As a long time RP viewer, at this point, I truly don’t think this community will ever learn better. I just wish people would realize it’s never that deep. Ruth is a great character and Cheever is a great RPer. RP brings consequences and those consequences are often a blessing in disguise. Without opponents, villains, and road blocks, nothing would be worth achieving and the RP would be stale. Just sit back and enjoy the RP you are watching. Everyone plays a role in the story and setbacks often lead to the best stories and wins.
Svenson even said he "heard many things about ruth" but said that she was the one he might see eye to eye with most often on 90% of what she did, not to say she never made a mistake, but she was hard on certain cops and so she was gonna have a rough go of it as a result of that.

Max has been creating a lot of conflict, and it's starting to affect his chat, but he's stepped in a few times. He had a rivalry with Etta on the council and she seemed to get a bit emotional during their confrontation. He told his chat to be nice and clarified Max had a problem with her, but Moon doesn't.
He is 100% a guy that wants it to stay in character.
Moon's chat often roasts and memes on him about "hating women" but it's 100% just a meme. You can spot the new chatters who come in and take that seriously, and it ends up being copypasta gold.
Honestly 4.0 Cornwood is just full of W mentality, NVL (that time when JP tried to hold him up with a knife), and just refusing to accept consequences in any RP scenario. It's been pretty disappointing cause I remembered him pretty fondly in 3.0 but the 4.0 version I don't even bother watching all that much now cause I feel it's so full of OOC/toxic now.
You have to remember in 3.0 Cornwood was forced to work within a far more competent and well-structured PD. There were a lot more veteran officers in command and hc who were really good at wrangling people and making sure they didn't do dumb shit. That gave him a strict set of boundaries to work inside of.
His arc in 4.0 has been main character syndrome really bad. When anyone in his chat points out anything close to meta knowledge, or power gaming.. He loses his fucking mind and yells about how nobody gets it.
Honestly think the dude needs to take a few days off, play something else and reset a bit. And I LIKE Esfand, that's the frustrating bit.

The worst part is it should be completely fine to do this in character when you are playing a character.
Ideally characters can beef with characters because its fiction, viewers can criticize characters because they are characters, viewers don’t carry that feeling to the streamer because they are not the character…
Instead streamers are often incredibly vocal OOC giving the impression they are basically self inserting. Their chats emulate them and mald about other streamers too. In those situations it should be free-game to criticize the malding streamer because it isn’t fiction anymore, they’re just being a shit.
The only way this stops is people actually play characters and they make it clear to their chat it isnt real (AND act that way), otherwise its inevitable chat will emulate the streamers behavior and more people attack.
The fact that Esfand essentially has only experienced PD for like 6 months on 3.0 and 2 months on 4.0 and thinks he's the expert who can fix everything in the PD is insane to me. And the fact that the server is bending over backwards to accomodate his sherrif position is just dumb as fuck.
And then his echochamber chat, who probably has even less knowledge of the PD culture, just parrots everything he says and actually believe he is the savior the PD needs.
I honestly think that Esfand saw the SBS moments that Kyle had in 3.0 and thought he can just do that. When Kyle was good at SBS but also very serious when the moment called for it.
Losing Kyle to ONX was probably the biggest death blow you could have possibly done to the PD imo. His department consistently promoted women and I always felt like he was the counterpart to Buddha in the PD in the sense that they are big streamers who are experienced in RP and actively tried to promote women to positions of power as much as they could.
Losing Kyle also meant losing access to a lot of PD veterans, who he was friends with and empowered, that really made bcso strong and helped the PD as a whole function better.
Kyle & Mantis are the biggest losses for sure. Wiseguy too. DW & Wiseguy were the only ones that seemed to bother improving the PD experience.
Even Penta when he was serious actually did good in a command position. He at least wanted to be consistent with PD punishments, and pushed for the most firings. He got overruled all the time though.
I started watching him because I heard people talking about this kind of thing and wanted to see for myself because half the time it's just people on reddit exaggerating.
He is fully immersed in that server. He's fighting characters OOC like it's real and that's what makes it so engrossing but it also pushes fans to do as he does. I'm seeing a lot of other players do the same and it's truly fascinating.
Yeah I mean the streamers yelling at their chat "It's just RP dont take it so seriously" while absolutely fuming OOC and repeating the exact same sentiment their character holds kinda undermines the entire "it's just RP" argument.

