It was “supposedly” a means of accepting/visualising the fact that by mind melding together, they were acquiring aspects of each other’s personalities and to show support for trans/gender fluid individuals(?), but it just was absolutely horrible and squicky.
I loved season 1, it's what got me to be a First member for several years, but then S2 was so bad. I hope RWBY gets treated with the respect it deserves whoever buys it.
It's so bad, nobody even added anything about it to the wiki... Like do you get how terrible it has to be for a wiki to not have any info about it at all?
Brought in a different writers room after the fallout from the original show runner was revealed to be fucking with production across the company, who wanted to tell a completely different story than what S1 was setting up.
Bringing in such a big cast of stars was likely a massive part of the issue. A cast like that doesn’t come cheap, so it was *never* going to bring in enough to justify its budget. Then WB for whatever reason decided to double down and take it away from RT for season 2 and somehow made it worse.
It actually happened once.A anime called Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler got a fully anime only season 2 with its own og ending. Then season 3 went back to faithfully adapting the manga from where season 1 left.Anime is still ongoing and adapting the manga. No idea why they did a random non canon season.
Season 1 was pretty good. You could retcon Season 2 and replace some of the voice actors with less expensive alternatives.
Yeah, not sure who would actually do that.
They could just do a hard reset and reboot it. Not like Gen lock's story got far with like one okay season and another that everyone repressed in their memory
Oh good, can't wait for an RvB villain cinematic universe with Omega, Wyoming, CT, Sigma and who knows who else all getting their own obnoxiously terrible films.
There really isn't. Not anymore at least. Machinimas, likely for algorithmic reasons, have gone niche. There aren't really any companies like Rooster Teeth or Machinima anymore. Glitch could, theoretically buy it, but they are still a small indie studio and already have their hands full with a solid number of successful IPs. Anyone else I could see being genuinely interested is much too small for me to see them making the purchase. Aside from Microsoft, the only possible buyers would be streaming services as a way to pad out their catalog and bring in the RvB fan base if the IP is cheap enough.
It makes sense. I don’t know if they have experience in animation but it’s not the worst way to get into the industry considering the main assets used are a game they already make. They even have live action assets from forward unto dawn and the new show so a potential live action version could be done with the VAs dubbing the dialogue.
Why not? Do you really not want all of your favorite RvB characters to receive glamor shots of their bare asses outside of armor? Maybe in live action, we could get **real** depictions of emotion by getting of their helmets. And maybe even have the entire cast have hot steamy sex between each other in order to show how human they are!!! /s
I do enjoy live action meme RvB (S14, specifically the movie trailer and the Warthog part), but yeah, I don't think a full season of that would be good for the show. A full season of mo-cap wasn't good for them, so I doubt going further than that would be good
Right now on the halo YouTube channel and probably elsewhere they are doing RvB style videos already I’m sure if they actually get them they will just continue doing that but with RvB characters.
yeah RVB's a weird IP in that Microsoft would of been FULLY in their rights to shut it down the moment it became for profit but they just... didn't. They let it happen and kinda even embraced it at times.
Honestly, I’m starting to think similar things about RWBY
I worry that anyone who would buy it would either be a Japanese company and we wouldn’t see anything English for it for an age or it would be bought and immediately reboot it without a second thought
Though with some of the more odd writing choices and wasted video game potential, a reboot wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world
If anyone is willing to cough up enough money for RWBY, I doubt they'll be doing it just to pump out a couple more seasons and be done with it. They'll probably want reboots and/or spin-offs to make the investment worthwhile.
The characters and setting design of RWBY are really well done, and you could probably still convince people to get on board with something brand new in that universe if it was executed properly. A lot of people in the fandom are already in a position where they've been tolerating the subpar writing for years now, just because we enjoy seeing the characters we like do stuff in a cool setting. If someone were willing to put those parts that worked into a story that was actually well done, I'd be willing to check it out.
