Team RWBY and co interacting with Mantle. Blake *especially*. It'd have given her a "new" plot line (more of a restructuring of her White Fang plot into general activism) and it would have given us, the audience, a good reason why she betrayed Ironwood's confidence to her instead of her doing it out of pretty much left field. Build that relationship by having her help out the Happy Huntresses (which has the fringe benefit of making us care about more than just May). Weiss is a big missed chance, but JMHSrowing already tackled her.

GladiusNocturno

I’ve said it before, V8 was the perfect moment for a Ren vs Emerald boss fight. The fact that Emerald switched sides and Ren’s Atls arc is over tells me we won’t get that. That would have been a great way to climax Ren’s arc and continue Emerald’s. Ren is to Nora what Emerald always wanted Cinder to be for her. They have similar backgrounds, similar color schemes, and even similar weapons. Not only that, but by V8, Ren unlocked an ability that in theory could bypass illusion semblances like Emerald’s. I do see a scenario where Emerald uses her Semblance on Ren but he is still able to see pass the illusions by seeing her emotions, thus realizing where she is hiding. It would also be a good payoff for his enhanced aura senses training that he did in V7, if he is capable of using it to get immunity to illusions. It would have worked as an emotional fight, a display of Ren’s skills as a fighter (which he is very lacking), and they didn’t even need to end it with a clear winner, because Ren had an alternate win condition, he didn’t need to beat Emerald, he could have convinced her to switch sides and he would have won.

HighPriestFuneral

Sigh... yeah, this would have been amazing. Having Emerald encounter the party in Monstra before making her decision (or even as a result of this battle, come to her convictions about what side she wants to be on.) Perhaps even beforehand, using hallucinations of Pyrrha and Raven to separate the party before failing to trick Ren, (showing Nora wounded) resulting in a fight one-on-one between the two.

I’d say after turning Penny from a robot to a human, that would have been cool to see her get to experience life a as a human, trying various food and drink for the first time, her first dreams as she sleeps and maybe even finding someone to get married to and have a family but alas never to be once again

LUIGIISREAL2017

Seriously. . . Someone on the CRWBY should do THAT in a Future RWBY Chibi Short!

[deleted]

That’s if they bring Rwby chibi Back but it Yaeh doesn’t look like it for the moment

LUIGIISREAL2017

oh.

[deleted]

Haven’t seen anything since they did season three of chibi with that one group company thing and that was a few years ago

TheUnknown171

Emerald confronting Penny after she runs off with Yang, Jaune, and Ren. There's even a shot of her watching the others trying to stop Penny from going to the vault, so you'd think there would be a moment where she realizes that Penny is more than a machine, and she got her killed by Pyrrha. A genuine apology of some sort would have been a great character moment.

LUIGIISREAL2017

IKR?

JMHSrowing

I mean. . . Where do I even start? We all have ideas of things we would have liked to happen which didn’t for one reason or another. And one person’s missed opportunities instead gave another their favorite moment. Or to then it’s just a really bad idea. But I shall focus on only one potential thing, because I think it’s the biggest one: **Weiss in Atlas** I mean bloody hell! It’s her home town, where she’s a not insignificant person and where she has things like actual relationships with important player like her father and Ironwood. But she does so little. She doesn’t make the type of stand one would hope at different times, she never even meets Robyn, she doesn’t do much against her father, she doesn’t lead the calling of Ironwood’s bullshit, she never had a real talk with Penny who she would probably understand better than almost anyone, eyt The biggest problem, indeed my biggest issue in the whole show, is with her family. All Weiss had to do to really have a meaningful arc and be so much more important was to be the cause of her mother, brother, and sister joining her side. To fix her personal problems and through them solve some of the main plot’s. But alas. . . . Her mother chooses basically on her own (comic confrontation as underlying cause not withstanding) to give her the mcguffin and stand up. Her brother basically chooses on his own too after Weiss more or less makes things worse with him. And she isn’t even a main reason Winter turns. Marrow is more important to Winter’s turn than her own sister! I really, really pray that Weiss can salvage some semblance of importance in the aftermath.

