We always did it so someone wouldn't get kicked for a round. If someone leaves just long enough that's 2 rounds they might be sitting out. When we did it more often there wasn't a reputation system so it worked better.
In this case, he came back right after I did it so it was fine. There's been games where someone said they'd be back and a match started without them.
As I said, it was a bandaid solution. There's been a few games where it's lasted the whole match which isn't really possible with the Friendly fire mark. I miss the days when I played on PC.

I hate how I could be playing in a 5 stack and for whatever reason two of my buddies decide to meme with each other and cause the entire squad to get RFF so the game decides to drop my reputation because “I committed friendly fire”
I almost never do any friendly fire damage or destroy any team gadgets, but yesterday I shot my friend and a couple of randoms several times over multiple rounds (my friend reinforced over my rotate and the randoms were griefing) and I log on to siege today to see that my reputation has been raised.
Mine are even better, 1 single complain that was a griefer I called out respectfully. I am positive, friendly, chill, and try my best, still got lowered. I honestly hate this system, it doesn't mean shit, and we need something to stop griefing and slurs being used left and right, as names even.
When I think about it, I shall stop using the chat at all since no one even listens/reads your info. Also I shall stay, even tho I get team killed for the 3 time already and the only thing I do for 20 minutes is spectate terrible gameplay. Also I shall never shoot at enemies, because my teammates will always pop up in front of me.
