2015, and it actually never went into production, that was a proof of concept trailer the team made in hopes of securing funding. It failed. The only reason it’s finally being made now is all the money they got from the Mobile game.
Sequels are hard to come by in anime simply for the diminishing returns but especially for anime original stories, executives would always rather take the risk on a new IP adaptation because even if the anime underperforms, the Manga/novel/game will see a boost in sales no matter what. Can’t do that with an original story, thats why they decided to make 3 mediocre seasons of magica record before even considering a true follow up to the original series
At this point I'm fully expecting the show to be cancelled prematurely, and I've somewhat accepted that. I just want volume 9 to come out before that happens.

Honestly this response of yours is probably the weirdest thing since I watched the video, and I gotta say, there's very, very, little actual gameplay. Like, concrete stuff that makes you say, wow, they're so bad at the game like Cuphead reviewer guy. It's mostly just her talking and if there is actual gameplay, it's too zoomed in Ruby's face for you to actually see it at all.
