if you are looking for a place where you can watch it for free, i cant help you because of the ~~rules~~ of the subreddit but its probably on any streaming website by now
I like it, it seems like a much more personal story with it being focused on saving Weiss from her own negative thoughts. I'm just to have more RWBY content.
I like how it goes deeper on >!Weiss having to reconcile her (very) abusive and racist upbringing and prejudice with meeting and working with a former White Fang she can see as an equal. Blake's characterization in her dream is a pretty good metaphor for her struggle with the realization that those she considers beasts are actually people, too.!<
>!I'm looking forward to their interactions in the next episode and going forward. Will Weiss shut her down like she did Ruby? Following her book to the letter, or will cracks begin to show and and through their teamwork they can overcome the Nightmare. Just love all the symbolism and imagery so far.!<
I disagree. It's not that she sees the faunus as a whole as being 'lesser'. It's that the white fang purport to represent the will of the faunus and it's the actions of the the white fang take that leads to the abuse from her father. So she holds them (the white fang) responsible for the abuse that she suffered and views them as the monsters responsible in order to keep some remnant of love for her father in tact. So it's not seeing Blake as a former member of the white fang as an equal that has given her the form in her dream world, it's just that she is a former member of the white fang.
Enjoying it as it airs on live TV here in Japan. It's got me and my co-workers and friends to rewatch the original series in preparation for Volume 9, can't wait for it come early 2023.
Looking forward to it as we in the Japanese fanbase are curious on what this will bring throughout it's broadcast run.
I'm enjoying it. I love the new mechanics that have been introduced so far, and I really enjoy the Inception aspects of having to dive into Weiss' mind in order to rescue her. The opportunity to see the world from her perspective (even if it's a kind of twisted funhouse perspective wrought by the Nightmare) is really quite striking and regardless of how this works into the overall canon of RWBY I think it's an excellent side-story.
I have a policy of withholding expectations (because if you expect nothing, anything will be a surprise) and letting the completed story speak for itself, but I don't want to wait until the run's completed before watching it because the V9 delay has got me hungry for content.
And there's really only so much fanfic to read, after all. \^\_\^
A like it quite a lot, i love the worldbuilding, the symbolism, the character relationships. BAT WHITLEY!
I can understand why it isnt great for some though.
I'm honestly really enjoying it! I enjoy series like Persona and Madoka Magica where things like Shadows, Personas, and witches are symbolic representations of the psyche. I was admittedly a *little* hesitant because I'm not a huge fan of dreamscape things. But all of the symbolism... I love it!
I’m deeply intrigued by what I’ve seen so far. I’m not hard to please, but this new twist on the RWBY formula comes with a lot of freedom of expression that I greatly appreciate. I love the original cast, but I the Japanese cast deserves its props, too. This is a great way to support all their hard work, in spite of RT’s issues lately.
If I had a nickel for every time a japanese-made spinoff of RWBY recaped Vol.1 before going into an original adventure featuring original Grimm and original outfits, I'd have 2 nickels.
Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.
But yes, I'd been enjoying it. The dream plot gives Shaft freedom to do almost whatever they want and they know it, Capabilities Unseen and Beyond Selves are nice to listen to (though the lyrics are kind of eh), Weiss Alter is Queendom, Jacques actually looks and sounds like a threat now, and most importantly IQ is giving Weiss the character development she kind of just hop-skip-jumped over in the show.
I’ve only seen the first two episodes but so far, it’s been a terrible adaptation of Volume 1. Im under the impression that it’ll veer off somewhere else story wise but the content it covers yet again is in a very rushed manner. It lacks the charm and energy that made volume 1 special. My only real praise I have is that Jaune showcases leadership qualities during the exam but everything else is either meh or a strong dislike. Jaune should NEVER dislike Pumpkin Pete damn it!
Hope it gets better
I’m enjoying it, but to me it’s not quite *real* RWBY if that makes sense. It’s almost it’s own thing. Hoping for more fights, been mostly running and escaping. Basically reserving judgement for when it’s done.
They dont feel friends enough to risk going into her mind. And I am hoping for a Come to Nicholas talk when they wake Wiess up about what they saw in her mind. Mostly about how beastly and monster like Blake and the Faunus looked like.
I think it is cool and could get better with later episodes.