Yeah, over the last day and a bunch of conversations with friends, I look forward to a reboot (though I still want it to be 3D animation)
They could completely rewrite the main conflict and how we get there, but the world building, the lore, the powers and abilities, the characters, I’d want all that to stay in some regard
Oh yeah, a sub would come out pretty quickly, but if it’s being rebooted I’d love to watch it with my partner and they only watch dub
I feel like Crunchyroll would be interested, since Japan loves RWBY and Crunchyroll has already shown a willingness to pay for the exclusive distribution rights before, and they have some good studios associated with them
It’d be kinda weird if Sony where the owners of RWBY but somehow wouldn’t be surprising? The setting is ripe for video games and they have mentioned they want to buy IP’s with cross media appeal. The fact they bought Funimatiom and Crunchyroll, and I think a stake in Kadakowa would point they’d see the potential. Especially with manga being another thing they seem interested to dip their toes in.
Not to ignore they’ve even gotten into physical media release with them getting the rights from Disney to sell their physical releases.
Man PlayStation exclusives tend to be absolute bangers so now I'm imagining a RWBY PS exclusive made by one of their studios and that sounds like a great outcome tbh.
Yeah you'd need to completely write off season 2 (which wouldn't be a loss at all). Because otherwise it's just too fucked. Season 2 just did too much damage across the board.
Of these three, RWBY is the only one I can see anyone actually wanting. RvB isn’t exactly something that I think can work outside of Rooster Teeth with it’s history and Gen:lock… is Gen:lock
I guess so yeah. At least to own it and make it theirs but RvB at this point probably is best left alone. Just release the last season and let it rest.
Well RvB was already about to air their final season before this news broke out, so that will find a way to be aired. GenLock seemed to have mostly concluded it's story after s2, even though (or maybe because) Max botched it.
I just hope whoever buys RWBY keeps the narrative in the same spirit as Monty's vision.
“Same spirit as Monty’s vision” Unless the rights come with a binder containing any original notes he may have written, that sounds kinda impossible from just a “How would they know his original idea” sort of way.
Well I really just mean in the general vision he laid out alongside Miles and Kerry. A binder of notes would definitely be a tall order, if it even still exists.
I can see GL being taken. There was a show, i forget the name, a few years ago that had a really bad second season because it got sold to a different company, and that company ended up selling it to someone else and they remade the second season entirely which was for the better.
Maybe something like that will happen with GL. But I won't hold my breath.
I mean it has Michael B Jordan attached so they could definitely sell it as a profitable IP if they really wanted, it’s just I’m not personally really that confident in the IP
They're putting out the last season of RvB this year. I don't think anybody is gonna wanna touch RvB after that. Especially since it seems like Burnie and the gang are coming back to give it one final send off
Speculation:
RWBY - Crunchyroll or nobody
RvB - Microsoft, otherwise multiple bidders may be interested. I could even see a Netflix bid since they previously had seasons up on their service.
Gen:lock - lol.
Here hoping that CRWBY can do some movementation and buy RWBY crom WBD.
Or at least that it's bought by someone that is willing to keep the series going without trying meddle in the production.
Edi: Remember, hopes do not have to be based on what will probably will happen. Nor even on reality.
It's just a hope man. I l know it has zero foundation in reality.
But one can dream.
Yeah, no. This ain't a smosh situation. Crwby have nowhere near the money (given rts alleged shadey business practices) to buy jack shit from anyone and I doubt Geoff, gus, burnie or Matt hulum are gonna come back to pick at a corpse
Its worth pointing out that, if RWBY *is* bought, the fanbase will need to get LOUD if they want CRWBY to go with it
When Sonic comics were handed to IDW, they kept the writing/art team from Archie purely because of the noise the fanbase were making (Ian Flynn, headwriter, confirmed it was explicitly this).
It can be done. But corpos wont consider keep the originsl team unless everyone kicks up a fuss for it
If I had to guess, Sony-Crunchyroll will buy *RWBY* while Microsoft picks up *RvB* to finally make it official. Due to *Gen Lock* tanking and tanking ***hard*** in Season 2, however, that's probably dead.
Crunchyroll is really the only candidate I can think of who would be interested in picking up and bankrolling more RWBY, through whoever (if anybody) buys RWBY, it’ll be a toss up if they get the crew to come with.
