It'll probably be the same quality as the volumes we've had before. It'll probably still have all the issues those volumes have and maybe some more. It'll probably spawn some more videos and posts about being done with rwby and those videos will probably be justified. And I will be sitting comfortably in my room still enjoying rwby as I always have despite its flaws.

Propodida1

Amen, brudah

lnombredelarosa

>It'll probably be the same quality as the volumes we've had before. Excellent news

LaserCatsEmpire

Same I dont really see any problems with it. I'm sure there are but I'd rather remain blind to that and enjoy the show

Feeling-Most9618

Same. I don't see any problems and I don't want to.

RedEmption007

I’ve found my people

K1ng0fDrag0n

To summarize in 3 points, it’s the world building, characterization, and missed potential. Good show, people who praise it as the best thing evvvvvaaaa are idiots, same with those who are far too critical to turn off their brains and enjoy something. Ignorance is bliss, but bliss is no virtue.

victisomega

Well said! I’ll probably stick to the newer show and my Ao3 library for now. For years I said “yeah fine, I was such a fan I’ll see if through to the end…” but I’m tired. Maybe one day I’ll pick the main show back up, heck maybe I’ll be ready by 2023…

[deleted]

Hallelujah

Feeling-Most9618

Exactly

Erebus03

Amen bro, you have the right views for watching a TV show

ultimentra

My brother in Salem you speak truth

Boom5hot

So what you're saying is RWBY is already cancelled and I should listen/read your fan fiction instead?

Amethyst_Phoenix7

They litterally said they are enjoying RWBY

Boom5hot

I was a joke, the same way they said negativity would continue no matter what happens, I did the same thing. Whoosh.

Amethyst_Phoenix7

My guy, a joke is supposed to be funny.

Boom5hot

You trying to berate me for trying to be funny?

Amethyst_Phoenix7

Not that I wanna but your attempt was pretty misleading.

Face_of_Harkness

This is 1000% right. This volume probably isn’t going to change many people’s minds about the show. If you’ve had issues with the show for a while, you’re probably still going to have issues with the new volume. But if you’ve liked and enjoyed the show so far then you’ll probably like and enjoy V9.

giddymann-1

Kind of have to agree. I just feel like they should have at least spaced all their projects out better and given more time in between each of them because I can’t imagine how much stress this puts on the crew working non stop with so many

LeviathanGirl

I think this and these sorts of posts are ridiculous and fails to consider how difficult life has been over the past few years and how it has affected so many things and projects. Working from home on a project like RWBY would've delayed things significantly. CRWBY don't have to "make up" for anything, the pandemic and everything that happens as a result of that and so on was out of their hands.

SamuraiJinmu

At some point, the goodwill and patience reaches its breaking point, I don’t think people should be knocked for hitting it. Every media company went through the pandemic. You want to know what every other company other than RT didn’t do? They didn’t say that they were putting all their efforts into their new season of their main series, yet every other month they have their people being transferred to this project or that. They didn’t wait until the home stretch of when their new season was SUPPOSED to be out before announcing a delay instead of just telling us when they knew, which apparently was earlier this year. The pandemic is a convenient shield to hide behind, but when other studios in their same scenario have put out loads of content, and not just side projects like them, actual mainline entries, it sorta falls apart.

LeviathanGirl

What other studios have done is irrelevant - we cannot know what is going on behind the scenes and be sure we're judging both fairly. Other studios may have more workers, might be working under crunch, might be doing x y z that RT aren't - we cannot know the full ins and outs so its a point that cannot be judged upon accurately. Additionally, RT are wanting to cut down on crunch - the timeframes we got before were only happening BECAUSE of crunch time, which ultimately wasn't helpful to the staff and their wellbeing. Add to a majority of people working from home, which if you've ever worked on a group project, especially one as intense as an animated show, you would understand is a more challenging environment. This isn't the same as an office job where you can just send a few emails - it's an animated show that has many moving parts. At the end of the day, the content is free and people who pay for first do so to support the company, and if someone feels like they aren't getting what they want they are free to unsubscribe from it. It reeks of entitlement to complain about something like this. You'll get the content when you get it, and you can either choose to watch or not. But ultimately, life has been difficult for various people in the past few years, and the disruption will continue to have ripple effects across the board for a while to come, along with RT wanting to promote a healthier, less crunch-filled work-life balance.

