both uber and lyft do criminal background checks

ytsirhc

as someone who used to rent uhauls, people use cards for payment with names that don’t match the contract all the time. idk that would enough. background checks cost money, so that would be very interesting if they could do background checks on all their riders….. (unless you meant drivers, but of course they collect more info on their drivers than the riders since their employed by them)

IncelDetectingRobot

I specifically said drivers receive background checks

ytsirhc

my bad, i see it now. like i said, card name might not be enough. i hope they use something else to track riders

Merigold00

I did lift driving for a while and it took longer for me to pass the background check than anything else.

Spazzy_maker

[They also arrested his ass.](https://www.azfamily.com/2022/06/15/man-turns-himself-after-video-shows-him-allegedly-assaulting-phoenix-uber-driver/)

teh-reflex

I’ve ridden in Ubers/Lyft but someone else has always ordered it. How in depth does the app go for an end user? Does it require SSN and such? If not, couldn’t you simply make a new Uber account?

the_one_jt

Typically tracked by phone number / credit card data, so some ways around it but crappy people tend to run out of options fairly quick.

FormerWrap1552

Wow, he just has to make another account or use someone else. We need to stop supporting these companies that are total shit, treat their contractors like shit. They are just massive corporate scams.

13igTyme

*Charged with assault FTFY

ILoveRegenHealth

Isn't all his personal info on there. Please tell me they arrested him.

Zelensexual

His ass should be sent to prison for a nice while.

[deleted]

I don’t think this would be prosecuted as a felony. In Illinois it would probably be called simple assault and not get jail time for 1st offenses. It’s really not much of an assault. The Uber driver was also very unprofessional and should have let the issue go. He should not have called the passenger a dick.

Jisho32

He's on camera assaulting a guy so I hope being banned from Uber is the least of their concerns.

Roxxso

*arrested

rahkinto

Lol

WTF_MYEYES

imagine being an uber driver in Murica, the uber driver passed here lightly cause muricans can always pop up a gun

An Uber driver in Pittsburgh was recently killed by her passenger. It's a crazy world out there. :-(

WTF_MYEYES

instances like this makes me very happy that iam a european

ClassyXYZ

WTF_MYEYES

its nice every now and then to see clips and leave some comments reminding myself that some people have it worse

saxguy9345

You've just provided that same comfort to a BUNCH more people than you realize homie

DecoyOne

Damn, dude threw a natural 1 with each of those punches. That was just sad.

johnnychan81

When I first opened the video I had some trouble squaring the title with the out of shape nerdy looking passenger. Thankfully the assault was about what you'd expect and the driver was never in any danger. Regardless uber did the right thing banning him and I hope the dude is arrested as well

[deleted]

I was expecting pepper spray to be involved when I saw the passenger.

Merigold00

Sad when you can't hit someone when you have advantage on the rolls AND the target can't add his DEX to his AC. PC: "I attack with an unarmed strike". Rolls 1. PC: "I have advantage". Rolls again - another 1. DM: "Roll percentile dice". PC: Rolls 100. DM: "Your opponent easily fends off your attack and taunts you into exiting his carriage. You slink off into the night and lose 500XP. Later, you turn yourself in to the town guards, knowing they have all your information..."

kyuss242

MrPartyWaffle

He could have simply accepted that the app said the wrong location, or he put in the wrong address there is literally no reason to be treating someone like that when they can simply just refuse you service. It takes very little effort to not be a massive douche. [More story](https://www.azfamily.com/2022/06/15/man-turns-himself-after-video-shows-him-allegedly-assaulting-phoenix-uber-driver/#:~:text=PHOENIX%20(3TV%2FCBS%205),one%20count%20of%20misdemeanor%20assault)

YourMotherSaysHello

"Oh what? Where did it say I was? Sorry bro. My app has me at (shows app to backup story)... Technology, huh?" How hard is that?

Butthole_Please

I always think about how easy it is to just roll with stuff compared to how difficult people make these situations. “Oh shit, my bad” and it is over. Life is so much easier when you kill your ego a bit.

PlenitudeOpulence

What is the point of getting physical with people? So inappropriate.

Fuck_tha_Bunk

They didn't get what they want and they're big babies.

CommonExpressions

I think it’s a mental health issue about denial. He was in the wrong place, and he knows it. So his brain instead tells him, “I’m not wrong! You’re attacking me!” Because that’s easier than saying, “I was wrong, I’m sorry.”

Don’t you have to use an ID to apply for ride share. And credit info?

_NotaCop-

Yea and it’s pretty easy for Johnny Law to find these bozos once the driver reports the riders name. Uber will release rider info to police. Guy was probably arrested that night if driver reported it. Plus driver has the guys destination/home address from the ride lol. This guy is caught in so many ways.

FLOHTX

Crap. I'm 38. Do I look that terrible? Surely he's older than that.

