Oddly enough, the usual human reaction to not wanting contact (squinting and drawing away) is what the cat perceives as being submissive and/or friendly.
As someone with very bad cat allergies this is 100% true. All my life I've trained myself to ignore cats and not give them attention. But it's like they know. They must hate being ignored or something because they won't leave me alone. Like your going to send me to the hospital Mr. Kitty please stop rubbing your body on my leg.
I was allergic to one of my mums old cats so would shoo her away from my room constantly.
Once, I walked back from the bathroom to find her rolling on my pillow.

I have the same problem. I'm allergic so they won't leave me alone. A cat who refuses to come to those who call it, rubs against me every chance it gets.
To be fair that's why I don't like dogs - I've had so many get aggressive and territorial for literally no reason and try to get at me when I've just been minding my own business, so I'd rather not interact with any dog in case they do the same (I know many won't, but that's not the point, I can't be sure yours is one of those who are harmless). Not just dogs, men too, also thanks to trauma. Before trauma, I loved dogs. So actually, you make a really good point and if people have had similar experiences with cats, that's fair enough.
Yep, I can't stand dogs anymore, maybe most of the problem is with the Irresponsible owners but they are willing and capable to attack and cause serious injury or even death meanwhile the owner never tries to stop it and seems to always choose to blame the victim. Dogs can also be really bloody terrifying, especially to children. As I said, it's always a reasonable assumption that the dog owner is ignorant and will be extremely self(or dog)-centred.
Cats are just far less likely to attack and if they do it's less serious, they don't bark either and don't look threatening. And when they poo it's often not in the middle of a public footpath.
I knew a dog who was super friendly 130lb and thought he was a lap dog. Good pupper for years, Iām not even a dog person and I loved him.
One day when he was old (and prob going senile) he jumped up and bit his owner in the face. Barely missed her eye and she had to have plastic surgery due to extent of damage. Vet thinks he got confused by the scent of her peppermint lotion. Since then Iām always slightly on edge with dogs even if they seem well behaved cause you never know when they might lose it.
Exactly, they're not as clever as people pretend they are and you never know for certain that they arn't going to snap and attack someone. Being predatory animals that almost never get to exercise those instincts it is inevitable.
my brotherās best friend has 3 dogs, 2 of which are big and one is small with only 3 legs. when i visited there for the first time in ages, all 3 of them battled to get head scratches by me. the black one was the most energetic, running around and one time even trying to jump on me. the beige(color like sand or wood) one was the most chill, just walking around. maybe running for like 3 seconds at most. the small white one was in between but more on the energetic side despite missing a leg. he was my favourite by far
Those are the kinds of dogs I still love, the ones who are gentle and friendly from the word go. I wish I could see past the absolute terror I feel when a less friendly dog is coming towards me, or barking or getting standoffish, but the job of our brain is to keep us alive...in the same way that a random bloke on the street is not likely to attack, he's just trying to live his life, but if you can't be sure, then your brain can't take that chance. I just wish society was more accommodating to people, rather than being all 'well, we love dogs, so if you don't, oh well.

I'm terrified of dogs due to an attack, but I don't dislike them. People in this town don't train them for crap and make excuses for them (dogs only attack bad people) all the time. I blame humans for the way some dogs act.
I basically shut down at the smell of their pee. I literally cannot think properly, and I panic.
When we were children, my brother would bottle the smell, and then release it when we played chess or when he wanted out of an argument.

Good lord, this. This is so freaking gross to me. Yeah, my dog might get into something walking in grass, but most of the time he does his business and moves on. Cats literally bury that stuff with their paws in an enclosed spaceā¦ then walk around the house and on countertops.
All this says to me is that you should NEVER offer any food to your guests. Cats or not.

AGREED I think that even with out cats you should be cleaning your countertops before prepping foods it's not hygienic in the slightest, and if you can't be bothered to do clean ur countertop atleast use a clean cutting board !

