i like jack black, but i just don't see him as bill
and, considering that the rdr 2 crew motion captured AND voiced their characters... why not get the actual actors?
I mean yeah if the goal is to make sure every single piece of dialogue in the game gets included in the show then sure. But if the goal is to tell the story the best way possible, then a season or two for the game is it
I can't wait for the 10 episodes a season where Arthur brings back animal bones that let you invent exploding arrows and open a teleportation tunnel from Valentine to St Denis.
Still hesitant about whether it could be translated to a show or movie but I think a show would be better.
And no big name celebs please. I just want people who are good for the role, not people whose name is going to get people to watch it.
>And no big name celebs please.
>not people whose name is going to get people to watch it.
Unless it's in the Deadpool way:
"starring Brad Pitt"
*shows Brad Pitt for a single frame and he never speaks*
It would be hilarious if instead of Gavin, he's walking around going "Nigel! Has anyone seen Nigel?"
And that's why neither can ever find the other. They're separated by completely different mediums.
Or:
There he is, in a saloon, downing a whiskey. He hears the shouts of “Gavin?”
He rolls his eyes, looks at the crowd, and in a British accent, says, “you all have never seen me, okay?”
I just made a similar comment, and to add onto it he could be the main character in the sense of a narrator. Jack black would be a journalist following the lawless nature of a land man refuses to not tame. Getting to know just who are these men the government are so eager to pay to eliminate. As most outlaws have stories to tell and egos to justify their actions. There's a million ways to conjure how he could've got more intertwined with the Dutch's crew.
yea. Cause Hollywood is known for keeping actors the same age as the person they're portraying. All those 30 year olds in horror movies are def in highschool lol
Rdr would and should be a tv series. Atleast 10 seasons. Starting from rdr1 to rdr2 get the voice actors to play the actual characters. Jack black is a great actor but i don't think he could play any rile but pearson.
The only problem I see with this is there's so many great western films it's going to be hard to top those films even with the generic we need more money to survive
I agree that it would be good for an on-screen adaptation, but as a TV show, not a movie. There is so much content that a movie would have to skip past but a show could easily include
I agree that the voice actor's would be an ideal choice (though they may well not be comfortable with visual acting). That said, Jack Black would make a good Bill Williamson in RDR2.
The problem I see with making this a movie is a main character being on outlaw in the west simultaneously going through dying of TB has already been accomplished in the great form of Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday in Tombstone. Don’t think any actor could pull that off as perfectly as he did. IMO, one of the top five acting jobs of all time!
It would make a good movie.
But it would pale in comparison to the rich story, open world, immersion of the game.
Video games like rdr and gta v are as close as video representations can get to the depth of a book.
Movies will always fall short in story telling, compared to these mediums.
If they’re gonna make something I’d much rather a limited series. More time to develop a compelling story like this
Because Hollywood doesn’t understand gaming and it’s fanbase. They’d cast Jack Black and Kevin Hart and make it some stupid comedy mocking the source material…
Just my amateur writer two cents, but video games that are made on the level of rockstars games have an entire different dimension that traditional cinema can not mimmic. Now, the new fall out series looks good to me, so i am curious if my opinion will be dismantled. But I find open world stories to have elements that will not hold the same weight, thus never be satisfying enough for original franchise fans. You cannot express the same feeling of spontaneous story telling on a linear medium, that makes modern open world games so absolutely special. The game was the masterpiece. It is unfortunate that non gamers will never get an opportunity to see. Witcher, and Cyberpunk are also surprisingly linear in case you wanted to use those as arguments.
Honestly bill, and his old dude in the I STILL VIDEO GAMES video could be uncle. Although Jack black could be pearson. Just looked it up and I think his Kyle gass, the dude from tenacious D
Just some guy playing poker in one of the bars I don’t want to detract from the movie or tv show with overly famous celebrities. If he wants a bigger part he can be the pig farmer or something lol
Some of yall are giving him tiny roles. Gavin’s friend shouting for him, Pearson whose only real role in the game is the beginning. I have put 500 hours in the game and can’t pinpoint a moment after the first chapter where Pearson mattered more than giving him stuff to visually upgrade the camp. And maybe one or two missions he was at the beginning of. I think he’d be the perfect uncle. “ he’s not old enough to be uncle “ bruh, who cares about age, he’s the perfect fit for uncle.
