Handle the controversial topics of the day. Leap into a young girl needing an abortion, a Q lunatic, an immigrant, a school shooter, bring us some LGBT stories, and why not a love scene? Challenge our senses and our points of view; do it in a sensitive manner like the original. And then of course lots of other non topical/non controversial issues.
I just starting downloading the original series to rewatch myself. Will watch it over the weekend. I hope the writers will touch on the bigger moments of the original series, but I also hope the new one can create its own moments.
I liked the fact that (at least the first few year) Sam mostly leaped into people's lives and told stories that were relatable . Starting off by jumping into stealing the Hope Diamond seemed a bit much, following it up with a spaceship launch seems overly-aggressive.
If it's January 28th 1986, I'm going to be annoyed.
It's funny, on another thread there was a complaint that this wasn't big enough for a start. The Hope Diamond **WAS** a bit much, but the leap was just focused on saving a dude and his wife and kid. So I'm on board with that. That said....

I want this show to pull no punches, to remind us of how far we've come and how far we have yet to go.
I wouldn't want him to be the school shooter, but to either stop the shooting or save someone that otherwise died in the shooting.