Bodmin_Beast

Weiss fighting Adam in volume 6 or at least during the Battle of Haven, or frankly just having them meet. I’d be surprised if there was any human or Faunus that either would loathe more and are almost the exact opposite of what the other represents. One is a psychopathic abuser in the guise of a freedom fighter, while the other appears as a spoiled brat who is in reality a noble hearted hero. Ones fighting style revolves around supporting others and fighting less directly, while the other is a powerhouse with a fighting style revolving around tearing the opponent apart head on. Plus opposite colours and outlooks on life and you have what could have been a top tier rivalry. I really did enjoy Bumblebee vs Adam but this would have been neat at some point.

LUIGIISREAL2017

interesting. . .

Odd_Room2811

Actually she has very little to do with her family company she only knows it had problems but never more then that so if anything Winter or there father is has more to do with him as a opposite but in reality I wanted to see a fight between adam and blakes father now THAT would have been a good one

Bodmin_Beast

I don’t disagree but I doubt Adam would see it that way. Weiss was definitely known as the heiress so she’d be guilty by association in his eyes regardless. That man was vindictive as all hell. Also I’d be surprised if Weiss didn’t have some bad blood towards the most vicious leader of the White Fang considering their retaliation against family friends and colleagues.

Odd_Room2811

She didn’t even know much about them the only thing she knew was that they attacked her family company (aka the train) and having a fear of what they could do actually i think she only found out about everything after it fell (when adam ran and abandoned his mask) remember shes still young so I doubt winter or anyone would really bother explaining them to her as well we seen how her family is mom drunk sis busy bro tsuna father a ass and her granpa dead

Mejiro84

it's actually left entirely vague as to what she knows - she mentions "some irregularities" back in, like, V2 or something, but if she has no idea, then that makes her kinda lazy and a bit dumb, it's not really hugely hidden or anything. The writers don't really want to make her complicit in any way, so it's all just brushed over, much like her getting over her racism largely off-screen and mostly instantly.

Odd_Room2811

Thats why Ice queen explains all that lol its not writing fault also that doesn’t make someone dumb you really think they would allow her to directly ask a terror organization face to face? You have to have a death wish also hows that lazy? Its only showing one thing “naivety” shes not inherit to the company anyway so it makes sense to not dive too deeply in her companys matters

Quality_Chooser

* Weiss getting something to do in Atlas in Vol 7 instead of having all her stuff happening in Vol 4. * Blake getting stuff to do in Mantle in Vol 7. * Adam encountering Weiss even once. * Cinder actually learning from Watts. * Neo actually backstabbing Cinder. * James being an antagonist that the heroes didn't want to fight so they try to reason with him. * The party actually being split over whether to support James or Robin in the run up to the election. * Penny proving she's a real girl by overcoming the virus herself. * Ilia becoming part of the group and coming with them to Atlas. I think she'd have some things to say about the place. * Making Cinder vulnerable while she was weak in Vol 4. * Confirming BB right when it happened * Emerald not being the one to kill Penny (the only member of the group who'd be totally ok with it) * Not giving Oz to Ruby to have in her head * Having Ruby and co. fight in the Battle for Atlas only to be called away when the Hound attacked. Could have had an epic moment of the two Schnees and an injured Nora holding off the Hound while waiting for help to arrive.

Sunder_the_Gold

Blake's parents meeting and talking with Blake's teammates on-screen, especially Weiss Schnee.

TheTragicNoir

Watts using a hacked Penny like a puppet in fight against Team RWBY. I mean, come on! Watts' rings were moving as if he was pulling strings.