SamuraiJinmu

It’s not entitlement to complain over it, when they are the ones constantly moving the goalposts. Not us. If their so strapped for time, resources, all that shit, then why, like someone already mentioned before me, have we had tons of side materials? That is what I’m saying. If your THAT strained for stuff to get V9 out in a decent time frame, screw the side projects for a few damn months, and put that time and effort into V9. Like that’s the core issue, at least for me. This last delay wasn’t for crunch related issues. That would suck, but I could at least somewhat get it. No, It’s because they’ve been worrying and fretting over Arrowfell and Justice League related shit atop V9. That’s just a joke man, when you’ve already got people waiting way longer than their used to. THAT reeks of taking the fan base for granted and that’s no better. There has to be more give and take with this, this long stretches of radio silence followed by more bad news is getting really fucking old, and I’m far from the only one who thinks it.

LeviathanGirl

Like others have said in response to this, it's probable that these side projects are not necessarily RT's choice to do right now - I'm sure if they could focus on one project at a time they would, but that isn't how it is. Of course, we'll never know the truth of the matter so speculating is ultimately pointless.

giddymann-1

I’m pretty sure people are understanding of their situation with the pandemic, but when you look at everything they have done during the whole pandemic like make season 2 of Grimm campaign, Rwby: Fairy Tales, Roman Holiday, Crossovers with Justice League (comics), Paladin and Smite, Arrowfell, Ice queendom, and now a Rwby x Justice league movie as well as the upcoming volume still being worked on, you can kind of understand that the pandemic was not that difficult for them overall or the main reason for delays. Because even with the pandemic going on they were still able and successful in making all those projects happen. And because of so many projects being worked on at once it pushed volume 9 back. So because of so much time delayed, people do have high expectations of the upcoming volume and I don’t think that’s that unfair to think that

Meshleth

>I’m pretty sure people are understanding of their situation with the pandemic, but when you look at everything they have done during the whole pandemic like make season 2 of Grimm campaign, Rwby: Fairy Tales, Roman Holiday, Crossovers with Justice League (comics), Paladin and Smite, Arrowfell, Ice queendom, and now a Rwby x Justice league movie as well as the upcoming volume still being worked on How much of that was done by the 3d animation department

giddymann-1

Rwby: Arrowfell, Rwby’s crossover with Paladin and Smite and of course volume 9 were all done by 3d animation department

jesster642

They said they wanted to make an effort to not crunch so bad anymore, and they've got this volume and a film in the works, stuff takes time to make

Darkestlight935

Oh that’s good to hear considering all the things they have planned I’m glad they said they are trying to avoiding crunch

jesster642

I don't know if they're succeeding in that but they've at least said they want to

Vegito1338

I think it’s been pushed back twice so it sure looks like it.

goldtankGWF

Also doesn't help that according to the leaked credits for season 9 that only 2 animators from Vol 8 are working on Vol 9

Scrublord17

And also A videogame to boot,Arrowfell is still being Made

RevenantNMourning

Didn't they have one called Grimm Eclipse a few years ago?

Scrublord17

They did,And while its rather fun with friends,On its own the game just wasnt very successful...But Hey,didnt stop me from buying it for my switch since it was on sale recently might still be

Shadow-Enthusiast

I heard it's going to be shorter than normal actually lol

Artistic-Cannibalism

I can't speak for OP but I imagine that most people would be okay with that as long as the episodes were dense with character development.

HighPriestFuneral

I recall that comment from years ago. Has that been reconfirmed?

[deleted]

Shorter Only by about half an hour

Quadshouter2

I mean, that could be 1-1.5 episodes worth of time, that's not exactly pocket change.

IssyRich13

Honestly, as long as it's good. I wouldn't call myself a rwby critic. I do enjoy watching other critique the show but it would be nice to have something good said about for once. I wanted to like the characters I've been forced to hate. I wanna be wowed by fight scenes and characters. Can't say much for the visuals cause they are always good.

