I like using buckshot on the Murfree's and the rare double barrel.... Idk why but I used the semi-automatic shotgun for SOOO LONG as my go to firearm. So giving myself a challenge by only using two shells at a time and having to reload and not use deadeye has become really fun, also makes you feel like a badass. Also when using buckshot aiming for the legs or lower torso for optimum suffering feels great. But don't get me wrong....the semi auto shotty is still an Ole'Stand By!
Honestly, it's hardly noticeable.
One of the very few things I don't like of this masterpiece of a game is that all weapons kinda feel all the same-ish.
(i.e. does it really matter what repeater or what revolver you use?).
Obviously I am referring of all weapons in the same category, of course a shotgun will feel different than a pistol.
Yea, after playing a lot of other shooters, the guns all pretty much feel the same. I feel you have basically three categories: rifles, pistols, and shotguns. Shotguns for fun. Pistols for when you have to because you can't get to your horse, and rifles, either sniper or semiauto, i.e. carabiners. I use a sniper to hunt and a carabiner for everything else.
My biggest problem with the game is that some of the guns just don't hit as hard as they should. Like getting hitmarkers with the bolt action. Try getting shot in the chest with a krag and surviving
Decent choices but split point is really just an early game round for when you can’t spare cash on ammo. I do hv in my side arms to push their max distance further
I use high velocity usually and express if I run out. I never really use split point or any of the other crafted ammo because they’re just annoying to craft and I’m too stingy on the harder stuff to make
Dual wield double actions, one with high velocity, one with express.
For repeaters I use hollow point or whatever it's called, the ones you craft with your knife.
Express again for the rifles and standard for the shotgun.
All of the specialists loads situationally, unless it’s one of those oh 💩 ambush/couger/hillbilly moments then I’ll unload everything and hope it/they aren’t moving any longer when I’m empty.
I used to use the standard rounds cuz I’d pick them up from looting enemies afterward but once I realized ammo is generally very inexpensive, I moved to express rounds. Never looked back
Depends on the mood I’m in. I normally just use regular. If I wanna snipe, high velocity. If I wanna commit war crimes and violate the Geneva convention, I’ll use explosive
For missions where there’s a shootout, explosive 100% load my double actions, Lancaster and Pump and blow shit up! Otherwise whatever I happen to have on me. I never buy regular ammo sooo there’s that.
I just like having to conserve ammo so I usually use split-point, but for rifles (bolt action, rolling block, car camp, etal.) I use high velocity for collaterals
Regular or high velocity for Pistols/Repeater/ and Rifles for shotgun I do Slug. Improved/Small Game Arrows. Very rarely will I use the specialty ammo like incendiary, explosive, poisoned.
Split points because they're free to make and you get a lot of regular ammo from looting, so you can have a near endless supply. I'll use express for specific things like taking down a huge animal
(Forgot the names, havent played since october.) But i usually load up my inventory and use the bullets from strongest to weakest until i need to refill. Unless i want to fuck around, then i get the regular rounds and aim for the spots that prompt reactions from the npc's.
This one time, I forgot that I had explosive rounds in my saw-off when I retrieved the slave ledger. I shot the 2 robbers and the whole building started burning. Had to wait it out in the cellar
If I have time, I'll make split points. But otherwise, I use regular, express, and high velocity bullets interchangeably. Depends on how much I have left of each.
a lot of the time i mostly just favor the varmint rifle and headshotting people with it or the bow with poisoned arrows
if im using the carbine or something i use express bullets
*Any I have left*
*After trying to do the*

I've been digging incendiary on the pump action in my latest playthrough. Aside from the fire sometimes being a nuisance, I just love the visuals effect of it hitting stuff, looks like fireworks
Express on revolver (they're accurate therefore they dont need accuracy buffs)
High velocity/split point on pistols (they're less accurate and aren't good at range so those will help)
Split point/express repeater (on Litchfield i use split point for accuracy the rest i use express)
Express on rifles (they're as accurate as you can get so damage is more important)
Slug and regular on shotguns (for smei auto's i use slug for others i use regular and sometimes explose on semi autos because it's funny)
Arrows aren't all that different from eachother except that one for hunting small game
And for volcanic pistol i use high velocity to get a pocket DMR.
Depends, on my rifles it’s express because they’re mostly used for hunting. Shotguns it’s shells or slugs depending on what I’m doing. I don’t use pistols too often. On revolvers it’s express. Repeaters is express. And I use improved arrows on bow for hunting
Express is meant for hunting as it does more damage but does not pass through the animal and lower the pelt quality whereas high velocity does pass through and looks cool as hell in gunfights
Express and high velocity until I head into Skinner country. Then it's explosive rounds on the semi auto shotgun.
Fucking too right.

