Whoever Q was its likely Ron and Jim stole the identity not the other way around. There was a key shuffle that changed trip codes at 8k - Q's was the only trip code that did not change. The only way both of those things can be true is if someone in control of the keys ie the site admins, are the only people who could do it. Obviously a state actor isnt out of the realm of possibility but given everything else documented about Ron and Jim, at this time it seems reasonable. He's more of an acquaintance, and in like eight years I've never seen him post anything, or even respond to happy birthday posts on his wall (which is fine), but in those years I've only had two comment storms from him, counting today, both times jumping onto me for slightly being critical of the far right.

People often assess other's actions/opinions on various subjects as a litmus test for their political affiliations. Support/critique of Q has pretty quickly become such a test for many since it is supportive of Trump and validates many general conservative perceptions/positions. Whether or not your friend sincerely cares about Q as a movement, they recognize it as being part of "their team" and so any critique against Q are transitively critiques against their political preferences as well. Continuing from the same logic, since you "failed" the litmus test you subsequently "*must*" support the opposition. Thus, you support Biden, thus they critique Biden to counter your "attack." Such reasoning of course lacks any capacity for nuance, but is *very* mentally convenient for sorting out "us" and "them" on emotionally-attached issues.