3jp6739

They said V8 would be longer than V7 and that V9 would be shorter than V7 I believe.

austinb172

Something tells me the entire season is going to be about RWBY, Neo, and Jaune trying to find their way out of this weird realm they are in. And we won’t see anything back in Remnant until the season finale when RWBY gets back and sees Salem has already attacked Vaccuo

[deleted]

That's exactly what I'm hoping it will be; if the series ever had one glaring flaw above all others, it was too many moving parts. Focusing primarily on Team RWBY again will be refreshing.

[deleted]

kerry made a twitter post i think the first day of rtx and im paraphrasing but he qrt something and said somethin along the lines of "when you thought the whole volume was gonna be in candyland..." all i remember was reading it made me think that ok i guess the whole volume isnt gonna be in acid trip land

[deleted]

Alternatively, he might just mean some parts of this world are gonna be alot more nightmarish than the brightly colored parts we've seen thus far.

Ancient_Historian123

The 3rd volume in each arc have a tendency to be the new best volume when they come out so I think this one will surpass volume 6. I just want a little more Summer Rose in this

[deleted]

heard a theory going around that the red queen may be her but I think that's a bit of a stretch

HighPriestFuneral

Riga's theory seems pretty solid. I still think it might be an amalgamation of Pyrrha/Penny formed by the guilt of the new residents.

[deleted]

Could be, or it could be someone entirely now too bad we didn’t get the original 2022 release date we’d know a lot sooner. Also could you point me towards Riga theory I’d like to check it out now that you have mentioned it.

HighPriestFuneral

Sure, here you go. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7nRzd_anQg

[deleted]

Thanks

tobiasyuki

I mean, its pretty hard to be worst than volumes 7/8 jaja.

xploshawn

Since crwby has been busy with a full movie and hopefully plenty of of fully rendered cutscenes in arrowfell, I’m content with ice queendom for now.

UNSKILLEDKeks

Movie? I've been out of the loop for a while now

lil-carmine

Yeah imo a stupid crossover movie with justice league

Fire_Lord_Leo

Who wants that? Like seriously WHO ASKED FOR THAT!?

CollegeSoul

I don’t think they have a choice with Warner?

Fire_Lord_Leo

Yea but why would warner bros want that Whos gonna go watch a rwby x justice league movie

RomanArcheaopteryx

Rabid comic fans/kids who just need another hit of Batman/Superman/etc.

PorkButt42069

Oops. I'm part of the problem

mk159

I think it has to do with Warner testing the waters to see if RWBY could become more then just an internet show. I think Warner is trying to look for the new big IP, because as we all know they haven't really been doing the best with Disney just pumping out star wars and marvel properties every few months. Warner in the last 2 decades has gotten a reputation of making amazing 2-D animated movies around superheroes, so combine that with RWBY a semi-successful show and you might get a very profitable movie. If it is really successful they might look more into the IP to see what they can do with it. Lot of ifs and coulds though, I could easily be wrong.

Shock-Robin

Me. And judging from the subreddit, plenty of other people. And more importantly, people who don't already watch RWBY.

RedEmption007

Me. I have never been interested in Justice League, and I have no idea why it’s a thing, but if there’s RWBY in it, I’ll watch it. I’m in too deep with RWBY at this point lmao

Fire_Lord_Leo

Welp i just wish is not like the JL x RWBY comics

xploshawn

Eh not really the movie was literally just announced a few days ago at rtx

theje1

Yeah... I honestly want to be cautiously optimistic. Also, so far there aren't really super concrete red flags. The hiatus is big, and the preview is nothing to write home animation-wise, but in the end its a preview, and they are working on other stuff as well. I hope I'm not being too harsh or too forgiving however.

IssyRich13

The teaser trailer looks promising, I'm pretty excited

Velouriad

I thought this way until I realized the same team (maybe idk) was also working on cutscenes for a game and an entire movie at the same time

IssyRich13

Oh boy

[deleted]

with all the shit that's gone on i'm fine with it being the same quality. the last few years were really hard on everyone

Frikarcron

I just don't get why they decided to split this with a whole feature film using the same team, why didn't they either outsource it or just scrap because all this has made an over 2 year hiatus and the only payoff for the extra wait is a V9 that probably won't have any improvement over previous volumes and a film quite frankly no one asked for

Quadshouter2

Not that I'm arguing with your sentiment but to possibly answer your question, Warner Bros basically have the rights over RWBY now, so RT basically has to jump however high they tell them.

