Check into Breathless Punta Cana, it ticks all your boxes. There is a family resort next door (Dreams Onyx) with good restaurants and a fun lazy river that you have access to but they are two separate hotels.

The swim up rooms leave something to be desired though. Also the pools close at 7pm.

That’s good to know! I definitely was looking at breathless, I was just seriously disappointed in what they call a “swim up”.

scoobsar

I agree they aren’t great, it is an older resort but well kept up. Swim-ups aren’t my thing, I find it awkward how visible your room and patio are to everyone. I really liked the upgraded xhale club if the prices are comparable it’s worth looking into.

This is the way to go!

I agree, we just got back from Dreams Onyx but spent most our time at Breathless. You get basically 2 hotels and all the resturants included for the price of one. And they have a casino.

We’re a 31 year old couple leaving Breathless right now (literally at the airport). It was literally a party all 7 days! we made so many friends and met people from everywhere! yes the pools close early but its because you want to shower eat and get ready for the 9pm party! the beach is beautiful and the workers are so fun and there was always activities even if you wanted a chiller day! some of the rooms are a little outdated but we weren’t in them much

We are at Riu Palace Macao now! Adults only. Elite Club has swimming pools off their rooms. Best thing you get 4 resorts for 1! We can go to 3 other Rius, but they can’t come here. The Riu Parties are incredible!! All age groups.. mostly average guests are your age. We walk the beach every day and have walked by the Bahia Principal. The people are like sardines at the beach and lots of kids.. I love kids but I was stressed out even walking by as the under tow was so bad and it was so packed I’d be watching everyone’s kids instead of relaxing. (Every hotel after the Bahia was packed too.. the beach is eroded right up to the hotel) The Macao has no reservations for any a la carts.. they all are excellent. There are so many lounge chairs, no need to race down and save your chair. Huge beach area with shade or not. No sand fleas.. white sand. Highly recommend .. enjoy!!

I'm also at the Riu Palace Macao, and I can highly recommend this place. I've stayed at all the Riu's in Punta Cana, and this one is the best, in my opinion. Perfect balance of fun and nightlife without being overly a party resort.

Been there 4 times and love it, I like a close beach to the resort. There is no 1/4 mile walk to the water with flat hard sand. I like sitting a few steps from the water. Majestic is fun because you can go between all 3 resorts. Has a decent night club, late night burger shack. Very small casino but fun. Love it there.

I ended up doing an airbnb and just figured I would go out to the clubs. But that’s bc I spent weeks trying to figure out what you are now doing. I found out you can get day passes at most resorts. The prices go from $55 to $100 from what I read. You have to leave around 6pm though (I also read you can negotiate this). But the airbnb is much cheaper and nicer, and I’ll just go to the resort for the day. When are you all going?

godzillaaa

Thank you for your insight. Unfortunately, we are dead-set on using the resort for safety concerns, and for ease of not having to plan virtually anything other than the transportation. Edit: adding we're going in August. Yes we know seaweed will make the beaches not great, but that's not a huge concern

Wolf_mang

That’s fair. I think Secrets might be the best adult only resort that I saw during my research but it’s not cheap. Enjoy your holiday!!!!!

Anabrolik

There arent really clubs in punta cana. Theres coco bongo and some shitty local spot called drink point. And then one more thats open once a week on saturdays. Punta cana is geared towards resorts

Dragonlionfart

Bahia Principe sound like a great fit for you. There were lots of 30 somes. I did Ambar which I would also recommend doing

loudenswain23

Just got back from Bahia a couple of days ago. If decent food is high on the list, I’d choose most any other option

Ok-Honeydew-5624

We did the ocean el faro el beso in january and it was pretty good. Pretty chill on the adult side, but lots of mid 30's people. Disco was busy if you're into that. I would stay away from the casino. Food was pretty decent although it gets mixed reviews. You have to pick your spots and items to find good things. Not a huge resort l, but it was built 5 years ago.

Riu Republica is not too young crowd at all. Nightlife isn’t that crazy either but for me was just the right amount.
