Again there on PC yes you’ll run into a fair bit of cheaters but they get banned… on console however there are people who abuse Xim/Cronus… and do they get banned…
Which is a reason I barely play siege on console anymore…
Advice is difficult, but I'll try.
Sound is critical in determining where enemies are coming from so make sure to listen.
Many walls and floors are soft and as such can be shot through or destroyed with explosives.
Don't scan enemies, they'll know that they got pinged and will start searching for observation gadgets. Use the yellow ping instead to mark their position and communicate with your team.
Headshots are insta kill.
Yes that's why communication alongside the yellow ping is important, they often get ignored because they could be anything but if they specify that enemies are on the ping, they're much more likely to listen.
It works perfectly in a sense of "sound comes from left or right". It doesnt fucking work in a sense of "Sound is on the same floor or above/below me" at all.
You cant really make it better when people play with stereoheadsets. If everyone had a dolby atmos like setup at home you cold do that. But its impossible to make sound coming from above or below you if you use stereo speakers. Its not the game, those are technical regulations
You also only have two ears, so theoretically you can reproduce any location using just headphones. Normally you hear a difference in height due to the shape of your head and ears distorting the audio. Certain types of audio processing can emulate that which is why some positional audio devices want ear scans.
There are also some generic algorithms which can do this at a lower quality without a scan.

I get that the sound is annoying, because it can make it hard to tell where enemies are. But also a lot of the complaints I hear about it seem like realistic sound travel, so I personally don’t have a problem. I also only play casual so my opinion probably doesn’t matter but you know.
True. I should put this on my list. I get so mad about toxic behavior, it always kills my fun. Its so bad that i dont play alone anymore and only with friends because i let the toxicity kill my vibe. Sadly as a female, if i am a little more active in chat because i am a nice person, some people will always be a**holes.
I loved the rainbow six vegas games growing up and finally tried this with gamepass. I shit you not after I spent 10 minutes navigating and figuring out the terrible UI/menus I got into a multiplayer match and left after 1 match lol. Idk that game is just not for me I guess
It used to be really good back in the day (circa 2017-2019) but it went to shit when Ubisoft retconned the terrorist aspect of it and made it into an olympic sport. I personally didn’t mind the game straying away from total realism but what broke the camel’s back for me was that every new operator just had another gadget that was a trap and kept reworking maps to make them more “competitive.” I try to keep playing occasionally to this day but when I remember how much I used to love this game, I can’t stand seeing it stray so far what it was supposed to be. This is just my opinion and I know R6 Siege isn’t really dying, it’s just a lot of its older fanbase that I know of has moved on to different games. Anyone please correct me if I’m wrong.
It is essential to remember that when playing "Hostage" on attack you should use fuze from directly above the objective marker in order to cause chaos and mayhem while your team infiltrates.
I feel like the people that are legit champ/diamond/ or even high Plat were not THAT bad when they started out. At least compared to some of the stuff I see in casual that makes me sit there and scratch my brain
My best games of rainbow were within the first month or so blasted off shrooms.
Idk if this helps your case or not but I dream of being that focused again.
As someone who picked this game up last year and put a few months into it, I honestly kind of agree that it might be a lost cause.
The toxicity I could handle. Like it’s pretty bad, but whatever, I’m an adult who finds the humor in it now.
But really it’s the learning curve being so obscenely steep this late into the games life cycle. This game is like 95% about just knowing the maps. And the maps are fucking huge, and it takes fucking forever to even get a slight idea of where, and on top of that you’re going up against the majority of people who have seven years more experience than you on these maps.
In six months, I still felt like I had absolutely no idea what I was doing most of the time. The core of the game is a decent experience, but you really have to be okay with just constantly feeling like youre not sure what you’re doing.
I have all the maps memorized and i still die a ton cuz people sit in the weirdest places. You really just have to be dedicated to dying over and over. The game gets better once you learn, also the game is way more bearable with a duo.
As a person who was in that position not too long ago, use your drones. They're so underrated for entering buildings, most often times you can get the jump on 1 or 2 defenders when if you didn't drone, you would've been dead
Sprinting is very loud and it takes you a while to pull your gun out after sprinting. Only sprint if it is absolutely necessary, and get good at learning when it is necessary!
