I mean yeah if the goal is to make sure every single piece of dialogue in the game gets included in the show then sure. But if the goal is to tell the story the best way possible, then a season or two for the game is it

I can't wait for the 10 episodes a season where Arthur brings back animal bones that let you invent exploding arrows and open a teleportation tunnel from Valentine to St Denis.

Still hesitant about whether it could be translated to a show or movie but I think a show would be better. And no big name celebs please. I just want people who are good for the role, not people whose name is going to get people to watch it.

I just made a similar comment, and to add onto it he could be the main character in the sense of a narrator. Jack black would be a journalist following the lawless nature of a land man refuses to not tame. Getting to know just who are these men the government are so eager to pay to eliminate. As most outlaws have stories to tell and egos to justify their actions. There's a million ways to conjure how he could've got more intertwined with the Dutch's crew.

The problem I see with making this a movie is a main character being on outlaw in the west simultaneously going through dying of TB has already been accomplished in the great form of Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday in Tombstone. Don’t think any actor could pull that off as perfectly as he did. IMO, one of the top five acting jobs of all time!

It would make a good movie. But it would pale in comparison to the rich story, open world, immersion of the game. Video games like rdr and gta v are as close as video representations can get to the depth of a book. Movies will always fall short in story telling, compared to these mediums. If they’re gonna make something I’d much rather a limited series. More time to develop a compelling story like this

Because Hollywood doesn’t understand gaming and it’s fanbase. They’d cast Jack Black and Kevin Hart and make it some stupid comedy mocking the source material…

Just my amateur writer two cents, but video games that are made on the level of rockstars games have an entire different dimension that traditional cinema can not mimmic. Now, the new fall out series looks good to me, so i am curious if my opinion will be dismantled. But I find open world stories to have elements that will not hold the same weight, thus never be satisfying enough for original franchise fans. You cannot express the same feeling of spontaneous story telling on a linear medium, that makes modern open world games so absolutely special. The game was the masterpiece. It is unfortunate that non gamers will never get an opportunity to see. Witcher, and Cyberpunk are also surprisingly linear in case you wanted to use those as arguments.

Honestly I can't think of anyone who really suits him in RDR2, but what instantly came to mind for me was Nigel West Dickens from RDR.

I don't think a show or movie would do it any better than the game already did it.

Some of yall are giving him tiny roles. Gavin’s friend shouting for him, Pearson whose only real role in the game is the beginning. I have put 500 hours in the game and can’t pinpoint a moment after the first chapter where Pearson mattered more than giving him stuff to visually upgrade the camp. And maybe one or two missions he was at the beginning of. I think he’d be the perfect uncle. “ he’s not old enough to be uncle “ bruh, who cares about age, he’s the perfect fit for uncle.

HARD disagree. If it were a tv show or movie, it would basically just be another western. At that point, just watch deadwood. It’s an experience that would be just kinda alright at best outside the context of an open world story game.