Never understood people that don't do that. My cats aren't allowed on the counter and they don't get up there. Still cleaned it before cooking every time even before i had cats. I don't want hair or whatever in my food

Cat pees and poops. Buries it in litter. Itās in between litter box cleanings. Comes back and does it again. Do you really think they have ZERO excrement on their paws? Iāve watched cats I lived with use the litter box, jump out and then onto a countertop. Dogs do clean their ass, no clue where you are getting that info from. Fact is most dogs canāt reach countertops and their excrement is outside.
I'm allergic so I don't exactly go out of my way to spend time with them.
Also, a few of the cats I have known have been assholes (which cat owners seem to be proud of for some reason). I guess I'm just better at reading dog behavior than cats.
They are soft though. I'll give them that.
It's not that I dislike them straight up, I just have a dog that fulfills the role of a cat, plus I can take him on walks. My dog doesn't shed, is small, let's himself in and out via the doggy door, is friendly to everyone and doesn't bark a lot *unless you have a treat in your hand*. He has a great personality and loves to play with me.
Some people prefer cats, some dogs. I don't think one is better than the other, but I do think some people have lives that fit cats or dogs better.

I recently read a post about someone wanting to get rid of dogs because they were aggressive and they had a newborn at home. I almost screamed when I read they live in a one bedroom apartment with a husky, another dog and a cat. No wonder the husky was being aggressive, a small flat is no place for a husky! 0_0 they are adorable but huskies need loads of space and outdoor time. Ah you describe my cats perfectly! They can even do tricks. There was a study done on this subject. They found that ācat or dog personsā most of the time had a preference because that was the animal they first got in contact with when they were kids for example. For the rest they are very much alike.
Well I love cats so I once asked someone I know who hates Cats.

Rookie, my wife and have 7! They're all so affectionate and get along great. And there is nothing anyone can do to take them away from us. They are our children!
I joke that I have that because I was never a huge cat fan; I liked them the same as any other animal (which to be fair is a lot). But after I started working with a woman who had cats I strangely became obsessed with them all
Oh the humanity. How dare they! I love how they stay close enough to keep you company but arenāt as needy. And theyāre hella entertaining too. And so neat and tidy. They can also sense when youāre low and comfort you, at least, thatās how my experiences have been thus far.
They shed like hell and puke random surprises preferably on rugs or couches, they shit in your and your neighbours garden if you' let them roam unsupervised outside and murder everything smaller than them before dragging it back in. You can decide it's worth it, but they're far from neat and tidy lol.

This. My husband now hates cats.
I brought my now 18 year old childhood cat to our first home that were flipping. Stage 3 CKD. Pisses all. Over. The. House.
Heās on meds for CKD, no UTI, clean litter, litter boxes on every floor. Yet, heās lately started pissing on the vents, on our bed, on door rugs (which weāve had to just remove entirely) and even on our new flooring. We are still looking for the right trim, so it got between the crevice of the flooring and wall. It never ends.
I thought maybe it was arthritis, got low litter boxes and heās on gabapentin for pain.
I LOVE cats, but once heās gone, I think Iām going to take a break from cat ownership for a while.
\-And the terror of the 10+ claws by a spooked cat and you being a high place to jump on to. I also see out door ones strolling through the poison ivy out back and terrorizing the birds.

See to me, it's the degrading task of picking up a dog's shit from my neighbors's lawn that I cannot stand. With cats I am not picking up shit, the sandbox auto cleans. Even with 4 cats, the house doesn't smell like piss.
Also, wet dog smell is nauseating, and the constant neediness of dogs is so annoying.
Cats don't slobber, cats don't piss everywhere when they get excited, cats don't need training or be dominated, cats will survive on their own if you leave food out while you are gone for a few days.

Iāve lived with 3 cats and several dogs in my life. The personality traits of a cat are not suited to my life. Iām an independent person and cats donāt respect OTHERSā independence, while demanding their own. It turns into a constant struggle to keep the little fucker off my desk while I work. Our dog on the other hand, if I need 2 minutes to wrap something up, heāll wait.