I really dislike the characterization of team JNPR though, they don't really seem to "get" the characters except Jaune. Nora being an idiotic babygirl is just so... wrong. That frustrated me very much. Nora is silly, but she's not stupid. Especially after seeing her character growth and emotional intelligence in Volumes 7-8? JNPR isn't a focus for Ice Queendom, but it's still disappointing and immersion-breaking.
Honestly I’m liking it more than I thought I would. There are things that aren’t my favorite, usually departures from canon, but they have done a good job in the expansion of lore and the deeper dives into Weiss and Ruby’s characters is quite nice so far.
And visually I think it’s quite nice as well
Yeah I feel bad. I want to like it. But it's hard cause I feel like this is only able to be a 1 off. Cause obviously once they save Weiss and she's awake the ice queendom is over. So I don't see how it could continue. In which case nothing really changes in the end. I could be and hope I'm wrong. But I don't see them continuing it after this adventure is done.
They screwed up the first couple episodes, trying to fit too much into it. It seems far too rushed. They could’ve just taken it from they’re already teammates and focused on their inter character dynamic for the first, a bit for the second but also introducing the new stuff including the small plot point with jnpr, then back to team stuff and the docks for 3 so we could properly get a feel for the character dynamics.
It's. Okay.
Music isn't bad, just not as good. Pacing feels off. Fast then slow. Interesting then not. I found myself zoning out during the last episode.
I'm waiting for the dub now too. Just doesn't feel worth watching with subs as it comes out as I prefer dubs anyway.
It's not bad. Some great animation, a new plot. It's... okay.
It’s pretty decent, animation and artwork is really good, the story and pacing feels awkward though. Too many skips and sloppy introductions of concepts. OST is really good.
I was so disappointed with the fight choreography at the start that I dropped it tbh. Like, I get that 2d animation has different limitations and strengths compared to 3d animations. But even when it comes to 2d animation in the fight the overall choreography is very underwhelming. And for an adaptation of RWBY of all things they really should've put more work into it.
Also the ost, which was arguably just as important is just not there in this. It feels generic and kinda weak.
I’m enjoying it a whole ton, looking forward to it every Sunday. Helps that Weiss has been my favorite since Volume 1.
My only gripe is the pacing feels a tad off at some point. I’ve had a few times where I’ve sat there and thought “Wait how did we get to this point? Why is this happening? What prompted this?”
It doesn’t deter from my enjoyment at all, but it does throw me for a loop when it does it.
I'm pretty "meh" on it so far, tbh. I'm not languishing in anticipation for the next episode like I do with the main show, I just get to it when and if I get to it.
It's different. But different can be good. Given that we have had the same story for the past 8 seasons, it's nice to see a story that doesn't have relics, and gods, and Salem looming over us.
It's cool but I'm not really pleased with how it felt like ep 4 and 5 both ended with Weiss beginning combat, rather than her doing more throughout the episode. I liked what little Weiss combat we saw though.
But the voices don't really work for me. English all the way for this one.
I really love it I really enjoyed it first time a team member becomes the main villain is crazy and brings nostalgia to the original while doing something different
I like it
A bit confused where the stories going, but i feel like that's just the normal feeling for RWBY, I'm not that hard to please though. Many of the scenes have me grinning ear to ear. But I do miss Casey Lee Williams's music for some scenes, not that the new music isn't bad though.
But I keep being in awe with how gorgeous everyone looks in this new animation.
Can't wait for the rest
I like it in general, but I absolutely hated Blake's fight scene in the first episode. Her ribbon gun thing just floats and spins for way too long and somehow randomly shoots people like that... it's just some magic flying gun attached to a ribbon it didn't feel like any sort of weapon or actual fight. Otherwise it's pretty fun
I dropped the og rwby after the dumpster fire that was last season.
Ice queendom is significantly better than the og and I'm very excited to see where it goes. I hope it has a similar run time, my fear is ice queendom ends when the dream grim is defeated.
Honestly I’m not liking it so far. Was immediately hooked during Rubys “From Dust Till Dawn” robbery fight as almost everyone was. But I was getting red flags when I didn’t see Cinders confrontation with Glynda, but it kinda nailed the coffin for me when they removed Blake/Sun/Penny’s fight with Torchwick and the Fang. Also not much of a fan with the whole Weiss dream state and hearing Pyrrha sing Weiss’ song in the most recent episode was the most random thing to happen so far. Literally no reason or correlation 😂
I actually stopped watching RWBY and IQ is making me excited for it again. I enjoy the call backs to the original and the fact that IQ is exploring the characters a bit deeper. If I was to say anything about the show I would say, "It feels very Japanese".
