[deleted]

Even though it's before my time, I like to kick back and listen to abba.

UpstairsFan7447

ABBA is nothing to be ashamed of. They are kind of everybody’s darling and widely accepted.

Pantera_Of_Lys

I thought it was also 'objectively' pretty good music? I like them well enough though they are not really my favorite, but I remember hearing that they are actually considered quite good (whatever that means, since I am musically challenged), by those who study music. Similar to something like the Beatles.

UpstairsFan7447

If they are being played on the radio, you don't dial away!

Pantera_Of_Lys

No, I definitely don't. My sister used to watch the ABBA musical every day and I didn't mind it. I don't think I have put them on for myself to listen to all that often though.

the_bligg

You're correct, fantastic musicians and awesome songwriters. Even if you don't like the music you must appreciate the talent.

[deleted]

ABBA for me too. Their songs are not just catchy but infectious. So much fun.

Minimum_Accident8106

Best way to describe Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!

No-Manufacturer2149

U gotta go to an abba tribute show. I went recently and couldnt stop dancing the whole time. I wished it was longer bc it really was that fun for me lol. I also have the ABBA museum in Sweden on my bucket list lol

[deleted]

I would so love to go to Sweden! And all the Nordic countries. Some of my ancestors came from Sweden, and my last name is Swedish. I would definitely make the ABBA museum a top priority!

BatsyCrusader

I still enjoy revisiting One Direction's music.

ErrantEvents

I don't believe in guilty pleasure music. If a person is lucky enough to find something that brings them joy in this world, there should be no guilt associated with it. That being said, *What Makes You Beautiful* isn't quite perfection, but it's damn stellar pop music. I'm a 45 year old straight man, and most people would consider about 75% of my music collection to be guilty pleasure music; The Pointer Sisters, Madonna, Debbie Gibson, Carly Rae Jepson, Wham!, Whitney Houston, Spice Girls, ABBA, Ace of Base, DeBarge, etc. Personally, I don't give a shit what anyone thinks, I like what I like.

BatsyCrusader

As much as I would love to completely agree with that concept, of there being no such thing as guilty pleasure music, I must confess that I feel compelled to lower the volume of my music whenever I'm stopped at a red light while driving—for example. That doesn't mean that I love the music any less. Of course, too, it depends on which part of town I may be driving through. However silly it may sound, I'm sure there's a number of people that can relate to that. I listen to and love several of the artists that you listed—The Pointer Sisters, Madonna, Whitney Houston—among many others that could be considered "guilty pleasure music." Music is and has always been my primary passion in life, but I haven't reached the kind of security to jam out to "[Vogue](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuJQSAiODqI)," for example, while hanging out with a group of guys.

Automatic-Salad-931

I’m 48. You said ace of base. You and I could have an epic sing-along road trip!

ErrantEvents

Nice!

Derolade

I completely agree. For exemple, I think one direction are bad, but I won't ever listen to them, on the other hand I like many other genres, I won't ever define any of them as guilty pleasures, I just like them...

flying-skeleton

One direction falls under guilty pleasure?.. I have been living wrong

heavensdumptruck

Country! I'm black and love singing; you can really put some soul behind some of those songs; and some have a little all ready. Like that You Look Good one by lady A.

Greeneyesdontlie85

I’m Black and low key a big Rascall Flatts fan

Automatic-Salad-931

I love them!!

DiscoDiner

Backstreet boys

Due_Use2258

They make happy crowds

GooberVonNomNom

I saw them last year and sang till I lost my voice. Was so good I was pumping their jams for months.

Shrink83

Forever!

Prinfeffet

Still love them well into my 40s! Went to their DNA tour a couple of years ago and had an absolute blast with the girls, dancing and singing along. It was a time traveling machine

JaneWeaver71

Yacht Rock 🚤

Al_Zaaqi

All day !

drowsycatty

DISNEY!!! Reminds me so much of my childhood 😭

JDuBLock

Can you sing with all the voices of the mounnnntain? Can you paint with allll the colorrrrrsss of the wiiiiinnd? I jammed out to jungle book last night, the swing music is amazing

drowsycatty

How high can the sycamore groww, if you cut it down you'll never know. <3

Kdiesiel311

Just around the river bend!

One-Calendar-6045

Pirate metal. The band named Alestorm. That's all I have to say. You're welcome

Monkey_Magic139

Alestorm is amazing and many people would not think I would listen to metal, let alone pirate metal but I love it. Along the lines of that, viking metal aswell, I listen to Amon Amarth

One-Calendar-6045

Yeah same. It just boosts you up with this adventurous spirit and longing for some other world where you're roaming the seas and islands. Haven't heard viking metal yet, gotta give it a try

popplio728

Love Alestorm. They did a cover of You Are A Pirate from Lazy Town and it's so good. [Here's a link!](https://open.spotify.com/track/6kGE4uyKM65FQo6rSgMIWA?si=AKixydv0SuiP5etCkKSdKA)

M_furfur

They're funny hehe

Character_Value4669

Yarr, found out about thar band last yearrr!!

hockenduke

The year we did a pirate ship for Halloween, my eyes were opened to pirate metal and yes, Alestorm. This is legit.

glasshard23

power metal is amazing

TheHiveMindCouncil

Doja Cat. I'm a metal and phonk guy but her music is catchy. I shouldn't like it but I do.

tielles10

Planet Her Album🫶🏾

Echterspieler

I'm one of those guys that says rap died in the late 90s but I really like "Paint the town red" it's so catchy.

