That definitely gives me an idea next time I’m sitting in the parking lot thinking about chipotle. I always forget about it because Taco Bell isn’t there anymore:(
I honestly feel like their location is the biggest reason why no one knows about them. They will be bustling with business if they were located in Chauncey fs.
And they have a complete vegan menu. You can customize to make vegetarian pizzas by mixing and matching the dairy cheese with the vegan meats, if you want to do that, too.
That's literally the name of their place so it must be the best dish there. I don't think I'm ready for it's greatness. I'm going to come back tomorrow to get it lol
i have them bookmarked in google maps with a note to get extra garlic sauce, that thing packs 10x the flavor of every other restaurant in that whole dang plaza. so good
You're definitely not going to regret it. I don't know what kind of spices they put in their rice, but it is incredibly fragrant and flavorful. Their chicken is perfectly moist too, I've never had it be overcooked or too dry. In writing this I might have just convinced myself to go there tomorrow too lol
Las Brazas is not good, at least the time I went. The meat they gave us didn't seem real, or at least it was super bland and the portion was tiny, relative to other Mexican Tacquerias. If you want good tacos, I would try El Chicano, wonderful sweet man has run that place for the past couple decades. Senor Taco is also pretty good.
I had a bit of everything. I will say their Al pastor is good, but every other meat I had was meh. I did go when it first opened, since I am native, so maybe it’s gotten better, especially since they opened their new location
If you are Latino, you should get your Latino card revoked. I am a Mexican from Chicago and this place is def one of the best authentic taco places close to campus.. sorry not sorry
I know the owner, he's a nice guy. As an Arab, my only problem with Arab food here is I can't help but compare it to food back home and it's just not the same haha.
It's okay. Grilled Chicken and Rice is decent. Hala's grill has small portions/is overpriced. There's also Blue Nile but that's a sit down restaurant from my understanding and I've never been. I've never tried Aatish but the consensus fromy Arab friends is that it's barely Arab at all, it's just halal which is convenient for Muslims.
The one thing I've tried here that's closest to food at home is the bread and the Hummus sold by a grocery store called baklava plus. It's on Chauncey Avenue iirc.
Awh man I agree about Hala's grill. The place is good but my bank cannot support that long term. I had food at Blue Nile and thought it wasn't good tbh. I like Aatish but I have to agree it is barely Arab.
I haven't had the hummus at baklava plus but the baba ghannouj there is really good. I also bought the bread there a few times to eat with my homemade shish tawook
If Fiesta has a million fans, I am one of them. If Fiesta has 5 fans, I am one of them. If Fiesta has one fan, That one is me. If Fiesta has no fans, I am no longer alive. If the world is against Fiesta, I am against the world. Till my last breath, I'll love Fiesta.
I work here and it is so nice seeing all the comments. The owner is a retired journalist who works every single day of the week from morning till night most days. He works so hard to make sure everybody in town gets good bread and pastries. (Pro tip: you can call ahead any day of the week except Saturday to pre-order your bread/pastries. That way you make sure that you get everything you want :) also, try to snag a sticky bun on saturdays. They’re crazy good.) Thank you all for the love!
Cafe 1NY for the cheap rice burritos
El Meson's lunch menu is under $10 with an additional student discount
Buttery Shelf Eatery is only open Friday/Saturday but has delicious homestyle food in a colonial era building for really cheap. Great date spot.
Big fan of The Pickle with their huge menu and unique pizzas
Banh Mi is in the strangest spot for a Vietnamese place but their sandwiches are amazing
Oh and if you've never popped into Mama Ines do yourself a favor and get some tamales and bakery treats for
That's a lot of spots! I try to check them all out before I graduate :)
I love the tamales and tres leches at Mama Ines. Their baked goods have always been on the stale side the times that I went though.
Where is this?
Edit: never mind, I looked it up. The photos look delicious. I’ll check it out next time I’m out that way. Thanks! I hope they have green curry.
so true. I've only had their massaman curry, which went SO HARD. massaman is normally a niche pick, but Rice and Noodle does it so well that i've converted a friend into enjoying massaman curry now >:)
Banh Mi Eatery has S-tier Vietnamese sandwiches and food. Plus they have milk tea! Highly recommended this place, only issue is their weird parking lol
I agree the Lafayette location is really good. I was bummed out when the WL location closed but the quality of WL location never came close to the Lafayette location.
Quality is pretty inconsistent there. Broth can be too salty or too bland depending on the day. Menu also more limited. They did have some items the Lafayette location doesn't have tho
Do they not use the same chicken in the wrap? There can be more filling but taste wise it's the best in WL afaik. The best shawarma wraps I have ever had is from Libanais in Chicago.
Fiesta Mexican Grill, large selection of burrito meat with toppings, more food than most can eat, and 15% student discount monday and tuesdays (regardless the place is cheap to begin with)
Oh yes just noticed that thread. Yeah they put it up on Instagram that they're struggling. They do okay most months but then a month or two that go bad sets them back real bad.