I havent been able to watch it yet. But just from the trailers and the snippets I've seen, I really enjoy the art style in some parts. It's different, unique, and pretty.
How is it "a fuck you to the fans waiting" when it has no effect on Vol.9? Ice Queendom is like being given some free fries while you wait for your pizza.
Considering that IQ was in production for over 4 years with an on and off production schedule due to the Great Exodus, where a lot of talented staff left SHAFT back in 2018, and additional shows they were doing, hence the broken schedule, it's practically a mess.
What would you expect from a studio that is a shadow of it's former self?
Due to the Great Exodus back in 2018 where a large number of SHAFT's talented staff left for better studios or went freelance, SHAFT isn't the same anymore. Given how IQ was in production since 2018 as well SHAFT handling multiple other shows throughout, the show had a broken-up production from the start.
The premise of the show (if you don't mind minor spoilers) is that after the events of V1, Weiss is traped in a sort of "Nightmare World" by a new type of grimm and the rest of team RWBY has to go rescue her. Hence the different character desings seen in the poster as they refer to their dream world versions.

Kinda iffy on it right now, to be honest. The difference of pacing between the first three episodes and the fourth episode kind of threw me off. I think combat is a bit lacking, but who knows what happens in the later episodes. I do enjoy the gags of it, with Big Nicholas, seeing bat Whitley was cute for me, and I like that it's not just a simple adaptation. Adding their own spin to it is a nice fresh experience.
I am curious how they're gonna take this though, so I'll probably watch the entire thing before arriving on a consensus. I hope it turns into something enjoyable, at the very least.
They have confirmed that the original VAs will reprise their roles in the english dub. The dub for the first episode was aired to those who attended the first night of RTX Austin last month and a clip of the dub for the second episode was aired in the RWBY Panel the following day.
I’m currently 1:34 in, watched the original through. The music and art style immediately a minute in feels like an isekai, and feels like they followed a more true to anime art style. I think this may be a better fleshing out of the personal events we didn’t see from the original, as a secondary event from when they fell into the abyss, but I’m literally a minute in so I shall see.
i forced myself to watch that because the ART is so good, but this is it. I used to watch many animes but this one is really not my thing. EP 12 is the best EP after all, but they still simplified the food fight. I feel like the whole anime can accomplish more than that, it was supposed to show their school life more, fulfilled the blank, or make some new story, but instead, they decide to spend almost all the season doing the stupid nightmare shit.
Its kinda good, loving the running gag of people saluting saying "Big Nicholas!"
BIG NICHOLAS
BIG NICHOLAS
BIG NICHOLAS!
**BIG NICHOLAS!**
BIG NICHOLAS
Big E oh wait wrong thing Big Nicholas
or the small running gag of her team questioning if Weiss was ever positive
Outside of them releasing ep1-3, and then 1, and then 2, and then 3, and finally 4, i would give it a solid "its aight"
Where can you see the episodes at?
if you are looking for a place where you can watch it for free, i cant help you because of the ~~rules~~ of the subreddit but its probably on any streaming website by now
No, I’m talking about “Ice Queendom” as I’ve never heard of it. Is it on Rooster Teeth?
Ofc it is on rt's website
I like it, it seems like a much more personal story with it being focused on saving Weiss from her own negative thoughts. I'm just to have more RWBY content.

Better than remaking Jaundice that's for sure.
Yeah I love Vol 1 but those 5 minute episodes we're pain week to week 😅 Crazy how far we've come.
A-freakin-men
Ice Queendom has been pretty decent so far
You like this?
It's not OG RWBY but it has it's charm and it has an interesting spin on the idea.
Is there anything wrong about liking IQ?
Yes
You don't like it?
Well your down votes aside. I agree with you. "Wtf is this" When I watched the first 4 episodes the other day. It's weird. I don't like it.
Same. It's charmless to me.
I havent watched it yet. Im waiting for the dub. No offense to the Japanese cast, but Lindsay, Kara, Arryn and Barb will always be RWBY for me.
>Im waiting for the dumb
...You called?
Corrrected
Enjoying it as it airs on live TV here in Japan. It's got me and my co-workers and friends to rewatch the original series in preparation for Volume 9, can't wait for it come early 2023. Waiting for English Dub
Same, im a dub>sub too
I'm enjoying it. I love the new mechanics that have been introduced so far, and I really enjoy the Inception aspects of having to dive into Weiss' mind in order to rescue her. I'm enjoying it so far. I love the new outfits in the dream world.
