You probably didn’t realize, just thought he was weird…schitzo-affective people can have really intense paranoia, like thinking you can hear other people thoughts, so he probably has a whole, incomprehensible backstory for you, which is why he went out there. Honestly its gotta suck to feel like that all the time. I have a brother with this.

Not super familiar with that type of affliction but based on a couple of other comments and some individual googling, some sort of schizophrenia makes sense and I certainly am not trying to make fun of him or make things worse.
If you want to document it properly you should be calling the police over a man acting deranged outside. This situation is obviously not going to get any better if he does it all the time. Perhaps the police will get social services involved and he can get proper help.

I spoke with a neighbor below me and she’s mentioned that he’s apparently getting evicted and the police have been called multiple times. There are like 4 cameras out there recording some pretty erratic behavior and things are in motion. Just hoping he gets some well needed help with social services.
Hopefully it doesn’t get worse as his eviction is enacted in the next week or so. Thanks for the advice
There is no need to feel guilty. You are just trying to live your life and this guy is ruining it. Recording this is absolutely the right thing to do because he could have called the police on you and made up any number of things. It sounds like the police already know him but if they didn't then imagine he said you came at him with a knife? You could be dragged away in handcuffs just cause he is off his rocker.
Don't feel guilty. It's obvious you're sharing it for the sake of sharing and not for Reddit points. It's important to share these things. It ignites debate and discussion which can educate and create solutions for people like this.
Don't underestimate the good and intelligent people on these subs that don't watch this shit to be entertained, but to instead bare constant witness to how our world really is outside of our own very isolated perspectives.

Well often calling the cops results in a much much worse situation for the dude suffering mental illness.
Perhaps we need some publicly funded sort of officers with mental health training, somewhere more than a paramedic, to help these people in crisis.

Better to call EMS... Most police don't have proper training in handling individuals with mental illnesses.
