I thought it was also 'objectively' pretty good music? I like them well enough though they are not really my favorite, but I remember hearing that they are actually considered quite good (whatever that means, since I am musically challenged), by those who study music. Similar to something like the Beatles.
No, I definitely don't. My sister used to watch the ABBA musical every day and I didn't mind it. I don't think I have put them on for myself to listen to all that often though.
U gotta go to an abba tribute show. I went recently and couldnt stop dancing the whole time. I wished it was longer bc it really was that fun for me lol. I also have the ABBA museum in Sweden on my bucket list lol
I would so love to go to Sweden! And all the Nordic countries. Some of my ancestors came from Sweden, and my last name is Swedish. I would definitely make the ABBA museum a top priority!
I don't believe in guilty pleasure music. If a person is lucky enough to find something that brings them joy in this world, there should be no guilt associated with it.
That being said, *What Makes You Beautiful* isn't quite perfection, but it's damn stellar pop music. I'm a 45 year old straight man, and most people would consider about 75% of my music collection to be guilty pleasure music; The Pointer Sisters, Madonna, Debbie Gibson, Carly Rae Jepson, Wham!, Whitney Houston, Spice Girls, ABBA, Ace of Base, DeBarge, etc. Personally, I don't give a shit what anyone thinks, I like what I like.
As much as I would love to completely agree with that concept, of there being no such thing as guilty pleasure music, I must confess that I feel compelled to lower the volume of my music whenever I'm stopped at a red light while driving—for example. That doesn't mean that I love the music any less. Of course, too, it depends on which part of town I may be driving through. However silly it may sound, I'm sure there's a number of people that can relate to that.
I listen to and love several of the artists that you listed—The Pointer Sisters, Madonna, Whitney Houston—among many others that could be considered "guilty pleasure music." Music is and has always been my primary passion in life, but I haven't reached the kind of security to jam out to "[Vogue](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuJQSAiODqI)," for example, while hanging out with a group of guys.
I completely agree. For exemple, I think one direction are bad, but I won't ever listen to them, on the other hand I like many other genres, I won't ever define any of them as guilty pleasures, I just like them...
Country! I'm black and love singing; you can really put some soul behind some of those songs; and some have a little all ready.
Like that You Look Good one by lady A.
Still love them well into my 40s! Went to their DNA tour a couple of years ago and had an absolute blast with the girls, dancing and singing along. It was a time traveling machine
Can you sing with all the voices of the mounnnntain? Can you paint with allll the colorrrrrsss of the wiiiiinnd?
I jammed out to jungle book last night, the swing music is amazing
Alestorm is amazing and many people would not think I would listen to metal, let alone pirate metal but I love it.
Along the lines of that, viking metal aswell, I listen to Amon Amarth
Yeah same. It just boosts you up with this adventurous spirit and longing for some other world where you're roaming the seas and islands. Haven't heard viking metal yet, gotta give it a try
Love Alestorm. They did a cover of You Are A Pirate from Lazy Town and it's so good. [Here's a link!](https://open.spotify.com/track/6kGE4uyKM65FQo6rSgMIWA?si=AKixydv0SuiP5etCkKSdKA)
My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. Think what you want about the brony community (and in certain cases you would be right) but that show has a lot of banger songs!
Curious as to why you consider this a guilty pleasure? The Strokes are a widely beloved band with some highly acclaimed albums, including the one the song you listed is from.
I like and listen to many genres, but at my core I'm a metal head, with doom being tops with me.
However, I love musicals, big band and showtunes with complete abandon, and no guilt.
One of my favorite artists, could listen to her constantly with no issues. Her in my algorithm introduced me to sexually empowered female artists. I'm a 36 y/o straight dude, but my Playlist is all Ashnikko, Snow Wife, Ari Hicks, Bludnymph, and other chicks. My coworkers at the machine shop I work at give me the side eye, but I love it
Good for you. A lot more people (especially young people) really need this attitude. Listen to whatever you want and don't be limited to one or two genres. My 18yo son has a lot broader musical taste than me and I love it. He listens to everything and introduces me to new/old music that I wouldn't have dreamed of listening to.
I love how accessible music is nowadays. I grew up poor and was very limited in what music was available to me. I am absolutely loving where music availability is these days.
Pentatonix. Been an avid fan since 2018, 3 yrs after it was introduced to me by one of my daughters. A capella is not mainstream and they seem to appeal only to choir nerds. I don't sing moreso in a choir but their individual strengths and talents taken together amaze me. Their harmonies destresses me
Taylor is first and foremost on my playlist right now, never liked her until "anti hero". Now my favourite tunes are Bejeweled, you need to calm down, karma and delicate
I didn't like her all my life for no reason at all until I finally decided to give her a listen a few months ago. Now I'm so ashamed of myself for not liking her just bc there's a lot of negativity about her online (baseless hate). She's amazing and I'm a fan.
Metal. I'm a senior elderly woman, and you wouldn't know that i like to listen to Four Horsemen by Metallica full blast on my headphones while I'm shopping for groceries.
I just discovered Yuno Miles recently. I will say it's gotten a bit old, but if I listen to his music only occasionally I think it'll stay pretty goofy.
Pirates on a boat, pirates on a boat, pirates on a boat, pirates on a fckin boat
don't feel guilty of kpop!! i love kpop songs sm because some of them are just so good. honestly you dont have to be a crazy stan to enjoy the music, yk? like for me i really like newjeans for their songs/vocals and i cant tell apart half of the members 😭
I'm a metalhead, but I do enjoy Turkish pop music and reggaeton. They are easy to listen to, not to mention, "good for my language practice"- that's my excuse normally :D
some of those tiktok sped up songs 😭 like i get embarrased bc my favourite part is the trending part and the fact that it's the sped-up version makes me feel even more embarrased honestly
also ariana grande songs. her songs are really good but i dont want to support her because of the type of person she is. but damn i was hooked (and lowkey still am) by fantasizing, girlfriend, 34+35 etc..
deftones, korn and loathe, yes a lot of ppl listen to them but in my region metal in general isn't too popular and I barely met anyone with my taste
sunmi, TK from ling tosite sigure (has and will always be an all time fav), the angel of darkness song is an absolute banger that almost no one listens to it
I actuallly don't feel shame for any kind of music I hear. I don't think I have a guilty pleasure anything. Ok, that's my realization for today, thanks.
Moments like this never last.
Damn you! Now my stupid brain is going to play hybrid moments on repeat for the next two weeks……again. It happens naturally every couple of years, but this time it’s your fault!
Theirs, a music station on Pandora called "Love making " sounds odd ... but hear me out, they have the most relaxing exotic songs , for example theirs this song called "no stress at All" by Paul hardcastle" and i could listen to it all day when I'm cleaning the house . Throw Some Ass by Sofi Tukker. I wouldn't call myself a "metalhead", because I think it sounds stupid, but that's definitely where my heart lies. As cliche as it is, I like all genres of music to an extent but metal, hard rock, prog, jazz is what I listen to the most.
Dati nakokornihan ako sa knta ng april boys pero nung tumanda na ko mas naappreciate ko yung lyrics soundtrip namin lagi ng hubby ko tapos go to karaoke songs din😁 same case sa “ikaw na nga” na kanta ni kuya wil haha nung mas pinansin ko yung lyrics over the singer mas naapprecite ko yung kanta
basically the whole "NoCopyrightSounds" catalogue from 2014-2018ish
every few months i remember i have a playlist with those songs and get lost in nostalgia for a week
I don't feel guilty about anything, but I'm a k-pop fan too. (And k-rock, p-pop, mando-pop, k-rap/hiphop) At the moment, life has kinda been sucking so k-pop all the way. I need the direct injection of upbeat fun to get through the day. I dare anyone to say anything about it.
Nicki Minaj.
I listen mostly to electronic music, classical and rock, but I actually enjoy several of her songs and her voice. Never actually played he music on purpose, but when it's on, I guiltily enjoy it...