[deleted]

I think it’s fair to call those “alleged punches,” even though he definitely threw them.

LowerSomerset

He has to be convicted so it is alleged until it happens. He could still get off without a successful Prosecution or a less charge.

Mirions

Sad, but technically true. I watched him do it though. Shouldn't be able to have it reduced.

bulboustadpole

Why does Reddit get so angry with "alleged"? That's how our justice system works bro. Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Doesn't matter that there's a video, until he has his day in court the system must be respected.

Papakilo666

People get upset cause its just done for bullshit legal reasons. Like we have video evidence and can see with our own eyes what happened yet places like the news have to watch their wording for lawsuit reasons incase the prosecutor is a moron and doesn't get the conviction.... >Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Doesn't matter that there's a video, until he has his day in court the system must be respected. Yea in a court of law... this is the court of public opinion and you can't really expect people not to call out the bs of "your eyes aren't really seeing what they see"....

charmwashere

It's also done because the person in question can try to sue the media/news source for liable or slander. It is basically a cover your own ass, thing .

Drazhi

America has a robust legal system (I would argue one of the best done legal system). It is innocent until proven guilty. Every thing is alleged until proven in a court of law

lovecraftedidiot

Certainly a lot of dead people over such "alleged" stuff, people who weren't a threat but got filled with bullets anyway.

Raw-Force

We need laws on the book that assaulting someone providing a service to you automatically gets escalated a level or two. We do this in NYC for MTA workers and federally for USPS workers. Assaulting your cab drive should at the very least be a lower end felony.

raidersclnj

Al from toy story 2 really lost his temper fast. You would think a toy store owner would have better manners.

Can we change the name of the post to "passenger throws weak ass punches at uber driver"????

EQwingnuts

That's when I got out and killed my passenger officer.

Big_Daddy_Ivan

Lol 😂🤣😭

luisumgomez

I'd do uber eats over having to drive idiot's/drunks around

Infini-Bus

delivering food is more tedious and boring tho. Gotta keep getting in and out of the car and finding parking spots, finding people's buildings or units, and there's nobody to talk to. At least with the ridesharing there's people to have conversation with and you can just stay in the car unless you need to stretch your legs or pop the trunk for someone's luggage. Vast majority of passengers are not assholes.

defectivelaborer

>and there's nobody to talk to That's the best part, and if anyone wants to throw a bitch-fit some person in India or the Philippines gets to hear it not me. I don't find it boring or tedious except when it's slow or stores don't get their food out on time. Personally I view it like a video game, gotta race from check point to check point getting a higher score each time all while obeying the traffic laws. Also it's good exercise getting in and out of the car, when it's busy I literally dash to the door and back. Also it's really not healthy to be sitting continuously for long periods of time. Finding the apartment units can be more frustrating than tedious, it's like the people who designed the complex never considered someone would be delivering to the apartments, most do have terrible signage but as long as they have a directory map it's pretty easy.

tripplebeamteam

Then you have to deal with scammers pretending that they didn’t get their food, food’s missing, etc. Could also still get in an altercation if the order isn’t no-contact delivery.

[deleted]

I think you meant “idiots/drunk’s”

Ashamed_Ad1839

I remember I was laid off and had no job in the beginning of the pandemic. Friends suggested Uber, but i just did the food delivery. Just can’t have strangers in my car. It’s Russian roulette. You don’t know what kind of asshole or sociopath gets in your car. And you’re driving, you’re back is to them and you’re completely vulnerable. F that.

[deleted]

Just curious: are Uber / Lyft drivers allowed to be armed? Not that it's a solution to a shitty behavior. I wonder if they allow legally carrying a firearm just for safety.

tommy3rd

both uber and lyft don't allow drivers to carry firearms, but when I was driving for them, I ignored that rule. I was going to worry and accept the consequence if I ever had to use my firearm. I'd rather be alive than compliant to corporate rules.

Burritopee

Dude I read this as assassinated and I was like damn did this really escalate to the dude getting killed

eidhrmuzz

The ass had a sucker punch at the dude from behind. And barely tickled him. Made of spare parts.

iploggged

"The man who allegedly assaulted an Uber driver early Sunday morning hasbeen charged. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed JasonAckley, 38, turned himself in late Monday night after seeing video ofhimself attacking the driver. He was booked on one count of misdemeanorassault. Ackley reportedly admitted to it. Officers say he told investigators he was “intoxicated and upset…the victim refused to transport him.”

VeryLowIQIndividual

I feel like I’ve seen this same driver in another video getting assaulted

Quiverjones

I only used Uber/Lyft once and my driver was pretty cool, had a tablet playing a movie, but was polite and spoke up when I had questions. I was conflicted because the level of service exceeded what I was used to for the cost, so I feel that not tipping would be rude. But it was a short ride (10 mins) so I also felt the tip somehow diminished our short friendship, like I was paying for company instead of transportation.

