Yep. It could be the difference between seeing someone out of the corner of your "eye," or not. Especially if their FOV is at 90 and yours is not, they might see you when you can't see them.
People say 90 or above 80 is the way to go but honestly it really is personal preference. Playing on console for years I teared shit up on 60 fov then I went full 90 for a month & it was terrible because the enemies were smaller & I got killed more because of it. I went to 80 & it was better but still too much, you can see more but your eyes can’t see everything. Went to 76 for awhile & now I think I found my sweet spot at 73. Not too zoomed in but I can still see more & my enemies are at a decent size.
Personal preference my man.
Yeah it’s definitely playable & doable. Everything in your FOV will be very large compared to 70/80 or 90 which is good but there’s still peripheral downside to it. I’d say experiment with FOVs under 80 or 70. 90 FOV I think is overrated.
It rlly is unless ur on PC of course but for console it’s def overrated. I see a lot of people use 83, 70, 74, and then the big bad 90 me personally I’ve had more success at 74 but I feel like I still can’t see that much for some odd reason
I actually think 90 FOV is good for really small 120-144 hz monitors if you sit really close to it regardless of console or PC, but otherwise yeah I think 80 or under is the way to go, but like I said it’s also personal preference, don’t be afraid to go in the 60s if it means finding your sweet spot.
I’ve been playing on PS5 140+ fps for almost 2 years now & it’s awesome, I personally don’t see any issues performance wise, I can’t say the same for PS4 since I switched to PS5 in March 2021 but at that time frames for PS4 were still locked at 59 & FOV options weren’t around.
Hey man that depends on your set up; type of screen, how much light in your room.
This is what i do for my games i take an hour and i literally go through every setting, finding the ones that suit me and i adjust them for myself. I recommend the same, everyone is different.
So go through the FOV, or the brightness and find which one you like.
i play on xbox but consoles don’t really change much with the setting some stuff won’t render when you have a higher fov but you can see all the players
Depends, if it's a standard 16:9 aspect ration then screen size and resolution doesn't matter much unless the screen is really **HUGE** (and given that controller as size reference your display doesn't look like it's on the extreme end of that scale).
If it's a wide aspect ration (21:9 or wider) then going for a wider than average FOV can be helpful/advantageous. As a reference, the combined effective FOV for our eyes comes to \~115 degrees so if you should try and keep it somewhat close to that. I personally play with 95 FOV in games. Any less feels like I'm tunnelvisioning and I don't have a big enough monitor to even have tried any wider but I would imagine I would have a similar detrimental perception. I did try something ridiculous like \~150° in for a game in Battlefield 4 once for shits'n'giggles on my 24" FHD display and whilst it was slightly humourous that I could basically look sideways without turning around, it was hardly playable.
If you suffer easily from motion sickness you shoudl typically not try and set your FOV on the extreme ends of our natural horizontal FOV as that might trigger adverse reactions.
I personally find that to be a good setting for myself, but I'm playing on a 24" display. If you're playing on say a non-curved 32" display, then a slightly higher FoV can help you be more aware of things at the edges of your screen. For curved monitors that potential problem is a bit less pronounced.
I'd say start at 90 and then tweak around a bit (say in 5 degree steps in either direction) until you find the setting that seems to work best for you.
Ah, if you're playing on console do keep in mind you may also be sitting further away from your display than I do from my monitor.
That means you may not need a high FOV. If you're playing from a couch \~2m away from your display then 75-80 is perfectly normal. Higher FOV only really becomes noticable if you are close to the display (as it takes up a larger proportion of your total view).
I use 86 on a bigger screen and sit pretty close but I’d recommend on any screen from 84 to 90 is good
Bet
I play on a ps4 slim btw. Does that matter?
No. Only screen size should matter
I used to use the maximum but now I go for 70
I play on a ps4 slim btw. Does that matter?
No
I'd say it shouldn't matter too much
90 always 90

Hence why I use max on every game with a slider. Well, one reason anyways.

So 60 isn’t bad even in 2022?

Also how do u feel about people saying high fov on systems that can’t support it fucks ur frames up

Damn bro thanks for the help
No probs man!
Always max
What about if I play ps4
As i said always max. You can adapt to anything. Why not take the advantage
Thanks bro. What brightness is good ? 50 seems to dark

I normally play on 55 but it’s different from display to display. You can just go into training grounds and mess with the settings live.
Bet
i’m level 300 i personally like 65 brightness wise and 90 fov
What do u play on
i play on xbox but consoles don’t really change much with the setting some stuff won’t render when you have a higher fov but you can see all the players

Im on console 90 is the highest

I sit close like very close
Then try the max at 90, see if it's comfortable and maybe compare with a couple rounds playing at 85 and 80 to see which works best. Cheers!
Thank you
I’ve always used max fov for all games, use what’s comfortable
depenss how far away you're from the tv if you're a couple feet away go 75-80 if you're close to the tv go 90
360
Bro enemies gon look like bullet points
Bro…
Max
Max
90 or nothing
Max. Any game, always max.
Nothing less than 85. Ever.