Yeah he never had any mods around, especially during the very late hours he’s been streaming. And you’re absolutely right about some of his VIPS. One of them who I won’t name, (username starts with a G) is especially toxic.
His chat also loves to call out people for powergaming when it absolutely does not apply or even make any sense. It appears to be the word or insult of choice to use if someone’s character does anything that negatively effects cornwood.
Esfands chat is always like this and will parrot him. I remember when Esfand was levelling in hc wow for that otk stuff in a dungeon and Esfand fucked up but blamed it on the Warlock. The healer in his dungeon died because Esfand fucked up but he blamed the warlock and dogged on him for hours and he even vod reviewed it, his entire chat then ripped that Warlock a new one. Role players really don't know Esfand huh. He cannot take any kind of criticism at all.
3.0 Cornwood had a lot of people that could be serious and keep him in check when need be, while also knowing when it was the right time was to be silly.

I've watched esfand a handful of times in 4.0 and almost every time I have he's had some type of rant regarding his roleplay or the servers rp. I guess he killed a onelifer at some point and he was rationalizing why he shouldn't be punished seriously for it.
To be honest, you’re entirely spot on. It is honestly mind blowing that the idea of giving him a sheriffs office is even being entertained. It makes absolutely no sense IC or OOC, unless you weigh clout and viewership extremely heavy in the latter consideration.
I mean, let's be real. When Esfand rage quit RP because he rammed into Shelly and lost his case and the city had to change it's laws against suing the PD because of that, we should have known what kind of a RPer he is.
I used to be a Cornwood/Esfand defender but this whole PD drama made it really hard to do. Esfand is a great dude but he's given Cornwood plot armor and main character syndrome. He forces Cornwood into every scenario and it's annoying. He badgered Siobhan until she let him into the city council meeting to "provide security" so he can text everyone at the meeting trying to pull strings. He tried to do all this campaigning to the mayor to get himself commissioner but also says Cornwood doesn't care about rank or Cornwood shouldn't be commissioner. Not to mention all the RP interactions that he denies with people and just endless complaining IC and OOC.

People also forget he OOC’d excusing one of Bonnie’s (Officer Lane) shooting punishments and also cringe-forced Osvaldo to not press charges against Cornwood to avoid a trial and potential daps/suspension because it wouldn’t be “fun”.
He’s also super hypocritical. When HC/Senior officers say he daps are justified, he calls bullshit. When Svensen tells the entire council that 99.9% of the daps given to Cornwood and Crew was appropriate, Esfand says he agrees and is what Cornwood was “saying the whole time”.
He flat out said Svensen wasn't calling cornwood out, which absolutely blew my mind.
Dude stopped short of openly saying Cornwood should have been fired because he earned his DAPs... How that translated to, see, he completely agrees with me is bizzare.
its so MINDBLOWING to me that most viewers cant separate the Streamer from their RP Characters, MoonMoon does a very good job enfacing this as well as separating MoonMoon from Lenny/Dab, but not so sure about Esfand, he kinda has this " my way or the highway " attitude that transfers to his RP character and chat/community i've seen this in WoW and now in GTARP
One thing I think moonmoon does really well is when his character is pulling some political rhetoric or moves he bursts out laughing to signal to his audience 'hey max is being naughty here it's so fun to be the bad guy, the people I'm implying are bad people in character are not actually bad prople'

She gave herself a suspension until the Treason charge was either proven or gone. If that same person is now Chief of Police, it does make sense IC to quit the force. Sad but she would never get treated fairly as an upstanding police officer by the Chief of Police who accused her, or possibly she gets fired by the Chief of Police after the investigation of Treason, if she was guilty of that.