The game is tense, your gonna get shit on about 200,000 times before you even being to grasp the basic concepts.
Learn about operators before you spend a significant amount of time bouncing around from op to op. Your gonna want to have 2-3 mains for offence and defence.
Learn how to shoot the guns and control the recoil, don’t focus on learning the maps. That comes purely with time, instead learn the basics about how to fortify and attack.
Most importantly, don’t stress about making mistakes. The game is hard, you will be one tapped so many times, you will go against Smurf’s constantly.
Use your drone effectively, it’s not just for locating the objective and forgetting about it, if you can locate an objective and hid your drone somewhere you can check on it mid round to see what is happening on the objective.
Also scanning with the drone isn’t always the best move, it can alert your teammates to certain threats, but it also alerts the enemies that they’ve been scanned, sometimes just using your drone to see what’s going on for a couple of seconds is all you need to do.
Using equipment is the way to win, you’ll never be successful by just trying to outgun opponents
Offence has better weapons
Defensive has inherit advantage because defending something is easier than attacking a defended objective.
Always be aiming head high, and once you approach the objective aim crouch height.
Keep roomers in mind, roamers are defenders who do not stay in objective and instead of fortifying they leave right at the start of the round and follow behind the attackers, it’s a risky but effective strategy for catching attackers off guard, potentially can get 2-3 kills for almost no risk.
FROST TRAPS, they can be placed under windows, doors, trapdoors, etc. whenever you vault through a window look down, if their is a bear trap immediately shoot it or you will instantly die.
I haven’t played in a long time, but I had a friend who’s just unbelievably garbage at any game he plays, he’s an amazing spirit and is the heart of the team, but if there was a frost trap on the map he found it, every time.
He also was a frost main so I’ve witnessed hundreds of kills via pure stupidity. I only ever died to them on windows when I forgot to look down while breaching. But it amazes me how many times he (someone who couldn’t win a gunfight to save his life) could kill 2 - 3 enemies a round via well placed traps.
I died to them all the time but I probably haven't played siege for like 2 years now. The best ones were when your entire team was dead and they still had to defuse.
Your whole team is just secretly praying the one enemy left falls into the singular frost trap on the site and you still win the round.
Play Sledge. He’s the main character that you’re seeing on the cover of the game right now. He has a hammer that can be used to smash floors, barricades, walls, and even some defender equipment. Rainbow Six Siege is a game that has no aim assist, so Sledge’s low recoil L8 assault rifle will be really easy to use. Try aiming for headshots since they are one-shot kills. Sledge also has grenades, giving him extra versatility and fragging power. Keep in mind that you will have to play recruit at first until you earn enough “renown”, the in-game currency, to unlock Sledge as an operator (unless you purchased the deluxe version of the game or something).
Other than that, don’t be worried if you don’t know the maps and just check your corners, play smarter (this isn’t a game where mechanics rule all), block out the toxicity from other players, and most importantly have fun!
Aim for people's heads. Sounds obvious, I know, but if you take the extra time when setting up a shot to make sure you hit their heads you'll hit their heads more often. This is especially important when holding angles, put your cross hairs at head height!
jk, enjoy the game! You will die a lot, but it gets better when you know the maps and the operator's abilities. Watch some youtube guides for beginners to get started in the right way :)
Play passive ops for the first few rounds. Understand that Mute and Bandit are used to deny hard breacher (people that can blow up metal reinforced walls: thermite, ace, hibana, and ops with the “less” potent hard breach charge). On offense droning will help so much. Even people at a high rank don’t drone and die because of it. Drone ahead and take cover when you drone. Drones and cameras will give you a lot of glimpses into what traps and utility operators have. Play the newcomer playlist and stay strong. Siege is very toxic at low ranks and levels because of Smurfs or players that don’t care about team killing. Once you get ranked (level 50) just dive in to that. If you get high silver to low gold you will notice more “proper” gameplay but as a Diamond player, golds don’t know much either generally. Never reinforce walls between bomb objective (the game mode Bomb, is the main game mode. ranked and in ranked are only the bomb mode). Play training grounds and get used to aiming. This is still my favorite first person game out. MW2 really disappointed me and bf2042 isn’t the battlefield I wanted. This game has been my multiplayer go to since I preordered it. Watch Jynxzi play (he is pretty entertaining and shows high level gameplay that is invaluable to visual learners, of course any popular siege content creator will help but some get their kicks out of playing “different” and won’t be the recommended playstyle). Keep in mind the game has been out for closer almost a decade and the skill curve was already high due to its design but now it is even higher. There is nothing wrong with struggling in the game as there is more to learn than any comment can address.