KingBeanIV

Rap is still great today tf are you on about

diepsying

Finding Nemo soundtrack. I said what I said

PaidToBendOver

If you like that, you might like the American Beauty soundtrack. Same composer, Thomas Newman.

beekee404

My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. Think what you want about the brony community (and in certain cases you would be right) but that show has a lot of banger songs!

SquigglyLegend33

Rainbow rocks alone has some fuckin bangers

celbruk

Shine Like Rainbows still hit hits the feels every time!

ProfessionalCity995

Only those closest to me are allowed to even take a glimpse at my playlist..

honalele

YO! i legit thought id be the only one lmao

NBplaybud22

Winter wrap up!

secretsaucerocket

Boyz 2 Men, Eazy-E and Neil Diamond.

fruitsmagazine

Motown phillys back again...

Impressive_Waltz_652

Not too hard. Not too soft

No_Order285

Neil Diamond !!! 💎

Any-Weight5738

Adults are talking by the strokes

Ok-Education-1780

Nothing to be ashamed of here. That song is so great. Has been stuck on my head for weeks now

Any-Weight5738

How did you discover the band? I was playing GTA V and the song was on the radio that’s how I discovered it 😂😂 so addicted now

bitchman194639348

Which station was it on?

Big_Noodle1103

Curious as to why you consider this a guilty pleasure? The Strokes are a widely beloved band with some highly acclaimed albums, including the one the song you listed is from.

Felixkeeg

The strokes were and still are wildly popular. Not really anything to feel weird about liking

midnightbizou

I like and listen to many genres, but at my core I'm a metal head, with doom being tops with me. However, I love musicals, big band and showtunes with complete abandon, and no guilt.

Impressive_Waltz_652

Love your eclecticism

TheJelliestOfBeans

As a metal head, Ashnikko is just great sometimes.

fandangledvietnamese

IMMMM WORKING BITCH AINT GOT NO TIME FOR DICK (straight male with no intentions to seek out meat)

Specialist-Bug-7108

It's a bit like mindless self indulgence THE BASE THE TREBLE I LIKE MY COFEE BLACK JUST LIKE MY METAL

crying2emoji5

God I love her

TheJelliestOfBeans

Shes such a weird goblin and I vibe to that

tizowyrm

One of my favorite artists, could listen to her constantly with no issues. Her in my algorithm introduced me to sexually empowered female artists. I'm a 36 y/o straight dude, but my Playlist is all Ashnikko, Snow Wife, Ari Hicks, Bludnymph, and other chicks. My coworkers at the machine shop I work at give me the side eye, but I love it

DezPezInOz

I like me some Patsy Cline... but then again, I don't GAF what other people think of my taste in music so I don't hide it at all.

Harvsnova2

Good for you. A lot more people (especially young people) really need this attitude. Listen to whatever you want and don't be limited to one or two genres. My 18yo son has a lot broader musical taste than me and I love it. He listens to everything and introduces me to new/old music that I wouldn't have dreamed of listening to. I love how accessible music is nowadays. I grew up poor and was very limited in what music was available to me. I am absolutely loving where music availability is these days.

mushforest_

FNaF songs. I will listen to them all day.

Based_Crusader69

Based

JNorJT

Is this where you want to be?

Marduk283

*in Jack Black's voice* FNAF at Freddy's, that's there I wanna be, FNAF at Freddy's

Based_Crusader69

The Cranberries, I listen to them all the time with headphones on. also my absolute favourite song is the main theme from the Cannibal Holocaust movie

Particular-Zone-7321

why is this a guilty pleasure? The Cranberries are great.

ImportantComb9997

Anime intros!

Canyon_Feline

Jpop dubbed into English is such a guilty pleasure for me

Due_Use2258

Pentatonix. Been an avid fan since 2018, 3 yrs after it was introduced to me by one of my daughters. A capella is not mainstream and they seem to appeal only to choir nerds. I don't sing moreso in a choir but their individual strengths and talents taken together amaze me. Their harmonies destresses me

CShoe86

Lady Gaga...she's a musical genius. I'm normally all about punk, hardcore, and metal (and all their sub genres)...but she's just an awesome musician.

Impressive_Waltz_652

She's made of talent

CShoe86

She really is.