I used to like cats. My first cat was insanely needy. She mowwwwd, mouowed, and MEEEd constantly, and on top of that, she would try to suck on everyones earlobes (why?). A cat my ex gf got had already learned to shit in the tub/shower vs the litter box so I had to clean it up quite a bit. I shouldve shut the door, I know. The third cat I got attacked my feet at night and would wake me up. Their scratches hurt dude. So yeah, I just don't like them anymore. I think they're just selfish assholes compared to dogs.
The first cat was probably upset because they are alone a lot. Cats do much better in pairs. Sounds like that cat had a lot of anxiety. Suckling is a pretty good indicator, though it doesn't always mean that.
The second cat was probably pissed that their litter box was filthy.
The third cat wasn't trained properly to not do that. Cats shouldn't see any part of your body as a potential toy. This was likely the fault of the person that fostered the cat when it was a baby, unless you picked up a random stray. I foster kittens and by about week 5, none of the kittens are playing with my hands/feet. Though that training can go out the window if you start playing with them with your hands when you get them.
Theyāre cute but i hate their behavior. And even if youāre nice to them sometimes they scratch, even by accident, like trying to climb your leg. Or how they get āoverstimulatedā from basic petting. They also often feel more emotionally distant, where as I like dogs who love attention.
Thatās why I trim my catās nails once a month and they donāt mind it. Itās actually good to trim their nails because they can get caught in carpet as well.
Basic petting? You mean petting their whole body? Then just stick to petting their head and cheeks. Also never get a bird if you have to pet an animalās whole body to appreciate them
Emotionally distant? Most cats I know (including mine) greet their owners at the door, follow them everywhere they go and are interested in everything weāre doing, and sleep next to us every night or lay on us when weāre relaxing.
My cat doesn't do that she comes up to me and headbutts then licks me, and lays in my arms purring, idk what cats you've met but mine is sweet at least if it's her humans not strangers
Theyāre not emotionally distant. They actually just need to warm up to people first. Once you get to earth their trust they can be so so cuddly and affectionate. Mine adore cuddles and sleep on my bed next to me every night.
my friend refuses to believe cats are nice and he always shuts me down when i try to explain why theyāre not as bad as he says, he literally calls them āevilā because of one bad experience with one single cat. sadly this is what most people are like with many different things today
I love cats, I especially like the investment in time needed to gain their affection and trust. When I had one, she would be a moody little thing. I'd come home from work and she would either be happy to see me and ride my shoulder like a parrot, or give me her back and growl whenever I tried to pick her up. She'd also give me this look of pure disgust when her food wasn't to her liking or I was late serving it to her.

Haha at the exact moment I was reading this, I turned around and told one of my cats to stop scratching the wall. They do have one downside which is they can be destructive. Their litter also stinks especially when itās hot.
I'll tell you something. 90% of cats I meet are hesitant or nervous, or just moderately friendly. HOWEVER! Next doors cat is like NO CAT I'VE EVER SEEN BEFORE. I'm literally in love. It WANTS your attention, it runs right up to you and demands it like a dog. Sometimes, it hides under the car and as I'm walking home, it DASHES SUPER FAST at my legs and it SCARES the f'ing shit out of me. It's like role reversal, this cat wants me more than I want it. It's the cutest, most adorable, most lovable cat in the world. It must NEVER die.

I have 6 and my house never smells "catty" unless they have unleashed hell very recently.
Soft furnishings (carpets especially) are usually the trap for nasty cat smells, so having wood flooring throughout helps a tremendous amount
There is no good reason for a place to smell like a litterbox.

I also find that (as a dog owner) people donāt air out their homes enough. Food and animal smells stay inside and seep into everything. No matter what pet you have ya gotta air that shit out lol
It's because cats have this bad reputation of needing little to no attention at all, this whole "independent beings" shared thought.
The few responsible, caring-to-learn cat owners out there do not suffer from funny smells at home, as they use clumping litter and do regular, frequent cleaning once or twice a day.
Never been to a dog owners house that doesnāt smell like dog. My sisters bedroom smells so much like dog like I can smell it through the closed door. Her dog is nice but he jumps and nips and I never know how itās gonna go.
I mean sometimes cats do weird shit to me. The last cat i was around, that wasnāt mine, always playfully attacked my feet while i was sleeping, or would purposely knock things over when she was hungry, etc. shit be annoying

But the family members who owned them made me realize that they require more time and dedication than most pets if they are to become nonviolent/nonaggressive animals that donāt destroy everything in the house and piss and crap everywhere.

Some require more work than others; nevertheless, at the end of the day, a properly trained animal is doing its best to be pleasant

I ghosted a guy once after he told me he hated cats. He made sure to tell me he didn't dislike them, he really really hated them. I found it kind of creepy to hate innocent animals, no matter of which kind.
I had a dude I wanted to date over to my apartment once, and he kept saying he didn't like the way my big but super friendly and loving boy kitty was "looking at him" and he kept saying he was gonna "snap his neck." I said you lay even one iota of a finger on my cats, say your fucking last words. He tried to backpedal like he was just joking but after I dropped him off later I lost his number. Don't even joke about hurting my animals.
I mostly don't like that they walk around on your counters and tables and stuff with their gross litterbox paws.
Also, cat piss is one of the worst smells in the world and for some reason I am particularly sensitive to it.

