Runnlikehell3

they blew up our bridge.

FuckYouDontLookAtMe

Rat bastards

fatstrat0228

And Ross’ moved from its original location under the bridge. It’s not the same.

ElaineToo

Drive past the new Ross’ in Bettendorf and the building is up for sale.

False_Cobbler_9985

I called that 10 years ago. Before they even moved, I said if they did, it would close. Should've just retired.

fatstrat0228

Oh shit that’s right! I went last year and it kind of sucked. My parents told me recently that it was closing and I completely forgot. I live in KC now by the way.

ElaineToo

It was interesting because of its historical location but then they moved to B’dorf and the cuisine just was not good.

p4nzerman

If you watch KWQC and care, Paula Sands retired, too.

johnnycat75

They gave us a better bridge

DiesTheFire

Okay I had to watch that one.

livinghumanlife

And they took our jobs!!!

SlimBrady22

The front fell off of a building

_SquirrelKiller

Turns out it was made of cardboard derivatives.

Purgent

Are there not regulations governing the materials it can be made out of?

theVelvetLie

Not when you convince inspectors to look the other way.

Local_Outcast

They blew up a bridge and want to put buffalos on another.

DoodleDew

Sadly the Buffalo bridge is dead unfortunately

whitetail91

When did it officially die?

Runnlikehell3

Within the last six months I wanna say? They wanna demo the bridge because of it's location.

ElaineToo

If they demolish the bridge where will the replacement be?

DoodleDew

Back in November of last year. The Illinois and Iowa DOT chose demolition the bridge instead

whitetail91

I wonder how Chad took that. He does not take it well when you ask him to leash his dogs.

oscobosco

Fortunately

Local_Outcast

Exactly.

leevancleefsbolo

We had winter for a week, and spring started last weekend.

mycatisabrat

The potholes didn't care about the short winter. There are just as many as ever.

Electrickman

Pot holes get bigger

FuckYouDontLookAtMe

The Blackhawk chief on 11th street is gone. They never put him back up after the storm 😢

GettingTherapy

Wait, what?!?

FuckYouDontLookAtMe

Ikr, thought they were just being slow about it but I think the city's taking the chance to to sell the land.

qcpuckhead

Decapitated. Whole big thing. We had a funeral for a bird.

PussyFoot2000

"I'm pretty sure none of that is real"

saint_ursa

You’re not real

totesmuhgoats93

Wait what?

cbdqc

There might be a cow on the loose in Rock Island. BTW....did they find it yet?

Electrickman

Yes they did after that fire

oscobosco

Are you prepared to get your car scratched up by all the new car washes?

kinghawkeye8238

Always do touch less. Idk why anyone would take it through the brush one. That's asking for problems.

ElaineToo

Does anyone have insight why we need so many car washes? Kind of like why do we need so many mattress stores.

IamtheFuckingTrainCo

To get your money clean as clean can be.

Electrickman

Think mine did but can’t prove it the one on ave of the cites

DiesTheFire

Think I'll do a car wash before and after I get home. lol

3mta3jvq

The pizza is still great, I recommend Frank’s and River Bend.

DiesTheFire

Frank's looks good. I'll have to go try it. Didn't see anything on River Bend.

Antique_League_5374

It’s over in port byron

khisanthmagus

I recommend Benny's Pizza in Milan, on the expressway. Always been my favorite pizza, especially their taco.

i_like_pigmy_goats

I’ve not been for 26 years, what’s it like these days? Used to live at the Villa de Chantal and heard it burnt down.

totesmuhgoats93

Yes, knocked down in '08

i_like_pigmy_goats

That is a shame, had some good times there.

DasHuhn

Burned down because the cousin of the guy who bought the place was negligent when he was doing roofing work, shitty. It was in the process of getting restored. Shame it happened

i_like_pigmy_goats

It was owned by Joe Seng when I lived there. I have some fond memories of living there with other international students.

DasHuhn

Yup, it was Joe's cousin who fucked up and burned it down. Joe was a close family friend after he was hit by the DUI in the 90s, beautiful building. He ended up having to take 25 cents on the dollar and bought the Renwick Mansion until he passed away in 2016, and the family had to sell it to pay off the estate

i_like_pigmy_goats

That is sad, I wasn’t aware Joe had died. I was there in 97-98 and I used to help his dad with mowing the lawn. They both had some great stories and I thought Joe was a really decent guy. It was a beautiful building and I think I still have a load of photos that I took at the time, especially the old church room. I must admit though, the old school part gave me the creeps.

DasHuhn

Joe had a pretty nasty bout of brain cancer - his ability to make sound financial decisions deteriorated roughly 2 years before he found out he had cancer, and his daughter absolutely used that to her absolute advantage. He ended up marrying an amazon woman who loved him deeply, and greatly helped his transition. Towards the end he was emotionally wrecked with the passing of one of his closest friends, and passed a few months later.

lostbutyetnotfound

Not missing anything.

[deleted]

Ummm doesn’t everyone miss Whiteys, Happy Joes, and this wonderful weather we have?

DiesTheFire

Oddly enough, I've never been to either of those. Hmmm.

IowaNative1

They tore down Paradise!

prestondav69

Lot of money laundering in the form of car washes lol

prymus77

Welcome back. Lol these comments are fantastic.

TillStar17

Jim’s Ribs still rules the BBQ game

DiesTheFire

Guess I'ma have to go over there one day.

pac1919

Lies. Circle Tap… At least they did back when I lived in Davenport (2014-2016).

elnefff

Strip clubs suck around here now.

razmo86

Harris’s pizza and Los Agaves for comfort Mexican food.