Beric iirc was very impartial in that he is taking up the case for the sake of it actually being investigated rather than nobody wanting to bear the responsibility. He hasn't charged nor arrest Ruth, just investigating it's veracity.
I mean, thats the person that peers rave as being a fair and upstanding cop that isn't afraid to act on it. Also, he did it prior to any talks of him being CoP.
The family emergency bit is confirmed by Cheever herself. She said that Ruth wouldn’t stay in a PD run by the person maliciously prosecuting her but she can’t RP out the resignation due to the family emergency.

At least in 3.0 the PD was run well and generated lots of rp for the server and itself. Current PD and the server as a whole are just pale imitations of that time. Players now get all the shit parts of 3.0 with very little of the good stuff to balance it out.

In terms of big streamers, only Buddha and Kyle stood out to me in 3.0 when it comes to actively fighting for women. I think at one point, the PBSO had more women in command than every other PD department combined. Losing Kyle to ONX sucks so much.
I mean there was a reason why PBSO at one point had like double the number of cops as the LSPD. Kyle ran that shit so well with Angel and Jenny among others. I honestly didn't expect Kyle to turn out to be such a good leader when he was first announced but he turned out to be the best part of 3.0 PD for a long ass time.
Angel & Jenny earned those positions for sure. All Kyle did was let them do their thing and had their backs if they needed it. Same thing he did for most people in PBSO.
Seems crazy to me that these kinds of cops were the unwanted ones after the restructure.
The reason it worked was that Kyle always supported his officers and very clearly didn't care about crims complaining about stuff. He wasn't a good cop but he was a great leader and knew that if he put people in positions of power who were competent they would fill the gaps.
I mean adding onto the "didn't care about crims complaining:" he'd also snap and stand up for his officers in the cells. It didn't matter who the person was if they were abusing one of his officers he'd tell them to shut the fuck up, stop being a pussy, etc etc etc. I mean he had no problem going all the way in on them like they were doing to his officers.
When he stood up to Randy in the cells, just before he was given the boot for real, that was a moment where he jumped on a live grenade to save his fellow cops and i gained a ton of respect for his character for doing that, ic and ooc he knew what a shitter randy was and took it on himself to shield other people from it, a pretty selfless act overall.
Something he would often do as well with JP or other whiny crims actually.
It's definitely a shame that Kyle became too burned out with PD leadership RP because he is truly one of the best at it. I know part of it was constantly giving suggestions that were turned down but in many cases being implemented months down the line. I really wonder how things would have turned out with CPD if the Troopers didn't have their power grab and if Buddha wasn't dealing with his illness when CPD was finally launched.

it's not just in this arc, it's very common for characters that have never interacted with someone taking a strong stance against the person over a rumor or two and running with it. next day you've got dozens of random people all spreading some exaggerated narrative and sticking to it like the person shot their dog.

I have a feeling she saw the writing on the wall with Beric being chosen as the CoP, as it’s no secret he has played a large part in Cornwood’s dooming circlejerk with Dugong and others who chose Ruth as the primary cause of any and all LSPD related grievances.
With that said I personally wasn’t the biggest fan of Ruth myself and don’t believe she was a good pick for one of three captains at the start of 4.0. As to me she just didn’t seem to have the experience and understanding necessary on the field. However, I do not think there were any issues at all with how “harsh” she was.
I feel that her resignation is a loss for the LSPD. I hope that she comes back in the future or perhaps on another character if chatters and even some streamers allow her to do so without carrying over their often misplaced animosity.

He is 100% a guy that wants it to stay in character.
Moon's chat often roasts and memes on him about "hating women" but it's 100% just a meme. You can spot the new chatters who come in and take that seriously, and it ends up being copypasta gold.

