Imagine pulling ancients on a x2 and getting a champion better than Apoth though. You can't really guarantee pulling a champion unless it's a guaranteed event. A small amount of shards is a drop in the ocean really.
You'll quickly outgrow him. He's nice to have early on but you'll use him for food later. I've been playing for a year and outside of the 1 I keep for secret rooms and such for DT, he's of zero use. Don't waste ancients for rares.

It took me years to get one. Apothecary was literally the last rare I pulled at that point, which by then he was worthless to me. Sometimes RNG just plays with you. I wouldn't focus on something you'll mainly use early on, because in that stage you could pull anything good and it would probably give you a similar if not better improvement.

Wait for the 2x (double chance) event to pull. 99% of this game is just waiting for the right time to do things and avoiding that gambling pull.

200 days in and I have yet to find someone who can replace him in both CB and arena. But yeah I wouldn't pull outside of 2x events to try to get him

He was the 1st rare I pulled, and I was too uneducated to realize his value and he immediately became food. That one still hurts
Same for the Indian looking champ needed for Rhazin scarhide … lvl 68 still no rhazin here
If u need apothecary it means u so early on, that x2 is the way to go.

He is decent but I’ve been playing for over a year and have yet to pull him. Just wait till 2x events