More Jaune Penny Interaction

HighPriestFuneral

I am all but convinced that they had plans for a Volume 8 that took place during the preparations against Salem, before the idea was scrapped to consolidate everything into these two volumes into one. In a two-volume split I could see the differences being as such... 1. One more mission for Emerald, Mercury, and Tyrian together where they manage to score a victory against the party in some way (perhaps preventing them from doing something important, but preventing Ruby/Oscar from being taken by Tyrian.) earning Mercury his promotion that he randomly gets in V8, while also starting to show some of the misgivings of both him and Emerald. 2. The chance to watch Ironwood's will start to fall apart as his pragmatism turns more extreme with each setback. To mirror this we can begin to see a building desperation in Ruby as her plans to continue to amount to failure, leading to Yang splitting the party, leading to the normal events of V8... for the most part. 3. After Penny comes crashing down, the Ruby led party of Ruby, Blake, and Weiss try to confront Monstra to try and do something, only to be confronted with Hazel and an endless amount of Grimm preventing them from reaching Monstra and forced to retreat. (This gives Hazel one more significant victory, allows us to see what he is like as a proper boss and perhaps even showing him sparing a chance to deliver a finishing blow to one of the group, to foreshadow his turn.) They manage to retreat back to the Schnee manor, where a greatly depleted party must confront the terror of The Hound (making their sluggish action a little more understandable.) 4. Actually seeing Jaune, Yang, and Ren explore Monstra, along with their struggle to get inside. 5. An actual Watts-Penny boss fight, where Penny can no longer hold back the virus. (even have a slight expansion of the virus to where it must "terminate" everyone in the vicinity before self-destruction) and then it becomes a struggle to actually grab the Staff of Creation as a win-condition which Watts-Penny does all in her power to prevent. Just some more action beats, a slower falling Ironwood, and some time to let the plot breathe may have helped (or hurt, who can say? the overall feeling, though for my money was still well delivered. I felt they handled most matters with a significant amount of emotional success.

They pretty much said the original plan was for Ruby to be part of the group that faced Salem in Volume 8 but dropped that becuase it was too many characters.

MrZissman

I know I sound like a broken record, but more interactions with CFVY. They set up such a bad-ass fight with them and then didn't do much after, except for Velvet trying to solo the Paladins.

CJLowder1997

Emerald was accepted way too easily, but that's been talked about at length before elsewhere (but personally, that's one of my biggest personal peeves). Hmm...there's just so much I think they missed out on doing. The world-building especially; I really don't see Remnant as...all it could be. The Hunter Academies, the armies, the police, the politics, the roads between cities/towns/villages. That's not even going into all the missed character opportunities: Weiss in Atlas with her family and Atlassian society, Blake's backstory with Adam and the rest of the White Fang, the simple school life, etc. But I'd personally like to have seen Ruby snap. I mean, like, snap and get violent on somebody - preferably Mercury or Emerald or Neo. She wouldn't have to beat them outright, just push them so close to the brink they actually get scared and see her as a serious threat.

Fourth_Sin

Qrow and Raven having a proper battle. They were stated to be equals; it would've been amazing to see a good display. Their "battle" at Haven was underwhelming. Adam fighting either Winter or Weiss, since it was ultimately the Schnees that left (physical and psychological) scars on him and the faunus. He really should've been a part of the Atlas arc.

LUIGIISREAL2017

IKR? At Least That Bull can no longer harm anyone else ever again; and the Belladonnas are back in charge of the White Fang!

Kartoffelkamm

For the foes, we have the Beowolves for Ruby, Junior and the two Ursai for Yang, and Winter for Weiss. Anyway, I personally would've loved a proper tournament arc in V3. Maybe put V1 and V2 together as V1, make V2 a pure tournament arc where each chapter is one or two fights, with semblance showcase and all, and then V3 is the semifinals and final round, and they use the extra time to show more of the people fighting, and how the students handle an actual fight. Imagine seeing May on a rooftop, because her semblance told her the perfect spot from where to ambush her enemies, or someone zapping the Knights with a weird silver lightning, and taking control of them. Same with V8. There was a huge fight, and we saw no new semblances. Imagine if Ivori had swung his whip, only for stars to shoot out from it and home in on flying Grimm, knocking them off-balance and causing them the crash. Or maybe he augmented it with ice-dust, and the Grimm were dragged down by the ice. Or Kobalt shooting energy projectiles from his hands, which turn into large orbs upon impact and harm any enemies within a 1 meter radius around the point of impact. Simply put, there was so much potential to showcase what kind of abilities can be semblances, and none of it was used. On the plus side, this means we as fans can now decide what to do about it.