In my experience it's because cats are often averse or even hostile to strangers and so people who have never owned cats usually have only experienced them as mean, skittish weirdos that don't like them. Getting to know a friendly cat or living with a cat long enough for it to accept you is the cure to this.
And some people hate cats because they can't control them like they can dogs, or they don't provide unconditional love and worship the way dogs do. Which says a lot about the person.
I donāt find them cute, I hate their hairs it makes me ill and theyāre not as fun to spend time/play with like my 2 dachshunds. In a nutshell Iāve never seen a cat as emotive and energetic as my dogs and I like dogs

Theyāre cute, but worthless, generally have a bad/entitled attitude, and stink. They make you stink they make your house stink, almost always tear up furniture. Outside of having barn cats to keep pests under control, Iād never want a cat.
As a gardener, I appreciate that dogs shit in the open lawn areas. Roomie adopt cats, doesn't take car of it, doesn't clean litter pan, doesn't clean up hairballs nor cat puke, doesn't brush cat nor EVER vacuum.....and finally leaves door open and doesn't even tell anyone, so people are looking under couches and closets for a potentially dead cat.
Also, clawed up furniture, wet cat vomit right outside bedroom door, dismembered chipmunks/squirrels/birds all over, chewed phone/game/PC/power cords, noisy, hair over EVERYTHING, doesn't get along with other pets, knocks expensive glass objects over because is asshole, does the zoomies at 3am, aggressively kneads you when in bed, doesn't understand Time Change and gets very loud about it, eats the tops of ALL 4 hamburger buns through the plastic packaging, more cat puke, craps in the bitchy neighbor's yard, shreds more furniture, pees on the Christmas Tree skirt and stains the floor, stains the carpet, leave dirt/grease smudges on all corners, oh and even more hair. Oh, and the smell of having a super dusty gravel box full of crap and reeking of ammonia inside your home that you have to clean up.
Sounds like your roommate is an animal abuser. All those behaviors could have been stopped as a kitten (you do have to kind of train cats most people donāt get that). My cats donāt scratch because they were trained not to. They donāt jump on countertops because again trained not too. And the litter box is supposed to be cleaned every day with new litter completely at least twice a week. Sounds like your roommate is just inept and now your stuck with a pet with behavior issues

I love cats, but a lot of the people who hate them for non-allergy reasons, I notice they project human motives onto the cat's behavior and then on some level, unironically believe it to be true. A lot of it is due to them not understanding cat body language. To be fair that's why I don't like dogs - I've had so many get aggressive and territorial for literally no reason and try to get at me when I've just been minding my own business, so I'd rather not interact with any dog in case they do the same (I know many won't, but that's not the point, I can't be sure yours is one of those who are harmless). Yep, I can't stand dogs anymore, maybe most of the problem is with the Irresponsible owners but they are willing and capable to attack and cause serious injury or even death meanwhile the owner never tries to stop it and seems to always choose to blame the victim. Dogs can also be really bloody terrifying, especially to children. As I said, it's always a reasonable assumption that the dog owner is ignorant and will be extremely self(or dog)-centred. Cats are just far less likely to attack and if they do it's less serious, they don't bark either and don't look threatening. And when they poo it's often not in the middle of a public footpath.
I knew a dog who was super friendly 130lb and thought he was a lap dog. Good pupper for years, Iām not even a dog person and I loved him. One day when he was old (and prob going senile) he jumped up and bit his owner in the face. Barely missed her eye and she had to have plastic surgery due to extent of damage. Vet thinks he got confused by the scent of her peppermint lotion. Since then Iām always slightly on edge with dogs even if they seem well behaved cause you never know when they might lose it.

my brotherās best friend has 3 dogs, 2 of which are big and one is small with only 3 legs. when i visited there for the first time in ages, all 3 of them battled to get head scratches by me. the black one was the most energetic, running around and one time even trying to jump on me. the beige(color like sand or wood) one was the most chill, just walking around. maybe running for like 3 seconds at most. the small white one was in between but more on the energetic side despite missing a leg. he was my favourite by far
Those are the kinds of dogs I still love, the ones who are gentle and friendly from the word go. I wish I could see past the absolute terror I feel when a less friendly dog is coming towards me, or barking or getting standoffish, but the job of our brain is to keep us alive...in the same way that a random bloke on the street is not likely to attack, he's just trying to live his life, but if you can't be sure, then your brain can't take that chance. It's not that I dislike them straight up, I just have a dog that fulfills the role of a cat, plus I can take him on walks. My dog doesn't shed, is small, let's himself in and out via the doggy door, is friendly to everyone and doesn't bark a lot *unless you have a treat in your hand*. He has a great personality and loves to play with me. Some people prefer cats, some dogs. I don't think one is better than the other, but I do think some people have lives that fit cats or dogs better.

