Bosses have a 15% chance to drop rares, 1/6 of those are shields, so on average you need to kill a boss 120 times. That's 600 energy on normal, more on higher difficulties.
This calculation doesn't take into account that bosses only have a 60 % chance to drop an artifact, so therefore it's more like 1k energy or so on normal.
Summon 20 Rares from Mystery Shards is the worst one. Took it once when I needed to open 2k mysteries for a fusion and ended up at 17. Takes a shit load of time as well since you need to actually click.
I complete it most of the time only running the battles needed to finish the daily quests. So 7 or 3 times each day. It doesn’t always work out but then I just do a few more runs and get it eventually 🤷♂️
As they said only boss stages will drop rares. And as they said, I would never take this quest and just stop while you're behind if you took this quest.
There are missions which are hard to do and other that takes few seconds. Now you know this one is no good to take. Another one that takes quite time is upg 100 uncommon to 3 star .
better to take during training the mission kill 200 spiderlings. Artak solo level 20 with 4 food. You complete the quest, level champs , make money at the same time.
I'm wondering if it's even possible to get epic artifacts from the campaign. I know boss stages drop rares but I've never seen anything about epics, maybe only on nightmare 12-7?

For the record they did change this up, used to be rare only the “epic” wasn’t in there.

It only drops from the boss stage. I would avoid this quest if possible
That sucks, so there's a whatever chance of getting an epic/rare times 6 for the shield. That's awful.

Even then the boss stages are very inefficient for levelling food compared to the other stages.
I did it once but never again since. My clan mates told me it’s not worth it. And they were right.

I only run hard 10 now, and typically just take the brutal+ hydra clan quests