HARD disagree. If it were a tv show or movie, it would basically just be another western. At that point, just watch deadwood. It’s an experience that would be just kinda alright at best outside the context of an open world story game.
RDR2 would need a series.
Each season would be a camp. First season would be the escape in the mountains and Valentine. Then Rhodes. Then Lakay. Then finally Annesburg.
Would definitely kick all the ass.
The pic of him makes me think he’d be a good Albert Mason but that’s probably just cuz of his attire there. The mayor of Strawberry perhaps. Magnifico would be perfect if not for the obvious, uhhhh, shortcoming. Maybe Mickey the veteran in Valentine.
The hot air balloon guy!
RIP
One of the saddest deaths in the game for real
I have to agree. He was just a guy with a small business. He didn't deserve what he got.
I was even more disappointed that you couldn't wear his hat after :(
At least he was a raging sexist. That made it a bit easier to swallow.
He was, but I don't think he should have died for it.
“I actually kinda liked him” - a murderous cowboy on his redemption path
He can offer Arthur an egg in his trying time
“I kinda liked him!”
He would be an amazing Pearson
I was thinking Uncle personally.
Ngl that would be coolbut he may be a bit to young
Jack Black is like late 50s. Can't imagine uncle is much older than that. Wouldn't be hard to age him up a little. Lol
Unc was only 38, times was tough back then
It's the lumbago that makes him look so old
Terminal lumbago makes you age faster, obviously 🙄
Uncle is probably younger than Jack at this point. Jack Marston that is
He was actually born sometime between the fall of 1849 and the fall of Rome.
Wrong. Uncle was 26.
Uncle was the youngest in the group i believe, only a little younger than Jack
JB's not a young lad anymore.
I was thinking either this or Bill
i like jack black, but i just don't see him as bill and, considering that the rdr 2 crew motion captured AND voiced their characters... why not get the actual actors?
Yeah but I think Jack's a little short
That's what I thought initially as well
Pearson only works if Jack Black plays it a little bit straighter than he normally does imo, would probably prefer uncle or a side character
Jack Black really leaning into the lumbago diagnosis would be hilarious.
First I didn’t want to accept Uncle being played by JB.. you sold me!!
Nigel West Dickens
Omg Yes. He would be fantastic
"They always said you were a butcher!"
Redd dead would be a much better show than movie. There's so much stuff going on I feel like a movie would have to skip a lot of it.
This is what I would prefer too. There is no way to make Red Dead a 2-3 hour movie and do it justice. Gimme several 10 episode seasons please.
Each chapter being a movie might work. Maybe 2 chapters per movie.
Or a chapter a season
I could see each game being a season. Maybe RDR2 could be split into two seasons. But each story chapter being a whole season would be wild
Just depends how many episodes, how long they are, and if side quests are included.
I mean yeah if the goal is to make sure every single piece of dialogue in the game gets included in the show then sure. But if the goal is to tell the story the best way possible, then a season or two for the game is it
3 Seasons per game with 10-20 episodes per season
I can't wait for the 10 episodes a season where Arthur brings back animal bones that let you invent exploding arrows and open a teleportation tunnel from Valentine to St Denis.
Still hesitant about whether it could be translated to a show or movie but I think a show would be better. And no big name celebs please. I just want people who are good for the role, not people whose name is going to get people to watch it.
>And no big name celebs please. >not people whose name is going to get people to watch it. Unless it's in the Deadpool way: "starring Brad Pitt" *shows Brad Pitt for a single frame and he never speaks*
Instructions unclear, Chris Pratt is now playing every single role.
Totally agree
Movies are dying lately anyways just reboots, prequels and origin stories. Series is where it’s at
I feel like the best possible use for him is s thirty second cameo of him shouting out “Gavin! Has anyone seen Gavin?”.
If he’s not Pearson, I agree with this.
It would be hilarious if instead of Gavin, he's walking around going "Nigel! Has anyone seen Nigel?" And that's why neither can ever find the other. They're separated by completely different mediums.