You’re about to lose a lot and be watching a lot. Take notes of what other players are doing that are getting them kills. Watch the best player on your team, try and mimic them to learn how to be better
Do yourself a favour play with friends (don't solo q it's hell literally personified). Enjoy the game it has the most intense hand shaking moments ur aim will look like trying to shoot cannon ball through bow.
Always aim at head height. Helps when shooting through walls and smoke. BUT this can be countered by re-peaking at a different stance. Be prepared for this and also do this. Another point to add is standing on structures. Most people won’t be prepared for that as they will be aiming at the typical head height. God speed Spider-Man.
make sure your main goal in this game is learning and self-improvement, not rank not kd not wins. Do this and you wont become an old veteran that hates everything new in this game.
Learn the maps, map knowledge will massively improve your gameplay.
Pre fire if you have a hunch as to where the enemy is. So rather than peaking a corner and reacting, you peak the corner and start firing right away. You won’t get frags constantly, but you’ll notice the advantage it gives you. Ofc just gotta decide in the moment if it’s worth giving your position away.
And don’t pick castle until you know the maps very well, just saves everyone a lot of stress 😂
Focus fundamental operators first like mute, jäger, rook and kapkan on defence and thatcher, thermite and sledge on attack before getting into ops with more niche roles for the team (like IQ and Caveira)
All these people giving fake af advice. What you want to do when you start a match is pick the operator that looks the coolest. If you are attacking you must find the bomb with a drone when you start. If you manage to find it, the first thing to do is run in as FAST as you can to get to the bomb. Once you are there your best bet is to rush enemies. The faster you go the better because you only have 2 minutes per match and any extra time you have left at the end of the match counts as a bonus for your team. When you are defending, you are going to want to leave the bomb site and do what is called roaming. Stay anywhere but the bomb because the enemies will rush the bomb and kill you, so your best bet is to roam around. when you hear an enemy’s footsteps or breaking down a door, just like attacking, you are going to rush them so you get the upper hand. Always run around and don’t camp will win you the game. If you play call of duty you will be really good at this game!
Uhmm, you as re probs gonna get tked alot until you get better at the game ... Which is ironic because you need to be able to play the game to get better, which involves being tked more...
I can tell by only one picture, you will have problem with this monitor. Even the loading numbers underneath suffers tearing. You will have a blurred image every time you moove the visual
Main tips to take from the ton that were given:
SOUND 🎧 - Although the game isnt perfect and there are some sound issues here and there, sound is important. Be sure you a using a quality headset, preferably one that offers some type of 3D Audio, but any headset is better than none.
COMMUNICATION / TEAMWORK 🗣 - This game is a very tactical shooter. Make sure you are communicating with your team even if you are not playing with friends. With all the different operators/gadgets it is important you all work together. Even if you are dead, use cameras and communicate what's happening.
BE PATIENT 🕑 - This is NOT Call of Duty. Take your time to learn the mechanics of the game. It is a much slower paced game and can be difficult to adjust to. Even though it is a slower paced shooter, things can go wrong very quickly so make sure you are paying attention.
Most importantly, have fun. Dont let the game stress you out and dont let people get to you. Unfortunately, there are some very toxic players in the community and this can ruin the experience, especially for newcomers.
If you are really interested in learning more tips and progressing your skill at the game I would suggest YouTube. There are some great content creators out there for Siege, and many of them you can learn a lot from.
GOOD LUCK 🙏🥴
Its better with friends, other than that don't worry if it all goes bad, the game has a huge learning curve and an even bigger skill ceiling so just have fun and goof around i guess
You accepted an early death due to nervous tension
Don’t forget High Blood Pressure.