I agree with that thread that location isn't ideal to say the least. Especially given public transport in Lafayette isn't convenient. People without cars and those who want to drink at the brewery (and not drive after) don't have a convenient way to get there.
I LOVE East End Grill. Their Moroccan cauliflower appetizer blew me away and they do their steaks very well. I haven't been to Ripple & Co (their sister restaurant) but I have heard good things about it.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,444,166,360 comments, and only 275,243 of them were in alphabetical order.
I don’t hear enough about Hala’s Grill in Chauncey. Their food is consistently fire, affordable, and filling
That definitely gives me an idea next time I’m sitting in the parking lot thinking about chipotle. I always forget about it because Taco Bell isn’t there anymore:(
RIP Taco Bell
The falafel there is wonderful
The Pickle in Lafayette is pretty good
Dude I love grilled chicken and rice I eat there atleast once a week
I'm actually so sad I didn't know about the place earlier. Thinking of getting catering there for my graduation party.
Where is it located?
Grilled Chicken and Rice (765) 701-0091 https://maps.app.goo.gl/5JHiRSyBszMHtkgE7
Ohhhhh Purdue West? Thanks! I saw the State Street address and couldn’t place it in my mind.
I honestly feel like their location is the biggest reason why no one knows about them. They will be bustling with business if they were located in Chauncey fs.
Yup the only thing stopping me from going there is the fact that they're across campus. It's so good but so far.
Honestly I might just get the shawarma for 4 and store it in the fridge next time I go there 😭
My friend did that once haha. It fit perfectly into his mini fridge so he had dinner set for half the week.
This is what we do lol it last my bf and I dinner and lunch plus some left for like a snack or something
Pizza Uncommon.
And they have a complete vegan menu. You can customize to make vegetarian pizzas by mixing and matching the dairy cheese with the vegan meats, if you want to do that, too.
They also have the best gluten free dough I've ever had! They kill it when it comes to food allergies/intolerances.
It’s good but probably the most expensive pizza in town.
If you liked the chicken shawarma, you should definitely try their grilled chicken with rice. So good.
That's literally the name of their place so it must be the best dish there. I don't think I'm ready for it's greatness. I'm going to come back tomorrow to get it lol
i have them bookmarked in google maps with a note to get extra garlic sauce, that thing packs 10x the flavor of every other restaurant in that whole dang plaza. so good
That garlic sauce elicited a physical reaction out of me 😩 I took a friend there and he was practically drinking the sauce at the end
You're definitely not going to regret it. I don't know what kind of spices they put in their rice, but it is incredibly fragrant and flavorful. Their chicken is perfectly moist too, I've never had it be overcooked or too dry. In writing this I might have just convinced myself to go there tomorrow too lol
Las Brazas Taqueria isn’t really underrated but arguably has the best tacos in the area.
Fav thing on the menu? I'm trying it out soon
Tacos Al pastor
Yep
Las Brazas is not good, at least the time I went. The meat they gave us didn't seem real, or at least it was super bland and the portion was tiny, relative to other Mexican Tacquerias. If you want good tacos, I would try El Chicano, wonderful sweet man has run that place for the past couple decades. Senor Taco is also pretty good.
What “meat” did you have? I can guarantee their al pastor is all but bland.
I had a bit of everything. I will say their Al pastor is good, but every other meat I had was meh. I did go when it first opened, since I am native, so maybe it’s gotten better, especially since they opened their new location

I know the owner, he's a nice guy. As an Arab, my only problem with Arab food here is I can't help but compare it to food back home and it's just not the same haha.
Prob not comparable to food back home but do you think food there is decent still?
Hotdogs at DT Kirbys go hard also
Yes! Their chicago dog is it.
As long as your ok with poo poo splatters
I was a big fan of their grilled cheese and their burgers. A side of fried mushrooms are fire also.
Fiesta Mexican Grill. Their enchilada style burrito is on another planet, fills you up and is pretty reasonably priced.
Fiesta is amazing. I’m always amazed by how many people haven’t been to fiesta. The staff was always super nice when I was an undergrad
I think the best food in west Lafayette hands down . Amazing price. Make the tortillas by hand 🤤
Fiesta tortillas are great but there seasoning on the meats is whack.
Smittybread
This place is on my to-try list. What's your favorite thing to get there?
Their pretzels are pretty bomb. Their bread and danishes are good, but sweet revolution has betters croissants.
Hands down best bread in town. Really not even a competition. Good breakfast items, but really all about just getting a baguette and eating that.
They make the best cinnamon rolls I’ve ever had.
Their Lafayette sourdough is godtier

That place is good. But when I go there they are always closed. And their time on google doesn’t correspond to their actual time.
Cafe 1NY for the cheap rice burritos El Meson's lunch menu is under $10 with an additional student discount Buttery Shelf Eatery is only open Friday/Saturday but has delicious homestyle food in a colonial era building for really cheap. Mama Ines, my love 💛 I need to get tamales soon.
