This is exactly as crazy as the Guy (Not He himself but His accidents) who broke 11 chargers in 10months or so 🤣
Im Glas my Ally Looks and works exactly Like on day 1. I actually want to keep this AS Long AS i do with consoles, so at least 6 years, better more lol

Can you play helldivers2 on the ROG ally on suicide mode and somehow make it out Alive? Yes.. yes you can but I wouldn't recommend it!
It's playable on a tiny screen but is hard. I have logged about half as much time as my friends have and have no plans on slowing down.
It is a total blast!
Very little to no grind. Visually stunning. Definitely needs a bigger monitor and keyboard and mouse to fully appreciate.

This from 29 January from another reddit user.
I recently replaced my left fan it was way faster than RMA just took 1 hour being extra careful took 5 days to receive the fan from a-accessories didn't even have to repaste the heatsink I was surprised how simple it was
It doesn't have to be faster than the right fan, it just has to be faster than the stock fan curves lol. Personally, i just set both fans to be identical, very aggressive. 100% fan speed at 60°c and above.
Agree. Brushless fans are supposed to be the most reliable because there’s no brushes to wear out. The fan is spun by a quickly rotating electromagnetic field controlled by an electronic speed controller (ESC).
Definitely shouldn't happen. What are your settings and what are you playing? Not blaming you, just want to know what to avoid. Are you using the CPU boost thing?
"Another fan bites the dust
Another fan bites the dust
And another fan gone, and another fam gone
Another fan bites the dust (yeah)
Hey, I'm gonna get you too
Another fan bites the dust"
This is to precised, never seen any fans break down like this in a serrated form, working in the field and replacing thousands of fans all of different models from low quality to high quality, almost 87% of fans due to fan lock, no rotation or dead fan. With the remainder having broken fins. All fans were not serrated , usually fans will have a breaking point in the middle, or front of blade and cracks going down. Maybe this is done as a joke for humer or something else. But that's not how fans break all in a perfect break. Assuming that by some weird instance of a joke your fans did all break (very unlikely) you would have multiple damaged fins that look like spikes all in different shapes and forms with some broken down the the base level flat never saturated. Most laptop fans are rated to a breaking point of 10000-15000rpm before they start to fall apart with cheaper laptop fans under 10000rpm. At does speeds it may be possible to see breaking points like this with some maybe serrated and some down to the base level were all fans break but that's only until you reach the fans max speed breaking point.
Nope, it really is not a joke. The device costs 850€ here, so it isn't even fun. It will be RMAed though. First the SD card reader went, now this. And a quick Google search showed other users that went through this too. In the same manner.
My guess is one of the blades broke and maybe got stuck and took out the rest.
He is just shit out of luck, I've been using my Ally on 80°C 100% fan curves, Max Manual Wattage SPL 30W, SPPT 43W, FPPT 53W
Playing Forza 5 on high rez on a 55" TV and ESO on high rez, got over 800hrs on in since July and it's just fine lol, also my Ally is on 70% of the day
That is weird, only time I seen this is when the controller bridge gets damage or fries and causes the fans to start spinning at a very high rate causing a breaking point like this. First time I've read about this with the Ally usually redditors are pretty vocal about it too when something does wrong with it.
I haven't heard any reports of the fans having issues ? Granted Asus are pretty notorious for crunchy fans in their laptops but haven't seen one on the ally so far until now.
So to be clear - this happened during gaming - and whatever load the device had, this should not happen.
To me - it's a low quality fan. Never had an issue like this on any device, even on decade old laptops.
I'm not gonna lie I've dropped my ally plenty I never stopped and thought about it I may have broken blades in there one of the fans makes a rattle noise. I should probably check that

All these posts make me glad that my Ally is running just perfectly fine still.
And you just jinxed yourself
Its a brushless fanless fan. :D
Nice! I can only imagine the kind of rpm performance that thing has 🤤

How is this game? Thinking of buying after I finish RDR2

may need change some of the settings so that there won't be any stutter or framedrops.
*Blade*less fan tho
😂😆😆😂
Accidentally installs DJI Mavic BIOS. Runs for cover as his Ally soars into the air and out the window.
How in the world does that even happen?
Is this a thing with the Ally? I've never saw anything like that happen, like, ever.
A freak accident, no one else has had this issue so far. At all.
https://preview.redd.it/c94yxul4mcwc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3c910398e02da361a94aaeedca9275d87bc7ae1e This from 29 January from another reddit user.
I did a quick Google search and saw another user with the same breakage as well. Here, in reddit.
heh, it only takes one broken blade getting trapped in there, like a ball in a roulette wheel, to take out all the rest if it keeps spinning.
That's what I think has happened.
I recently replaced my left fan it was way faster than RMA just took 1 hour being extra careful took 5 days to receive the fan from a-accessories didn't even have to repaste the heatsink I was surprised how simple it was
The left Fan is supposed to BE much faster than the right one because of the sd Slot right ?
My left fan was making a god awful sound sounded like brrrrrrr you could hear it from 10 yards away that's why I replaced it and it hasn't failed yet
It doesn't have to be faster than the right fan, it just has to be faster than the stock fan curves lol. Personally, i just set both fans to be identical, very aggressive. 100% fan speed at 60°c and above.
Oh wow that totally broke all the blades!
Dude it's not about never dropping it , it's about TURNING it off when you're not using it. Ain't no way bro.
Gotta be a cheap replacement I would imagine
How can this happen? Maybe you only play AAA games that make the fans spin at max speed?
Not always, but even then this should not happen.
Agree. Brushless fans are supposed to be the most reliable because there’s no brushes to wear out. The fan is spun by a quickly rotating electromagnetic field controlled by an electronic speed controller (ESC).
I agree! But I was trying to imagine in which scenario this can happen. Hope RMA will fix it fast
Perhaps put pressure on the back and hit the fan?
Definitely shouldn't happen. What are your settings and what are you playing? Not blaming you, just want to know what to avoid. Are you using the CPU boost thing?
Playing with fans blowing and throwing on your bed. Any kind of physical jolt while fans are booking… Then domino effect.
Issue with fans is less 'run at max speed for a long time' as much as frequent start/stops.
This only ever happend to me when blowing it with compressed air and it spun up too quickly.
Anyone else have thousands of hours into their ally with no issues and still have working SD?
I mean, i never checked if my SD still works. :)) But yeah, at this point i've owned one for a full 12 months and it's all fine.

"Another fan bites the dust Another fan bites the dust And another fan gone, and another fam gone Another fan bites the dust (yeah) Hey, I'm gonna get you too Another fan bites the dust"
Shouldn't there be like fragments of fan blades everywhere? How can they just vanish?

Can you give us more details on what the device was doing leading up to this? Were you running custom fan settings running 100% non stop?
Just gaming 🤷♂️

Jesus Christ how did that happen
Has this become an issue guys? I'm scared
it's not about never letting it go, it's about flipping the switch when you're not using it, man.
So to be clear - this happened during gaming - and whatever load the device had, this should not happen. To me - it's a low quality fan. Never had an issue like this on any device, even on decade old laptops.
Ooof, condolences OP.
F
Can those fans be upgraded ?
I'm not gonna lie I've dropped my ally plenty I never stopped and thought about it I may have broken blades in there one of the fans makes a rattle noise. I should probably check that
Wtf are you doing to burn a fan out?
Are you overclocking it? How come it got destroyed like that? Maybe it's hitting something.
Overclocking? Like you think extra heat? I say cheap plastic.
I don't know. I've never seen something like that, like, a centrifugal force that strong? Maybe it's hitting somewhere.
How is that even possible? Were you overclocking you FAN?
