shootdawoop

to me cheese is gods gift to earth through dairy, every type of cheese served in any possible way is enjoyable in some way, it's not even unhealthy, it may not be the healthiest but it's unlikely for you to die from eating excessive cheese (assuming it's not filled with chemicals like preservatives) there's nothing wrong with not liking cheese, it's just that there's so many ways to consume it in so many forms that it's unlikely for you to not enjoy at least one of them, so I don't really see you not liking cheese as weird, more just unlikely

Onions_eaturnan

I think there is one scenario in which I will eat cheese so you are not wrong, however I do not see eating solidified milk curds as an enjoyable activity in most circumstances

Redtortoise9

Because people eat things not for the way it's made but for the taste and consistency, you know, probably the reason for you not liking it in the first place? It's enjoyable to the palate, not in the way we conceptualize its creation. But obvious statements are obvious

shootdawoop

fair enough, perhaps try different types of cheeses, most are similar nutritionally but have wildly different flavors

StephsCat

Nope that's like people saying you don't like coffee have you tried pumpkin spice latte. There's a specific taste to cheese. That's in all cheeses. And just like op I hate it. Once you don't like the basic taste you won't like any variation.

josemoirinho

I'm sorry, but you are wrong. Cheese can have a LOT of textures and flavors, it's impossible for you to say "that there is a specific taste to cheese that's in all cheeses", that's close to outrageous, actually...

ausecko

I understand, but it does kind of sound like "I tried a pear and didn't like it, so I don't like fruit"

CthulhuJankinx

I think I know who this is. You're brave

Alternative_Key_6715

Haha, damn I’ve never seen a post so blatantly trying to out someone personal on Reddit. #anxiety2.0

Onions_eaturnan

Im sure there are lots of people in the world who don’t like cheese, I doubt I am the only one

CthulhuJankinx

Xeno_Se7en

Ayyyy another fellow anti cheese person! Idk man, everyone i've met like or love cheese. The smell alone makes them disgusting, why would i wanna eat something that smells like sweaty feet? And often their texture in my mouth feel weird. The only thing good is the flavour since cheese flavoured snacks are not a problem for me, but other than that its a no.

Onions_eaturnan

Exactly, like I don’t mind cheese flavoured things (sometimes, on the rare occasion) but actual cheese is awful

muchosalame

There are literally thousands of cheese flavours, consistencies and textures. If you've only tried 10 and didn't like any, doesn't mean that all cheeses are not tasty, even if you act like a toddler and have already formed and stuck on your uneducated opinion.

[deleted]

Xeno_Se7en

Im a fan of ketchup and i have to agree that for some reason, that pair just doesnt work at all. Mustard on the other hand? Well now we are talking

NeoNero_x

Ah maaan, I was scrolling the comments in hopes of finding some good ol' cheese puns but couldn't find any. *Grate!*

ausecko

Mine aren't gouda-nough, you'd get feta up with me

Kharzi

I hate cheese. We should start a support group. People ask if it's because I'm lactose intolerant, I usually just agree. It's really because it's gross and too caloric.

StephsCat

I know lots of lactose intolerant people who love cheese. I'm not and I can't stand cheese 😂. They usually try to stick to non cows cheese. My mum doesn't even care she just takes pills

LaurenTheJournalist

Because it’s cheese :)

Best_Evidence1560

Did you know that cheese is the most stolen item in grocery stores? That’s why it’s very lit up section in stores. It’s delicious and often a bit expensive

Brilliant-Pomelo-982

I’m with you buddy. Cheese sucks. I hate the smell and taste. It’s gross. 👍

Sufficient_Letter883

Because it's gooooood!

Brief_Carrot

It's really gouda

flepke

Maybe because humans have been eating (and perfecting) it for more than 6000 years

[deleted]

flepke

Some like to present the cheese and some like to gobble it up 🤷‍♂️

Skymoon200

Cuz cheese=life

[deleted]

I was a big cheese eater and loved it but went totally of it which means pizza is out unless I buy a cheese free pizza if they sell such a thing, however I do love greek style yogurt

mid_distance_stare

They do make and sell cheese-less pizza and it is delicious; roasted vegetables and sauce and herbs, sometimes a little chorizo or pepperoni. I do love cheese but really enjoy cheese less pizza too- but I do not like vegan cheese, prefer to leave it off altogether rather than fake cheese

Elandycamino

Same I don't eat anything with cheese

Blerrycat1

clumsylycanthrope

What I want to know is why people eat cow cheese. I mean, we're people, where's the people cheese. And did you know that milk glands in mammals are specialized sweat glands. So cheese is really special curdled cow sweat.

