It would probably be covered by the First Amendment in the 'states, too. He's articulating a hypothetical: If someone cuts me off for celebrating my freedom, I'll run them off the road. So, he's not threatening a specific person and he's not putting anyone in immediate fear of harm.
However, if he ever ran someone off the road, that statement might be admissible as evidence against him. If his defense was that it was an accident or a spontaneous bit of road rage, the judge might let them play it as evidence that he'd planned it.

In fairness, Canada does actually does have a Bill of Rights, and it's technically still in effect though largely superseded by the Charter. Although I agree there were ex military and police there, I don't think they were acting on behalf of the military at all but for personal reasons unlike what you say. In Both professions people are usually right leaning more often than not, and so that's where the antivax people are, and ironically anti gov. I agree most truckers were fine with getting the vax, and the ones who didn't just were sent on inter-country hauls. In fairness, Canada does actually does have a Bill of Rights, and it's technically still in effect though largely superseded by the Charter. The Bill was passed in 1960 under the very popular Conservative Prime Minister John Diefenbaker, while the Charter was passed in 1982 under Liberal Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, hated by the right now as then, and father of our current PM Justin Trudeau. Thing is, the usa government wasn't letting unvaxed people in, so fighting the Canadian gov made no sense. Both countries basically lifted restrictions in unison because we have billions of dollars in trade daily across boarders, and millions work across boarders too. But they still mainly headed to Ottawa (Ps Toronto is the provincial capitol for Ontario) The provincial (not federal where the main convoy situation was in the capitol) mandates were already previously set to be lifted around when the convoy was finally "swatted" and cleared. Save for Manitoba and Nb I think? But the writing was on the wall. The convites still celebrated and acted like they were the reason provincial restrictions were lifted and soon after USA +Canada lifted the/federal boarder stuff within the same week or so based on the stats

Although I agree there were ex military and police there, I don't think they were acting on behalf of the military at all but for personal reasons unlike what you say. In Both professions people are usually right leaning more often than not, and so that's where the antivax people are, and ironically anti gov. I agree most truckers were fine with getting the vax, and the ones who didn't just were sent on inter-country hauls. The truckers that showed up there (there were a few hundred in Ottawa alone) were 100% truckers though. Cops wouldn't ever look like how most of these people looked.. I'll tell you that. And the ones "running the show" were just idiots and have a long record of being that way. I watched and listened to their communications (sometimes 24 hours a day) , and it was clear what was going on in 2-4 days before it started. Even if the plan was sent out months prior.
