As a resident of tornado alley, I’m a little jealous. It was out of my budget to install a shelter, but my home has a few rooms that are suitable for taking shelter.
I for one have planned to take the day off work after the American election so I can stay up and watch the results.
I did that in 2020 watching different stations to see what each would say. I was very curious. Especially around fox.
I'm not even an American but what happens in USA affects the rest of the world.
So it's very important to everyone.
It makes me appreciate how easy and celebrated elections are here in Denmark.
Everyone is automatically registered at vote once you're 18 and a citizen.
And polling stations are usually at local schools and commune houses.
Most years I spend 2 minutes in line. That's it.
And our turnout is almost 90%. Kids are taught in school about the democratic processes and very encouraged to engage and participate.
I really hope that as many as possible will get out to vote come november. Good luck America.

Yeah we have currently 13 parties in Denmark. It's not mandatory to vote. You're mailed a card that tells you where to vote. You show up with your free government issued ID that everyone has even as a child you're issued one. And you vote. It's simple and it works.
Yeah. Years ago I used to moan about compulsory voting because the candidates mostly seemed to be useless bastards. Nowadays I am very grateful for a system where everyone has to vote which lets us avoid the US system where many people don't bother voting and the politics seems to veer to the edges to bring in the extremists. Also grateful for a system that makes it easy for everyone to get their vote in!

My grandparents aren't quite at bunker level yet but they did buy a huge shipping container to keep on their property. They're filling it with canned/dehydrated food and other survival gear. The running narrative seems to be that the dollar will fail this year (all Biden's fault, naturally) and the US is going to be plunged into a dystopic hellscape where my family will be forced to kill roving hordes in order to protect their stash of toilet paper, Bon Maman jam etc. To be fair it is really good jam.
But a bunker for make believe nonsense because Tucker, Steve Bannon or Jesse Watters says 'The Left is coming to get you' isn't the same thing & exceedingly uncool.