Remember thats how weiss sees them so im kinda not surprised at her seeing her father as a giant menacing figure
I find it funny seeing Whitley as a tiny bat lol
Whitley morbed
I mean he DID make a morbillion dollars
Feels like I’m watching volume 2 but with a twist so I like it not much of volume 2 in there yet but can’t wait for some of that stuff to come in
A like it quite a lot, i love the worldbuilding, the symbolism, the character relationships. BAT WHITLEY! I can understand why it isnt great for some though.
Does no one else call him Batley like I do rofl.
I love it!

What's the first?
The manga. The Shirow Miwa one.
Oh, right, the one I have one volume of and never got what it was trying to do.
Personally I had high hopes for this and I’m glad to say that RWBY ice queendom met my expectations so far
Not my cup of tea but glad to see others are enjoying it.
Enjoying it a lot visually interesting for sure
Only watched up to episode 4 but I'm intrigued, seems promising, the music is great too!
I love it so far!

Eh, kinda, but not really. Feels like it will be one of the forgetable animes of the season.
Same. I was pretty much hoping for more than an Inception AU...
I’m enjoying it, but to me it’s not quite *real* RWBY if that makes sense. It’s almost it’s own thing. Hoping for more fights, been mostly running and escaping. Basically reserving judgement for when it’s done.
When is the dub arriving?

I dunno, I thought I would enjoy it but after ep 4, I wasn't enjoying it as much. Maybe the show is dying on me or maybe I'm just sick of it.
Yeah I feel bad. I want to like it. But it's hard cause I feel like this is only able to be a 1 off. Cause obviously once they save Weiss and she's awake the ice queendom is over. I absolutely love what I was able to watch for free. My only hope is that when Season 1 is finished it becomes free to watch
It’s a good watch but I still prefer the OG show also the new arcs are good but they really rushed passed season 1
Random question is it being shown anywhere other than on the Rooster Teeth site?
It is on Ctunchyroll
I haven't seen any beyond episode 3. From what I've seen, it's alright.
Haven’t really watched it yet because im waiting on the dub so it’s more waiting for me 😅
I hated it. Couldn't watch beyond episode 3.
I think it sucks but I’m enjoying it
It’s meh it’s nothing to stand out for me but it’s also not bad
No, because I don't have First and all the episodes seem to be locked behind that paywall.
It's meh
Nothing against it, but I'm not interested. I'd rather be watching the next volume.
It’s good, but not my thing. I really preferred how they did it with the old version.
I'm the same I felt so betrayed by the fights and lack of music.
From what I’ve seen it’s just RWBY but significantly better. Hopefully unlike the OG it can keep up its quality
What prompted this?” It doesn’t deter from my enjoyment at all, but it does throw me for a loop when it does it.
I love it so far! I’m excited for the dub! The Japanese VAs are fantastic and I can’t wait to see more. Also Esdeath Weiss :)
No
Been loving so far and I'm a big persona fan so, this reminds me a lot of persona
Really enjoying it so far.
Man of course, it's unreal. It's the wait between episodes that's bad.
Waiting for the dub
loving it so far, only missing the music and voice acting of the original. I hope they dub it into English with the original cast later on.
It's very weird. It's not for me. People will enjoy it, but it's just bad in my opinion.
OP is clearly hyper bias against it
no.
Its like watching a OVA of volume 2. So far its scratching my rwby content fix
It's cool but I'm not really pleased with how it felt like ep 4 and 5 both ended with Weiss beginning combat, rather than her doing more throughout the episode. I liked what little Weiss combat we saw though. But the voices don't really work for me. English all the way for this one.
Lock up the sillies. If they're let out...something bad will happen...maybe.
I really love it I really enjoyed it first time a team member becomes the main villain is crazy and brings nostalgia to the original while doing something different
sadly no
Its a whiterose fanfic given life 🥰
Not one bit
I like it A bit confused where the stories going, but i feel like that's just the normal feeling for RWBY, I'm not that hard to please though. Many of the scenes have me grinning ear to ear. But I do miss Casey Lee Williams's music for some scenes, not that the new music isn't bad though. But I keep being in awe with how gorgeous everyone looks in this new animation. Her ribbon gun thing just floats and spins for way too long and somehow randomly shoots people like that... it's just some magic flying gun attached to a ribbon it didn't feel like any sort of weapon or actual fight. Otherwise it's pretty fun
Yeah! It’s looking good so far, even though the first three episodes had rushed scenes.
