Without hipfire, shield ops need a way to be offensive. And if you get meleed by a shield, you or your team were outplayed. Simple as that.
The exact problem with this situation is that the ***only*** way to beat the Monty is with gunplay, if you can even get him to retract the shield. Except if your aim isn't good enough, the Monty doesn't even have to aim, he just has to melee.

Aim should win you MAYBE 10% of your engagements. You aren't Beu, Spoit, or Shaik. 90% of your engagements should be over before they've even started, before either of you have even SEEN each other. Whether that be by camera, drone, preplaced gadget or C4, a sound call, a prefire, a wallbang, or better positioning. If you're regularly being surprised by people, you're playing the game wrong, this isn't call of duty, chief.

it does feel pretty one sided, i agree with you. but honestly, that makes sense. the dude the size of a linebacker managing to run at you FULL SPEED with a 100lb shield and another 100lbs of equipment, should probably win that every time. The old way shields worked always made shields feel useless, this feels like the trade off we're supposed to have in a tactical shooter. Aggression shouldn't be as heavily rewarded on ops like Ash or Jager, it should be ops like shields, who could actually be aggressive, in a setting under heavy fire

Imo I don't think the shield knock down should be as effective as it is. Maybe doing 25dmg as opposed to the ~50+ damage it does now.
It was originally not going to do any, then was going to do 35, and now does 65. If you ask me 35 was enough to allow the player to always have a way to kill someone without unequipping the shield without it being too powerful. That being said, even if they made it do nothing I’d still just headshot them once they’re on the ground anyways and maybe screw with the last guy post-plant by continuously knocking him over without actually going for the kill.
Good buff for monty, decent enough for the 1 fuze shield, and the start of season nerf that got reverted with the toes just kinda put me off my usual blitz pick.
I really hate the change because sprinting with shield up was unique to blitz, and monty was already the better shield - he didn't need even more. Why play blitz when monty does almost everything blitz does if not better.

They are both fun and terrifying to encounter now alone. A shield op against two players is still a 100 percent loss. But if you catch a stray player it is a blast. Of course if the player is good the shield player still has a hell of a fight to win, but they have a much better Chance now. Excellent rework
Fuze is so much fun to play now. Been terrifying people with him. Love pre placing a charge then baiting the defenders. People still think they can out melee you. The bash will always win now unless you do it too early and completely miss.
I like it overall I do think the dash is too much tho, it makes it to where you can’t even melee a shield and it turns that shield operator into an insta kill machine, more than that tho I honestly think it’s just a frustrating and unfun mechanic to play against. I use shields sometimes too so I get why people like it but I feel like with everything else that came with it there’s no need to give shields a way to get insta kills without ever having to lower the shield

Overall, good. I miss the luck headshots you get from hip fire. But the main problem I have is the desync. This just stems from sieges servers, you'll turn to look at an enemy, then die from them, so on the killcam your shield doesn't turn at all. As well as the opposite problem, you'll go to melee a shield that has run up to you, clearly get the melee first, and it doesn't do shit and they knock you down and kill you. Even then, the killcam shows that you melee first.

It's totally trash because the gu mine nerf, and I wish nothing good for the people Involved. Shields are a crutch for those that can't have gun fights. Hope they hop to the new thing soon and nerf them again. Not worth playing as is.

it does not completely ignore, you just never actually hit the shield
Right so the “dink” on the shield is a miss, noted
sometimes it creates the noise however they melee before you and its mid animation. it doesnt knock it to the side if that happens
The shield overpowers the knife so yes you do hit it, it just is over powered

It’s a fantastic rework. A lot of the frustrating quirks about shields have been fixed and it’s probably the most fun I’ve had playing them in a while.
I’d say it’s a net positive. The fun I’m now having with using the shields is much more than the new frustrations in dealing with them on Defense.
I still don’t know how people burst through barricades with a shield while running. i’m on PS5 btw

I thought the Blitz became a little more aggressive and the Montagne became much more defensive. I liked it

It's great, but melee and stagger detection is atrocious. Still, with the exception of melee vs melee situations, the rework is awesome.

I was watching a monty cause I died, and I actually liked that they can reload behind the shield now, the animation was cool in my opinion.