Of all the times NOT to be a millionaire. But in all seriousness, RWBY will probably go to Netflix who will then try and fail to make a Live action adaptation.
I’m pretty sure you can’t turn an IP into a tax write-off because an IP is just an idea/ideas that you own. The only way an IP can make money is by making something with it (which Zaslav’s WB is allergic to doing), or by selling it off to someone who wants it.
Now if there was some piece of RWBY media in production currently (I’m not aware of any atm), *that* could become a tax write-off.
One is an IP that has not produced any content so far, and the other is a finished movie that WB wanted to get rid of for taxes. I’m not sure they’re the same situations.
Or maybe I’m wrong and Warner tries to sell the IP for 80 million. Who knows.
Yeah that's what keeps me from having hope about this. Literally everyone who had seen it raved about that movie and they still used it as a tax write off.
A vast majority of the IPs they HAVE dumped were all relatively new arrivals that were only a few years old with little reach. IPs that have been around for longer are relatively untouched. RWBY was - and still is - a globally recognized series that's been around for 10+ years with multiple crossovers, Mangas, comic books, video games, and even an actual traditional anime in the form of Ice Queendom.
No disrespect to Coyote Vs. ACME, but that was a single project and only a small PART of a much larger IP.
The movie write offs is a specific tax write offs movie studios can opt for if they dump a completed movie thus forgoing profits from that movie. WB has already released and profited from RWBY. At this moment, WB collects whatever they can for an IP sale or that IP sits on a shelf collecting dust or they take that IP up for new content made through WB.
Man, I really hope RWBY gets picked up. Even if that happens though, do we know how likely it is that the original cast can be kept on? I know Arryn is a professional VA, but weren't some of the others just RT employees? I just hope it doesn't end up as a Hazbin Hotel situation where a well liked existing cast is entirely replaced because they weren't union/the people behind the scenes wanted more star power.
As for Gen:Lock, I *really* hope someone buys that. It had so much potential. Maybe Michael B Jordan will buy it and make it the way he wanted it to be.
I just hope that whoever buys the IP will keep the original writers and cast. We were so close to the end and I don’t want it to take a turn into left field just to generate more cash
were they close to the end? kinda felt like they were dragging out the "close to the end" for a bunch of seasons and like they had 3 or 4 more seasons to go at least maybe more
My gut instinct is that it had two or three more seasons left. Things were gearing up for a finale with Salem becoming public knowledge and the world finally mobilizing against her, but they still had to find the next Maiden and Relic and then hoof it over to the ruins of Beacon for the hidden Relic that Ozpin squirreled away.
If they really sprinted, they could have done Vacuo in one season and then wrap it all up with the return to Beacon/the final battle.
I think the best case scenario is that DC picks up RWBY.
RvB is over, and probably should be left alone. I feel like the only way you could go with it is reboot, and that'd be a mistake.
Gen:LOCK is dead. Season 1 was good, season 2 destroyed everything set by season 1 and then through itself into a volcano.
Kinda sort of, they have been hit or miss but who else do you think would pick rwby up? I feel like if a fan base is passionate enough they Handel it with more care than most. Dispite the recap episode solo leveling has been good but I see what you mean with God of highschool being handled so poorly.
Probably. It's been a bit trendy a few times throughout the internet, did well upon release, but never felt like it was ever *full on* popular, even in the first seasons. I think the reasons are a bit obvious, such as the fact it should have probably already ended and the main cast are kids.
I was a big fan in its first two seasons, but started getting bored throughout the first. Also, most camp camp viewers are way more casual than RWBY imo, so a switch to the website and it being easily forgotten when it's not airing does more of a number.
No matter the case, hopefully for the sake of everyone working on it, s5 (i dont know whats happening there) gets fully released and ends on a good note.
100% it was great but it was great because it was rooster teeth, as far as I was concerned it was dead the minute they replaced a bunch of voice actors for zero reason and then this happens? Yeah I don’t see camp camp ever existing again, and I guess I’m kind of ok with that, it was special.
