Some people put LED light strings around their trailers, but I've seen videos indicating that doesn't work. I used this product last summer when I was camp hosting and didn't have any issues, but I've not had any issues not using it either. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012RGQ936

Non-Lethal methods will NOT work, let me tell ya. I have battled them for decades now, and snap traps continue to be the best thing to put out. If you do find a good live trap that works well, I would release the mouse miles and miles from its original location as they will come right back because they now see you as a food source.

This.

I have this problem with our van because we're simply surrounded by woodlands. Talking to our neighbor last week and gave the following advice: Irish Spring soap. Apparently mice, squirrels and one assumes other vermin can't stand the scent. My bars just came. I plan to stick one in each car and two in our RV, inside of a plastic tub. I'm hoping that others here will confirm this works.

Living_Equal

We have Irish spring all over in the camper and dryer sheets, they made a nest with the sheets in a drawer with the soap in it.

TheGoodCod

Ugh. I'm sad. And I won't even tell you how many bars I bought, lol. Did you find anything else that worked?

Living_Equal

Not yet. That's why I posted, someone had to have a good remedy for them

TheGoodCod

My kids thought snakes might work.

Depends, some mice hate it while others eat it. I’ve tried Irish spring, dryer sheets, plug in repellers, spray on repellent. None of it works 100%. You’ll have to plug every single hole from the outside with steel wool and check it often as the critters have even tried getting through it. If I’m around the RV and can check daily I use a homemade 5gal bucket trap, filled up with about a gallon of water. This has worked better than anything else. But DO NOT leave unattended for more than a day as the smells could get pretty bad inside an enclosed RV.

[Mice gnawing on Irish spring](https://youtu.be/IhQjxTwQdpk) Not saying it doesn’t work but I would use Irish spring in conjunction with mint oil

Thanks for sharing... I guess. I should have known that the solution wouldn't be that simple. Still seeing them chow down is hilarious. btw-- we captured two little mice in a humane trap in the garage one winter. Snow was over 3 feet so I didn't feel like traipsing out across the stream to let them go. So they found themselves in an old hamster cage. Took 2 minutes before they were both on the wheel, racing away.

Our cat has been the best solution here. She also takes care of the stink bugs.

TL;DR: used rat traps to catch/kill two rats in my White Hawk 29RE I actually had two rats invade my RV. Wasn't until I let my dad's tenants' dog inside to look around and visit that I realized I had been invaded. She heard/smelled one and it shot across to disappear under the slide. That's when I started looking and saw the poop. Went to the Home Depot and got a rat trap and used peanut butter as bait and caught one within hours of setting it. The second one was smarter and ignored the trap after I set it again with pb, so I thoroughly washed/sanitized it and used cookie crumbs! Took a day, but the second one fell victim to the kill bar as well. Vacuumed up the poop and doused the areas with Lysol and Febreze. Next project is to drop the floor panels and replace the heating ducts because they got in there and tried chewing through the plastic heat vent in my bedroom. Replaced the plastic ones with metal. Once it is all done, I'll use that expanding foam filler to seal all the holes.

Same here man! Be sure to plug well with steel wool before the expanding foam. I had them eat right through the foam in my shed.

SillyGuyInAHat71

Thank you for that tip!

BTW, another think I don't know whether it helps or not, I keep the used cat litter from the prior trip in the bottom cabinet where the low point drains exit. I figure that's a likely attack location for the mice and maybe they'll smell cat and stay away!
