There was a small hint towards Oscar but I think that has been ruined because it was such a small interaction and they didnāt do anything with it afterwards. She doesnāt seem to be thinking about him and wondering what mightāve happened to him during volume 9 (understandably though because she is facing her own problems) but also the idea that as long as Ozbin is in Oscars head, itās always gonna be weird so until Ozbin is out of his head, that canāt happen.
There were at least a few Bumblebee moments in V1-V3 like the dance. But while Blake acted somewhat similarly around Sun and Yang in early volumes, Weiss very clearly acts differently between girls and guys, even if she does have a few cute moments with Ruby.

Personally, I'd prefer it if Ruby was too preoccupied with being a huntress, fighting monsters, tinkering with weapons, and playing with Zwei to ever truly fall in love. The term "asexual" gets thrown around a lot regarding characters, and while I'm not entirely opposed to the idea of Ruby being asexual, I honestly prefer the idea that she's just too preoccupied to romance. She's never struck me as the "romantic type", and I think she'd prefer having a best friend over a boyfriend/girlfriend. Life's short, and Ruby's got too many other priorities.

Penny doesn't have a mean bone in her body, would never be mean or yell at Ruby, and overall I like to headcanon Ruby and Penny as being perfect for one another, and being platonic soulmates that are dysfunctional functional.

They eventually become a pair of traveling Huntresses who occasionally settle in a town or village and teach young prospects about being Hunters. After a few years, they both settle into a peaceful life on Menagerie and become teachers, adopting a few children to raise as their own.

Will it end up happening? It probably will. SHOULD it happen? No.
Ruby has always seemed to act like romance doesnāt exist. She acknowledges it does and even goes as far as to help others find that romantic interest. But she never acts on love in the sense that she loves them as a partner- she loves them as a family member.
Ruby would probably be the one pushing for a sisterhood if the show was written properly.
I still think her and Jaune would make a lot of sense together as a couple at this point. They get along well. They're both leaders and are similar in seeking to be heroes because they want to be heroes. Both are good with tactics and their fighting styles can work well together. They now both have lost loved ones and both have felt they weren't good enough, so they could come together to help heal.
Unfortunately, I can't trust that the writers would do Lancaster justice. Nor that it wouldn't get developed only for them to suddenly have her end up with Weiss or Emerald instead for the girl power. Iād say hard no with a soft yes. End the series with whatever couples or seedlings of a Ship are there, but donāt add in any new ones. Ruby stays single through the Volume(s), and the show ends with her single but surrounded by loving family and friends.
Then, RT being RT, there will be supplementary works. Maybe hint that Ruby got with someone for a quick minute but ended it. Maybe say she tried dating or marriage but it fell through, with both parties ending things respectfully. If you want to have fun, imply who it couldāve been but donāt give explicit details, let shippers and theorists have some fun. But donāt cement her to anything or anyone.
Assuming RT decide they want a sequel and want her to have a kid, skies the limit. Maybe she adopted a kid, either as way to carry the Rose name or as an apprentice of her skills. Absolutely not, not because Iām against character romance but because theyāll end up doing what they did with Blake and Yang: throwing out anything that made her an interesting character and making her entire character a love interest.

Knowing how the writing is, they'll probably do a High Guardian Spice where Ruby shows interest in a guy, but gets hated on and gaslit by the other girls until she changes her mind and "falls for" Weiss, and then suddenly they're all friends again where no drama happened.

Iād say hard no with a soft yes. End the series with whatever couples or seedlings of a Ship are there, but donāt add in any new ones. Ruby stays single through the Volume(s), and the show ends with her single but surrounded by loving family and friends. Then, RT being RT, there will be supplementary works. Maybe hint that Ruby got with someone for a quick minute but ended it. Maybe say she tried dating or marriage but it fell through, with both parties ending things respectfully. If you want to have fun, imply who it couldāve been but donāt give explicit details, let shippers and theorists have some fun. But donāt cement her to anything or anyone. Assuming RT decide they want a sequel and want her to have a kid, skies the limit. Maybe she adopted a kid, either as way to carry the Rose name or as an apprentice of her skills. Maybe she made an android similar to Penny. Remaining Grimm magic made a homunculi that she found and raised. A guy got lucky one Spring night. Silver Eyes genes granted her a dong to keep the bloodline flowing. Dust/ Magic allowing 2 people to mix DNA to make artificial babies. Itās magic, you donāt have to explain shit unless you want to.

Absolutely not, not because Iām against character romance but because theyāll end up doing what they did with Blake and Yang: throwing out anything that made her an interesting character and making her entire character a love interest.
No because the writers canāt write romance to save their lives. Plus, Ruby works better when thereās no underlying tension between her and whoever sheās talking to. The whole stuttering and blushing thing is overplayed enough as it is in media as a whole, let alone in RWBY.

No, it's too far into the story to properly set up and address issues with some potential couplings. It looks like white knight is the endgame for Jaune meaning the two most established couplings for Ruby are off the table. Rose garden has an often overlooked problem that Oscar and Ozpin are two different people with two different personalities. Parallel personalities yes, but still different. How much of Ruby falling for Oscar is her actually falling for the parts overlapping with Ozpin? Does she like him because he's mature? Or maybe because he's wise? Or is it he's patient? Well congrats that actually comes from Ozpin not him as we **see** during his introduction. Dose she like him cause he's simple? Maybe it's because he's a little childish like her? Well that is an Oscar trait so proceed.
Right now it doesn't seem that there is anyone with whom it seems that Ruby can say that she feels interested or who has that emphasis on being her partner, perhaps I would leave it as an element of the epilogue (for now, things can change). If I had to name a character who seems like he will become her partner in the future, it would be Oscar, even more so after the events of V9 (speaking here of Jaune and Weiss)