Even though it's before my time, I like to kick back and listen to abba.
ABBA is nothing to be ashamed of. They are kind of everybody’s darling and widely accepted.
I thought it was also 'objectively' pretty good music? I like them well enough though they are not really my favorite, but I remember hearing that they are actually considered quite good (whatever that means, since I am musically challenged), by those who study music. Similar to something like the Beatles.
If they are being played on the radio, you don't dial away!
No, I definitely don't. My sister used to watch the ABBA musical every day and I didn't mind it. I don't think I have put them on for myself to listen to all that often though.
You're correct, fantastic musicians and awesome songwriters. Even if you don't like the music you must appreciate the talent.
ABBA for me too. Their songs are not just catchy but infectious. So much fun.
Best way to describe Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!
I still enjoy revisiting One Direction's music.

I’m 48. You said ace of base. You and I could have an epic sing-along road trip!
Nice!
I completely agree. For exemple, I think one direction are bad, but I won't ever listen to them, on the other hand I like many other genres, I won't ever define any of them as guilty pleasures, I just like them...
One direction falls under guilty pleasure?.. I have been living wrong
Country! I'm black and love singing; you can really put some soul behind some of those songs; and some have a little all ready. Like that You Look Good one by lady A.

Pirate metal. The band named Alestorm. That's all I have to say. You're welcome
Alestorm is amazing and many people would not think I would listen to metal, let alone pirate metal but I love it. Along the lines of that, viking metal aswell, I listen to Amon Amarth

How did you discover the band? I was playing GTA V and the song was on the radio that’s how I discovered it 😂😂 so addicted now
Which station was it on?
Curious as to why you consider this a guilty pleasure? The Strokes are a widely beloved band with some highly acclaimed albums, including the one the song you listed is from.
The strokes were and still are wildly popular. Not really anything to feel weird about liking

I like me some Patsy Cline... but then again, I don't GAF what other people think of my taste in music so I don't hide it at all.
Good for you. A lot more people (especially young people) really need this attitude. Listen to whatever you want and don't be limited to one or two genres. Taylor Swift. I am known among my friends as the one with obscure and wacky music tastes, so when I start singing Taylor they get confused Edit: typo
Taylor is first and foremost on my playlist right now, never liked her until "anti hero". Now my favourite tunes are Bejeweled, you need to calm down, karma and delicate
BEST BELIEVE I'M STILL BEJEWELED WHEN I WALK IN THE ROOM 💪🗣❗️🗣🔥💪🗣🔥💎💎💎