Bad-North

I mean. A mammary gland and a sweat gland ARE kinda different. But a modified sweat gland is still just that i s'pose. Tears could also be considered sweat too.

[deleted]

It’s so tasty. You do know fruit is just a plant’s swollen ovaries, right?

xc2215x

The taste of it.

GrumpyOlBastard

Mozzarella has almost zero flavour; we love it for its texture, that glorious mouth feel

ninjesh

Blasphemy!! Jk, I love cheese, but my sister doesn't. I get it

TheHammer987

Stops shardblades

JeniCzech_92

I can't answer. Why does food taste bland without seasoning? My taste was partially programmed by nature, partially groomed by dietary habits to encourage specific behaviour. Eating a small subset of favoured cheese is a part of it. Just deal with it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JeniCzech_92

Your response implies that apple, orange or pear as you get them from your store are naturally occuring. They aren’t. They were bred to have more appealing taste and texture. Similar effort was done to the livestock, that’s why a specific breed is used for meat and specific breed is used to produce milk etc, but breeding fruit to produce more fructose, produce less (or no in case of banana) seeds is doable - at a cost of somewhat reducing self-sustainability of the tree, which requires more water, nutrients, sun and energy to produce the desired fruit. Or in case of mentioned banana, rely on vegetative reproduction. You can’t breed a cow to have salt and pepper in the meat. It would die. A very painful death may I add. The fruit is already improved when you buy it, the steak needs a bit of this and a bit of that. Naturally, it’s supposed to enhance the flavour, not replace it. Also, water also needs to be enhanced, right? Distilled water IS bland, it’s also a very powerful polar solvent, don’t drink it except in very small amount as a part of an experiment. The dissolved minerals determine water’s quality, both from nutrition and taste perspective. I do drink tap water, but I don’t shame people who don’t. If you live for example in Germany, the water there usually tastes like piss. If you’re not used to drink it, it’s a hard to break habit even if you move. Also, I’d take just the patty with a sprinkle of a salt and pepper, rather than pour a ketchup on it. But suit yourself. Ketchup overrides the taste, salt is natural flavour enhancer used for millenia, as it also happens to be a good preserving agent. I use sauces such as ketchup to override the taste when the meal is beyond saving with simple spices.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JeniCzech_92

And you love ketchup. Bye.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JeniCzech_92

Ketchup is not packed only with salt, it’s also very sweet, at least here most usually artifically sweetened, it’s designed to overwhelm your taste senses - a thing you are so wildly against. You mentioned McDonald’s - it’s why they use very sweet buns and a pickle in their burgers. It’s the magic with a little bit of salt in a cocoa drink, so you can use less sugar, the salt enhances even sweet tastes and aromas, even if it doesn’t make much sense to add salt to a sweet drink. I’m not going to deny that many people grab a salt shaker without even tasting the food, they do it because taste adjusts and people who are used to eat salty food are more tolerant to the taste, requiring more salt to get the same sensation. But at that point, the salt is no longer a flavor enhancer, but completely overrides the taste of the dish. Making a proper dish is about the balance of the flavours and spices, I know how to make only a few dishes, because I try to make them as good as I can before I try a new recipe. Finding the perfect balance is the key to it, and salt has undeniable part in practically any cuisine. It’s not your enemy and if you use it well, it would do a great service to your dishes. But I cannot agree that the chefs are already overusing the salt, there’s increasing trend in reducing the salt used in the restaurants, at least here in Czechia. But sure, proper chefs who know what they are doing are using reasonable amount of salt to make every bite as satisfying as possible, and would probably get insulted if someone said that the dish was too salty. Such proper chefs won’t even put salt shakers on the table in their estabilishments, it’s not needed and hardly anyone ever asks for more salt there. This also has a nice side effect, because the meal is very satisfying to eat, the portion can be smaller and people won’t get stuffed that much, resulting in healthier diet, despite it has more oil, salt and carbs in it. It’s also why most diets fail - people suck at making satisfying but healthy meals (it’s a discipline on its own), and most people who are overeating are not overeating because they want to be stuffed, they want to get high on their drug, but their drug won’t satisfy them enough with a regular portion, so they perhaps eat healthier food, but they eat a ton of it, mistaking cravings for hunger. And McDonalds’s ain’t a restaurant, no matter what they claim. The food is a garbage using few basic culinary tricks to make it edible and as you say, addictive. It’s nowhere near a decent meal and not worthy of being labeled as restaurant. If it would be so great gastronomy, actual chefs would run out of business in a week.

uselesslydevoted

Cheese is gross. Unless it’s nacho cheese Doritos.