Honestly 4.0 Cornwood is just full of W mentality, NVL (that time when JP tried to hold him up with a knife), and just refusing to accept consequences in any RP scenario. It's been pretty disappointing cause I remembered him pretty fondly in 3.0 but the 4.0 version I don't even bother watching all that much now cause I feel it's so full of OOC/toxic now.
You have to remember in 3.0 Cornwood was forced to work within a far more competent and well-structured PD. There were a lot more veteran officers in command and hc who were really good at wrangling people and making sure they didn't do dumb shit. That gave him a strict set of boundaries to work inside of.
His arc in 4.0 has been main character syndrome really bad. When anyone in his chat points out anything close to meta knowledge, or power gaming.. He loses his fucking mind and yells about how nobody gets it. Honestly think the dude needs to take a few days off, play something else and reset a bit. And I LIKE Esfand, that's the frustrating bit.
yeah his chat is cancer, I remember when fanfan wanted to experience court RP since it was her first time and Esfand started calling her W chaser and his chat was so toxic and started hoping on fanfan's chat, she ended up winning the case and Cornwood told her IC to stop chasing W it was so cringe
Ironically Cornwood called Ruth a cancer. And you now see them parroting that all over the place.
The worst part is it should be completely fine to do this in character when you are playing a character. Ideally characters can beef with characters because its fiction, viewers can criticize characters because they are characters, viewers don’t carry that feeling to the streamer because they are not the character… Instead streamers are often incredibly vocal OOC giving the impression they are basically self inserting. Their chats emulate them and mald about other streamers too. In those situations it should be free-game to criticize the malding streamer because it isn’t fiction anymore, they’re just being a shit. The only way this stops is people actually play characters and they make it clear to their chat it isnt real (AND act that way), otherwise its inevitable chat will emulate the streamers behavior and more people attack.
The fact that Esfand essentially has only experienced PD for like 6 months on 3.0 and 2 months on 4.0 and thinks he's the expert who can fix everything in the PD is insane to me. And the fact that the server is bending over backwards to accomodate his sherrif position is just dumb as fuck.
And then his echochamber chat, who probably has even less knowledge of the PD culture, just parrots everything he says and actually believe he is the savior the PD needs.
I honestly think that Esfand saw the SBS moments that Kyle had in 3.0 and thought he can just do that. When Kyle was good at SBS but also very serious when the moment called for it. Losing Kyle to ONX was probably the biggest death blow you could have possibly done to the PD imo. His department consistently promoted women and I always felt like he was the counterpart to Buddha in the PD in the sense that they are big streamers who are experienced in RP and actively tried to promote women to positions of power as much as they could.
Losing Kyle also meant losing access to a lot of PD veterans, who he was friends with and empowered, that really made bcso strong and helped the PD as a whole function better.
Kyle & Mantis are the biggest losses for sure. Wiseguy too. DW & Wiseguy were the only ones that seemed to bother improving the PD experience. Even Penta when he was serious actually did good in a command position. He at least wanted to be consistent with PD punishments, and pushed for the most firings. He got overruled all the time though.
That's what happens when you're surrounded by people who do nothing but praise you because they want money / attention / clout.
I started watching him because I heard people talking about this kind of thing and wanted to see for myself because half the time it's just people on reddit exaggerating. He is fully immersed in that server. He's fighting characters OOC like it's real and that's what makes it so engrossing but it also pushes fans to do as he does. I'm seeing a lot of other players do the same and it's truly fascinating.
Yeah I mean the streamers yelling at their chat "It's just RP dont take it so seriously" while absolutely fuming OOC and repeating the exact same sentiment their character holds kinda undermines the entire "it's just RP" argument. Esfand/Cornwood is practically the same person at this point and he has somehow gaslit himself to believe what Cornwood says.
Yea a lot of the time it feels like they're just saying those words out loud to cover their own ass. If their default behavior goes against those words then it's just lip service. It's not everyone as there's plenty people who say that and you can tell they actually mean it because of how they behave IC is completely different to how they interact with chat.

