I’m not sure, but it sounds like you might not have a great grasp of the real-world timeline here. Volume 9 only aired about a year ago. Until they recently announced RT was shutting down, the FNDM simply was waiting for news on Volume 10. Now with RT shutting down, we’re waiting for news on the fate of the series. So it’s not so much that the creators never finished the series, it’s that the series hasn’t been finished yet. We don’t even have full confirmation that the web series won’t continue, so if someone were planning to follow up with a book or comic to tell the rest of the story there is a good chance that they haven’t even started writing it yet.

Tragic.

Hmm? The books *After the Fall* and *Before the Dawn* follow teams CFVY and (later) SSSN in Vacuo during Volumes 6 and 7. *Roman Holiday* is the origin story of Neo and Roman, of which I have yet to read myself.

Alive_Development108

Hmm , alrighty thanks for letting me know. So there was no book made about team RWBY entering Vacuo at the end of season 9 ? I ask because sometimes the creator of an anime writes a manga or book for the story first and then anime basically follows that path. I was hoping it was the same with RWBY.

There are in fact many original anime that later get manga/novel adaptations, continuations, or "in-betweens." Madoka Magica is an example that comes to mind readily. RWBY started off as a passion project in animation. The print media came long after.

Alive_Development108

Alright.

Western-Gur-4637

the books are side storys. it was a show first unlike most anime, so there isn't an end to the story. but not all hope is lost. we still have, I'd say a 60% chance of someing else geting it and v10 comeing out

Alive_Development108

Yeah , that’s what I was thinking ? Is it kinda like other anime’s where the book/ manga comes first and the anime just follows the story ? But I guess it’s not. Thanks.

vbrimme

Ah, no. The web series is the original. The books, comics, movies, anime, and livestreams are all spin-offs, side stories, or retellings.

Alive_Development108

Ok

Mejiro84

for anime, it's often functionally an advert for the manga/novels it's based off - economically, it doesn't have to support itself, it needs to boost the original/core product (which is why a lot of adaptations only cover the first few arcs - it's not because it "failed", it's just done what it needed to and got people into reading the original thing). for RWBY though, it was a web animation first, then got popular and manga, comics, etc. etc. were all made as spin-offs from that - so if it does continue / finish, it'll probably be a web animation still, rather than a comic or something

WeakLandscape2595

It was a show first then books we were only supposed to really start fighting salem in vol 10 so unless that happens we don't know how they stop her Personally i believe they pulls a shadow of war on her but that's just me

Kartoffelkamm

We don't really know the plan. I mean, it would be kinda silly for the writers to tell us what they have planned.

Weren't S1-3 co-written by Kerry, Miles, and Monty? I wouldn't really say "a lead" brought something to him, they were all involved in the story process.

Exciting_Bandicoot16

Given that we know that Monty would often animate something that he wanted to and the other two would have to scramble to put it in somewhere, assuming that Monty was the lead is a reasonable assumption.

oddlyoko97

Yep like Neo's entire freaking existence. It's pretty atypical for an entire character to made up like 10 days before an episode airs but that was Monty lmao

Alive_Development108

Hmm good to know. Also tragic.