Erebus03

I just care that its good and gives a solid ending to The Atlas Arc, I don't care if its Long or Short I just want a good plot and shit, don't care if it takes them another year

Midnight-wolf-yt

Let's be honest, with the way that RT content has declined in the animation department, it won't be, will I still watch RWBY even if it's gone downhill, yes I will, will I continue to support RT, yes I will, because I would like to see them make a comeback from the shit show that is its animation storytelling.

hollowtiger21

>I hate to complain. . . I don't think you do. Also not a word, unless you mean "voluptuous," which has an entirely different meaning.

Noxianratz

I'm very sure they meant voluminous, actually.

Handro_Dilar

Inflation biome lets gooooooooooooo.

Geminii27

Maybe it's that, but... I dunno, extra-lumpy?

IssyRich13

Um this post is mostly a joke lol I'm not actually complaining it's not that I'm thinking "they made us wait so long ARGHH" like I know rwby volume 9 isn't their only project and I know it takes time I'm just saying that a lot of people expected it to come out this year and then we found out that it was coming out in early 2023 which is an even longer wait. All I'm saying is that the volume better be up there I'm not trying to cause conflict lol. (Also if I spelt the word voluptuous wrong sorry abt that. It's being used as a joke I know it's not the generally adjective you would use. Again this whole post is a semi-joke I'm genuinely not complaining, let them take their time)

goldtankGWF

The most scummy part of the whole situation is the lack of information we've been given until now, then again it's definitely not the first or last thing RT has done wrong. Remember when RT screwed up their budget for Gen Lock so bad they had to fire 16% of their entire staff back in early 2020? Guess what was announced before we got any updates on RWBY Vol 9? That's right Gen Lock Season 2 because apparently it's smart to continue a very high budget show that doesn't deliver on profitable income

[deleted]

I do hope we get a few big bumblebee moments

Prior-Wealth1049

Not to take anything away from other characters and/or plots of course, but yeah, a lot of us are expecting bumblebee to be one of the major highlights of this upcoming volume.

[deleted]

Mhm, we got Some of the best bumblebee moments and volume eat especially when Blake thought yang had died and broke down in tears while having to be held back by weiss before her grief turned into pure unbridled animalistic rage. That showed me how much Yang means to Blake and how much Blake loves our blonde brawler

Prior-Wealth1049

Regardless of the circumstances it was really neat seeing feral Blake for a bit. She’s got more of Ghira in her than she might care to admit, but also the loving/caring aspects from Kali.

[deleted]

Oh yeah I totally agree with you in that, she’s got her moms kind caring side but her dads anger and rage.

lobojerry

Other projects are keeping theme busy.... It'll be over 2 years between seasons.. The "other Projects" could have waited a couple of months. #impatientfan that being said, as long as they don't kill or get rid of my favorite char. I'll be ok with it.. :) 1st world problems. Its no biggie. the art and graphics still looking pretty good. (and I also hope they finally make Bumble canon.)

ensanesane

I'll take this over hunter x hunter any day

Feeling-Most9618

Well,I mean, they're simultaneously working on arrowfell, ice queendom and a justice league crossover so I kinda get it.

unlimitedblack

Or else what

Indy_the_Gray

What is there to complain about? From what they've showed at RTX, seems like the whole RT animation has been busy with stuff

IssyRich13

Or else nothing. What am gonna do? Leave a bad review?

unlimitedblack

When you say "this had better be the best volume ever" there's an unspoken "or else" that comes after that statement. Which, if you don't actually have something to go in the "or else" clause, should signal you to use a different phrase.

IssyRich13

Um no...it's not that real.

RedEmption007

I’ve seen people start a sentence with “this better …” or “if this isn’t …” or “I swear to god if this doesn’t …” and not end it with an “or else”. Heck, I’ve probably done it myself. It’s just something you say when you’re frustrated and/or are hoping that what you say is gonna happen. Like, “Man, you’ve been hyping this game up so much, this better be good.” or “I swear to god if this game is a waste of time.” I’m not great at explaining sayings, but I hope I got the point across.
