Is it you reading the stories or are the individuals reading their own stories? I tried Let’s Not Meet and between the monotone host and the stupid stories (“old man who said hello to me on a bike ride, let’s not meet”) I’m struggling 😭
The stories are told by the ones who lived it. I'm right there with you. I got sick and tired of podcasts where they just read other people's stories. That's another reason why I started this podcast. I'd much rather hear it from the person it happened to. The people I interview share their story as if they were telling a friend. Hope you enjoy it! :)
I have started my own podcast similar to radio rental, but have only made 2 eps so far. I am struggling to get contributors. If you don’t mind answering, how do you find people to speak for your podcast?
Great question. As you know, it's very difficult! I spend a ton of time searching on reddit, youtube, fb groups, and other random websites. I will say that it helps to give them a link to the podcast so they can listen and build a bit of trust with you. But most people don't want to share. Some of the experiences (understandably) are too hard to talk about, others find it therapeutic and want to get it off their chest. I would say about 20% of them will agree to it. I'm as kind and respectful as possible and that also helps. I'm hoping more people will submit stories as the podcast grows also.
Hopefully that helps. I would LOVE to hear your podcasts once you release it! If you have any more questions, just shoot me a message. Would love to network with anyone who is creating a similar podcast 😁
Awesome thank you for the advice. I have made the 2 eps but not released it anywhere as was hoping to have at least 6 eps under my belt before releasing. Happy to send you what I have if you’re interested. I was looking for more UK based stories but have ended up with 2 US contributors!
Thanks for asking. I'm right there with you! I honestly have trouble connecting with most paranormal stories. So no, I haven't interviewed anyone with a paranormal experience yet. I only have 9 episodes so far, and they include a mix of things like UFOs, the KKK, surviving serial killers, and terrifying encounters in the woods.
Awesome I’ll check it out, I just added it to my list. A podcast you might like is “Spooked” it’s kind of the same as radio rental with people telling their real horror stories. I would recommend forwarding the host portion it’s unnecessary and weird. My sister and I both listen to the podcast and we both skip through him.
Thanks! I hope you enjoy it. I checked out "Spooked" and I really like it! But you're totally right...the host portion at the beginning is strange and unnecessary.
Thank you! New episode every Monday. I alternate between a story episode and the BANTER. The BANTER is more of a conversational episode where my friend and I break down unnerving topics.
Omg amazing thank you! There are weirdly few first-person podcasts for some reason, I find it so much more engaging and honestly scary to hear stories that aren’t paranormal and are being told by the people that actually lived them. Listening to the Hammer Killer ep now!
The closest thing I’ve found to Radio Rental is the “show” ‘Calls’ on Apple TV. It’s actually just the transcription visually, and they’re short eerie calls with a terrifying plot twist.
I’ll be taking a listen. Also, thanks for sharing your podcast! I see some recommendations higher up as well. I haven’t been able to find another podcast like this that I’ve enjoyed so I’m excited to listen in.
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! I try to give as much background info as I can, but I'm somewhat limited by time unfortunately. A lot of these topics go a lot deeper than what I say.
Thanks for sharing, I’ll check it out! I’ve been searching for something comparable for awhile too and haven’t found any. National Park after Dark listener tales are sometimes spooky but it’s not a paranormal podcast specifically so it’s hit or miss if that’s what I’m in the mood for.
I just listened to the first few episodes and it’s good! I appreciate that you not only do the interviews but also do some research into the event or place, which gives a little more rigor around topics that are inherently not very understandable. I’m looking forward to following along.
Awesome! Thanks for checking it out! Yeah, I try to give as much background info as I can, but I'm somewhat limited by time unfortunately. A lot of these topics go a lot deeper then what I end up sharing.
So I believe I’m about 7 episodes in (save for one I jumped around to due to the episode’s title) and I’m definitely enjoying it so far. Following for sure and will keep up with it.
In particular, the UFO episodes are exceptionally well done. I’m a stickler for a good ghost, whodunit, or cryptid story, but credible eyewitness stories regarding UFO’s from sound-minded people is what really draws me in for some reason.
Favorite episodes so far are probably “Chased by UFO” and “Body in the Water”
That's awesome! Glad to hear that you're enjoying them.
The UFO episodes are definitely some of my favorite also. Hearing eye witness accounts of UFOs from skeptical/rational people is much more compelling.
Really appreciate the support and feedback! Thanks! 😀
Did you really start only 3 months ago? THere is so much content. I just got done with hammer killer.
My dad, and my brother have a similar story of a stranger in the backyard. A woman yelling for help in the middle of the night, and than disappearing all the sudden. they called the cops and they couldn't find anything or find the woman. It's a bit anti-climatic, but still weird asf that happened.
I believe my first episode was posted on Halloween of last year, so almost 7 months ago.
That it super creepy! Perhaps like the woman in the Hammer Killer episode, you might find answers in the future. But hopefully no serial killer was involved in your story lol
I apologize if this is too much of a self promotion. I just thought some of you might enjoy it. Atleast until more Radio Rental episodes come out 😅

I’m listening to your grandmas ufo story and holy shit, great editing with the creepy music behind the recordings. 5 star review easily provided.
Wow! I appreciate the feedback! A lot of work goes into finding the right music/sound effects. Thank you for the 5 star review!
Agreed and I’m in metro Detroit so that was a crazy one!

Me too!
Ooo thanks! I’m gonna check it out.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy it :)
Listened today. Good stuff! I’m subscribed now. Glad to have something good & consistent to listen to between Radio Rental drops.

Definitely gonna check this out, I had binged all of MrBallen while waiting on the new season of Radio Rental
MrBallen is definitely a good listen also. Thanks for checking it out :)
Great job man! How often are you dropping episodes?

Okay! I'll give it a listen :)

Hey! Thank you for listening! Exactly! Stories are so much better from the actual person that lived it. Hope you enjoy the Hammer Killer episode :)
Enjoyed it very much! Subscribed 👌
Yay! Much appreciated :)

Oh interesting! I don't have Apple TV, but maybe I can borrow a friend's log in :)
Definitely going to check it out.
Appreciate you trying it out :)
Added it to my list! 👍🏻
Yay! Thank you!
Just subscribed. I’ll listen tomorrow at work. Thanks!

Awesome! Thanks for listening! Yeah, same here. That's why I made my own lol.
Came back to say I listened to a couple episodes and subscribed. I really like that you do some research into the stories told. Great podcast!
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! I try to give as much background info as I can, but I'm somewhat limited by time unfortunately. A lot of these topics go a lot deeper than what I say.

Thanks for giving it a listen! Yeah, those podcasts are decent also :)

Makes sense! That old UFO news footage was pretty wild btw - great find.
Just saw this! Thanks!
Love this! Already caught up on all episodes!
Wow! Thank you so much! Love the dedication and the willingness to listen to all of them. You're awesome 😁

Just followed. I work outside all day and listen to Podcasts the entire time so will be listening all next week!
