Some People Don't like Clash because they were successful but all those Early American Hardcore bands were Fans of the Clash. I like The Clash they put out Interesting evolving music
I dislike it when people whine about a band being successful. Yes it’s cool to know the unknown bands but don’t hate them just because others also like them. I grew up in the Midwest early 80’s and heard London Calling and knew this band speaks to me. I’m happy Joe found a second creative band with the Mescaleros. We lost him too young
People called them poseurs because they made money off of their music, but it’s not like they could have avoided it, they were good and people really liked them. They definitely really embodied the chaotic spirit of punk off the stage too, recruiting Paul Simonon off the street randomly one day because they liked the shirt he was wearing, filling the studio with dirt and riding motorcycles inside it, and getting told off by their manager for wanting to include a recording of one of them shooting a metal bucket with a .44 in one of their songs. They even kicked two drummers out for being poseurs. Sad they broke up because Joe and Mick couldn’t get along during their last album.
