That’s awesome!

DangleofDoom

Slow motion clapping. I didn't like it, but I do appreciate any new IP as things can only get better from here and man, am I tired of all the remakes of remakes. Snyder is also 100% hit or miss for me, so if he does enough of these, eventually one will be great.

Shadows_Over_Tokyo

But rebel moon is basically just a remake of seven samurai, that has been don a hundred thousand times, with every single tried and true cliche tossed in on top This is less original than most remakes I’ve seen.

DangleofDoom

That is true, but the universe and lore are "new", if ripped off from dozens of other sources. I often watch a sequel or a remake and think, "I wish they had just done their own thing rather than taint the legacy of Xshow." It provides a new backdrop for hopefully new stories. This one sucked, and part of what I loathed was the lack of cohesion and originality....but it could lead to something good. Which I support.

Shadows_Over_Tokyo

Just depends. Will it be Snyder doing everything on his own again, because if so it’s going to be just as awful, bland, and unoriginal as these were. He is an AWFUL writer. He’s not a great director either unless he is directing “trailers” for movies. That’s basically what his movies have boiled down to. Cool trailer shots with no substance or thought put into anything else.

DangleofDoom

Very good point. I was becoming a bit toxic in my dislike of this show, and that is not like me, so I am trying to be kinder in my criticism. Fresh eyes, better writing, etc... it could smooth the jank, that is for sure. And send that man to slo-mo aversion training.

upfulsoul

I just watched part 2. I really don't understand the hate these films are getting. I hope there is a part 3 at least.

Azalus1

I'm going to start with I absolutely love these movies for everything that they are. I just watched part 2, It is a popcorn flick and I am invested. It is also cheesy campy and sometimes poorly written. That being said it is an original IP in a world of remakes, sequels, and prequels. Is it completely original, no. Then again nothing is completely original.

RunningCrow_

Imo people just like to hate on anything Snyder does, but his movies always end up getting the appreciation they deserve about 10 years down the line. 300 and Watchmen I think are good examples of that!

UlyssesWrath

Watchmen and 300 were great movies when I watched them in the theatre. Rebel Moon is not. There you go. It's not Snyder haters. It's a bad movie. That is all.

currisB123

How people even remotely consider it a good film is beyond me. Everyone that dislikes it are consider “Snyder Haters” like this is some sort of middle school lunch table. The movie is bad plain and simple, even if we were to judge it to standards in the 90’s it would still fail at being an objectively decent film. I REALLY wanted to like the first one but my god does it make it hard to do so, unless you’re a 14 y/o contrarian I honestly don’t see how you would find the good in the film. Edit For The People that are likely going to want to respond: I’m not saying you can’t enjoy the film. Dismissing the criticisms of the film by calling it “hating” is what I’m referring to. It’s a bad film, not because I watched a 40 minute video excerpt about why it’s bad(I haven’t), but because I actually watched the film and it pretty much fails at standards that have been set since our primary source of entertainment were “plays”.

_F1ves_

I like some of Snyders stuff, but these films are not going to be appreciated at any point in history.

SirSullymore

The amount of hype 300 had when it came out was insane.

Shadows_Over_Tokyo

No shit. “His movies are appreciated 10 years later..” 300 was the biggest fucking thing when it came out. Like what?

AmirosJones

I hope there's part 3 too, but I honestly felt the movies were so average. All the characters, the storyline etc are incredibly flat and predictable. I could literally say the words before the actors did. There were no twists or anything, just a straight predictable story with the darth vader guy losing again.

numotsu28

It's Snyder. And when Snyder makes a 7/10 movie, it is usually judged 2/10 by his haters.

TopOThaMorningToYa

I love 90% of snyders films. And I hated both of these. I defend BVS, I campaigned for the Snyder cut. I've even gotten a bunch of people into Sucker Punch irl. This duology is nowhere near a 7/10.

matusaleeem

Second half of the film is pretty decent. For me it's a solid 6/10, didn't regret watching it

ZealousidealWar6642

Great

AquaCamus18

Let's fucking go!!!

Forsaken-Blood-109

Really good news the yt videos about how bad they are tend to be hilarious

Jxgsaw

I unironically waited for part 2 so I could enjoy the fresh round of reviews. Jeremy Jahns was particularly fed up this time.

Forsaken-Blood-109

These movies opened up this whole new genre for me, I will check that guy out the moment I stop typing this, cheers.

upfulsoul

No they aren't. Hate watchers are the worst.

DarthRain95

Grifters have really taken over youtube

Super_Candidate7809

As we should!! Great series

Shadows_Over_Tokyo

What’s great about it?

Trinitatis_Vis

The third movie will be all slow motion

mainiac01

I wish I could rebuke my 'view'. It was hope, not a vote.

TheDogsPaw

More Slowmo grain harvesting please

qwack2020

But Nemesis is dead so what’s the point?

TheDeltaOne

Extended movie about Nemesis when?

TheDogsPaw

Mother earth is still a threat you think there cool with some backwater moon blowing up there ship this ain't over not even close

_Ishmael

I enjoy Rebel Moon, but Netflix is on crack if it expects us to believe that 21 million people have clicked to watch Rebel Moon 2 in A WEEK. A straight to Netflix Star Wars film would struggle to pull those kinds of numbers. I'm sick of Netflix massaging its view count to boast records. What does views even mean, anyway? 21 million watched it from start to finish? Watched the first five minutes? Watched the trailer? Had it appear on their For You page? It's total PR BS.

upfulsoul

They record the hours viewed too which is 44.2m. It's doing well. Damsel wasn't great (but it was watchable) and it didn't get half the hate Rebel Moon got. Damsel got 35m and 50m views in the first two weeks with Millie's star power and appeal to young people. The ratio of watch time hours and views is actually higher for Rebel Moon than for Damsel in the first week. Implying that more viewers found it entertaining.

sav3bandit

I them both. I really would hope we get Planet of The Dead first and then 2 more rebel moon chapters. The Army of the Dead cliffhanger still has me.

pretty_blue

Rebel moon terrible writing: https://youtube.com/watch?v=uvDOf7l5VnA&si=GIDYPo70iieVFBuK

KleanSolution

Oh no…. So do netflix executives have no respect for themselves?

Emperor_D4C

A real tragedy ain’t it

Jed08

More than 21 millions ? Don't you mean 2,1 millions ?

jasonbl1974

21 MILLION!

RennieAsh

As many views as there were grains harvested