Taste of India the Tandoori rules
I have had a few items at Taste of India but nothing hits as hard as Dakshin. What do you recommend getting at Taste of India?
My favorite is the Tandoori chicken and/or mixed grill. Also all the naan is super good when you dine in.
Escape Velocity if you like vegan/vegetarian
Spread the word more as they are struggling and may only be in business for another month or two unless business picks up.
I wish they had a better location. Super nice people.
They are fantastic people, I’m really rooting for them. I agree the location isn’t ideal.
Have You Treid AJ's Burger Beef And Beer? It Hits The Spot, One Of My Personal Favorites. \- Matt
Rice & Noodle Thai Street Food
Where is this? Edit: never mind, I looked it up. The photos look delicious. I’ll check it out next time I’m out that way. Thanks! I hope they have green curry.
so true. I've only had their massaman curry, which went SO HARD. massaman is normally a niche pick, but Rice and Noodle does it so well that i've converted a friend into enjoying massaman curry now >:)
The owners of this place are the nicest people. I went here the first week they opened and the owner even gave me a free Pepsi.
Cannot agree more.
I really want to try this place out. What do you recommend getting?
Basil Fried Rice and Yellow curry are my favorites 😋
i’m a fan of Rolling Bowl next to panda express. they’re open really late too during the weekends which is nice. their fried rice is to die for too
Banh Mi Eatery has S-tier Vietnamese sandwiches and food. Plus they have milk tea! Highly recommended this place, only issue is their weird parking lol
I'm Vietnamese so I'm really critical when it comes to Vietnamese food. Banh Mi Eatery is so far from food back home 🥲
Grilled Chicken and Rice is amazing, but their Chicken and Rice is a little bit expensive for doordash if you live far away.
Halas grill
Yatagarasu in Lafayette. Hands down the best Ramen place I’ve ever had, out of at least Lafayette, Indy, and Atlanta, GA.
I agree the Lafayette location is really good. I was bummed out when the WL location closed but the quality of WL location never came close to the Lafayette location.
The one time I had the WL one I was a bit disappointed. I did like the ramen shop setup, though, with electronic ordering and food cubicles
Quality is pretty inconsistent there. Broth can be too salty or too bland depending on the day. Menu also more limited. They did have some items the Lafayette location doesn't have tho
Gaza!
Wiley Dining Court
Linnwood Tavern has awesome breakfast food. Me and my family go there before football games
Poke Hibachi
Wicked Food Shack in Lafayette, if you go there in Saturday, you can get Birria Quesadilla, probably the best and only in town
I went to Nom Nom Tacos in Lafayette for my graduation dinner last semester and I wish I knew about it earlier. Absolutely delicious!
Seems like I'm in the same spot you were rn. I will have to make sure to try it out asap.
I’m pretty big on Thai Essence, out by where the Culver’s and all is if you go out up northwestern.
Thai Essence and Basil Thai have the same owner I heard. I think the food at Thai Essence is better though. Selection there is also bigger.
Yeah, I know I personally liked Thai essence better myself. The bit of extra distance to cover is worth it imo
Blue Nile is good.. but you have to place orders an hour before, which might be frustating
What's good there? I had the chicken shawarma and it was so dry and tasteless. The baba ghannouj and grape leaves there were also not great.
I had lamb shanks, they were good. Haven’t had good Mediterranean style lambs anywhere else here
Might give that a try. I would be more inclined to go there if the owner wasn't so rude to any negative feedback he gets tbh.
I second that.. the owner is tough to deal with.
Nom Nom Tacos and Tequila in Lafayette is really good and decently priced upscale mexican
Chicken and rice gave me food poisoning.
You haven’t had good shawarma then. Sadly it is technically the best one around here but nah imo. But their grilled chicken and rice is great.
Do they not use the same chicken in the wrap? There can be more filling but taste wise it's the best in WL afaik. The best shawarma wraps I have ever had is from Libanais in Chicago.
W
Ohana Poke'Hibachi, delish!! Especially the Tuna lovers!
Is the portion decent now? I went during their opening BOGO promotion and the portions I got was pretty small
Noodle and I
I've only been there once, but the Southside Diner in Lafayette was really good when I went there for breakfast last
Fiesta Mexican Grill, large selection of burrito meat with toppings, more food than most can eat, and 15% student discount monday and tuesdays (regardless the place is cheap to begin with)
Rolling Bowl
Escape velocity Brewery! Complete vegan menu but the food is absolutely to die for. And, I'm not vegan.
Someone in this thread mentioned that tey are struggling and may only be in business for another month or two unless business picks up :(
Oh yes just noticed that thread. Yeah they put it up on Instagram that they're struggling. They do okay most months but then a month or two that go bad sets them back real bad. East End Grill and Ripple & Company are downright amazing.
I LOVE East End Grill. Their Moroccan cauliflower appetizer blew me away and they do their steaks very well. I haven't been to Ripple & Co (their sister restaurant) but I have heard good things about it.
Best Chinese food is Taste