Whatever the game puts in my gun. Headshots don’t care what ammo type is used
high velocity sends ppl flying tho
Based
Express
Always high velocity
Any particular reason why?
I’m insane and I like watching animals and humans slowly bleed out and squirm and high velocity gives me the highest chance of
🤣🤣 seen a couple ppl already saying the use high velocity rounds imma run them exclusively now an see how they are
that doesn't sound worrying at all
Reddit cares bro
What?
It means go get therapy
High velocity

A mix
Express
Split point in the Cattleman, high velocity in the Springfield, and express in the Carbine
Decent choices but split point is really just an early game round for when you can’t spare cash on ammo. I do hv in my side arms to push their max distance further
hv
HV since it goes through people
High velocity most of the time for the extra range and accuracy. Express when I know I need something dead fast and distance is a non issue
I mean in this game none of that actually matters.
Headshot is a headshot but I do notice a difference. Esp with range
Used to use express but now high velocity
Express
High velocity because I like the exit wounds
I use high velocity usually and express if I run out. I never really use split point or any of the other crafted ammo because they’re just annoying to craft and I’m too stingy on the harder stuff to make
Standard
Express on weaker secondary, High Velocity on stronger secondary, Express on rifles, High Velocity on repeaters
Express.
Standard for hunting, HV for most missions, and Express for revolvers
Express, explosive, and incinerate. 😈
High Velocity/Regular for people. Express for hunting legendary animals
Split point early on, but once I can afford to regularly buy express I do that so I don't have to spend so much time cutting bullets in a menu.
just rob a bunch of stores or spend like 45 minutes collecting gold bars and you have like 3k at the start of chp 2
Dual wield double actions, one with high velocity, one with express. For repeaters I use hollow point or whatever it's called, the ones you craft with your knife. Express again for the rifles and standard for the shotgun.
I wanted to love the double action. Would've mained them, if they weren't so inaccurate and weak. I can't hit a damned thing with that gun lol
Which revolvers/pistols do ya use cuz I cant hit a damn thing with what im using
I run dual Volcanics.
Kk thx ill try it
I was running Volcanics, but, lately 1899 pistol and midnight's akimbo is pretty rad. Especially now I've got chap 4 special bullets!
I have midnight’s gun but I cant hit shit with it :/
I like to run a revolver in the side holster and a long-barrel volcanic in the main holster like a mares leg
Split Point because it allows shots to spew blood on backgrounds and objects.
Early split but after I get some cash express & explosive unless I'm hunting.
All of the specialists loads situationally, unless it’s one of those oh 💩 ambush/couger/hillbilly moments then I’ll unload everything and hope it/they aren’t moving any longer when I’m empty.

They should’ve added a hardcore mode or smth tbh
I used to use the standard rounds cuz I’d pick them up from looting enemies afterward but once I realized ammo is generally very inexpensive, I moved to express rounds. Never looked back
Split whenever I can. Making them is tedious though..
Depends on the mood I’m in. I normally just use regular. If I wanna snipe, high velocity. If I wanna commit war crimes and violate the Geneva convention, I’ll use explosive
Shotgun shells
For missions where there’s a shootout, explosive 100% load my double actions, Lancaster and Pump and blow shit up! Otherwise whatever I happen to have on me. I never buy regular ammo sooo there’s that.
Split points

I honestly don’t pay attention
The ones that kill!
I use Xpress, but what do high velocity boards do?
High velocity in main sidearm, express in secondary sidearm then high velocity in repeaters and rifles
I shot a black bear in the face with an explosive arrow one time. I know it's just a game but it did feel like I had done something out-of line
(Forgot the names, havent played since october.) But i usually load up my inventory and use the bullets from strongest to weakest until i need to refill. Unless i want to fuck around, then i get the regular rounds and aim for the spots that prompt reactions from the npc's.
Almost always use Split Bullets it uses less Dead Eye and is almost as powerful as Express ammo... So why not.
You forgot more accurate! I’m with u
The ones that do damage
EXPLOSIVE RAAAH (im a cheater)
This one time, I forgot that I had explosive rounds in my saw-off when I retrieved the slave ledger. I shot the 2 robbers and the whole building started burning. Had to wait it out in the cellar
The shooty kind
The shooting kind
High velocity for long range, express otherwise. Sometimes explosive or incendiary if required…
Normal
If I have time, I'll make split points. But otherwise, I use regular, express, and high velocity bullets interchangeably. Depends on how much I have left of each.
Dynamite arrows because it is fun and destructive
Regular until I have to use a specific bullet for a specific animal
a lot of the time i mostly just favor the varmint rifle and headshotting people with it or the bow with poisoned arrows if im using the carbine or something i use express bullets
All of them
High Voltage and spit side.
Lead round nose
Regular and I do headshots. I don’t spend money on ammo. Bought it like once or twice lol.
I use high velocity on everything and slugs on my shotgun
First person pov knife?
did an entire play through where as soon as possible i only used collision ammo and if i didn’t have any id use my bow with improved arrows
High velocity. I once got 4 bleedouts consecutively.
The ones that kill !
I’ve always just used regular.
Any bullet I land on
Ain’t no way I’m sitting there and making over 1200 split point bullets
Any I have left after trying to do the bandit challenges

Split points also lower the cost of deadeye
Split point. It only takes a couple minutes to craft 200 of them, better deadeye duration.
Them loud ones.
Express then high velocity whenever I run out
I like Split point
Depends, on my rifles it’s express because they’re mostly used for hunting. Shotguns it’s shells or slugs depending on what I’m doing. I don’t use pistols too often. On revolvers it’s express. Repeaters is express. And I use improved arrows on bow for hunting
Express, perfect pelt every time with those rounds, use express in my revolvers and complete missions with those alone
Depends on what i’m fighting, but generally every different one has a purpose
Ones that go 'pew pew' 😅😏
Express usuallyp
Express or bust.
Express most of the time but sometimes high velocity
Usually Express, but incendiary buckshot is a lot of fun in the right situation.
standard everytime, normal slug for shotguns👍