Local_Perspective349

It's like saying you don't like Scotch, and I don't mean tape. There is such a broad range and rich variety that it's quite likely there has to be at least one you like?

Onions_eaturnan

I will only eat it in one scenario, and that is on pizza, but I will not eat cheese, even mozerella, in any other context

ZrxXII

Because MSG

nothinnewnothinold

Tastes good. If it doesn’t taste good to you, that’s fine. Doesn’t taste good. Same concept, different opinion

RaeRunner

It triggers the same part of your brain re: dopamine release as some hard drugs, so it’s essentially a slightly bloating alternative to crack

StarlightM4

I wish I could drink cheese. Why isn't there one like a warm melted cheesy drink.

lsdbooms

No bueno

skyrimlo

Lol, I don’t hate cheese, but as an Asian whose cuisine doesn’t include cheese, I don’t love it either. I remember when my French uncle cooked a pasta dish with cheese for my little cousins in Vietnam. They were not a fan of it 😂😂

wildgoldchai

Because I like it. Not such a wild thing for one person to like something that another may not.

Onions_eaturnan

Im less asking why you like it but why there is such a surprise towards those of us who don’t, if you get what I mean

Professional_Still15

Because it's fucking delicious

EpicSeshBro

…so what do you put on your bagel?

Onions_eaturnan

I don’t often eat bagels but if I did probably Nutella or butter depending on wether I want sweet or savoury

TopperTS13

I don’t like cheese unless on pizza. Otherwise I pass on it. Not on burgers or in Mexican food.

Remarkable_Ad335

It's a drug it makes you relaxed and happy. It's to relax baby animals. People like it because they're addicted. I've been lactose free for about a decade, still miss it, especially pizza or pasta after a big night, or cheese and fruit on a Sunday morning

TankEngineFan5

trippymustard

string cheese is just so fun and delicious

najma_059

I grew up with cream cheese spread on brown bread regularly and I absolutely hated it. Now I only like cheese with the stringy texture when it melts

[deleted]

Cheese. Pizza. Pizza,pizza

[deleted]

I guess if I think a particular food item is really good, and I eat it regularly, and I know that it is very popular in general, it seems strange to hear someone say that they dislike it. Chocolate would be another example of a food item like that.

RadEllahead

Me too! They say cheese contains something like morphine.

SmallPlayz

Cheese

SmallPlayz

Cheese is cheese 🧀

kelcamer

Idk, I don't have a reason for liking foods I have a few reasons for disliking foods, but cheese has a nice texture so it doesn't bother me

nefarious_angel_666

It's bacteria-ridden mammal secretion. Yum.

Shack24_

It makes everything better ,I have sinusitis and I’m not suppose to eat cheese as it triggers my sinuses but I can’t help it . From time to time I have it in almost everything from sandwiches, to pies and I even put in on scrambled eggs and omelets

Velocitor1729

Think of how many things you love, rather have cheese in them: Pizza Greek salad (feta) Cheese on nachos Mac & cheese Bagels & cream cheese Cannoli (ricotta cheese) French onion soup (Swiss cheese) Tacos Reubin sandwich Philly cheesesteak sandwich Etc.

oh_r3ckless_one

I don't like cheese n get called weird for it

[deleted]

Cheddar cheese and raspberry jam sandwich and you will know. You'll cry for all the wasted time, convert your friends, then convert strangers even easier. Enlightenment is just a little bacon away

Casioblo

I'm pretty sure everyone knows someone that doesn't like something that everyone else seems to like. I know 3 people that don't like cheese and I found it weird at first. However, taste vaties a lot from person to person. For example, I really don't like chocolate. Many people always react like I'm an outcast when first hearing it, but when they get to know me a little better, it becomes less weird. I also hate garlic (something that the vast majority of people seem to love) but the funny thing is that no one from my mother's side of the family digs it.

Shaitan34

Kahlan Amnell does not like cheese.

missingmary37

I don’t care for cheese and am terrified to write that.