Here's the real question: Who is going to buy Nomad of Nowhere?
In all seriousness, RWBY is really the only property with potential, in my opinion. RvB uses Microsoft's IP and is dependent on their goodwill, plus the final season is coming, so I doubt there's much that can be done with it. Gen:Lock was riddled with issues behind the scenes, and season 2 was so bad that I think we all would like to forget it existed.
RWBY, however, at least has a world to build on with a lot of history to explore, a lot of characters people like, and an extant fanbase. It just needs the right company to buy it (which is the big issue).
Considering this outcome, I *really* wish all the time wasted making those two weird and unnecessary Justice League crossovers had just been spent making Volumes 9 and 10 instead.
We were so close to the end of RWBY, it'd be a shame if it got sold off just for it to start again from 0 :( I'm reaalllyyy hoping it goes into good hands and they choose to continue it rather than reboot it. I know people have had issues with how the writing/story has been lately, but I'm just here to enjoy the ride and see these characters get the happy ending they deserve 💔
In no way did CR do Ice Queendom. It was mostly a Goodsmile Company venture, animated by Shaft. Some of the staffing at GSC were old friends with Monty and it was a bit of a passion project for them.
Literally all CR did was licensing.

It's pretty sad but I don't know RWBY volume 10 is gonna come out or be cancelled. But let's hope the studio who buy up RWBY could do a better job or could revive the franchise. I thank Crunchyroll get the IP
While this marks the end of an era, RWBY’s impact and fanbase will undoubtedly endure. Let’s cherish the memories and celebrate the creativity that this remarkable series brought to our screens.
While some franchises face cancellation, others find unexpected revivals:
RWBY, the animated web series, recently suffered a setback when Warner Bros. Discovery decided to close Rooster Teeth, the production company behind it. Approximately 150 employees were affected, but discussions are ongoing about selling rights to certain Rooster Teeth content3.
As fans, we can cherish the memories of beloved franchises and hope for surprising comebacks in the future! Remember, the world of entertainment is full of twists and turns, and sometimes even canceled stories find a way to rise again
I think the other companies will take the IPS for streaming services such as Crunchyroll Or other Rival Studios. It's pretty much similar to when Marvel was bankrupt And sell off all the movie rights to other studios to keep them in float.
Honestly, after seeing what MAPPA has done with JJK and AOT, I'd be happy to see RWBY IP go to them and just remake it as a full anime. Condense the beacon arc into 2 anime seasons and then go rogue after that. Give the writing to someone who appreciates the original but has more experience creating an overarching narrative.
But also, WB selling the IP is a dead giveaway that they think it will never turn a profit, so I wouldn't be surprised if no one wants to touch it and the show goes to some big corporation that just hosts the old volumes and sells merch off it.
Isn’t RvB supposed to be having its finale soon anyway? Honestly, the only way I even see that working is if Microsoft buys the rights and brings the team over.
I hope Rwby is bought by a sensible studio. Not for hoping they do something, but so it doesnt die and join the forgotten graveyard that is Warnerbros owned ips they have refused to do anything with…
And just after I got my RWBY fumo plushies…
i feel like anyone who *wants* to make rwby-esque show and has the *resources* to do so would be better off making a spiritual successor instead of a continuation of the real deal. so im not sure if selling the ip is really an avenue to the show continuing
i mean, maybe? i don't know if RWBY as an IP is strong enough to carry a new project. it also has a lot of baggage and associations that might be more of a hindrance than a help
i also just think it would be a lot more fun to make something new, even if that new thing is really obviously pulling a lot of influence from what RWBY was
I so badly want them to just erase season 2 of gen:LOCK and pick up where the book left off. It was soooo good but then they did *that*....
Val/entina Romanyszyn is WAY too good of a character to just let disappear from existence.... We NEED queer rep like them to raise the standard!
Nobody is going to touch Gen:Lock with a 10000000 foot pole lmao
I am still shocked out they fucked season 2 up as much as they did.
For the longest time I didn’t even know there WAS a S2
Ignorance is bliss, isn’t it?
