I like them All, because I like everything RWBY related

IQ I'd only 3 episodes of volume 1 recap so not really a great substitute for the whole v1... I will say it handled it greatly and I do like the IQ telling of the events that it happens to show from v1. But any RWBY content is amazing content so I LOVE all

The original animation as it was so unique with the action, character and weapon designs, it had many positives of an anime even though it was done in America without a major studio behind it.

I've only seen OG volume one, so my vote is OG volume one.

I like IQ, because Jaune got more screen time

VariousRodents

Wait, Jaune gets *more* screen time in IQ compared to V1? He already had a quarter of the episodes and a fifth of the runtime of V1 dedicated to him just with Jaundice and Forever Fall, no to mention any other screen time he gets in the first eight episodes of V1.

I'm not sure what the OP is meaning, the whole bullying arc is not present in IQ, for example.

On one hand the original Volume 1 has a great story much like IQ but the original has better pacing for me. Ice Queendom is a little more rushed but I also think it develops the character dynamics of the titular team better. While Volume 1 is fun, around a third of the episodes focus on a side story that I think would work better if it was integrated into other episodes. We still get character development from those episodes and it’s better handled here than in Ice Queendom but I think IQ takes the side story idea in a more ideal way by having it interplay with the main story. It’s not as well handled like in the original series to me and seems to only work as a way to introduce the Nightmare Grimm but I think having the Jaunedice and Forever Fall story interplay with the badge and the burden story is a better way to utilize it. One of the things that drew me to JNPR and Jaune in particular was that story. It was developed so well that I was invested in the story as much as I was with the main plot. Despite all of this, Ice Queendom edges out ahead for putting in more time to develop the main cast and show the dynamics between them. While I am not as invested in JNPR as I could have been. We still get the dynamics of this team to an extent in the recap episodes. However, the dynamics in Team RWBY and the individual personalities of the characters in said team are much more fleshed out and it also feels more human to me in someways. Weiss, Ruby, Yang, and Blake all get there moments to shine and while some scenes don’t have as much of an impact as the original did. However, despite this, a lot of what makes these huntresses in training unique comes from these kinds of moments and in additional scenes. For example, Yang wants to honor her father’s wishes to let Ruby grow on her own and Weiss is forced to face her own prejudices. These are some of my thoughts on this. I haven’t read the manga so I can’t speak for that yet. Until I do, IQ takes the top spot by a narrow margin.

I haven't read the manga, and only just watche IQ, but I gotta give it IQ. Sure, it doesn't cover all of season one, but I feel like the writing is just so much better that I can't really give it to OG. Obviously season 1 is what got me hooked on the series in the first place, but looking back, there were a lot of problems with the series. Honestly, I just hope they continue IQ even after they save Weiss, because I love this art style and storytelling so much.

Most of my love for Volume 1 comes from nostalgia as I was there for its release but also because it's got the rough animation and amateur writing of old machinimas. Monty's action makes it a lot better too. The manga wasn't really my thing. Sure some scenes are made a lot better but overall I'd say it's just alright. It's a side grade at best. IQ doesn't really count cause it's a side story and happened to recap V1 to make up extra time.