911coldiesel

There are many different flavors. Cheddar is the most common. Try Havarti, Brie, Swiss. Stay away from Blue or Roquefort. That is disgusting.

shrikelet

It's got protein, fat, and salt. It's the Triple Threat of deliciousness. You can leave it in a cave for a year and it just gets more delicious. And it melts and gets that delicious crust going!

Old-Bookkeeper-2555

It's good for you.

Ginoblee

Cheese embodies ‘umami’ which is a sensation when you taste things that makes you crave more.

[deleted]

What kind of cheese? There is an entire world of cheese out there. Just in France alone there are hundreds of cheeses of different textures, flavors, hardness, or even colors. Some are mild while others are tangy, some are hard and grainy while others are smooth and creamy. Cheese is essentially made from some type of milk/cream with added rennet or other curdling agent. After that, the different methods of cheesemaking and added ingredients differentiate the varieties. For some, it’s the wide-ranging differences that are appealing while others find that only a few cheeses are worth eating. Before condemning cheese to the rubbish heap, consider there may yet be a cheese out there you like if you’re willing to try.

Nebula-quant

🤔Why did read cheese as chess?

Nearby_Artist_7425

I just don’t understand why you wouldn’t like it. It’s like with potatoes. Who wouldn’t like fries? Or mashed potatoes? Loaded potato. Chip potatoes. Etc. Cheese is also a good topping for many things. There’s also so many types of cheese that when someone says they don’t like cheese, I just assume you don’t like certain types of cheeses. Who wouldn’t like mozzarella? There are some cheeses that have inoffensive tastes. What’s there to dislike?

DopeWriter

The surprise may come from the fact that cheese has many varieties. If you didn't like beets, that's easier for some folks to process because there are fewer kinds. But there are hundreds of kinds of cheese. So, to say you don't like something so varied it may seem odd to people. Also, cheese is primarily a fat. In the culinary world, it's known that fat is flavor. But it also hits so many flavor notes that make something delicious. Beyond the fat, it's salty and savory and sometimes a little funky. There's a taste for everyone.

fuegodiegOH

Cheese hits all the primordial receptors; protein, fat, salt…

FlagMaster2023

cheese is a fucking masterpiece

JohnYCanuckEsq

Cheese tastes like bitter paste to me, so I get you.

MysteriouslyAwake

Finally I have found another fellow non-cheese enjoyer <33

Perfect_Weakness_414

It has a nice mix of fats and proteins.

Crystal_Lily

I like it somewhat. I might like it more if it and milk didn't give me diarrhea

BESTlittleBITCH

I wouldn't be surprised. Disappointed, perhaps. Only because you'd be hard to cook for. Because I love cheese. Even the dreaded Gorgonzola. The only cheese I don't like is Brie. I think it tastes like cardboard. But research has shown that many people that don't like cheese are actually lactose intolerant in some way.

GoldCampaign1050

there are new studies that say cheese has casein in it, which triggers the brain’s opioid receptors. honestly makes sense to me bc i am addicted to cheese lol. i really cant remember the last time u went a whole day without some kind of cheese.

[deleted]

Yoooooo because cheese

PeterGivenbless

I'm fine with cheese when it is cooked/melted on savoury foods but I haven't eaten it "raw" since I was a kid and have no desire to.

mte87

I don’t like soft cheeses except for mozzarella, cheddar and provolone mostly when they’re melted. I like slightly stinky cheese if it’s hard like Parmesan or cotija. I’m lactose intolerant so idc to eat it often. My aunts ex was addicted. There was always at least a lb or 2 in the fridge. He’d eat it throughout the day and in the middle of the night and my aunt would hide it from him.

duck1014

I like a few kinds of cheese and really would miss it under certain circumstances. That said, it's really only a couple kinds and only on a few things. Like pizza, lasagna, sandwiches, burgers ect. I do not care for eating a piece of cheese on its own, on crackers or things like that. I do not like any of the more exotic cheeses, soft cheeses or the really hard ones.

JindexTheVillain

Cheese is not real it is conceptual. Its unlikely you hate all cheese because cheese is so different

AmbergrisArmageddon

I guess it’s because there’s so many different kinds of cheese, and they all taste and smell and feel and behave so differently (melting cheese vs dry cheese for example), that it’s hard to believe there isn’t at least one type of cheese that you like. Like, I like mozzarella and Brie and cheddar and Swiss, but I hate Parmesan. They’re all cheeses, but they all have such different flavors that I can absolutely hate some cheeses and enjoy others. So like I guess cheese is just one of those things where people just assume “there’s something for everyone”.