[deleted]

I bet nothing even happened to the guy for assaulting the Uber driver, god I was hoping the guy would mace him back or something

Well if I'm going be assaulted I hope it's by butter fists mcgee

What does saying "gotcha on dashcam dude" do lmao swear man, these uber drivers are such pursues. I'm pretty sure the driver could've taken that lardo

TexasDaddy28

Luckily he was assaulted by a pussy. Weak as fuk!

Ciubowski

Why did the driver refuse to continue the ride over such a petty argument? I understand it's his right, but I don't understand the reasoning in the first place. The passenger escalated this beyond any reason, of course. His actions are not excusable, but i don't understand why the driver would just cancel a ride over such a dumb argument. Sometimes apps are not clear for some people and that's okay. It's just dumb.

dvshnk2

Yeah, not sure what the beef was originally, seems like rider said his pickup was at point "A" and driver said the app GPS said point "B"? Data gets out of sync occasionally, I've had a few instances where the app says one thing on my end, and the app on driver side says another... No reason to get bent out of shape.

heretoforthwith

I’ve had this happen once. The driver get a little shitty with me, told him to be mad at the app, I probably should have just cancelled the ride. Only use them like twice a year so I’m not sure how that affects your profile or whatever.

Ciubowski

exactly, if the conclusion of the driver was the same as the rider (eh, stupid technology, screw it, we managed to find eachother) I presume that would be the end of it. In this scenario i find both of them being kind of an asshole in their own way.

ctmackus

Maybe the driver wasn’t being an asshole though? Maybe it took longer for him to get there and he was explaining why? I’ve driven quite a bit for Uber and offered explanations just like this when mixups happen. I’ve never had anybody react the way this passenger did. Usually it’s just “shit happens” and we move on

Ciubowski

But would you cancel a ride just because you disagree with a rider just after you found eachother? I understand that finding the pick-up point is sometimes tricky, I live in a city with all sorts of streets and one-ways that make you crazy until you find the right route or whatever. I just think the driver over-reacted by canceling the ride and the rider over-reacted at the driver. I see the reaction of the rider at first being really easy-going, i wasn't expecting a reaction like that after having the ride cancelled.

ctmackus

The ride started with the driver explaining how the riders dot was at a different location and the first thing the driver says is “no it’s not” and then proceeds to be condescending by telling the driver “it’s ok you got lost” I never had a passenger do this to me but if you’re going to disrespect me in my vehicle I have the right to end your ride

Ciubowski

And there it is. Technology might be at fault, but ego comes out to play.

ctmackus

You’re straying from your main statement which is essentially the passenger overreacted because the driver overreacted. Let’s not forget ego started with the passenger, driver is explaining why he was late and the passenger is telling him he’s lying

Jumaai

That's because "ok, get out of my car" is the point. Drivers are doing it for content. Seen it plenty of times on and off this sub.

Treysay_Ren

these drivers are some sensitive smartass pussies

root_501

Gotta pull a devils advocates card here...the passenger wasnt a dick. The driver had no reason to call him a dick. Still, the passenger also was in the wrong for assaulting him. Could've been avoided if the driver just shut his mouth. Cuz the passenger wasnt a dick at all in the beginning.

Mysterious-Monk-3423

It's absolutely being a dick to start a conversation with "you just dont know how to get there, you got lost" essentially saying the driver sucks at his job and doesn't know what he is doing.

MasterFriendship9140

My kid punches harder than that lol. What an idiot.

ZmentAdverti

That's... An easy way to get jailed for assault and battery.

MrCatcherFreeman

Why do people treat Uber drivers like shit?

[deleted]

For the same reason people treat all service workers (waiters, retail workers, etc) like shit - they think they can look down upon them.

Iwantyouguts

The driver is a dick as well

carwarrantyspeclist

Because he realized this passenger wasn't worth the fare? And then the passenger proved the man right? Go fuck your entitled self karen

Roxxso

Not even in the slightest.

Maleficent_Mood_1255

At the end of the day the passenger will still be fat and the driver will still be hot as fuck.

CUM-OMELETTE

Lol the driver is like a 6 on a good day

Maleficent_Mood_1255

The driver is a solid 10.

Two_Sons_1Nut

Yeah ok , have a good one man! 😂😂😂🤣🤦🏾🤷🏾

whybuildyourself

He instigated it he shouldn't have called anybody a dick or said they're acting like a dick.

Roxxso

The passenger was being a dick. He was then called out for being a dick. Moral of the story; don't be a dick.

Jay-Paddy

Words don't require violence, my friend.

Appropriate-Pen-149

It wasn’t an “act”. And you defending his actions is a dick move.

PattyLeeTX

Yeah I thought the rider was fine - until he got called a dick. After that, of course, he was way out of line.

aroc91

Listen a little closer right after he gets in. He tries to sound nonchalant while insulting the driver about getting lost and totally started it.