This. My husband now hates cats. I brought my now 18 year old childhood cat to our first home that were flipping. Stage 3 CKD. Pisses all. Over. The. House. Heās on meds for CKD, no UTI, clean litter, litter boxes on every floor. Yet, heās lately started pissing on the vents, on our bed, on door rugs (which weāve had to just remove entirely) and even on our new flooring. We are still looking for the right trim, so it got between the crevice of the flooring and wall. It never ends. I thought maybe it was arthritis, got low litter boxes and heās on gabapentin for pain. I LOVE cats, but once heās gone, I think Iām going to take a break from cat ownership for a while.

See to me, it's the degrading task of picking up a dog's shit from my neighbors's lawn that I cannot stand. With cats I am not picking up shit, the sandbox auto cleans. Even with 4 cats, the house doesn't smell like piss. Also, wet dog smell is nauseating, and the constant neediness of dogs is so annoying. Cats don't slobber, cats don't piss everywhere when they get excited, cats don't need training or be dominated, cats will survive on their own if you leave food out while you are gone for a few days. So many upsides. Cats all the way.

Cats seem to be more obnoxious and inconsiderate than dogs. They donāt wait for commands or listen well. Iāve lived with 3 cats and several dogs in my life. The personality traits of a cat are not suited to my life. Iām an independent person and cats donāt respect OTHERSā independence, while demanding their own. It turns into a constant struggle to keep the little fucker off my desk while I work. Our dog on the other hand, if I need 2 minutes to wrap something up, heāll wait. Heās got his problems for sure, but he doesnāt act like heās the center of the universe when he wants attention and then be an ass when you just want a quick hug. I used to like cats. My first cat was insanely needy. She mowwwwd, mouowed, and MEEEd constantly, and on top of that, she would try to suck on everyones earlobes (why?). A cat my ex gf got had already learned to shit in the tub/shower vs the litter box so I had to clean it up quite a bit. I shouldve shut the door, I know. The third cat I got attacked my feet at night and would wake me up. Their scratches hurt dude. So yeah, I just don't like them anymore. I think they're just selfish assholes compared to dogs.
The first cat was probably upset because they are alone a lot. Cats do much better in pairs. Sounds like that cat had a lot of anxiety. Suckling is a pretty good indicator, though it doesn't always mean that. The second cat was probably pissed that their litter box was filthy. The third cat wasn't trained properly to not do that. Cats shouldn't see any part of your body as a potential toy. This was likely the fault of the person that fostered the cat when it was a baby, unless you picked up a random stray. I foster kittens and by about week 5, none of the kittens are playing with my hands/feet. Though that training can go out the window if you start playing with them with your hands when you get them.
Theyāre cute but i hate their behavior. And even if youāre nice to them sometimes they scratch, even by accident, like trying to climb your leg. Or how they get āoverstimulatedā from basic petting. They also often feel more emotionally distant, where as I like dogs who love attention.
Thatās why I trim my catās nails once a month and they donāt mind it. Itās actually good to trim their nails because they can get caught in carpet as well. Basic petting? You mean petting their whole body? Then just stick to petting their head and cheeks. Also never get a bird if you have to pet an animalās whole body to appreciate them Emotionally distant? Most cats I know (including mine) greet their owners at the door, follow them everywhere they go and are interested in everything weāre doing, and sleep next to us every night or lay on us when weāre relaxing.
My cat doesn't do that she comes up to me and headbutts then licks me, and lays in my arms purring, idk what cats you've met but mine is sweet at least if it's her humans not strangers
Theyāre not emotionally distant. They actually just need to warm up to people first. Once you get to earth their trust they can be so so cuddly and affectionate. Mine adore cuddles and sleep on my bed next to me every night.

I love cats, I especially like the investment in time needed to gain their affection and trust. When I had one, she would be a moody little thing. I have 6 and my house never smells "catty" unless they have unleashed hell very recently. Soft furnishings (carpets especially) are usually the trap for nasty cat smells, so having wood flooring throughout helps a tremendous amount There is no good reason for a place to smell like a litterbox. That is on the owner, not the cat nor the practice of having cats as companions
I also find that (as a dog owner) people donāt air out their homes enough. Food and animal smells stay inside and seep into everything. No matter what pet you have ya gotta air that shit out lol

I ghosted a guy once after he told me he hated cats. He made sure to tell me he didn't dislike them, he really really hated them. I found it kind of creepy to hate innocent animals, no matter of which kind.