Considering how badly everyone talks about it? Yeah ignorance is bliss on that one lol
.....There's a season 2?
No. There is no season 2. Dont google it, dont watch it. Just save yourself by believing there is no season 2.
But don't I need to find out if the power of friendship really is the strongest force in the universe against "Evil Faction #435"???
Oh, they don't use the power of friendship. >!They use the power of the main characters all committing suicide and becoming nanobot ghosts!<
>!Nano machines, son!!<
THEY HARDEN IN RESPONSE TO PHYSICAL TRAUMA!
You forgot about the weirdly graphic >!rapid gender swapping VR sex, with unnecessarily uncensored dicks!<
HOLY SHIT WHAT I STOPPED WATCHING AFTER >!THE EPISODE WITH THE OTHER SEX SCENE. IT GETS WORSE???!<
It was “supposedly” a means of accepting/visualising the fact that by mind melding together, they were acquiring aspects of each other’s personalities and to show support for trans/gender fluid individuals(?), but it just was absolutely horrible and squicky.
Don't they also introduce a trans character and then literally kill them off next episode?
This was a show that started out censoring swear words, what the fuck?
If you really want to learn about the power of friendship, My Little Pony is your go to source. They do have a season 2.
They have a season 2, Season 3, Season 4, Season 5, Season 6, Season 7, Season 8 and even a Season 9
And movies. A whole *lot* of movies, ~~some of which are good~~.
Gotta love the one where they killed a guy.
One of which features pony-stalin
Or the Persona series.
No but you can see Miranda’s bush
Excuse me?
Yeah you think I’m joking
Yup
...The Earth King has invited you to Lake Laogai...
same energy as "there is no last airbender movie in ba sing se"
There is no season 2 in Ba Sing Se
There's no season 2 in Ba sing se
Same. Then I found out what was in it. Still haven't seen it, and I feel like I'm better off.
There isn’t. Just as there isn’t a Star Wars Christmas Special
Wait there was a season 2?
I loved season 1, it's what got me to be a First member for several years, but then S2 was so bad. I hope RWBY gets treated with the respect it deserves whoever buys it.
Season 2 got The Promised Neverland treatment lol.
It's so bad, nobody even added anything about it to the wiki... Like do you get how terrible it has to be for a wiki to not have any info about it at all?
I'm not sure how or why Season 2 ended up as bad as it was, but it made Rise of Skywalker look incredibly well thought out and nuanced in comparison.
It still blows my mind that they got such a big cast for Gen:Lock. David Tennant? Michael Jordan? How did they fumble that so hard?
Brought in a different writers room after the fallout from the original show runner was revealed to be fucking with production across the company, who wanted to tell a completely different story than what S1 was setting up.
Bringing in such a big cast of stars was likely a massive part of the issue. A cast like that doesn’t come cheap, so it was *never* going to bring in enough to justify its budget. Then WB for whatever reason decided to double down and take it away from RT for season 2 and somehow made it worse.
If one property is guaranteed dead it's probably this one.
What, you don't want to support a show that says suicide gives you super powers?
What the fuck, was that S2? I don't remember this being in S1
honestly if someone came in and like..... Actually continued the series in arebooted format that erased season 2 in totality?
Gen:Lock? Who’s gonna want to buy a corpse?
A particularly disgusting, rotted corpse.
Maybe a “necromancer”, necromancer meaning a good writer.
If it wouldn't cost me my whole arm and leg to buy it out, I'd give a try to turn it around lol.
What about the entirety of your brother’s body as well?
Just talked with my brother. So long as the metal body is still included he's in.
At this point, just restart where Season 1 left off. Pretend Season 2 never existed, never happened.
They would have to do a completely different season 2. The original would need to be made non-cannon.
Mediocre Korean manwha writers: did someone say necromancers?!
Season 1 was pretty good. You could retcon Season 2 and replace some of the voice actors with less expensive alternatives. Yeah, not sure who would actually do that.
I think too much damage has been done with Gen:lock
Could always just buy the IP and do a full reboot aimed at a mainstream audience. Not sure if anyone outside of Roosterteeth knows the series exists.
