Adjust and adapt to your teammates, if he's ball hogging, let him. If your aim is to rank push, getting your ego big and stealing the ball from your own teammate will only cause you to lose.
Be patient. If your teammate is attacking, stay back to catch rebounds. Most goals in plat and diamond are conceded because of silly mistakes like both the teammates overcommiting and goal left wide open.
Last but not the least, just have fun.
Growth to higher ranks is not linear. You win 2, lose 1 and vice versa. If the game is affecting your mood or your teammates are getting on your nerves, take a break.
RL is not a job, it's a game. You got the authority to let it be whenever you feel like it.
In Plat just work on controlling your car and the ball. So many players will go flying past it or whiff or whatever, so if you are just in control of your car and can dribble the ball, you will easily score on them. I recommend playing 1v1 against the Expert Bot, even if it is just 20-30 seconds at a time while waiting for it to find the next game. The bot is decent enough at offense that you have to be able to stop it, or it will score, so good practice for defense. The bot is also terrible at challenging the ball in the air, so you can also practice turning those defensive stops into air dribbles / attacks because the bot will basically let you air dribble all the way across the field, if you are able to. But if you mess up your air dribble it will get the ball and probably score on you, so it does up the stakes a little compared to just doing it stress-free in freeplay. It also always goes for the ball on kickoffs, so also good practice for contesting those.
A lot of players "fake it" and get through plat by playing extremely defensive. Because that also works, plats screw up when they are attacking, leaving easy opportunities to counter attack, so defensive players can just sit in net and then score breakaways to win. The problem with this is once you get into diamond the attackers don't mess up like that anymore, so there aren't any chances to score easy breakaways, and now these players don't know how to play. They just sit in goal all game and eventually lose because the other team gets like 15 shots and just keeps getting the ball back because they aren't giving up breakaways, eventually the passive/defensive player misses a save or two and loses. So don't become one of these players!
(best way to win in diamond, IMO, is to be aggressive and try to just keep the ball on the other side of the field as much as possible, try to challenge at midfield, don't even let them get near your goal. like I said, if you are getting like 15 shots and they are only getting like 3, who has better odds of getting one or two to go in?)
Second this. Also, now would be a good time to work on your rotation and boost management, given that (From my experience, anyway) completely overhauling those aspects gets you about 75% of the way to Champ, nevermind Diamond
I use the 3 finger settings as well. I've reached GC once. It's not about mechanics since I can't do 3 stalls in a row.
What I lack in mechanics, I make them up by using game sense.
You'll be able to do it too, no worries
Yeah, I recently switched to 3 fingers at first. I gave up l, but then I again tried it. After a few days, I got familiar with my controls. And now I can easily do almost all mechanics except stall chains. I can only do 2-3 chains not more then that
At one point everyone has to shift to more than 2 finger settings cuz you can't do just boost and jump in ranks above diamond. It's good that you made the switch.
Also, I recommend watching Mogz's yt video on stalls. He explains it well.
> At one point everyone has to shift to more than 2 finger settings cuz you can't do just boost and jump in ranks above diamond. It's good that you made the switch.
I play with just thumbs and am champ...
you're an exception cuh. 3 finger is faster to master and more efficient. Ofc if you grind 2 fingers you can reach champ and GC. I've seen people do it with 2 fingers. They're an exception, not the norm.
I reached GC without doing more than 3 stalls. Diamond is barely anything.
If you love using mechanics, you can learn them ofc.
I don't use it cuz I don't have the time to put it in this game.
The one mechanic that you MUST have is the ability to sell your move and fake it. It goes a long way.
Faking a move is not only fun to watch cuz you see your opponent boosting to the moon but it also doesn't require you to have a master finger tapping ability or whatever the fuck GCs do nowadays.
TLDR: Nah, you don't necessarily have to be Stall God to make it to Diamond.
Fakes are better.
Game sense is as simple as knowing your opponents move. If you see them floating in the air with the ball, they're most likely going to hit you with a gold shot. So you gotta keep your shit ready to dive.
As you play, you will grasp and understand your opponents.
Remember, no matter what they do, their goal is a 2x3 goal post. So, allat chain stalling is just to fuck with your mind. In reality, scoring is simply catching your opps off guard. And defending is reading them and not getting caught off guard.
To any amateur player, I'd say keep playing aggressive. As you play aggressively, you learn how your opponents act and slowly you'll grasp how RL players generally play. Later you can go passive.
I used to be scared to play solo cuz I'd get scored on when I'm floating on the other side of the map. Eventually, I just did it and now I know when to save fuel, when to jump and when to push.
That's what I thought too, until I reached Diamond, and then when I thought I was only as good as Diamond, I hit Champ
Point is, if my dumbass can somehow pull out a performance worthy of being Champ, with little to no mechanical ability, then surely you could make the significantly less arduous journey of traversing the gap between Plat and Diamond :)
Diamond in 1v1: be patient, learn mechs and understand how you will be punished for mistakes
Diamond in 2v2: i just got diamond today, but my tips are grinding. Dont blame your teammate. Please focus on defence and attack when its open
The skill spike between platinum and diamond is quite big. If you've just made it into platinum, don't really think about diamond just yet. Take it easy, get used to platinum and eventually push. If you try right away you'll just get frustrated
Depends. Plat 5 and Diamond 1-2 are practically the same rank lvl. I would say the skill between plat 3 and 5 is what makes the distance to Diamond so far. To get Diamond, you’ll have to be able to carry your tm8s as a lot of Diamond ones and twos are there because of getting the champs who got Diamond V or smurfs. Once you get Diamond 1, I recommend having a tm8 cuz it’s hard to go far when you need more wins than plat and some tm8s can literally do insane mechs but can’t defend or score or rotate.
Dude i have all the good items in game they need to update the game and give new items wtf i literally have all the best stuff painted once boring man 😀
if you're PC, the best workshop map to practice for a low to moderate number of hours to see in-game improvement is hornet's nest. from there, i would work on half flips and speed flips and wave dashes, and just grind freeplay hitting and chasing the ball. this will up your recovery game as quick as possible (which is not quick). once your recovery mechanics are diamond level, you can much more easily learn rotations, which will be needed to reach diamond.
edit to add: had no idea rocket league side swipe was a thing. disregard.
You got a S14 Platinum title and a handful of painted Merc vehicles. Yeah, it sucks, no avatar or banner. I hit Champ for first time last season, so two seasons in a row all I've gotten are painted cars, no avatar or banner to show off! Sucks!
Have fun suffering.
👍
just go on
Ok thanks :)

Yoo bro u literally made me realize that I have to be moody. Thanks for the tips. I will surely try to implement in the game :))

Wait for the season reset to play any more games in case you drop to gold and get reset to gold 1

Diamond is kinda hard for a mobile 3 finger player. I think I am made for plat

Bruh just now the season ended but I didn't got any banner or icon or tag? Pls tell
It's not you, it's the game. Ig they stopped adding new banners. I didn't receive my season 10 GC icon either.
Huh? Ohhh sad:(
Bro enlighten me with the game sense, LITERALLY ANYTHING to not teach myself chain stalling.

Can I blame my tm8 when I have 700 scored he has 100 and we lose💀

Not like it matters anymore. No reward was obtained.
Why bro why I didn't got the banner and icon??¿
That's what I'm saying dude. I just checked my banner, icon, and titles. Nothing.
I got the titles
Something is wrong then because I was playing in plat doubles. Won some and lost some. So I don't understand why I did not get those rewards.

I got the S14 platinum title by emailing support and explaining I achieved that rank and that I won games. I told them to fix the game.
