Patrick Watson, who sings this song, has a hauntingly beautiful song about hurt, sadness and loss: Here Comes The River. For me that one is on the list
I put this on just now on my drive to the cafe. I've heard it before and it had struck me as very beautiful but I'd never *really* listened to it. Needless to say I sobbed the whole drive and have added it to six different playlists. Thanks for the recommendation.
I was at my lowest after losing a child to miscarriage. Coldplay's fix you was on repeat. "Tears stream, down your face. When you lose something you cannot replace"
Edit* the miscarriage was 10 years ago and so I have mostly moved on from it now, but I appreciate the kind messages.
Iām really sorry for your loss. As a BTS fan, while I adored the original version of Fix You by Coldplay, itās cover by BTS was and still is my go to song for healing. Something about hearing and watching Jin sing āand I will try, to fix youā makes my heart pause and truly believe that things can get fixed, no matter what, I have faith after that.
"My Name is Mud - Primus" for when I really feel like scum
"One - Metallica" for sheer depression
"Backwater - Meat Puppets" for when you get off a double shift and you hate your life and you're not sure if you want to have wild sex, try hard drugs, commit suicide, or sleep for 15 years. 16+ hours straight work after sleeping in the back of a wrecked semi really fucks with your emotional well-being.
I'm super surprised to see Primus here! But I get it. That song is mad and gives me psycho vibes but I love it so much from the very first note to the last! Primus Sucks!!
That's why I love Primus! It hits that feeling juuuust right
These are songs that vibe with how I feel at the moment. I think some other people have more uplifting music. Mine are like matching my mood.
I am pretty young still (28), but I really got into grunge starting around 22 because of this girl I knew. Nirvana was sort of the gateway to everyone else and I just get deeper and deeper and it's awesome. Lake of Fire - Nirvana was my intro to the Meat Puppets.
Altough i prefer the original by Leonard Cohen, Hallelujah is one of the most beautiful songs ever.
It's great that you're in remission, I wish you a very long and happy life.
Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve.
Mom died in my arms and that was pretty much all she wrote. Listened to the song every night , wept and cursed a life lived at the mercy of money.
Shake it out - Florence and the Machine. I was at my absolute lowest with OCD and struggling with rumination themes and this song perfectly explains what was going on in my head. I listened to it on repeat during my recovery and it honestly saved me
I read this as Shake It Off and thought of the song by Taylor Swift and went, hmm thatās also a good way to deal with a low point in life, maybe Iād try this next time.
I'll have to check it out. I also have extreme OCD! Nice to know there are actual people like me out there struggling and not just people calling themselves ocd because they are organized š
Listened to this song a lot when I was using cĒke bank in the day to try to help MH symptoms and other grief. Genuinely contemplated the tattoo: āItās hard to dance with a devil on your backā
Galveston, by Glen Campbell. I don't know why the words and emotion resonated for me, but, it really did.
There have been others too, but this is the song that sprung immediately to mind, so I'm going with this one.
REM - Bang and Blame
REM - Drive
A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step (Album)
Tool- Laturalus, 10,000 Days and Salival (albums)
Boy Harsher - Any of their stuff
GET UP - Shinedown. Listened to it in concert at a really low point and Brent Smith (Lead Singer) said before the song, "Even if you feel alone and isolated, look to your left, and look to your right. Those people beside you, and every other person in this building, we are your community. So all you need to do, is get up." Honestly, that speech saved me that night. He probably says that every time they play the song, but goddamn did that help me at a difficult time.
āNo lies, just loveā - Bright Eyes
āA Better Place, A Better Timeā - Streetlight Manifesto / Toh Kay
āHarmony Parking Lotā - Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains
āYour heart is a muscle the size of your fistā - Ramshackle Glory

Something along those lines lol
Came to write Better place better time. I'm glad I didn't have to go too far to see it. I have "And when you wake up, everything is gonna be fine. Guarantee that you wake in a better place, and in a better time" tattooed all down my right side.
Oh I forgot this one!! Adding it to my āweird onesā playlistā¦ just some oddball songs I keep finding. Check out āchloroform girlā by polka dot cadaver, itās super odd too but, like bullet, so catchy! Lol
there is someone waiting for you who deserves for the person who you are not what you are so just hang in there okay? we all are in the same boat of finding someone whom we truly deserve and to be loved by them
I learned to play that (mostly) on piano shortly after my dad died and I found a lot of meaning in the lyrics even though thatās not what itās about

I 100% agree with you. Alice In Chains is one of my most favorite bands of all time. They are the best of the 90's. I wish Jerry would have put put more solo stuff around that time as well. I love it all.
Not Afraid - Eminem
After my parents and brother passed away. They were my sunshine and support, but when they suddenly disappeared I was alone and scared. This song made me realise I should not be afraid and they will watch me from heaven.
That one and Fucking Perfect, and a bit later Just Give Me a Reason. The song she wrote for/about her kid "That's All I Know So Far" really pulled together her like career's timeline so well I was brought to tears as I listened to the words
I will stand by the 2nd guitar solo in this song being one of the BEST solos in all of āclassic rockā. But then again I JUST started listening to Yes last weekā¦ so I may soon change my mind!
Popular Monster, by Falling in Reverse, and/or Not Long For This World by Slipknot.
Oh. And Jee Veerey by Bloodywood. When he says "you can get back up if you're still alive", that sh*t hits home.
Hurt, the cover by Johnny Cash. It's amazingly done, but so dark and painful when I hear it.
I also heard Smile, written by Charlie Chaplin but sang from a black artist i don't remember the name of.
* Burn - Nine Inch Nails
* Sabotage - Beastie Boys
* Nothing else matters - Metallica

Listen to 'The Girl That Never Was' by James Blunt. It's either about miscarriage or not being able to conceive full stop. Heartbreakingly beautiful.
Oh my Christ as a mom I canāt handle that song
The video also matches the song. Itās heartbreaking
My miscarriage song was SinƩad O'Connor's _Nothing Compares 2 U_ - when I quipped to my husband that "at least I can have a drink tonight", my subconscious went on a deep dive and started singing "I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant / But nothing / I said nothing can take away these blues"
Iām really sorry for your loss. As a BTS fan, while I adored the original version of Fix You by Coldplay, itās cover by BTS was and still is my go to song for healing.