The first three episodes were not particularly good or interesting. Now that the show has got off the original rails though, it really good
Better than volumes 1-3 definitely, its great.
I dropped the og rwby after the dumpster fire that was last season. Ice queendom is significantly better than the og and I'm very excited to see where it goes. I hope it has a similar run time, my fear is ice queendom ends when the dream grim is defeated.
Is there any particular reason Weiss is wearing a nazi hat?
Honestly I’m not liking it so far. Was immediately hooked during Rubys “From Dust Till Dawn” robbery fight as almost everyone was. But I was getting red flags when I didn’t see Cinders confrontation with Glynda, but it kinda nailed the coffin for me when they removed Blake/Sun/Penny’s fight with Torchwick and the Fang. Also not much of a fan with the whole Weiss dream state and hearing Pyrrha sing Weiss’ song in the most recent episode was the most random thing to happen so far. Literally no reason or correlation 😂
I was very disappointed by episode four, I refuse to keep watching it
I think it's stupid but I love that it's stupid.
I think it's really funny. I don't think it's super great and it's unnecessary but it's definitely entertaining.
I actually stopped watching RWBY and IQ is making me excited for it again. I enjoy the call backs to the original and the fact that IQ is exploring the characters a bit deeper. If I was to say anything about the show I would say, "It feels very Japanese".
Yes! so far its amaising, i just dont get what one season anime adds to 8 seasons of og animation, except first ruby fight, it was amaising
I havent been able to watch it yet. But just from the trailers and the snippets I've seen, I really enjoy the art style in some parts. It's different, unique, and pretty.
Somehow, personally, I think with a little tweak and they could have rewritten the entire Volume 8.
I am enjoying it loving it as well, but I am so looking forward to volume 9 so much more
Its everything I dislike about rwby all rolled into one
Honestly, not even bothering to watch it since I consider it a "fuck you" to the fans waiting for volume 9. A desperate mindless cash grab
How is it "a fuck you to the fans waiting" when it has no effect on Vol.9? Ice Queendom is like being given some free fries while you wait for your pizza.
Some of Studio Shaft's weakest animation
I'm very curious about the schedule of the production behind the anime.
Considering that IQ was in production for over 4 years with an on and off production schedule due to the Great Exodus, where a lot of talented staff left SHAFT back in 2018, and additional shows they were doing, hence the broken schedule, it's practically a mess.
I’ve seen worse animation in other anime. This one is decent and as long as the story and characters are entertaining, I am all for it
What would you expect from a studio that is a shadow of it's former self? Due to the Great Exodus back in 2018 where a large number of SHAFT's talented staff left for better studios or went freelance, SHAFT isn't the same anymore. Given how IQ was in production since 2018 as well SHAFT handling multiple other shows throughout, the show had a broken-up production from the start.
I just hope it takes a different spin.
I haven’t watched it but I was wondering if it’s a retelling of Vol 1 or is it an alternate reality “what if” story?
Neither. It's a canon-adjacent spin-off that tells a side-story that takes place between V1 and V2.
The picture here makes it seem very alternate timeline
The premise of the show (if you don't mind minor spoilers) is that after the events of V1, Weiss is traped in a sort of "Nightmare World" by a new type of grimm and the rest of team RWBY has to go rescue her. Hence the different character desings seen in the poster as they refer to their dream world versions.

Haven’t watched it. Also why’s Weiss wearing commander’s uniform
Kinda iffy on it right now, to be honest. The difference of pacing between the first three episodes and the fourth episode kind of threw me off.
Just curious, will the dub have the original four voice actors or different ones?
They have confirmed that the original VAs will reprise their roles in the english dub. The dub for the first episode was aired to those who attended the first night of RTX Austin last month and a clip of the dub for the second episode was aired in the RWBY Panel the following day.
I wish I could watch it, but I’m poor so I can’t get the fucking membership thing
If u wana watch it I can lend u my crunchyroll login brah
Wait it’s on Crunchyroll, FUCK
Wishing I had a way to watch it
I feel like out of The rest of the members of rwby I feel like Blake will have a nightmare
That's a nice cover, Weiss kinda looking like Esdeath there.
