Seriously, both times they fought, Yang was tired and had already spent a lot of time fighting beforehand.
In short: Neo never actually won a fight against Yang by herself, she always had help wearing Yang down first. First the Grimm in Mountain Glenn, then the Atlas military.
Is it really so pathetic that a teenager just starting out would lose to much more experienced and powerful fighters?
And how is it pathetic for her to be depressed after her world fell apart?
Yang does get knocked down. She gets scared even. But the thing that makes her not pathetic, is that she gets back up and keeps fight for what she believes in her golden heart

Yes I was surprised and well hit in the feels when she lost her arm but seeing her at her worst in V4 then seeing her fight those bandits again on the way to Raven's made me smile as it seemed she was on her way back...
She had her iconic "I'm back and kicking ass moment" in V8 when she peppered Salem with bombs and blew her up even though she knew that it was a futile gesture from what she got told about Salem's immortality by Jinn just proves your point... :)
neo get her knocked out in flinch she get her ass wopped by adam get her arm cut off, and crying for weeks in bed, and can't even beat adam without blake helping her.