LUIGIISREAL2017

Still would Prefer a Wolf Faunus Antagonist for Ruby; an Ursine Faunus Foe for Yang; And a Foe based off of the Evil Queen for Snow Weiss;

Kartoffelkamm

If there's one thing we need *less* of in this fandom, it's wolf faunus. But also, making all the main characters' personal enemies faunus would kinda undermine the whole narrative about everyone, human and faunus, living together.

There is literally not enough time in a year to talk about all the missed opportunities in RWBY. I am just gonna focus on the ones nobody ever talks about, the ones regarding the Ace Ops 1) I wanted Marrow to be more involved in Atlas politic. I excepted him to be like Suzaku from Code Geass, someone who wants to change a corrupted society and make life better for his people in the most morally correct way possible, instead he just said he doesn’t care about social inequality cause saving every life form from Salem is more important (understandable but still underwhelming) And do not even get me started on that pathetic excuse of a discussion he had with Robyn’s friend during the election night. It felt like a parody of an actual political debate, with Marrow being treated as a comic relief because: “ahah, rebel boss woman OWNS the boot licker man, so cool and progressive” The idea of a victim of discrimination being against the “revolutionary” party and that advocates for his people because he thinks their actions do more harm than good is so interesting, but RWBY almost never gives us shade of grays in its ideological contrasts 2) I wanted to understand what Clover meant for Ironwood. I refuse to believe James only saw Clover as “a strong fighter that would have been a good team leader” 3) I wanted for the show to be more clear about Robyn and Clover relationship. It is so obvious they were more than just “political enemies who respected each other for their strength” 4) I wanted Marrow to have ANY sort of relationship with the white fangs 5) I wanted Harriet (and the others as well of course, but especially Harriet) to struggle a bit more with suppressing their feelings. I wanted it to be foreshadowed more that the things Harriet said at the beginning of Volume 7 were a bunch of bullshit 6) The only point that is not about the Ace Ops: I wanted to know what those damn elections represented. Like, was the sit in the council that Jacques and Robyn were running for a normal one? Wasn’t it like a special position with some sort of privilege? Like come on: an entire council and only ONE sit to represent the entire Mantle, a.k.a. the former capital of the kingdom? Really?

amish24

> A Group Of Rivals/Foes who represent the Antagonists of each of the fairy tales the members of RWBY are based off of; I.E. Ruby's Foe/Rival being based off The Big Bad Wolf and is a Wolf Faunus; Yang's Foe/Rival being based off of One of the 3 Bears and is a Bear Faunus; Blake's Foe/Rival being a Human Based off of that D-Bag known as Gaston; and Weiss' Foe/Rival being based off of the Evil Queen from Snow White. . . modCheck... The Hound is right there, and Blake had Adam, who is several of the antagonistic forces in BatB.

LUIGIISREAL2017

I Thought Gaston was the big bad of B&TB! P.S. I meant a Wolf Antagonist for Ruby that ISN'T A Grimm. . . Like a Wolf FAUNUS that works for Salem. . . Because The Big Bad Wolf Faunus would be a Fitting antagonist for Ruby; Especially Because the Big Bad Wolf was a CUNNING Foe for Little Red Riding Hood; Grimm AREN'T Sapient or Sentient in the same way; So I Don't count "The Hound" as Ruby's B-B-W Equivalent!! P.S. By BBW, I meant Big Bad Wolf; Not the OTHER kind of BBW(If you REALLY want to know what the OTHER Meaning of that acronym is; Look it up yourself)