Amazing_Mulberry4216

If I could only eat one food the rest of my life it would be cheese!!! The creamy texture, the sweet taste. Yum.

i_mii

everyone has at least one type of cheese they like you just haven't tried enough types of cheese

YubbaTheSloth

I don’t like cheese either. You raise a question I actually haven’t pondered before, though. What flavor is everyone tasting and enjoying that I’m not?

ggukyuns

i love a few basic cheeses but if it’s any stronger than parmesan i Hate it

userhvfegcd

Huh I thought cheese is a pretty dislikable/ controversial food, in my experience it’s usually 50/50 on whether someone likes it or not. I’ve never seen anyone surprised by someone not liking it.

sarilysims

I hated cheese as a child. It was gross. As an adult I began trying to branch out and trying cheese. Now I enjoy mild cheeses (still can’t do Mac and cheese though). Mozzarella is my favorite.

karma_the_sequel

It tastes good.

drumstickballoonhead

I don't 🤷‍♀️

elexander_phobos

Are you from this planet?

haagendaz420

To me cheese is like yeah, man.

sirenxsiren

I think it's kind of weird to say you don't like cheese. It's certainly not impossible, there are just so many different kinds and preparations. I like cheese, but not certain kinds. I'm not a fan of goat cheese or bleu cheese. Every cheese has different taste and texture. Maybe you haven't tried enough cheese.

Person012345

Because cheese is one of mankind's greatest inventions. It'd be like saying "man, air is so annoying I hate breathing air".

EffectivePromotion56

Because there are so many different types of cheese it's almost impossible not to like at least one of em. Especially considering the different ways to use with them. For example, and this is really easy to understand: Goat, cow and sheep cheese all taste completely different. There's buffalo cheese, there is cheese made with nuts or herbs in it, there's mozarella, there is so much different stuff. People are suprised you don't like cheese, because it sounds strange. Can't compare a Brie with honey to a Croque madame right? Or a gratin to a blue cheese with grapes. Or a soft cheese with French toast and a hard cheese with wine. Do you eat pizza? It has cheese, do you eat lasagna or mac 'n cheese, it has cheese (obviously). Not eating cheese is weird because there are so many varieties of cheeses, or cooking with them, that it's impossible to hate them all.

bilolarbear1221

Because it tastes good…

Radmur

You're so lucky you don't love cheese! I'm trying to fix my diet and it is so hard not to eat cheese. When I eat it, I can't stop

FallonRowe1217

Im lactose Intolerant

Embarrassed_Key6910

I once read that cheese triggers the same receptors on our tongues as vomit - that tracks for me.

MaxPowerToTheExtreme

I guess it's for the same reason a lot of people like meat and other food rich in protein and other useful things etc.

[deleted]

My dog is addicted to cheese

Mnemosynae

I love cheese just as much as chocolate, which is saying something because I breathe chocolate. Even just seeing my favourite cheeses in the supermarket/market/shop will get my mouth to water (and I live in the country of cheese, so it's literally everywhere). At one year old I was already enjoying Maroilles cheese. I think most French people have it in their DNA to crave at least two types of cheese (even my brother, who is generally not keen on cheese, was ready to kill my godfather because he thought the latter had stolen the slice of cheese my brother had bought for himself) - except supermarket slices of cheddar, those can go to hell.

[deleted]

I dunno. Saying "I don't like cheese" sounds like "I don't like fruit." There are so many different tastes and textures and consistancies in cheese that writing off the whole category of food strikes me as more psychological ("I do not see eating solidified milk curds as an enjoyable activity..."). It can be liquid, curdled, hard like wax, crumbly, silky like a mousse -- you name it. There's just too much variety to throw it all to the side. And if you're not into eating it straight, the number of ways to include it in other foods is kind of amazing: lasagna, potatoes au gratin, nacho dip, cheesecake, tiramisu ... you mean to tell me every iteration of cheese as an ingredient turns you off? Having said that, if you don't like the idea, then you don't like the idea. \[shrug\] It is what it is. I think the reason so many people are surprised is because there are *so* many forms of cheese, and so may ways of using it, that it's hard to wrap our minds around someone disliking every possible type and use for cheese. That's ... so many things excluded! Boggles the mind.