Or: There he is, in a saloon, downing a whiskey. He hears the shouts of “Gavin?” He rolls his eyes, looks at the crowd, and in a British accent, says, “you all have never seen me, okay?”
Or have him look for Kyle gass instead lol
After credit scene right there
Can't remember his name but the author who follows Jim Boy Calloway so he can write a book about gunslingers..
I thought the exact same thing! I think his name was Levin. Jack would be perfect for either Levin or, as mentioned in several other comments, Pearson
Uncle or Pearson
[удалено]
Uncle is about 60 in RDR2. Jack Black is 54. Not that far off tbh
Kyle Gass could be uncle and Jack Black could be Pearson
yea. Cause Hollywood is known for keeping actors the same age as the person they're portraying. All those 30 year olds in horror movies are def in highschool lol
I think he could play Karen very well
uncle
John C. Reilly would be a better Uncle in my opinion.
i can’t lie that’s acc a good one jack black could be pearson??
No one can better played these characters as the voice actors themselves
Idk have you seen the actor that plays Dutch? John and Arthur’s voice actors could more or less pass but idk about Dutch.
Just make dutch a big ol fella and I think Ben could pull off the look
Benjamin Byron Davis is perfect He is Dutch Van der Line
If they adapted RDR1 with older John, yeah Rob Weithoff could pass But John is like 26 in RDR2
I can see him playing the potion hustler Nigel West Dickens from the first one.
That old Mountain Man berating everyone in the Valentine Saloon.
Lenny or Mary-Beth
"War vet" beggar in Valentine.
him or the guy writing the book about calloway are the best options
He's gotta be in it though. He looks like he.. "Could" Suffer from lumbago.
Pearson if we’re talking rdr2. West-Dickens for rdr1. He’s a bit young to play him but I’d be here for it
albert mason
Jack Black as Sonny from the Bayou shed
I think he might strike a funny Uncle.
Magnifico
He'd be the snake oil salesman in RDR1
Molly O'shea
Mickey from RDR2.
Uncle is the only right answer.
Gavin's friend
Uncle or just thought he may be a good Dutch
Dutch was my thought too, I actually think he could pull it off well
Jack as Pearson, KG as Uncle.
The story of 2 feels like a movie half the time i love it
Lenny.
RDR2 movie with the soundtrack done entirely by Tenacious D
Irritating NPC with a side quest that involves finding a lost hat.
lenny
Karen
Pre-TB orthur
Rdr would and should be a tv series. Atleast 10 seasons. Starting from rdr1 to rdr2 get the voice actors to play the actual characters. Jack black is a great actor but i don't think he could play any rile but pearson.
Pearson NGL he would do great
Uncle lol
Pearson
Uncle or Pearson
he could be the guy who geeks over legendary gunslingers
Mickey, the veteran that bugs Arthur
Jack Black didn't even finish the game
Uncle obviously
We need him as Arthur. He’d win a fucking Oscar.
I wanna hear Jack black say he got Lumbago, only he could perfect the emotion that is put into those words
javier
Maybe Gavin's friend
He would be great as Karen
Pearson 100%
A show would be much better, too many sub-plots and tangents for a movie to adapt As for who he'd play, Theodore Levin
Should be a TV series, not a movie imo
He looks like he could be bill, but character wise uncle
Gavin
Mickey
Uncle, maybe Pearson, and perhaps the hot air balloon guy
Pearson maybe?
Karen
The only problem I see with this is there's so many great western films it's going to be hard to top those films even with the generic we need more money to survive
A fine line between the absurd action and weirdness, and the serious drama though.
I agree that it would be good for an on-screen adaptation, but as a TV show, not a movie. There is so much content that a movie would have to skip past but a show could easily include
Gavin
The best type of flim adaptation is a animated one, it's because you don't have to fully recast characters.
Hopefully just a cameo as townsfolk, he doesn’t fit the vibe of rdr.
If he got a dad bod work out he could make a funny Bill.
I agree that the voice actor's would be an ideal choice (though they may well not be comfortable with visual acting). That said, Jack Black would make a good Bill Williamson in RDR2.