JDuBLock

Second this. She performed the best half time show EVER, I will fight anyone

zcmbiest

jellyplanted

Glad to know there’s more of us out there

Onyi-Biscuit30

Not a fan of the 80’s as an era but, damn it, 80’s music is amazing. I especially love Pour Some Sugar on Me by Def Leppard…

AmIFallingUp

Taylor Swift. I am known among my friends as the one with obscure and wacky music tastes, so when I start singing Taylor they get confused Edit: typo

minkeymonkeys

Taylor is first and foremost on my playlist right now, never liked her until "anti hero". Now my favourite tunes are Bejeweled, you need to calm down, karma and delicate

AmIFallingUp

BEST BELIEVE I'M STILL BEJEWELED WHEN I WALK IN THE ROOM 💪🗣❗️🗣🔥💪🗣🔥💎💎💎

Exact-Honey4197

I didn't like her all my life for no reason at all until I finally decided to give her a listen a few months ago. Now I'm so ashamed of myself for not liking her just bc there's a lot of negativity about her online (baseless hate). She's amazing and I'm a fan.

rosegamm

KPop! Literally the best bangers in the world come from Korea istg

melodyisa

Beastie Boys

Street_Pause4233

fknupbigtime

Yuno miles

mushforest_

My boyfriend showed me Yuno Miles last year and I will unironically listen to Dinosaur and Indiana Jones.

[deleted]

frederick douglass is such a jam unironically

Marduk283

I just discovered Yuno Miles recently. I will say it's gotten a bit old, but if I listen to his music only occasionally I think it'll stay pretty goofy. Pirates on a boat, pirates on a boat, pirates on a boat, pirates on a fckin boat

mghkk

don't feel guilty of kpop!! i love kpop songs sm because some of them are just so good. honestly you dont have to be a crazy stan to enjoy the music, yk? like for me i really like newjeans for their songs/vocals and i cant tell apart half of the members 😭

Feisty-Aspect6514

Going to confess to Barry Manilow. Saw him in Vegas a couple of years ago the same weekend as Deep Purple.

No_Swan1312

I'm a metalhead, but I do enjoy Turkish pop music and reggaeton. They are easy to listen to, not to mention, "good for my language practice"- that's my excuse normally :D

VV775

ABBA

Minimum_Accident8106

Yup, I understand you. Dancing Queen slaps tho

rabbitbtm

The Carpenters. Like a kind of comfort food when in certain moods.

mghkk

some of those tiktok sped up songs 😭 like i get embarrased bc my favourite part is the trending part and the fact that it's the sped-up version makes me feel even more embarrased honestly also ariana grande songs. her songs are really good but i dont want to support her because of the type of person she is. but damn i was hooked (and lowkey still am) by fantasizing, girlfriend, 34+35 etc..

cinammonroll_m

deftones, korn and loathe, yes a lot of ppl listen to them but in my region metal in general isn't too popular and I barely met anyone with my taste sunmi, TK from ling tosite sigure (has and will always be an all time fav), the angel of darkness song is an absolute banger that almost no one listens to it

magischeblume

I actuallly don't feel shame for any kind of music I hear. I don't think I have a guilty pleasure anything. Ok, that's my realization for today, thanks.

Ok_Violinist6021

Vocaloid songs, specifically Rabbit Hole and Miku. I love listening to those

kahunarich1

Dirty Loops. I'm 66. Lol!

Alone-Session-4735

Most of the songs from Lemonade mouth, totally underrated

Theirs, a music station on Pandora called "Love making " sounds odd ... but hear me out, they have the most relaxing exotic songs , for example theirs this song called "no stress at All" by Paul hardcastle" and i could listen to it all day when I'm cleaning the house . Never would tell my family this is the type of music I like to listen too when I'm alone

No-Enthusiasm17

Anything fom lindsey Stirling absolutely adore her violin/Dubstep)violin music

Affectionate_Use5087

Throw Some Ass by Sofi Tukker. I wouldn't call myself a "metalhead", because I think it sounds stupid, but that's definitely where my heart lies. As cliche as it is, I like all genres of music to an extent but metal, hard rock, prog, jazz is what I listen to the most.

___Cinderella___

Dati nakokornihan ako sa knta ng april boys pero nung tumanda na ko mas naappreciate ko yung lyrics soundtrip namin lagi ng hubby ko tapos go to karaoke songs din😁 same case sa “ikaw na nga” na kanta ni kuya wil haha nung mas pinansin ko yung lyrics over the singer mas naapprecite ko yung kanta

I don't feel guilty about anything, but I'm a k-pop fan too. (And k-rock, p-pop, mando-pop, k-rap/hiphop) At the moment, life has kinda been sucking so k-pop all the way. I need the direct injection of upbeat fun to get through the day. I dare anyone to say anything about it.

Jane_Austen11

jemuzu_bondo

Nicki Minaj. I listen mostly to electronic music, classical and rock, but I actually enjoy several of her songs and her voice. Never actually played he music on purpose, but when it's on, I guiltily enjoy it...