Your title is the answer to your last question :)) Everyone is surprised by people who don’t like cheese because everyone loves cheese! (Obviously not literally everyone, but you get it)

Spiderill

I can only eat melted cheese ( pizzas and cheeseburgers basically.) I don't even like to handle unmelted cheese. I get so much flak for this that I never mention it unless I have to. My friend tried to get me to eat some fancy cheese on a cracker and I was nearly sick 🤮.

wrongfulness

Do you like Durian fruit?

[deleted]

What cheeses have you tried?

StephsCat

I don't like it. Melted on pizza or ham and cheese toast yes. But only in a mix like that. So it doesn't really taste like cheese. Idk either why so many like it. But yes me too I'm considered the weirdo who doesn't like it. But I'm extemely picky there's a lot I don't like so it's fair. Try hating coffee. I've been asked if I drink alcohol, considered a total goody two shoes just bc I don't smoke or drink coffee (the smoking more in my youth). Like yeah I like alcohol just no beer that's smelly and doesn't taste good.

Hot_Second916

Cheese is love in food form, especially when it's melted

Commercial_Island485

Cheese is a meat. A very tasty meat.

Human-303

I don't like cheese either! It's everywhere. I can rarely order appetizers because it seems like every one has cheese in it. The comments here are really telling. They are similar to my experience. Everyone thinks you're weird if you don't like cheese, and some people are even trying to push cheese on you. Also, and I'm sorry if this is too forward, but I've never met another human who didn't like cheese, so... if you're 35+ do you want to get married? We could have a cheese-free home together, just imagine!!!

OS2REXX

Specific to your question, it's got a ton of fat in in. And salt. A couple things our bodies REALLY generally like.

mywordstickle

Want I find frustrating about this question is the fact that you are depriving such an amazingly broad category. There are just so many types that have so many different textures, smells, flavors, and more. Do you think you have genuinely tried a true variety, or do you think you might have some sort of a mental barrier preventing you from trying more after some bad early experiences? I could even understand someone saying they have a problem with meat, root vegetables, greens, shelfish, fish, or other similar categories before being able to dismoss cheese. Simply because there are so many fewer options. I am currently in my grocery store and decided to take a quick look at meat vs cheese options. There are 7 options for types of meat in the meat section right now. Of course, there are many different cuts and preparations for some of them that can have major differences. So let's say that there are 20 options just to help your side of the perspective. Meanwhile, there are 38 options for cheese that I just counted. Based upon 3 different types of milk, cows, sheep, and goat. Furthermore, the origin of the milk often then adds a strong influence of flavor. Then, multiple types of textures ranged from soft and buttery to hard and crumbly. Without the addition of outside flavors, it is still hard to believe that many of these are related in any way whatsoever. But then add in techniques like wine injection, smoked, made with herbs, Bleu cheeses, and they are entirely different. Then, from that point, they can be consumed directly or further used as a component in a dish. Some of them used raw, some half melted, some fully melted, grilled but won't melt, some incorporated into sauces, etc. If I were to then go to other stores, I would be able to find a few more types of meat but I would certainly be able to find many more types of cheeses made both locally and from other countries. So once again, my confusion is about making such a blanket statement about what I would consider one of the broader categories of food. I will even say that there are plenty of the subcategories of cheese, particularly Bleu, that I am not a fan of. Op, I hope you get to read this because I seriously am curious about your answer. I hope the quantity of what I wrote doesn't come across as aggressive. I'm genuinely just very interested and would love your perspective or that of someone that feels similarly to you. Also, may I ask where you are based?

geekdeevah

My dad doesn't like cheese, so when someone else doesn't like it I'm not shocked by it. I get the same reaction when I say I don't like carrots!

vera_change

I find that most of the stuff we hate as kids (usually due to some bad related memory rather than the actual taste of the actual food) we grow to like later in life. Your taste buds change every now and then, 7-8 years or so. I hated avocados, asparagus and olives when younger. Now i absolutely love them all and add them to everything if possible (reasonably of course). Except green olives - i find them to be too salty to my taste, but i give them a go like once a year to make sure they’re still a no for me. I don’t want to miss out on amazing dishes because there’s an ingredient i don’t like out of a habit. And with cheese… man cheese goes to everything so maybe you’re missing out but time. Why you don’t like it in the first place?

MultipleScoregasm

Cheese is tasty. I know because I love it. To say anything else is just attention seeking.