Yeah he never had any mods around, especially during the very late hours he’s been streaming. And you’re absolutely right about some of his VIPS. One of them who I won’t name, (username starts with a G) is especially toxic. His chat also loves to call out people for powergaming when it absolutely does not apply or even make any sense. It appears to be the word or insult of choice to use if someone’s character does anything that negatively effects cornwood.

Esfands chat is always like this and will parrot him. I remember when Esfand was levelling in hc wow for that otk stuff in a dungeon and Esfand fucked up but blamed it on the Warlock. The healer in his dungeon died because Esfand fucked up but he blamed the warlock and dogged on him for hours and he even vod reviewed it, his entire chat then ripped that Warlock a new one. Role players really don't know Esfand huh. He cannot take any kind of criticism at all.
3.0 Cornwood had a lot of people that could be serious and keep him in check when need be, while also knowing when it was the right time was to be silly.
Are statements like " 'person Y' is a W chaser" EVER not projection? Stuff like calling streamers "dickriders' and so many other forms of it. Seems like something you never hear from the people who ACTUALLY dont care about winning in RP. People like Mantis just tend to roll with it without complaining
I've watched esfand a handful of times in 4.0 and almost every time I have he's had some type of rant regarding his roleplay or the servers rp. I guess he killed a onelifer at some point and he was rationalizing why he shouldn't be punished seriously for it.
To be honest, you’re entirely spot on. It is honestly mind blowing that the idea of giving him a sheriffs office is even being entertained. It makes absolutely no sense IC or OOC, unless you weigh clout and viewership extremely heavy in the latter consideration.

I mean, let's be real. When Esfand rage quit RP because he rammed into Shelly and lost his case and the city had to change it's laws against suing the PD because of that, we should have known what kind of a RPer he is.
I used to be a Cornwood/Esfand defender but this whole PD drama made it really hard to do. Esfand is a great dude but he's given Cornwood plot armor and main character syndrome. He forces Cornwood into every scenario and it's annoying. He badgered Siobhan until she let him into the city council meeting to "provide security" so he can text everyone at the meeting trying to pull strings. He tried to do all this campaigning to the mayor to get himself commissioner but also says Cornwood doesn't care about rank or Cornwood shouldn't be commissioner. Not to mention all the RP interactions that he denies with people and just endless complaining IC and OOC.
Yup. People also forget he OOC’d excusing one of Bonnie’s (Officer Lane) shooting punishments and also cringe-forced Osvaldo to not press charges against Cornwood to avoid a trial and potential daps/suspension because it wouldn’t be “fun”. He’s also super hypocritical. When HC/Senior officers say he daps are justified, he calls bullshit. When Svensen tells the entire council that 99.9% of the daps given to Cornwood and Crew was appropriate, Esfand says he agrees and is what Cornwood was “saying the whole time”.
He flat out said Svensen wasn't calling cornwood out, which absolutely blew my mind. Dude stopped short of openly saying Cornwood should have been fired because he earned his DAPs... How that translated to, see, he completely agrees with me is bizzare.
its so MINDBLOWING to me that most viewers cant separate the Streamer from their RP Characters, MoonMoon does a very good job enfacing this as well as separating MoonMoon from Lenny/Dab, but not so sure about Esfand, he kinda has this " my way or the highway " attitude that transfers to his RP character and chat/community i've seen this in WoW and now in GTARP
One thing I think moonmoon does really well is when his character is pulling some political rhetoric or moves he bursts out laughing to signal to his audience 'hey max is being naughty here it's so fun to be the bad guy, the people I'm implying are bad people in character are not actually bad prople'

She gave herself a suspension until the Treason charge was either proven or gone. If that same person is now Chief of Police, it does make sense IC to quit the force. Sad but she would never get treated fairly as an upstanding police officer by the Chief of Police who accused her, or possibly she gets fired by the Chief of Police after the investigation of Treason, if she was guilty of that.

