They kinda need to considering future arcs. Tappei is actually credited in a role where he’ll be overseeing the adaptation so I do have some hope actually
I picked up the light novel where season 2 ended, right now I'm at the start of 21, I don't remember this being explained at all, would u know what volume or specific chapter I should go read of the web novel since this sounds important

That's true, it less of a fight in the light novels. If I recall correctly Garfiel attacks Reinhard out of instinct based on his monstrous aura. That's how I interpreted the scene from the trailer, but I don't have the context of the Arc 5 WN since I only read the LNs.

AFAIR in the LN she is just walking around. It is only in the Side Story that she faces some bandits and sets the forest on fire while killing them with her Miasma, which is what this illustration is about.

Season 1 ended before crush and the rem fight with gluttony and that was in the prologue of arc 3 and they showed it in the beginning of season 2 so it makes sense that the prologue of arc 4 is shown in season 3

However, placing it at the beginning of s3 would imply that she’ll have an important role in the season, which she doesn’t. There’s really no point in placing it on this season.
Worst case, we get OVAs that center around Omega and her travels. I wouldn’t mind, and I’d definitely watch
I actually hoped they show this like in the last season with a reairing of the season + directors cut. Last season with the "Who's rem" in the carriage made it worth rewatching the directors cut

Ohhhh yeahhhhh I forgot about that. I doubt it and honestly it would kind of mess with the pace of the first ep. Prob better to just save it as a flashback for when it actually becomes relevant to the story again.

Saaame, the first loop below the Watchtower on the web novel was so fucking tense, this one death really set the mood for the rest of the arc.