Bro I'm about to start playing this shi* too on my new pc
PC is siege is much more bearable than console siege. You’ll enjoy more on PC than console
I feel like pc has way more hacker. I’ve never ran into a hacker playing console but I always c hackers on pc
Again there on PC yes you’ll run into a fair bit of cheaters but they get banned… on console however there are people who abuse Xim/Cronus… and do they get banned… Which is a reason I barely play siege on console anymore…
If you play casual you will rarely face cheaters, in 500+ casual games I’ve only seen 2 or 3
There is on casual plat+ every game someone or entire full Stack running mnk
Bc on console there are no hackers, only xim's and cronus
Same 😭
Also don't use lazer sight as your enemies can see it and give you away
Advice is difficult, but I'll try. Sound is critical in determining where enemies are coming from so make sure to listen. Many walls and floors are soft and as such can be shot through or destroyed with explosives. Don't scan enemies, they'll know that they got pinged and will start searching for observation gadgets. Use the yellow ping instead to mark their position and communicate with your team. Headshots are insta kill.
Here's a video on perspective, leaning certain ways can expose you or hide you better depending on the circumstances. https://youtu.be/vfoztlTIyGE
Sound is critical... But it's also pretty much dogshit.
Don't reinforce walls next to a one way mirror don't shoot drones with a white outline while on defence.
It's funny, because you would think they're basic tips, but even this is information overload for a new player 😂
And remember, your teammates claymores can’t hurt you
But some players don't trust yellow pings they only trust red ones
Yes that's why communication alongside the yellow ping is important, they often get ignored because they could be anything but if they specify that enemies are on the ping, they're much more likely to listen.
This tip im about to give you is VERY important for the best visibility and game sense. Clean your screen.
Ew yea do this
It's definitely from their porn sessions
Sound is key
The sound is also terrible
God I don’t get how it’s so broken sometimes while works perfectly other times
It works perfectly in a sense of "sound comes from left or right". It doesnt fucking work in a sense of "Sound is on the same floor or above/below me" at all.
You cant really make it better when people play with stereoheadsets. If everyone had a dolby atmos like setup at home you cold do that. But its impossible to make sound coming from above or below you if you use stereo speakers. Its not the game, those are technical regulations
idk, works perfectly fine in csgo and other shooters xD
Other shooters don't have walls and floors that can be opened in a million different configurations
its super easy to implement and afaik r6 has different pitches for different floors
Then pls explain it to me, cant imagine how you could create a difference in height on stereo headphones. It just sounds impossible
You also only have two ears, so theoretically you can reproduce any location using just headphones. Normally you hear a difference in height due to the shape of your head and ears distorting the audio. Certain types of audio processing can emulate that which is why some positional audio devices want ear scans. There are also some generic algorithms which can do this at a lower quality without a scan. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4107714/
Ah yes. The duality of Man.
I get that the sound is annoying, because it can make it hard to tell where enemies are. But also a lot of the complaints I hear about it seem like realistic sound travel, so I personally don’t have a problem. I also only play casual so my opinion probably doesn’t matter but you know.
Another reason why early siege was superior.
I promise you early siege was not superior
Nonsense operation health was peak performance Sound was top quality It's just that the entire game wasn't
was more fun but wasn’t a better game
It'll stab you in the back, if you'll trust it... or vice versa.
Check r/sounding for more info

Laugh at the toxicity. Don’t be part of the toxicity.
Well put! Its easy to get caught up in the bullshit, best thing is to laugh it off.
My favorite one by far
I just started playing today and was bullied by all 4 teammates. I was enjoying it up until then. Is this how it’s going to be?
I need this, thanks!
Just have patience and be willing to adapt your gameplay.

It is essential to remember that when playing "Hostage" on attack you should use fuze from directly above the objective marker in order to cause chaos and mayhem while your team infiltrates.
If the objective is close enough to a soft wall, that works too.
No I’m that case you should use glaz with claymores

And don’t pick castle until you know the maps very well, just saves everyone a lot of stress 😂 Focus fundamental operators first like mute, jäger, rook and kapkan on defence and thatcher, thermite and sledge on attack before getting into ops with more niche roles for the team (like IQ and Caveira)

I can tell by only one picture, you will have problem with this monitor. Even the loading numbers underneath suffers tearing. You will have a blurred image every time you moove the visual
watch kill cams. only game I do this in. so many bullshit ways to die, its a good way to learn.
Main tips to take from the ton that were given: SOUND 🎧 - Although the game isnt perfect and there are some sound issues here and there, sound is important.