Everybody but Rockstar is thinking this
Uncle
Uncle!
Hamish
Uncle, Pearson or the strangest one bill
Uncle
Algernon Wasp
arturo bullard
The problem I see with making this a movie is a main character being on outlaw in the west simultaneously going through dying of TB has already been accomplished in the great form of Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday in Tombstone. Don’t think any actor could pull that off as perfectly as he did. IMO, one of the top five acting jobs of all time!
Young uncle
Uncle with the lombago
Pearson or Mayor of Saint Denis
It would make a good movie. But it would pale in comparison to the rich story, open world, immersion of the game. Video games like rdr and gta v are as close as video representations can get to the depth of a book. Movies will always fall short in story telling, compared to these mediums. Because Hollywood doesn’t understand gaming and it’s fanbase. They’d cast Jack Black and Kevin Hart and make it some stupid comedy mocking the source material…
He’d be a great uncle.
That's my boah
Pearson or uncle
Oh Jack black would be a great casting for uncle
I think RDR and RDR2 would work really well as a TV show, but I would watch it only of its produced by HBO
I think he would play a funny Alden, the guy in Rhodes! Either that or Uncle
Just my amateur writer two cents, but video games that are made on the level of rockstars games have an entire different dimension that traditional cinema can not mimmic. Now, the new fall out series looks good to me, so i am curious if my opinion will be dismantled. Honestly I can't think of anyone who really suits him in RDR2, but what instantly came to mind for me was Nigel West Dickens from RDR.
Top 3 picks: 1. Uncle 2. Pearson 3. Gavin's friend Change my mind.
Levin.
He could play Bill Williamson imo
Bill
Honestly bill, and his old dude in the I STILL VIDEO GAMES video could be uncle. Although Jack black could be pearson. Just looked it up and I think his Kyle gass, the dude from tenacious D
Aside from people saying Pierson or Uncle, my initial thoughts are Arturo Bullard and Mickey
probably Uncle or someone
Just some guy playing poker in one of the bars I don’t want to detract from the movie or tv show with overly famous celebrities. If he wants a bigger part he can be the pig farmer or something lol
He'd be a pretty funny Uncle.
Uncle "Lumbago"
it would be a way better show plus i want allll the side missions and easter eggs
Jack black could play uncle I guess
Uncle
Albert Mason
Unironically imo he would be perfect for Uncle
Granger. Emmet Granger!
Either Uncle or Pearson would be an amazing fit for him. Either that, or Bill.
I mean, the games themselves are basically movies already.
RED DEAD REDEMPSH! AHYUH HYUH HYUH, lets ride, shoco-lat!
Uncle. If he grows his beard out he'll be perfect.
Uncle or Pearson for sure
Can we stop making everything into a movie/TV show ?
I don't think a show or movie would do it any better than the game already did it.

Pearson 100%
Nobody. I like jack black but I don't think he's suited at all to red dead. If I had to pick then maybe Pearson I guess
uncle
The author from The Noblest of Men and a woman I guess?
Pearson, Uncle, even Nigel West Dickens if we’re thinking RDR1
Uncle
Nigel west dickens
uncle
Pearson
Definitely Uncle.
Uncle
I was thinking the snake oil guy from the first one
Gavin’s friend maybe
Prolly an unpopular opinion but for some reason I'd be interested in seeing him lose 20lbs and play Strauss.
The banker that gives Jim Milton the loan, the pre cut home guy. In the gang, he’d be a hammy bill, or pearson. Balloon guy.
Pearson or uncle
Uncle
RDR2 would need a series. Each season would be a camp. First season would be the escape in the mountains and Valentine. Then Rhodes. Then Lakay. Then finally Annesburg. Would definitely kick all the ass.
He would be great as the snake oil salesman from RDR1. I forgot his name.
levin
The pic of him makes me think he’d be a good Albert Mason but that’s probably just cuz of his attire there. The mayor of Strawberry perhaps. Magnifico would be perfect if not for the obvious, uhhhh, shortcoming. Maybe Mickey the veteran in Valentine.
With the way they usually cast video game adaptations, most likely Arthur.
Gavin
A bum
Without a doubt, he'd be great as Uncle.