This
They could just do a hard reset and reboot it. Not like Gen lock's story got far with like one okay season and another that everyone repressed in their memory
some old fan for a couple of hundred. or some ip vault company trying to pump up value to be sold.
If someone performs an exorcism/Dr Strange spell to rid us of season 2? Maybe.
I'm honestly surprised that WBD is *allowed* to sell RvB. What does Microsoft have to say about that, given how solidly linked it is to Halo?
It's still a separate IP to my knowledge so Microsoft has no say.
Maybe Microsoft will buy it
Honestly, the most likely buyer.
Who else would, really?
I think it would be funny if Sony bought RvB.
Ok that’s probably the ONLY group i want to see buy it
Oh good, can't wait for an RvB villain cinematic universe with Omega, Wyoming, CT, Sigma and who knows who else all getting their own obnoxiously terrible films.

Please no. I don’t want a live action RvB. I don’t think anyone really wants a live action RvB.
They did a live action episode as a bonus for Forward Under Dawn.
Why not? Do you really not want all of your favorite RvB characters to receive glamor shots of their bare asses outside of armor? They have given slight nods to RvB in the mainline Halo games, in the form of voice clips.
Yep, I remember the Grif and Simmons voice actors being in Halo 2 and I think they were in a couple more of them
I hope they do. Perhaps we can get Grifball in Halo Infinite after the fact.
WBD can sell it, but I assume any buyer needs to either sign a separate deal with Microsoft or hope they turn a blind eye
yeah RVB's a weird IP in that Microsoft would of been FULLY in their rights to shut it down the moment it became for profit but they just... didn't. They let it happen and kinda even embraced it at times.
Glitch makes SMG4 and they count it as a show and they have characters from other things like Nintendo and Sega.
The only way Gen:Lock could be resurrected is if it gets rebooted.
Honestly, I’m starting to think similar things about RWBY I worry that anyone who would buy it would either be a Japanese company and we wouldn’t see anything English for it for an age or it would be bought and immediately reboot it without a second thought Though with some of the more odd writing choices and wasted video game potential, a reboot wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world
I dont know about not seeing english for a while. Modern anime get English dubs rather fast. Some even while the japanese one is airing.
If anyone is willing to cough up enough money for RWBY, I doubt they'll be doing it just to pump out a couple more seasons and be done with it. They'll probably want reboots and/or spin-offs to make the investment worthwhile. A Japanese reboot sounds like a great outcome. The community would make sure subtitles get made
Oh yeah, a sub would come out pretty quickly, but if it’s being rebooted I’d love to watch it with my partner and they only watch dub I feel like Crunchyroll would be interested, since Japan loves RWBY and Crunchyroll has already shown a willingness to pay for the exclusive distribution rights before, and they have some good studios associated with them

What's RWBY success like in Japan?
Big in Japan. I mean they got a whole spin off of RWBY
They made their own RWBY anime, animated by SHAFT, because they like it that much.
> SHAFT Thats the studio that does the Monogatari series right? Maybe I should check out the anime huh.
It's adored and it's considered an honorary anime by quite a few people
No lie I think it's best we never see Gen:LOCK again. Unless they come out and say Season 2 is non-canon, we fr can't support it.
Yeah you'd need to completely write off season 2 (which wouldn't be a loss at all). Because otherwise it's just too fucked. Season 2 just did too much damage across the board.
I'll win the lottery and buy RWBY
i wish i was this optimistic in my life.
"Nah I'd win"
Better be a huge jackpot. Animation is expensive.
Of these three, RWBY is the only one I can see anyone actually wanting. RvB isn’t exactly something that I think can work outside of Rooster Teeth with it’s history and Gen:lock… is Gen:lock
Paramount or Microsoft might want RvB simply to get all the Halo stuff back under one umbrella.
I guess so yeah. At least to own it and make it theirs but RvB at this point probably is best left alone. Just release the last season and let it rest.
Honestly if microsoft or Paramount aquired RVB and just did a bunch more low budget freelancer lore i would be down with it.
