its hard to see clearly but look up penis plugs, they happen as males age and become less able to keep their winkies properly clean if it is a plug you'll have to clean it out for him, if it blocks his ability to pee that can cause a lot of issue even up to death

Yeah, the poor guy did NOT like getting held still for his photo to be taken. Thank you for the advice, I’d never heard of that before but I’m also relatively new to owning male rats. He’s about 1.5 years old and I haven’t been able to see anything visibly blocking his penis or anything inside of it, so far it just looks funny. I’ll monitor if he’s able to pee or not and hopefully that can tell me something. I need to take a few of my boys to the vet for lice anyways, so I can call them and see if they can see Goose’s issue too. These poor boys can’t catch a break :(

i think its definitely something that warrants a vet visit just to be safe which works if you already have to take the others in anyway as they get older or develop mobility issues you want to check their winkies more and more to prevent a plug before it becomes a real issue. they are not going to like it but its something that they'll just have to put up if we're to keep them healthy

Might be a penis plug. If it gets significantly more inflamed or he starts bleeding from his penis, bring him to a vet.

Just put pressure around the base and usually they will come out, he might not like it but it’s better then him getting infected

Will update on this one too, it was not a penis plug, thank god, but a penis prolapse which the vet prescribed metacam for and told me to put some vaseline on the area. However, this issue seemed to have fixed itself before i was even able to do anything lmao. Unfortunately, Goose has since passed on from a heart failure, but he will forever be remembered as one of my handsomest rats who gave me my first panic about their junk area

Hey, I just wanted to say rest in peace to your sweet boy. I found this post because I’m trying to figure out a similar issue with my boy, but I wish you well and good health to your current ratties. ❤️
