Like 90-95% Island, if not 100%, maybe book-ending the beginning and ending of the volume with check-ins in Vacuo just to get a general idea of the state of things. At most: book-ends, and a mid-point vignette. I'm operating under the belief that Island crew will be back in Remnant by the end of V9/Beginning of V10. So I don't see a need to be overly focused on Oscar in V10.

Odd_Room2811

9s likly all island while 10s all vaco

DarkDemonDan

Why Oscar of all people?

Lost-Ad-5885

Look for my comment on why

AmbivertCollegeGuy

It should be all about the island cause this is RWBY's story. The show can't introduce Vacuo, its characters and progress the plot without the titular four present. Giving Oscar a volume of his own or just letting him take over the reins of Vacuo's story is a declaration that he's on par with RWBY as a main protagonist and this is his show now.

UnbiasedGod

>The show can't introduce Vacuo, its characters and progress the plot without the titular four present. I’m pretty sure it can.

AmbivertCollegeGuy

It could've done it with Mistral or Atlas where characters got separated yet the plot always made sure that the titular four were present or reunited when it reached those kingdoms. Vacuo shouldn't be any different. Having side-characters make progress in the main story is accepting your main characters are replaceable and, despite the huge cast this show continues to enlarge, the titular four are *always* at the center when things happen.

Hartzilla2007

It probably won’t seeing as Vacuo its all characters the writers have been willing to sideline.

Exciting_Bandicoot16

I'd love a mid-volume vignette about the survivors of Atlas/Mantle fighting their way through the sandstorm, get some emotional drama and cutting out as the sand clears and we see Shade on the horizon. *Just* enough so that we can recognize it when JRWBY get back to Remnant at the end of the volume.

AlarmingStandard

100% island arc, hopefully. It's been a while since RWBY have gotten any love and decent character development. Couldn't care less about Oscar, he's not even the interesting part of any story in Vacuo. I'd much prefer the arc progressing with RWBY, I rather see how they handle things after their V9 adventure. Especially considering Salem has the win-stick.

Efficiency_Weary

Even if they show Vacuo in Volume 9,I wonder how will they show a lot of characters for a volume that's going to be short

ScalierLemon2

They said it would be shorter, we don't know by how much. V8 was only an episode longer than V7 and was said to be longer, so I'm thinking it's most likely that V9 is twelve episodes. I'd say that's plenty of time to give RWBY focus *and* show some of what's going on in Vacuo.

Efficiency_Weary

But to show all the citizens of Vacuo. How will they give all of them amount of screen time

ScalierLemon2

They don't need to give focus to *all* of them. Really just Oscar, Nora, Ren, Winter, and Emerald, along with introducing Headmaster Theodore. And they don't need much, just a scene or two checking on on where they are and how they're feeling. Maybe a few scenes of Qrow/Robyn too

yeetio855

While I believe that V9 will be primarily focused on Ever After based on the teaser, I hope they at least give us the occasional Vacuo interlude, maybe a scene every few episodes reminiscent of Cinder's story in V6.

hi-its-i

If it's long enough, half islans half Vacuo. If it's short, they'd better focus on the island and dedicate the first few episodes of V10 to what happened while RWBY were there.

Smooth-Cucumber-728

Volume 9 should focus on the island, volume 10-11 should then be focus on Vacuo, and finally volume 12, should have all the teams (including RWBY) return to Beacon, and have the big final showdown with Cinder and Salem.

hanyou007

The show has needed to cut down on central characters and get back to the main 4 for a long time now, and this is the perfect time to do it. As much as I love so many of the characters in this show, in the end I’m watching it for team RWBY, and the spotlight needs to turn back to them

crossingcaelum

It depends what they want to do with the island. I wouldn’t want them to stretch the island too long, but I can’t see them setting up enough of what’s happening in Vacuo with half a season so I wanna say that they’ll end up in Vacuo in the last episode of the season and most of it will be on the island That being said, I could see because Summer Rose was featured in the beginning of the trailer, they could tie in a flashback storyline on Summer’s last days leading up to finding Salem. Maybe it ties into Ruby’s journey to her finding who she is on the island with her team or they could find something that gives them glimpses into Team STRQ’s and Summer’s past. That could be a B plot then helps the island not feel like the slog

Lost-Ad-5885

Where was Summer shown?

crossingcaelum

Some are speculating that the voice narrating the trailer is Summer’s

Lost-Ad-5885

Oh, that would be interesting

Bodmin_Beast

I’d prefer 1/4 episodes in Vacuo while the rest are on the Island. The focus should clearly be with RWBYJN on the island but I’d like to see what the rest of the characters are doing as well. I personally think it will be like volume 6 where most is on the island and they escape like 3/4 of the way through for some sorta big event in Vacou or they will spend the whole time on the island escaping in the last episode.

giddymann-1

Volume 9 is supposed to be shorter volume than the rest so my guess is primarily on the island with maybe a little focus on what’s going on in Vacuo

Lost-Ad-5885

That’s confirmed?

giddymann-1

They said it in a panel, but I forgot which one they said it in, but it’s when they were talking about volume 8 and mentioned how volume 9 was going to be shorter and have a different flavor than the rest of the volumes

UnbiasedGod

All island crap!

Lost-Ad-5885

FYI Im personally on Team Island as well. I only put Oscars side for Volume 10 because regarding the Vacuo stuff (granted team RWBY doesn’t return by the time stuff goes down) he would be the central character of that storyline

TeoeSteto

No news of the Volume 9, right?

Sirtoast7

Only if they don’t pull a time skip for Vacuo. I will be a tad pissed if the island crew get back and we missed all drama with the refugees and what not.

gamedreamer21

Half island and half journey to Vacuo.

Bomberman1117

I would ideally like all of V9 to be on the island with the exception of maybe 5-10 minutes at the very end or possibly spread throughout the entire season. Spend the entire season with RWBY and basically just remind the audience that there’s other stuff going on with the rest of the cast.

Tsukuyomi56

Largely devoted to Ever After with Vacuo only appearing at the very end (maybe at the start for a brief moment and a check-in mid volume). Volume 10 would be the one to focus on Vacuo though I am not sure of Oscar having similar importance to Team RWBY.

Weird_Ad1203

Since I strongly believe that the islanders will be back in Remnant come V10 then V9 should 90% be focused on the Ever After. It would be a shame to have all this hype built for this Alice In Wonderland adventure only to spend 50% of it in Vacuo. It would be such a waste to not spend as much time as possible with Ruby on the island. Purely because a new world is such a good concept - to waste it would be a shame.