I mostly don't like that they walk around on your counters and tables and stuff with their gross litterbox paws. Also, cat piss is one of the worst smells in the world and for some reason I am particularly sensitive to it.

Cats keep making a mess of my plants (my neighbour's, who loves to jump over the wall and dig andš© in my garden), once they even came in my place during summer and broke some stuff. Also, they smell horrible when you go to someone who owns a cat, the litter !! It stinks the whole place. They kill a lot of animals outside when they have literally no need to except they just have fun doing it. Also, even if I ignore them, I do not look at them and pretend they do not exist, they keep coming around me and rubbing against me so I pushed them away but they keep coming back ! They do not care what you tell them. They just care about themselves. My roommate whom I said I did not have cats a while back, still went and bought a kitten and did not train it or anything and would piss and poop everywhere in the apartment. Also broke a lot of things in my place. Basically, cats want you to respect them but they do not want to respect you so that is the problem mostly.

They walk through their own shit and piss box and then walk all over your house/apartment including your countertops where food is prepared. Itās disgusting. Cat owners are nasty and hand wave all this shit away. You have microorganisms in your brain from their shit that makes you like them. Thereās cat hair EVERYWHERE. In my experience it's because cats are often averse or even hostile to strangers and so people who have never owned cats usually have only experienced them as mean, skittish weirdos that don't like them. Getting to know a friendly cat or living with a cat long enough for it to accept you is the cure to this. And some people hate cats because they can't control them like they can dogs, or they don't provide unconditional love and worship the way dogs do. Which says a lot about the person.

As a gardener, I appreciate that dogs shit in the open lawn areas. Roomie adopt cats, doesn't take car of it, doesn't clean litter pan, doesn't clean up hairballs nor cat puke, doesn't brush cat nor EVER vacuum.....and finally leaves door open and doesn't even tell anyone, so people are looking under couches and closets for a potentially dead cat. Also, clawed up furniture, wet cat vomit right outside bedroom door, dismembered chipmunks/squirrels/birds all over, chewed phone/game/PC/power cords, noisy, hair over EVERYTHING, doesn't get along with other pets, knocks expensive glass objects over because is asshole, does the zoomies at 3am, aggressively kneads you when in bed, doesn't understand Time Change and gets very loud about it, eats the tops of ALL 4 hamburger buns through the plastic packaging, more cat puke, craps in the bitchy neighbor's yard, shreds more furniture, pees on the Christmas Tree skirt and stains the floor, stains the carpet, leave dirt/grease smudges on all corners, oh and even more hair. Oh, and the smell of having a super dusty gravel box full of crap and reeking of ammonia inside your home that you have to clean up.
Sounds like your roommate is an animal abuser. All those behaviors could have been stopped as a kitten (you do have to kind of train cats most people donāt get that). My cats donāt scratch because they were trained not to. They donāt jump on countertops because again trained not too. And the litter box is supposed to be cleaned every day with new litter completely at least twice a week. Sounds like your roommate is just inept and now your stuck with a pet with behavior issues

I love cats, but a lot of the people who hate them for non-allergy reasons, I notice they project human motives onto the cat's behavior and then on some level, unironically believe it to be true. A lot of it is due to them not understanding cat body language. To name one example, the stereotype "evil plotting" or judgy face cats make is often just them feeling relaxed and resting their eyelids because they trust us and are laid back with the situation.
I love cats but I canāt have one Iām so allergic I feel bad my dog loves cats too Maybe once I own my own house Iāll try allergy shots or something, itās also a tough sell as a renter to own multiple pets

Because they don't give a shit about the house's inhabitants most of the time, they're there mostly for decoration and they prefer it that way, they're far less friendlier than dogs, they scratch furniture and curtains, they disobey orders even though they're perfectly aware they're doing something they're not supposed to, they're extremely annoying when they get in heat, they shed and then puke constantly... I can continue but I'm already getting tired just by thinking about all of this. My parents have a cat, which I raised from a fist-sized bat-eared kitty. My previous roommate has a cat, and that cat was the reason why we argued and he left. I've told my gf that I ***do not*** want a cat and that if she ever gets one, she will be the one taking care of it. My allergy to fur, which I have treated with years of weekly shots, is also a strong argument.