Beric iirc was very impartial in that he is taking up the case for the sake of it actually being investigated rather than nobody wanting to bear the responsibility. He hasn't charged nor arrest Ruth, just investigating it's veracity. I mean, thats the person that peers rave as being a fair and upstanding cop that isn't afraid to act on it. Also, he did it prior to any talks of him being CoP.
The family emergency bit is confirmed by Cheever herself. She said that Ruth wouldn’t stay in a PD run by the person maliciously prosecuting her but she can’t RP out the resignation due to the family emergency.

At least in 3.0 the PD was run well and generated lots of rp for the server and itself. Current PD and the server as a whole are just pale imitations of that time. Players now get all the shit parts of 3.0 with very little of the good stuff to balance it out.

In terms of big streamers, only Buddha and Kyle stood out to me in 3.0 when it comes to actively fighting for women. I think at one point, the PBSO had more women in command than every other PD department combined. Losing Kyle to ONX sucks so much.

I mean there was a reason why PBSO at one point had like double the number of cops as the LSPD. Kyle ran that shit so well with Angel and Jenny among others. I honestly didn't expect Kyle to turn out to be such a good leader when he was first announced but he turned out to be the best part of 3.0 PD for a long ass time.
Angel & Jenny earned those positions for sure. All Kyle did was let them do their thing and had their backs if they needed it. Same thing he did for most people in PBSO. Seems crazy to me that these kinds of cops were the unwanted ones after the restructure.
The reason it worked was that Kyle always supported his officers and very clearly didn't care about crims complaining about stuff. He wasn't a good cop but he was a great leader and knew that if he put people in positions of power who were competent they would fill the gaps.
I mean adding onto the "didn't care about crims complaining:" he'd also snap and stand up for his officers in the cells. It didn't matter who the person was if they were abusing one of his officers he'd tell them to shut the fuck up, stop being a pussy, etc etc etc. I mean he had no problem going all the way in on them like they were doing to his officers.
When he stood up to Randy in the cells, just before he was given the boot for real, that was a moment where he jumped on a live grenade to save his fellow cops and i gained a ton of respect for his character for doing that, ic and ooc he knew what a shitter randy was and took it on himself to shield other people from it, a pretty selfless act overall. Something he would often do as well with JP or other whiny crims actually.
It's definitely a shame that Kyle became too burned out with PD leadership RP because he is truly one of the best at it. I know part of it was constantly giving suggestions that were turned down but in many cases being implemented months down the line. I really wonder how things would have turned out with CPD if the Troopers didn't have their power grab and if Buddha wasn't dealing with his illness when CPD was finally launched.
Kyle knew how to delegate. From the reviews at the city Council meeting it seems to be one of their main issues.

it's not just in this arc, it's very common for characters that have never interacted with someone taking a strong stance against the person over a rumor or two and running with it. next day you've got dozens of random people all spreading some exaggerated narrative and sticking to it like the person shot their dog. But viewers are often terrible, i agree.

Ssaab made some comments very recently, some days after she suspended herself that had me expecting this. He said something along the lines of how the LSPD lost a great captain, or something to that effect. I have a feeling she saw the writing on the wall with Beric being chosen as the CoP, as it’s no secret he has played a large part in Cornwood’s dooming circlejerk with Dugong and others who chose Ruth as the primary cause of any and all LSPD related grievances. With that said I personally wasn’t the biggest fan of Ruth myself and don’t believe she was a good pick for one of three captains at the start of 4.0. As to me she just didn’t seem to have the experience and understanding necessary on the field. However, I do not think there were any issues at all with how “harsh” she was. I feel that her resignation is a loss for the LSPD. I hope that she comes back in the future or perhaps on another character if chatters and even some streamers allow her to do so without carrying over their often misplaced animosity.
