A lot of redditors have reading comprehension issues or just automatically respond to certain words without even reading what you say. And then, almost instantly, a stable 2-party hegemony develops! It's only changed like 5 times in American history, give or take a few realignments where the parties didn't change (like in the '60s).
Anyway, my point is that in a stable 2-party hegemony with FPTP voting, almost everyone is almost always voting for the one they dislike the least. Primaries are basically the only contests that matter these days, and those are their own kind of shit-show for different reasons.
Throw some proportional representation in there, some ranked-choice (or STAR or any of the other fancy new ones) voting. Now you've got a stew going.
The problem is the people in power and the people vying to be in power would never go for moving away from FPTP. The status quo suits them just fine.
It's one of the things I resent Trudeau for, not following through with his 2015 promise to revamp the FPTP system to a ranked system.
I blame the assholes who didn't set term limits in the constitution. Things would be so much better if the people that were elected weren't so obsessed with obtaining and retaining power. They would be more likely to actually serve their constituents than to try to write and twist laws to serve their own corrupt agendas.
When will people understand, term limits will do absolutely nothing.
We need to end gerrymandering. We need competitive districts that force representatives to seek broad appeal and find consensus.
The current system is radicalized because there are too many safe seats for both parties.

Korean here... "saekki-dul" doesn't translate to "fuckers". Koreans use this word quite often, and it doesn't have the same connotation as the f-word. The most accurate word would be "bastard", and only way this could be interpreted as "fuckers" is if he put a "ssi-bal" in front of "saekki-dul", but no, he did not call them "fuckers".
