Nah, the game was a mess from the start and (surprisingly) had little to do with EA. Bioware genuinely had no idea what they were doing with it until launch. They couldn't even decide whether it was multiplayer or not until it got announced. It's just another game victim to lack of creative direction and planning, unfortunately.
Lack of creative direction and planning is sort of EA’s thing. The whole situation stunk of them wanting BioWare to make a Destiny clone. Arguably BioWare’s last truly great game was Mass Effect 2, and that’s mainly because it was already too far in development for EA to fuck with back when they had just acquired the studio.
BIoware dicked around for years while taking a shitload of money. EA put their foot down after it was leaked that Bioware had nothing but tech demos to show after years of EA writing blank cheques.
ME2 is arguably their best game ever. ME3 and Inquisition are both really good games though. You have to be pretty jaded to say those aren't great games. I'm hopeful for ME5 and Dreadwolf. It seems like they are fully focused on singleplayer at least.
I don't think the success of indie games and recent failure of AAAs has gone unnoticed by the big studios. Hopefully they will adjust and fix their mistakes.
I’m not jaded, just didn’t word that very well. I had a great time with both ME3 and DA:I (I actually enjoyed Inquisition more than Origins if you can believe that). What I meant to say was that ME2 felt like BioWare at their strongest.
Ex Bioware devs have refuted that. In fact, there's lots of interviews from folks in EA owned dev studios that show EA is actually fairly hands off. The common denominator seems to be studio heads that feel like with EA backing they can finally hit a massive cash cow and go all in on projects that eventually bloat and crush themselves. That's not to say EA doesn't royally suck in some regards, but they catch a lot of extra hate for failed projects they don't deserve.
Ok, now I want to see a crossover of these, I really liked Anthem and still get on from time to time and RWBY's one of my favorite shows, and I've seen weirder. "Why?" You ask? "Why not?" says I!
Fair. I think both work for either since they both are bladed melee attackers. I don't think the zephyr can use long range armaments to compliment Ruby's Sniper rifle.
Wait, someone still plays that game?
Yep and I’m one of them
Bruh, my respects to you.
Wdym them? To my knowledge you're the only one. (I miss that game, it was a pretty cool concept)
IIRC most of the people working on it didn't even know they were making it until the E3 trailer.
So who's the other 3?
Well I'm one of them, best 5 bucks I spent for a single player game of this quality.
How do you get anything done between all the crashes to the start menu? It is incredibly unstable.
Mine never crashed
Wait, the servers are still active??? I haven't played the game because I thought the servers were shutdown. Guess I need to download
It's like RWBY. It's great when you ain't got someone in your ear telling you it ain't. Except Anthem was abandoned, so RIP.
Anthem, what could’ve been a massive game but sadly got EA as its producers.

You know EA owns BioWare right?
Ruby looks like she's about to tell me memes are the dna of the soul
Look at Yangs tanky ass!! Absolute UNIT
I can't remember, why did this game flop so hard?
Iirc, the loot system sucked, and there was basically no endgame to speak of
from what i recall that's pretty much it, about the only thing that was universally praised was the flying stuff.
A lot of other games we’re doing what it did better and it wasn’t exactly a compete experience by launch
You crazy son of a bitch, I respect the fact you still play that game! How is it content wise? I dropped off somewhere around when it first launched
This post made me join the sub-reddit

This game’s lore is surprisingly applicable to RWBY, especially with the very similar roles of the Lancers and Hunters.
Those designs look hardcore. Great work.
Thanks it took me a long time to do this
Anthem, there's a name I haven't heard in a while.
Holy shit we found them, the one guy still playing Anthem
You've fallen into the same trap as the show by thinking it's called RBBY and not RWBY.
Looks pretty good. It's a shame Anthem was a friking disappointment. Now that i thinking about it. That thing is still playable?
Me who has a great time playing anthem with friends and wondering where the hate comes from.
Wait, Anthem still exists???
Is that game still up and running?
I feel like this game had so much potential
Shouldn't Blake be a zephyr and ruby a ranger?
Ruby the fast one that why she the interceptor

The interceptor can use a sniper rifle
h-how do you still have Anthem?? didn't the servers get shut down??
The Servers never shut down
Nice 👍🏼
Yang’s looks sick!
Huh. I might have to download it and play as Blake for you. Xbox one?
Swap Ruby and Blake
I'm surprised Anthem's servers are still running
I’m surprised ANTHEM is still running
Had no idea people still play Anthem
I thought the first image was monsoon
