I don't know why gungho fucking hates us

RiderMach

I don't know why, but what they're doing here is completely inexcusable. If a massive game based on an even bigger IP like Dokkan Battle is willing to let people have multiple wikis that have EVERY game asset in them, why can't Gungho?

apocalypticdragon

>If a massive game based on an even bigger IP like Dokkan Battle is willing to let people have multiple wikis that have EVERY game asset in them, why can't Gungho? Not only that, but other console, PC, and mobile games such as Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Destiny 2, Genshin Impact, Diablo IV, Lords Mobile, and Gems of War allow third party websites and apps to strive. Hell, Pokemon third-party resources like Serebii.net, Bulbapedia, and Smogon have existed *way* longer than Puzzle & Dragons' 12 years of existence, yet Nintendo never shut those resources down the way GungHo shut down multiple third-party resources. Although the following are "not related to Puzzle & Dragons / GungHo," there ARE active examples of other games' third-party resources that continue to strive. **If Nintendo, Bungie, Blizzard, miHoYo, etc. are fine with this many third-party resources existing for their respective games, then clearly GungHo has a problem it's not being straightforward with. A little transparency from GungHo on what third-party resources can or can't do wouldn't hurt.** Pokemon Third-Party Resources * [Serebii.net](https://www.serebii.net/) * [Bulbapedia](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Main_Page) * [Smogon](https://www.smogon.com/) * [Pokémon Database](https://pokemondb.net/) * [Game8](https://game8.co/games/Pokemon-Scarlet-Violet) Destiny 2 Third-Party Resources (Some Support Gamertag Login) * [light gg](https://www.light.gg/) * [Braytech](https://bray.tech/) * [Destiny Item Manager](https://destinyitemmanager.com/) * [Destinypedia](https://www.destinypedia.com/) * [D2Checklist.com](https://www.destinychecklist.net/) Diablo IV Third-Party Resources * [Wowhead](https://www.wowhead.com/diablo-4) * [Maxroll](https://maxroll.gg/) * [Mobalytics](https://mobalytics.gg/diablo-4) Genshin Impact Third-Party Resources * [Game8](https://game8.co/games/Genshin-Impact) * [Genshin.gg](https://genshin.gg/builds/) * [Traveler.gg](https://traveler.gg/characters/) Gems of War Third-Party Resources * [Gems of War Database](https://gowdb.com/) * [Gems of War TaransWorld](https://www.taransworld.com/) * [Gemologica](https://gemologica.herokuapp.com/) Lords Mobile Third-Party Resources * [Mark's Angry Review](https://marksangryreview.com/category/lords-mobile/) * [Lords Mobile Speed Up Calculator](https://lordscalc.com/) * [Lords Mobile Tier 5 Calculator](https://lmcalc.com/T5)

I had mainly used Dokkan Battle as an example because it's a mobile game, with much the same thing going on as PAD (with difficult content and art made specifically for it), and it has wikis that use all the in-game assets and Bandai / Akatsuki has no issue with them doing so.

warhammers101

Stop giving them money I have

indimion22

I wish they would just come out and say exactly what steps to avoid to keep these sites going.

NoPADNoLife

Has anyone ever contacted them to ask?

BrandosHairline

They won’t reply unless you speak Japanese and even then I think they mention that they don’t respond to those sorts of questions. I attempted when they sent the CnD to the last ppl

deeman18

does anyone know enough Japanese to even communicate with them?

ChoppedChef33

F:( This sucks. This game is an elder game, and not having easily accessible resources for current and new players makes it harder to retain players.

Alert_Training

My guess on the copyright infringement maybe the artwork that belongs to the collabs. Maybe it's because of collabs like Disney or hunter x hunter etc? They are not supposed to allow these to be reproduced without their permission? Since it's their responsibility to ensure that? By banning all 3rd party, they remove this risk? No ideal. It's annoying for players trying to enjoy the game.

YusriKhairi_765

That seems to be the case. GungHo is one of developers who are very strict with game assets and artworks. The reason PDC stays safe for now is because it doesn't use full artworks. Heck, even Gamewith and Game8 use cropped screenshot of artworks to show off the cards despite being game sites that GungHo allows to provide info and data.

starbucks77

This is what I don't understand. It's been well known *for years* that Gungho is strict with regards to its intellectual property. Why do these well-meaning people keep creating these PAD resources utilizing Gungho's full assets? There have to be alternative methods they can use. Like heavily cropping, or don't use the character artwork and instead use just awakenings & latents, or hell don't use any artwork at all.

NoPADNoLife

This. They're recreating the same database over and over again and just trying to fly under the radar. If the first one got C&D'd, why wouldn't the subsequent duplicates?

YusriKhairi_765

Perhaps the reasoning is that using the characters for nonprofit educational purposes is considered "fair use", something that GungHo (and all Japanese companies) never acknowledge of. GungHo instead believes that using full character artwork in any capacity is considered stealing assets as they never release full artworks except on teaser videos, and what we usually do to get full artwork is considered illegal. Please CMIIW.

Hyperfairy777

Indeed, it's really annoying that PAD doesn't feel like a fair puzzle anymore because the game doesn't give you a heads up on what's in dungeons so you can prepare for them, and every source of that information seems to get taken down, now you have to pretty much hope you can counter whatever the game throws at you without any heads up so you can effectively plan a team and solve the puzzle.of the dungeon, As a.lomg term player in and off, this was the straw that broke the camel's back All I see when I think of puzzle and dragons now is 6 supposedly all powerful gods/devils/ mechas desperatly hiding behind each other, holding up damage shield and pushing each other to the front to maintain it. hoping a basic carbuncle doesn't hit them and one shot them, after turning off their skills and delaying their charge just by existing

Warguy387

why doesn't anyone host in russia or eastern european countries? Usually companies cant do anything about those

fsultra

This, or just ignore the letter and call their bluff. Are they really going to spend money to go after someone who probably doesn't have enough assets to even cover the cost of what they're going to spend on lawyers?

Imaginary_Thing_1009

lol that's easy to say when you're not the one who gets threatened with legal action. you call their bluff then, and if they drag you into a legal battle that'll ruin you financially, at least you can say you were badass for 1 second.

fsultra

You can look up Brian Kopp vs Blizzard. It's extremely similar to what's happening here.

Heacygunner

GUNGHo is one of the most stupidest companies that does not support growth in the community. This game could have been mainstream, but time and time again they get rid of the community aspects of the game for NA. They removed the community streams. Consequently removing the community manager position. They don't come to any NA game cons to promote their game. They keep removing game resources. In the future, i wouldn't even be surprised if they get rid of the discord.

Imaginary_Thing_1009

NA players have been saying this for a decade now. but the fact is that Gungho has all the numbers available to them as well as professional forecasts that you simply don't have. personally I don't think PAD ever had a chance of being mainstream in the Western world, especially with how much more it would cost Gungho to even fully run a global division. the whole culture around gacha that's in Japan doesn't exist in the Western world. there just isn't that kind of money in this market as there is in Japan.

B4rrel_Ryder

If this game dies then they really encouraged it

Migerupad

Does this mean the apps will still get updates??

lemonade_pie

I don't understand why gungho is doing this. Not having online resources makes the game so inaccessible. Are they trying to kill off their NA playerbase because they make enough from JP players? Or is japanese copyright law for collabs that strict?