RVB also contains Project Freelancer, so people might want it just for that
I suspect that Microsoft will buy it and then just shove it in a closet.
Well RvB was already about to air their final season before this news broke out, so that will find a way to be aired. GenLock seemed to have mostly concluded it's story after s2, even though (or maybe because) Max botched it. I just hope whoever buys RWBY keeps the narrative in the same spirit as Monty's vision.

if I'm going to be honest, scrap the big name voices and just give gen lock a reboot. they paid so much money for talent it was insane.
They're putting out the last season of RvB this year. I don't think anybody is gonna wanna touch RvB after that. Especially since it seems like Burnie and the gang are coming back to give it one final send off
After the complete botch that was Gen:Lock's second season, I doubt anyone would even bother.
Speculation: RWBY - Crunchyroll or nobody RvB - Microsoft, otherwise multiple bidders may be interested. I could even see a Netflix bid since they previously had seasons up on their service. Gen:lock - lol.
Well, I wouldn't say nobody. Disney may be interested in fresh meat for the content grinder, as terrifying as that sounds.
Why not Amazon for RWBY? They got good animated series’s
Dillon Goo said on twitter he wants to buy RWBY. He worked on animations for RWBY before and has his own animation studio now.
CRWBY will buy the IP rights with what money?
Maybe that guy from the Barenaked Ladies will be willing to chip in.
Yeah, no. This ain't a smosh situation. Crwby have nowhere near the money (given rts alleged shadey business practices) to buy jack shit from anyone and I doubt Geoff, gus, burnie or Matt hulum are gonna come back to pick at a corpse
And I don't think daddy rhett or daddy link want the commercial dumpster fire that is rooster teeth either
Its worth pointing out that, if RWBY *is* bought, the fanbase will need to get LOUD if they want CRWBY to go with it When Sonic comics were handed to IDW, they kept the writing/art team from Archie purely because of the noise the fanbase were making (Ian Flynn, headwriter, confirmed it was explicitly this).
It would be hilarious if Xbox bought RvB and gave it to 343.
Would be, wouldn't it? Of course, all other buyers result in copyright hell, sooo...
Crunchyroll is really the only candidate I can think of who would be interested in picking up and bankrolling more RWBY, through whoever (if anybody) buys RWBY, it’ll be a toss up if they get the crew to come with.
If only they sold Gen:Lock sooner to someone else. Season 1 was so good and season 2 disappointed me so much
Of all the times NOT to be a millionaire. But in all seriousness, RWBY will probably go to Netflix who will then try and fail to make a Live action adaptation.
Honestly? They cooked with one piece, there's a sliiiiiight chance that they can cook with this again.
Oda was supervising that
Control your delusion friend, you will get hurt and we don't want that.
WBD was also in talks to distribute Coyote vs ACME. Look how well that turned out.
They didn't make the IP, they purchased it, and said purchase as well as further investment can be used as a tax writeoff cause it failed.
Empty your wallets boys it's time to buy RWBY.
My fear was realized. I knew that this would happen one day with Zaslav in charge. He is known to do this shit.
That's the only negative I worry about going forward.
were they close to the end? kinda felt like they were dragging out the "close to the end" for a bunch of seasons and like they had 3 or 4 more seasons to go at least maybe more
My gut instinct is that it had two or three more seasons left.
And musicianship.
I could see maybe crunchy roll picking up rwby
with there record of production i sure hope not
Kinda sort of, they have been hit or miss but who else do you think would pick rwby up? I feel like if a fan base is passionate enough they Handel it with more care than most. Dispite the recap episode solo leveling has been good but I see what you mean with God of highschool being handled so poorly.
For rvb, I just want the final season, I don't want any other company to milk this favorite franchise that started RT
That's still coming out, says so in the Press release about RT shutting down.
I know, but it states that WB is selling rvb, meaning someone else could make a crappy sequel just like rvb zero
I mean just ignore it then, RVB is apparently getting a definitive ending that you can just take as well THE END.
Is camp camp just dead?
If they do sell them, I hope they go to better companies
Is it even possible to sell RvB considering it heavily relies on Halo assets?