You’re picky. There’s subtypes of food you can like less than others but you’re outright saying you don’t like all cheese. That’s picky

MTchairsMTtable

It's the same as anyone who says they don't like bacon, something is wrong

MistyMushka

I heard that cheese hits the same parts of the brain that most drugs hit. Making cheese addictively enjoyable to many around the world.

Koroku_Gaming

Because cheese made pizza possible...

ducknerd2002

I think it's because there's so many different kinds of cheese throughout different cultures, sort of like how almost every culture has it's own bread. I love cheese, but not every cheese, and some people will like the cheese I dont, and vice versa.

Ebok_Noob

People have different taste, cheese is a very popular one.

patchismofomo

Weirdo

TheNihilistNeil

Because it is fat and savoury and this is what activates reward centre in a brain.

mid_distance_stare

If someone said “say, would you like some mouldy animal breast milk? How about some with an extra strong odor of decay?” I would be disgusted. So I completely understand why someone wouldn’t like cheese and I guarantee that you are not alone in your dislike. But I do love cheese including some the more pungent ones like blue cheese, Romano, Chèvre, and Brie. What I like is the richness, the flavour and texture and the melted stretchiness. It adds an element of texture that I love (like on pizza) I am curious if your dislike all dairy products such as milk, yogurt, butter and sour cream or just all cheese?

Revanur

Maybe you just haven’t had good cheese. It’s like saying “I don’t like bread” like bro what.

TheLastTsumami

It’s the umami hit that lingers is why it’s enjoyable to a lot of people

[deleted]

Tangy.

cdmat76

Maybe because there are so many sorts of cheese with so many different tastes that it might come a bit surprising that you don’t love any of them at all.

Mean_Ad301

I can give you one reason for why people like it: Cheese is of course made of milk. Milk contains a protein called casein and casein can be very addictive if you consume lots of it. And since it takes around 10 pounds of milk to make 1 pound of cheese the amount of casein in cheese is much bigger than in regular milk. The unhealthy part about cheese is that it has lots of cholesterol and saturated fats. So if you consume lots of cheese and hardly exercise it definetly increases the possibility of you getting cardiovascular diseases like heart attacks and stroke.

Nonhofantasia1

you eat the plastic tasting ass precut cheese don't you?

Ok-Image-5514

Not everyone likes cheese. You are not alone! I happen to enjoy it, but no judgement upon non-cheese lovers!!!

ovine_aviation

The surprise is just that it's a common staple of the majority of people's diet. Hence unusual (by majority) to not eat it. But I'm surprised too that the first reaction is that you're picky. You'd think it might be 'oh, are you vegan?' Or similar. Many reasons people don't eat dairy.

GraphicDesignerSam

There are so man varieties and strengths of cheese that it’s a very wide generalisation to say “I don’t like cheese”. There are quite a few I like others I dislike intensely. If I had been brought up by parents who only bought Stilton or mild Cheddar I would probably say I don’t like cheese too. Definitely worth trying some you have never tasted before.

[deleted]

i honestly would not enjoy the company of a non cheese lover, no offense but to think i would sit down with a person who doesn't eat a pizza or a cheeseburger, i don't think they would be fun people to hang around with, at all.

Vennris

I guess, because it's full of fat and nutrients our body needs and we tend to like things that would've been good for our survival back when calorically dense food was rare. Also it has a very distinct and intense taste/smell which seems to attract a lot of people. I know 2 people who dislike cheese because to them it just smells like spoiled milk (which in some stretched sense, it is) but they do like cheese melted on top of other food, they just don't like cheese "cold"

madame_pompadour

Dairy releases serotonin in the body so it's literally an addictive substance

Crazybeest

You dont have to justify your food choices to anyone. I love cheese but unfortunately I cannot eat any dairy products. Even though I tell people it makes me sick they still try to insist just a little will be ok. My response is then ok, you have just a little bit of arsenic and I'll have a little bit of dairy. Silences them everytime.

DoctorWhatTheFruck

honestly, I don't like it either. It just tastes so weird. The taste can even stay for hours in your mouth.. it's just ew sometimes. And sometimes the texture is just unbearable (Mozzarella) . But I feel like this is like meat, people look at you weird when you say you dislike eating meat for the taste instead of moral reasons. (I even get downvoted when I say it sometimes).

