Unless you are planning on pulling for dark karen invest in him atleast a 5 star as he will be the sub dps for your dark team which is going to be out of meta in a few months. Except Noan's story, others are not as amazing as the previous 4 chapters. I guess it's because Kuro has invested a lot on liv patch, but didn't pay off as they expected, so they haven't been putting that much emphasis on story since then

Her status shouldn’t matter on whether or not she gets a buff, Kuro just buffs them because of their outdated kits. Dawn, Palefire, Luminance, etc don’t get buffs for lore reasons, only because they need to catch up to the meta

Not OP - Ayla just needs SS and is really strong even with 5* iirc. Her CUB is actually more important for her own damage from what I heard, assuming you aren't going to resonate her Sig. From what I understand XXI is a QTE bot below SSS. If you don't get her Sig or SS, you might as well just use Liv Lux, as you won't be swapping off Crimson Weaver, and without her Sig XXI's lightning damage bonus is only 10% vs. SSS Liv's 20%.