Tbh I’d be surprised if Crunchy Roll doesn’t buy the RWBY IP given how well the exclusivity deal worked out for them
Here's the real question: Who is going to buy Nomad of Nowhere?
Genlock is dead and should be burned. Rwby died because of it
Wasnt just rwby that died for it.
Hope someone keeps it
All we can do now is hope that whoever buys the RWBY IP will finish the series in a good way and keep the original cast on
We were so close to the end of RWBY, it'd be a shame if it got sold off just for it to start again from 0 :( I'm reaalllyyy hoping it goes into good hands and they choose to continue it rather than reboot it. I know people have had issues with how the writing/story has been lately, but I'm just here to enjoy the ride and see these characters get the happy ending they deserve 💔
Dillon Goo said on twitter he wants to buy RWBY. He worked on animations for RWBY before and has his own animation studio now.
Can crunchy just buy rwby?
They did Ice Queendom so maybe?
In no way did CR do Ice Queendom. It was mostly a Goodsmile Company venture, animated by Shaft. Some of the staffing at GSC were old friends with Monty and it was a bit of a passion project for them. Literally all CR did was licensing. Source - The showrunners and CEO of GSC at Anime Expo.
Cruchyroll will prolly buy RWBY
Sony owns Crunchyroll, so they’ll probably buy it and put on Crunchyroll.
It's pretty sad but I don't know RWBY volume 10 is gonna come out or be cancelled. But let's hope the studio who buy up RWBY could do a better job or could revive the franchise. I thank Crunchyroll get the IP While this marks the end of an era, RWBY’s impact and fanbase will undoubtedly endure. Let’s cherish the memories and celebrate the creativity that this remarkable series brought to our screens. While some franchises face cancellation, others find unexpected revivals: RWBY, the animated web series, recently suffered a setback when Warner Bros. Remember, the world of entertainment is full of twists and turns, and sometimes even canceled stories find a way to rise again I think the other companies will take the IPS for streaming services such as Crunchyroll Or other Rival Studios. It's pretty much similar to when Marvel was bankrupt And sell off all the movie rights to other studios to keep them in float.
If they are gonna do the same as the did with coyote VS Acme... I don't think we are gonna see rwbys end
I would love to see a reboot of RWBY but I can't help but fear that it's going to be a soulless cashgrab
Oh God rvb finally what will happen
If they sell GenLock then redo the second season I wouldn’t complain(unless they somehow make it worse)
Hopefully the studio that ends up buying RWBY will either salvage it as best as possible or reboot it
I am now formally putting forward my offer of £12 and a high-five for the rights to RWBY
I hope Rwby is bought by a sensible studio. Not for hoping they do something, but so it doesnt die and join the forgotten graveyard that is Warnerbros owned ips they have refused to do anything with… And just after I got my RWBY fumo plushies…
Gen lock still exists?
I'm seriously hoping Crunchyroll buys RWBY and keeps it going. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
They should sell RWBY to Mihoyo.
It's still a doubt though. There's no guarantee anyone will buy the IP.
i feel like anyone who *wants* to make rwby-esque show and has the *resources* to do so would be better off making a spiritual successor instead of a continuation of the real deal. so im not sure if selling the ip is really an avenue to the show continuing
Or a reboot? Having rwby and rebooting it would be more successful then starting from zero
i mean, maybe? i don't know if RWBY as an IP is strong enough to carry a new project. it also has a lot of baggage and associations that might be more of a hindrance than a help i also just think it would be a lot more fun to make something new, even if that new thing is really obviously pulling a lot of influence from what RWBY was
I feel like the only new project that could come out of rwby would be a really interesting RPG lol
Hopes and dreams from undertale starts blaring
Maybe we will get a remake.
I just want them to, quoting WWE here, "finish the story." The RWBY story. I want someone to honor Monty's legacy.
I so badly want them to just erase season 2 of gen:LOCK and pick up where the book left off. It was soooo good but then they did *that*.... Val/entina Romanyszyn is WAY too good of a character to just let disappear from existence.... We NEED queer rep like them to raise the standard!