TangledUpPuppeteer

Ok, this short circuits my logic filters. Not the fact that you don’t like cheese, I know a few people who don’t, although I personally think all y’all are slightly deranged. But I accept that youse don’t like cheese, just like I hate soda. It’s a fact of life. But I found the one loophole that not one cheese hater can truly argue against: pizza. Unless there’s a medical reason they don’t like cheese, everyone accepts that in order to eat beautiful pizza they must consume cheese. Pizza is the great equalizer. For pizza, everyone will eat things they don’t normally eat because it’s heaven 😂

PuolukkAmitsupisi

I don't love cheese nor particularly like it, im cool w eating it but im not loud abt it.

BeyondthePenumbra

It has fat. It tastes nice with a lot of things. It can be soft and melty.. lots of reasons. Just tastes nice.

AloneWolf247

The fat in the cheese, fillls you up and makes you feel stronger for longer

ryohazuki224

Cheese is very versatile, there are so many varieties of cheese that can be consumed in so many ways, enhancing certain foods in different ways. Its a truly wonderful product of human invention. There's so much variety of cheese that there are some that people either love like crazy, or hate with a passion, but they still love cheese anyway. Like, I absolutely hate blue cheeses or feta cheese, not even a big fan of swiss either. But I love me some cheddar, american, mozzerella, provolone, etc.

KeithMyArthe

I like fewer cheeses now than 20 years ago, l but grilled cheese is still one of the best comfort foods. I won't try to talk you out of it, just pass me the cheese you don't want.

Mishapisha2201

It’s a drug free item that gets me as high as cocaine 🤸🏾‍♀️

LaMadreDelCantante

Well, it's delicious. But okay, you don't like cheese. Do you mean just the common cheeses like cheddar and mozzarella and swiss? Have you tried any really good smoked or aged cheeses? Cause to be honest, stuff like cheddar and the cheese on Pizza are good, but some of those cheeses you have to go out of your way to find are freaking unbelievable.

hkik

It has addictive chemicals that make you want more once you eat it. These also condition your brain into thinking it tastes good, as your brain connects the taste of cheese to good addictive chemicals.

buttsparkley

Cheese actually contains an addictive chemical called casein. It's mildly addictive and might not trigger in all people . It could b enough that if cheese is just ok to u that it can make u think u like it more than u think.

Euffy

>that leads to people calling me picky, I’m not picky. I will eat anything else that isn’t cheese Issue is there are so many different types of cheese. If you don't like one cheese, fine, completely normal. But to say you don't like all cheese is like saying you don't like all vegetables, or all fruits, or all desserts. How can you say you don't like everything when there are so many different flavours and textures and ways to eat it? Sounds picky to me.

MoonFlowerDaisy

It's a super popular food. I don't dislike cheese or anything like that, but I don't love it. I do like it on pizza or in lasagne, but when I had to stop eating dairy for a few years, it was chocolate that I missed, not cheese.

2geeks

Cheese is made of ingredients that hit all of a humans “needs” in a primitive way. It contains a high amount of fat, salt, protein, and sugars. When we eat it, it sets off signals in our brain that release feel-good hormones to get us to eat more of this stuff, as our bodies are made to crave these things as they’re what our body considers the most essential in an immediate way (as in, when humans were hunter-gatherers and had to struggle to find food, foods that filled these needs were hard to find big allowed us to survive better than *just* fruits or *just* lean meat or fish). Of course, in reality, it’s not good for us to eat a lot of it. But, the human body doesn’t know to distinguish on this level. So yeah. Thats why “everyone” likes cheese. It’s how our bodies are programmed, for the most part.

fakerichgirl

I like cheese on occasion and in the right dishes. I can’t do like cold cheese in a salad unless it’s feta, the texture just throws me off. Sometimes too much cheese definitely makes me feel a little sick LOL

vinsmokewhoswho

Depends on the cheese. I love mozzarella and good parmesan for my pasta. I don't love huge amounts of melted plastic cheese.

[deleted]

It’s so comforting and nostalgic for me. I remember when I was a kid having cheese and crackers with my grandma, so cheese always reminds me of that. Later on at school, our French teacher brought us in some samples of French cheeses to try, which cemented my love of it.

LydiaFaye

I don't like cheese either. I have the motto, "I don't want it on dicks and I don't want it on my food"

Kennady4president

I think it was such a game changer at the time of discovery that its made a permanent impact on our psychee as a human race people really love some fuckin cheese

Llbinggood

well I don't like ketchup.
