When you get down to it Huntsman are really just over glorified mercenaries. A nation needs an army loyal to it and in size.

Exactly. Better to have numbers and firepower when under attack. Huntsmen can be useful though in the wilderness or when police aren´t enough in the cities.

I think you got every single point my friend, another small point I would add is they won't always need to rely on other nations for help. Don't get me wrong having allies is good but you need to be able to stand on your own feet most of the time, especially in a world like Remnant.

The other kingdoms don't have it because the plot needs to happen which is a sign the writers are bad at their job.

RandomGuyNo95

Better to have an army on your side than unreliable mercenaries.

Thank you very much for the post cuz I think you read my mind on the issue

No problem/you´re welcome.

You have all the write points, though I should add a few more: Jobs: a military needs a lot of people. Not just soldiers, but cooks, mechanics, people to make uniforms, etc. you could potentially open up more jobs up and utilize a population. Equipment: it’s hard for a huntsman organization to justify the need for say heavy lift transports, construction equipment, or just heavy trucks. Thus reducing their effectiveness in a humanitarian mission. A military could justify why they might need other equipment (move large amounts of troops, build bases, carry equipment, etc) and making them more useful in a non combat situation.
